What are the guidelines for selecting and loading print media for the SAMSUNG XPRESS M2880?

Using the correct print media helps avoid print quality issues and paper jams on your SAMSUNG XPRESS M2880.

Guidelines for Selecting Print Media:

• Only use print media that meets the guidelines specified in the user’s guide. Using non-compliant media can cause poor print quality, increased paper jams, and premature wear on the machine.

• Consider properties like weight, composition, grain, and moisture content.

• For best results, use media appropriate for your project, with the desired brightness and surface smoothness.

• Do not use inkjet photo paper, as it can damage the machine.

• Do not use flammable print media.

Tips for Avoiding Paper Jams:

• Ensure the adjustable paper guides in the tray are positioned correctly.

• Do not overload the tray. The paper level should be below the capacity mark.

• Do not remove paper from the tray while the machine is printing.

• Before loading, flex, fan, and straighten the paper stack.

• Do not use creased, damp, or highly curled paper.

• Do not mix different paper types and sizes in one tray.

How to Load Paper in the Tray:

1. Pull the paper tray out from the machine.

2. Open the tray cover and remove any paper.

3. Squeeze the paper width guides and pull them to the ends of the tray.

4. Flex and fan the edges of the paper stack to separate the sheets.

5. Place the paper stack in the tray. The print side should be facing down.

6. Adjust the paper width guides so they lightly touch the sides of the paper stack.

7. Insert the tray back into the machine.

Labels: Use only labels designed for laser printers. The adhesive should be stable at the fusing temperature. Use full label sheets with no exposed backing between labels. Must lie flat with no more than 13 mm of curl.

Card stock/Custom-sized paper: In your software application, set margins to at least 6.4 mm (0.25 inches) from the edges of the material.

How do I troubleshoot general printing, copying, scanning, and faxing problems with the SAMSUNG XPRESS M2880?

Printing Problems

Machine does not print: Ensure it’s receiving power, is selected as the default printer in Windows, and the front cover is closed. Check for paper jams, empty paper tray, or uninstalled toner cartridge. Also, check the cable connection.

Print job is extremely slow: The document may be very complex. Reduce the complexity or adjust print quality settings.

Half the page is blank: The page orientation setting in your application may be incorrect. Change it to match the paper orientation.

Copying Problems

Copies are too light or too dark: Adjust the ‘Darkness’ setting in the copy feature.

Smears, lines, or spots appear: If defects are not on the original, clean the scan unit.

Blank copies print out: Ensure the original is placed face down on the scanner glass or face up in the document feeder.

Scanning Problems

Scanner does not work: Make sure the original is placed correctly. Check that the printer cable is connected properly and is not defective. Ensure the scanner is configured correctly in your software.

Unit scans very slowly: Graphics scan slower than text. Also, high memory usage for scanning can slow communication. Check if the machine is busy with another task.

Faxing Problems

No dial tone: Check that the phone line is properly connected to the machine and the wall socket.

Faxes are not received automatically: The receiving mode should be set to ‘Fax’. Ensure there is paper in the tray.

Incoming fax is poor-quality: A noisy phone line can cause errors. Check your machine’s quality by making a copy. The sending fax machine may also be faulty.
