1. If equipped, lift the fireplace screen up and pull out to remove. Set the screen aside until installation has been completed.
2. Cut two plastic straps to remove the log from the firebox cavity. Set the log aside.
3. An optional blower is available. Install the optional blower now if applicable. Follow installation instructions provided with the blower.
4. Locate four black Phillips sheet metal screws in the hardware packet.
5. Slide the hood between the louver and firebox top and align screw holes.
6. Insert screws and tighten firmly.
Carefully lift the insert through the center opening in the front of the fireplace. Slide the insert back through the opening until the metal trim makes contact with the front of the mantel.

This heater is intended for use as supplemental heat. Do not install this heater as your primary heat source. Maintain the minimum clearances. If possible, provide greater clearances from the floor, ceiling, and adjoining wall than required.
Clearances from the side of the fireplace cabinet to any combustible material and wall should be at least 6 inches on either side.
Clearances from the top of the fireplace opening to the ceiling should not be less than 36 inches.

How do I assemble the logs on the PLEASANT HEARTH VFF-PH32LP-H2?
It is very important to install the logs exactly as instructed. Do not modify logs. Use only logs supplied with the heater. Each log is marked with a number.
1. Insert log #1 onto the rear brackets of the base pan.
2. Insert log #2 onto the middle row of pins on the base pan.
3. Insert log #3 onto the front right pin of the base pan.
4. Insert log #4 onto the front left pin of the base pan.
5. Insert log #5 onto the left pins of log #1 & #2 and the pin of log #3.
After installing logs, add decorative cinders around the grate base, do not place any decorative cinders on logs or burner.
How do I light the PLEASANT HEARTH VFF-PH32LP-H2?
1. STOP! Read the safety information provided in the manual.
2. Open the lower access panel located below the fireplace screen.
3. Set the receiver switch to “ON” position.
4. Turn the control knob clockwise to the “OFF” position.
5. Wait five (5) minutes to clear out any gas. Then smell for gas, including near the floor. If you smell gas, STOP! If you don’t smell gas, go to the next step.
6. Push in slightly and turn the control knob counterclockwise to the “PILOT” position. Depress the control knob.
7. With the control knob depressed, push down on the ignitor button until the pilot lights. The pilot is located behind the fireplace screen, centered near the rear of the burner.
8. Keep the control knob depressed for (30) seconds after the pilot lights. Release the control knob. If the control knob does not pop up when released, stop and immediately call a qualified service technician or gas supplier. If the pilot goes out, repeat steps 4 through 8. Wait (1) minute before attempting to light the pilot again.
9. Turn the control knob counterclockwise to the “ON” position.
10. To use the included thermostatic remote control, set the receiver switch to the “REMOTE” position. Press the ON button to turn on the remote to ignite the main burner.

How do I set the desired room temperature using the thermostat function on the PLEASANT HEARTH VFF-PH32LP-H2 remote?
To set the THERMO MODE and DESIRED room temperature:
1. Press the MODE key until the LCD screen shows the word ROOM, then the remote is in the thermostatic mode.
2. Press and hold the SET key until the desired set temperature is reached. (By pressing and holding the set key the LCD screen set numbers will increase from 45 degrees to 99 degrees then restart over at 45 degrees).
3. Release the SET key. The LCD screen will display the set temperature for 3 seconds and the LCD screen will flash the set temperature for 3 seconds, then the LCD screen will default to display the room temperature.
Note: The highest SET temperature is 99 degrees Fahrenheit (32 degrees Celsius) and the lowest temperature is 45 degrees Fahrenheit (6 degrees Celsius).

Check the pilot flame pattern often. A correct pilot flame pattern should be touching the thermocouple. If the pilot flame pattern is incorrect and not touching the thermocouple, the thermocouple will cool and shut down the fireplace.

We recommend that you clean the unit every three months during operation and have the fireplace inspected yearly by a qualified service person.
1. Shut off the unit including the pilot. Allow the unit to cool for at least 30 minutes.
2. Inspect burner, pilot, and primary air inlet holes on the orifice holder for dust and dirt.
3. Blow air through the ports/slots and holes in the burner.
4. Check the orifice holder located at the end of the burner tube again. Remove any large particles of dust, dirt, lint, or pet hair with a soft cloth or vacuum cleaner nozzle.
5. Blow air into the primary air holes on the orifice holder.
6. Clean the pilot assembly also. A yellow tip on the pilot flame indicates dust and dirt in the pilot assembly. With the unit off, lightly blow air through the air inlet hole (about 2″ from where the pilot flame comes out). You may blow through a drinking straw if compressed air is not available.
To clean parts, we recommend using compressed air no greater than 30 PSI.
