Follow these safety precautions when using your MOTOROLA DOT202 to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and injury to persons or property:

• Keep all slits and openings of the phone unblocked. Do not set the phone on a heating register or over a radiator. Ensure that proper ventilation is provided at the installation site.

• Do not use while wet or while standing in water.

• Do not use this product near water (for example, near a bath tub, kitchen sink, or swimming pool).

• Do not allow anything to rest on the power cord. Place the power cord so that it will not be walked on.

• Never insert objects of any kind into the product vents as that may result in fire or electric shock.

• Unplug this product from the wall outlet before cleaning. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosol cleaners. Use a damp cloth for cleaning.

• Do not disassemble this product. If service or repair work is required, contact the customer service helpline.

• Do not overload wall outlets and extension cords.

• Avoid using during an electrical storm. Use a surge protector to protect the equipment.

• Do not use this phone to report a gas leak, especially if you are in the vicinity of the gas line.

• To reduce the risk of fire, use only the supplied power adaptor.

You should unplug the MOTOROLA DOT202 immediately from an outlet if any of the following conditions occur:

• The power cord or plug is damaged or frayed.

• Liquid has been spilled on the product.

• The product has been exposed to rain or water. Do not retrieve the handset or base until after you have unplugged the power and phone from the wall. Then retrieve the unit by the unplugged cords.

• The product has been dropped or the cabinet has been damaged.

• The product exhibits a distinct change in performance.

• Read and understand all instructions and save them for future reference.

• Follow all warnings and instructions marked on the product.

• Do not install this product near a bath tub, sink, or shower.

• Operate this phone using only the power source that is indicated on the marking label.

• Do not place this product on an unstable cart, stand, or table, as it may fall and cause serious damage.

• Adjust only those controls that are covered by the operating instructions.

• Clean this product with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use chemicals or cleaning agents.

• Use only the power supply that came with this unit.

• To avoid interference, do not place the base of the phone on or near a TV, microwave oven, or VCR.

• Do not burn, disassemble, mutilate, or puncture the battery. The battery contains toxic materials that could be released, resulting in injury.

• There is a risk of explosion if you replace the battery with an incorrect battery type. Use only the batteries that came with your phone or an authorized replacement recommended by the manufacturer.

• Keep batteries out of the reach of children.

• Remove batteries if storing over 30 days.

• Do not dispose of batteries in fire, which could result in explosion.

• The rechargeable batteries must be disposed of properly and may need to be recycled. Contact your local recycling center for proper disposal methods.

The MOTOROLA DOT202 has the following features:

If you have purchased a multiple pack, you will also have the following additional items:

• DOT20 Cordless handset & charger

• 2 x rechargeable Ni-MH battery cells

• Power adaptor for the charger

• Do not place your phone in the bathroom or other humid areas.

• Place your phone base within reach of the AC power outlet and telephone wall socket. The socket should be easily accessible.

• Make sure that it is at least one metre away from other electrical appliances to avoid interference.

• Your phone works by sending radio signals between the handset and base. The strength of the signal depends on where you place the base. Placing it as high as possible ensures the best signal.

The unit has a range of up to 300 metres outdoors with a clear line of sight between the base and handset. Any obstruction will reduce the range significantly. With the base indoors and the handset either indoors or outdoors, the range will normally be up to 50 metres. Thick concrete and stone walls can severely affect the range.

The signal strength icon on your handset indicates if you are within range. When out of range, the icon is off, and you will hear a warning beep if you are on a call. The line will hang up if the handset moves out of range. Moving it closer to the base will allow it to reconnect automatically.

1. Plug the telephone line cord into the socket marked with a telephone symbol on the rear of the base.

2. Plug the power adaptor into the socket marked DC 6V on the rear of the base and plug the other end into the wall socket. Switch on the power supply.

Important: The base station must be plugged into AC power at all times. Do not connect the telephone line cord into the wall socket until the handset is fully charged. Use only the supplied power adaptor and telephone line cord.

1. Remove the battery cover from the back of the handset and insert the 2 x AAA Ni-MH rechargeable battery cells supplied. Note the + and – markings inside the battery compartment and insert the batteries in the correct direction.

2. Slide the battery cover back into place.

3. For the first-time charge, place the handset on the base to charge for at least 16 hours continuously.

4. When the handset is fully charged, the battery icon will appear steadily on the display. Then, plug the other end of the telephone line cord into the telephone wall socket.

If the battery icon flashes on the display and you hear a warning beep every minute during a call, you will need to recharge the handset before you can use it again. When charging, the battery icon will scroll on the display.

In ideal conditions, fully charged batteries should give up to 17 hours of talk time or up to 250 hours of standby time on a single charge. Note that new batteries do not reach their full capacity until they have been in normal use for several days.

To keep your batteries in the best condition, leave the handset off the base for a few hours at a time. Running the batteries completely down at least once a week will help them last as long as possible. The charge capacity will reduce over time as they wear out, eventually requiring replacement.

After the first charge, subsequent charging time is about 6-8 hours a day. It is normal for the batteries and handset to become warm during charging.

1. Press MENU/OK, scroll to Clock/Alarm and press MENU/OK.

2. The display shows Date & time.

3. Press MENU/OK to select.

4. Enter the date using the keypad (e.g., 12-08-2024 for 12th of August 2024) and press MENU/OK to confirm.

5. Enter the time using the keypad (HH:MM), e.g., 06:30.

6. Press MENU/OK to confirm.

• Menu / OK: Press to open the menu, select menu options, and confirm a displayed option.

• Contact list: Press to open the phonebook entries.

• Calls list / Up: In standby mode, press to open the calls list. During a call, press to increase earpiece/speaker volume. When ringing, press to increase ringer volume. Also used to scroll up through menus.

• Talk / Hands-free: Make or answer a call. Press to switch hands-free on or off during a call.

• * / Intercom / Switch from pulse to tone: Make internal calls and transfer calls. Dial a *. During a call, switch from pulse to tone dialling.

• Call block: Press to open the call block menu.

• Delete / Back / Mute: In editing mode, press to delete a character/digit. Press and hold to delete all. Go back to the previous menu level. During a call, press to turn mute on or off.

• Recall: Press to use the recall function with switchboard/PABX services.

• Redial / Down: In standby mode, press to open the redial list. During a call, press to decrease earpiece/speaker volume. When ringing, press to decrease ringer volume or turn it off. Also used to scroll down through menus.

• End Call / Exit / Switch Handset on/off: Press to end a call. When in a list or menu, press to exit to standby. Press and hold for 3 seconds to switch the handset on or off.

• # / Pause: Press and hold to enter a pause (P) when pre-dialling or storing numbers. Dial a #.

When the handset is switched on and in standby mode:

1. Press MENU/OK to open the main menu.

2. Then use the Up or Down buttons to scroll through the available options.

3. Press MENU/OK to select an option.

To return to the previous menu level, press the Back button. To exit the menu and return to standby mode, press the End Call button. If no buttons are pressed for 30 seconds, the handset returns to standby mode automatically.

Make a call:

1. Press the Talk button.

2. When you hear the dial tone, dial the number.

Preparatory dialling:

1. Dial the number first. If you make a mistake, press the Back button to delete the last digit.

2. Press the Talk button to dial.

Receive a call:

When you receive an external call, the phone rings. Press the Talk button to answer. If Auto Answer is on, you can simply lift the handset from the base to answer.

End a call:

Press the End Call button, or place the handset back on the base or charger.

These features require more than one handset registered to the base.

Make an internal call:

1. Press and hold the * (INT) button.

2. If you have more than two handsets, scroll to the handset you want to call, then press the Talk button.

Transfer an external call:

1. During an external call, press and hold the * (INT) button.

2. If necessary, scroll to the desired handset and press MENU/OK.

3. When the other handset answers, press the End Call button to complete the transfer.

3-way conference call (2 internal, 1 external):

1. During an external call, press and hold the * (INT) button to call another handset.

2. When the other handset answers, press MENU/OK to connect all three callers.

3. Press the End Call button to end the conference call.

Make a hands-free call:

1. Press the Talk button twice, then dial the number. The hands-free icon is displayed and the call can be heard over the handset loudspeaker.

2. Press the Talk button again to switch between the earpiece and the loudspeaker.

3. Press the End Call button to end the call.

Answer a call hands-free:

When the phone rings, press the Talk button twice to answer the call.

Switch to hands-free during a call:

1. During a regular call, press the Talk button to put the call on the loudspeaker.

2. To switch hands-free off and return to the earpiece, press the Talk button again.

The last 10 entries dialled are stored in the redial list.

View or dial an entry:

1. Press the Down button to open the redial list.

2. Scroll Up or Down to the entry you want.

3. Press the Talk button to dial the displayed entry or press the End Call button to return to standby.

Copy a Redial list number to the phonebook:

1. Open the redial list and scroll to the desired entry.

2. Press MENU/OK, the display shows Save number.

3. Press MENU/OK again. The display shows Enter name.

4. Enter the name and press MENU/OK. Edit the number if necessary, then press MENU/OK to store it.

Delete an entry:

1. Open the redial list and scroll to the entry.

2. Press MENU/OK, scroll to Delete, and press MENU/OK. Confirm when prompted.

Delete the entire redial list:

1. Open the redial list.

2. Press MENU/OK, scroll to Delete all, and press MENU/OK. Confirm when prompted.

You can alert a handset user or locate a missing handset using the paging feature.

1. Press the page button (with a sound wave icon) on the underside of the base. All handsets registered to the base will ring.

2. To stop the ringing, press the page button on the base again or press any button on the handset.

You can store up to 100 names and numbers.

Store a name and number:

1. Press MENU/OK. The display shows Phonebook.

2. Press MENU/OK and scroll to Add new, then press MENU/OK.

3. The display shows Enter name. Enter the name using the keypad letters and press MENU/OK.

4. The display shows Enter number. Enter the number and press MENU/OK to save.

View or dial an entry:

1. Press MENU/OK twice to select Phonebook and then View.

2. Scroll Up or Down to the entry you want, or enter the first letter of the name to search alphabetically.

3. Press the Talk button to dial the number.

Edit a name and number:

1. Press MENU/OK, select Phonebook, scroll to Edit and press MENU/OK.

2. Scroll to the entry you want to edit and press MENU/OK.

3. Edit the name and press MENU/OK. Edit the number and press MENU/OK to save.

Delete an entry:

1. Press MENU/OK, select Phonebook, scroll to Delete and press MENU/OK.

2. Scroll to the entry you want to delete and press MENU/OK. The display shows Confirm?. Press MENU/OK to confirm.

This feature requires a subscription to Caller ID Service. You can block anonymous calls or specific numbers.

Switch anonymous call blocking on/off:

1. Press MENU/OK, scroll to Call block and press MENU/OK.

2. The display shows Anonymous call. Press MENU/OK.

3. Press Up or Down to select On or Off, then press MENU/OK to confirm. This will block calls that show as Private, Anonymous, Unavailable, or Out of area.

Block by number (up to 100 numbers):

1. Go to Menu > Call block > Block list > Block number > Add new.

2. Enter the number you wish to block and press MENU/OK to save.

You can also view, edit, or delete numbers from the block list through the Block list menu.

The Calls list stores details of the last 50 received calls. This feature requires Caller ID service.

View the Calls list:

1. Press the Up button to open the Calls list. If the list is empty, it will display “List empty.”

2. Press Up or Down to scroll through the list. A left-pointing arrow indicates an answered call, while a phone with an ‘X’ indicates a missed (unanswered) call.

Dial a number from the Calls list:

1. Open the Calls list and scroll to the desired entry.

2. Press the Talk button to dial the displayed number.

Store a number from the Calls list to the blacklist:

1. Open the Calls list and scroll to the number you want to block.

2. Press MENU/OK and scroll to Block number.

3. Press MENU/OK twice to confirm.

1. Press MENU/OK, scroll to Clock/Alarm, and press MENU/OK.

2. Scroll to Set alarm and press MENU/OK.

3. Press Up or Down to select On or Off and press MENU/OK.

4. If you select On, enter the time (HH:MM), e.g., 06:30.

5. Press MENU/OK to confirm.

When the alarm sounds, press any button to stop the ringing or press * or # to snooze for 10 minutes.

You can adjust various tones through the Personal set menu (Menu > Personal set).

• Handset ringer volume: Select Handset tone > Ring volume. Choose from 5 volume levels or Off.

• Handset ringer melody: Select Handset tone > Ring tones. Choose from 10 different ringer melodies.

• Key tone: Select Handset tone > Key tone. Switch the button press beeps On or Off.

• Docking tone: Select Handset tone > Docking tone. Switch the double beep On or Off for when you place the handset on the base.

• Battery tone: Select Handset tone > Battery tone. Switch the low battery warning beep On or Off.

You can register up to 4 handsets to your base.

Register an additional handset:

1. On the base: Press and hold the page button for 5 seconds. The base will remain in registration mode for 90 seconds.

2. On the handset: Go to Menu > Advanced set > Register and press MENU/OK.

3. The display will ask for the PIN. Enter the 4-digit PIN code (default = 0000) and press MENU/OK. You will hear a beep if the registration is successful.

Deregister a handset:

1. On a working handset, go to Menu > Advanced set > Deregister.

2. Enter the 4-digit PIN code (default = 0000).

3. Scroll to select the handset number that you want to deregister.

4. Press MENU/OK. You will hear a confirmation beep.

You can restore your phone to its original settings. This will delete all entries in the Calls and Redial lists. Entries in the phonebook will be retained.

1. Press MENU/OK, scroll to Advanced set, and press MENU/OK.

2. Scroll to Reset and press MENU/OK.

3. The display shows Confirm?. Press MENU/OK to confirm.

Your phone will restart automatically. Once reset, the handset will prompt you to reset the date and time.

• Use only the supplied telephone line cord.

• Make sure that the telephone line cord is properly connected.

• Make sure that the power plug is securely connected and switched on.

• Make sure that the batteries are correctly inserted and fully charged. Use only the approved rechargeable batteries supplied.

• Make sure that the batteries are correctly inserted and fully charged.

• Make sure that the handset is switched on. Press and hold the End Call button.

• Reset the base by removing the handset batteries and disconnecting the power supply. Wait for about 15 seconds before connecting it again. Allow up to 1 minute for the handset and base to synchronize.

• The handset is out of range. Move it closer to the base.

• Make sure that the handset is registered to the base.

• Make sure that the power plug is properly connected and switched on.

• Adjust the handset slightly on the base.

• Clean the charging contacts with a cloth moistened with alcohol.

• Make sure that the power plug is properly connected and switched on.

• The battery may be full. When the handset is fully charged, the full battery icon will appear steadily on the display.

• Check your subscription with your network operator; Caller ID is a subscription service.

• The caller may have withheld their number.

• For a name to be displayed, the record must be stored in your phonebook with the correct name and full number, including the area code.

• You can register up to a maximum of 4 handsets to a base. You must deregister an existing handset to register a new one.

• Make sure that you have entered the correct PIN code (default = 0000).

• Make sure that you are at least one metre away from other electrical equipment to avoid interference when registering.

• If the display shows Searching, you must deregister a handset in order to register a new one.

• The handset ringer volume may have been set to Off. Increase the volume.

• Make sure the Call Block mode is turned off.

• Place your phone at least one metre away from electrical appliances or any metal obstructions to avoid any risk of interference.

• Your base or charger cradle may be too close to other equipment. Move it as far away as possible.

Cleaning:

• Clean the handset and base (or charger) with a damp (not wet) cloth, or an anti-static wipe.

• Never use household polish as this will damage the product. Never use a dry cloth as this may cause static shock.

Environmental:

• Do not expose to direct sunlight.

• To avoid damage, do not place the product on antique / veneered wood.

• Do not place your product on carpets or other surfaces which generate fibres, or in locations preventing the free flow of air over its surfaces.

• Do not submerge any part of your product in water or use it in damp conditions, such as bathrooms.

• Do not expose your product to fire, explosives or other hazardous conditions.

• There is a slight chance that your phone could be damaged by an electrical storm. It is recommended that you unplug the power and telephone line cord during an electrical storm.

All items of telephone equipment have a Ringer Equivalence Number (REN), which is used to calculate the number of items that may be connected to any one telephone line. Your MOTOROLA DOT202 has a REN of 1. A total REN of 4 is allowed on a single line. If the total REN of 4 is exceeded, the telephones may not ring. Any additional handsets and chargers that you register have a REN of 0.
