You must charge the handset of your MOTOROLA DOT203 for 16 hours before using it for the first time.

When using your MOTOROLA DOT203, follow these safety precautions to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and injury:

• Keep all slits and openings of the phone unblocked. Do not set the phone on a heating register or over a radiator. Ensure that proper ventilation is provided at the installation site.

• Do not use while wet or while standing in water.

• Do not use this product near water (for example, near a bath tub, kitchen sink, or swimming pool).

• Do not allow anything to rest on the power cord. Place the power cord so that it will not be walked on.

• Never insert objects of any kind into the product vents as that may result in fire or electric shock.

• Unplug this product from the wall outlet before cleaning. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosol cleaners. Use a damp cloth for cleaning.

• Do not disassemble this product. If service or repair work is required, contact the customer service helpline.

• Do not overload wall outlets and extension cords.

• Avoid using during an electrical storm. Use a surge protector to protect the equipment.

• Do not use this phone to report a gas leak, especially if you are in the vicinity of the gas line.

• To reduce the risk of fire, use only the supplied power adaptor.

Important: This equipment is not designed to make emergency telephone calls when the power fails. Alternative arrangements should be made for access to emergency services.

You should unplug your MOTOROLA DOT203 cordless phone immediately from an outlet if:

• The power cord or plug is damaged or frayed.

• Liquid has been spilled on the product.

• The product has been exposed to rain or water. Do not retrieve the handset or base until after you have unplugged the power and phone from the wall. Then retrieve the unit by the unplugged cords.

• The product has been dropped or the cabinet has been damaged.

• The product exhibits a distinct change in performance.

• Do not burn, disassemble, mutilate, or puncture the battery. The battery contains toxic materials that could be released, resulting in injury.

• There is a risk of explosion if you replace the battery with an incorrect battery type. Use only the batteries that came with your phone or an authorized replacement recommended by the manufacturer.

• Keep batteries out of the reach of children.

• Remove batteries if storing over 30 days.

• Do not dispose of batteries in fire, which could result in explosion.

• The rechargeable batteries that power this product must be disposed of properly and may need to be recycled. Refer to your battery’s label for battery type. Contact your local recycling center for proper disposal methods.

Location:

• Do not place your phone in the bathroom or other humid areas.

• Place your phone base within reach of the AC power outlet and telephone wall socket. The socket-outlet should be installed near the equipment and should be easily accessible.

• Make sure that it is at least one metre away from other electrical appliances to avoid interference. Your phone works by sending radio signals between the handset and base. The strength of the signal depends on where you place the base. Placing it as high as possible ensures the best signal.

Connecting the Base:

1. Plug the telephone line cord into the socket marked with a telephone symbol on the rear of the base.

2. Plug the power adaptor into the socket marked DC 6V on the rear of the base and plug the other end into the wall socket. Switch on the power supply.

Important: The base station must be plugged into the AC power at all times. Do not connect the telephone line cord into the wall socket until the handset is fully charged. Use only the power adaptor and telephone line cord supplied with the product.

1. Remove the battery cover from the back of the handset by pressing down and sliding it off.

2. Insert the 2 x AAA Ni-MH rechargeable batteries supplied. Please note the + and – markings on the battery compartment and insert them in the correct direction.

3. Slide the battery cover back into place.

4. If you are charging the batteries for the first time, place the handset on the base to charge for at least 16 hours continuously.

5. When the handset is fully charged, the battery icon will appear steadily on the display. Plug the other end of the telephone line cord (make sure that one end is already plugged into the base) into the telephone wall socket.

If the battery icon flashes on the display and you hear a warning beep every minute during a call, you will need to recharge the handset before you can use it again.

When charging, the battery icon will scroll on the display.

1. Press MENU/OK, scroll to Clock/Alarm and press MENU/OK.

2. The display shows Date & time.

3. Press MENU/OK to select.

4. Enter the date using the keypad (e.g. 12-08-2024 for 12th of August 2024) and press MENU/OK to confirm.

5. Enter the time using the keypad (HH:MM) e.g. 06:30.

6. Press MENU/OK to confirm.

• Earpiece: Where you listen to the caller.

• Display: Shows call information, menu options, and status icons.

• Menu / OK: Press to open the menu. Press to select menu options and to confirm a displayed option.

• Contact list: Press to open the phonebook entries.

• Calls list / Up: In standby mode, press to open the calls list. During a call, press to increase the earpiece/speaker volume. When the phone is ringing, press to increase the handset ringer volume. Press to scroll up through menu options, calls list and phonebook entries.

• Talk / Hands-free: Make or answer a call. Press to switch hands-free on or off during a call.

• * / Intercom / Switch from pulse to tone: Make internal calls and transfer calls. Dial a *. During a call, press to switch from pulse dialling to tone dialling.

• Microphone: Where you speak into.

• Call block: Press to open the call block menu.

• Delete / Back / Mute: In editing mode, press to delete a character or digit. Press and hold to delete all characters and digits. Go back to the previous menu level. During a call, press to turn the mute on or off.

• Recall: Press to use the recall function with switchboard / PABX services and certain network services.

• Redial / Down: In standby mode, press to open the redial list. During a call, press to decrease the earpiece/speaker volume. When the phone is ringing, press to decrease the handset ringer volume or ringer off. Press to scroll down through the menu options, redial list and phonebook entries.

• End Call / Exit / Switch Handset on/off: Press to end a call. When viewing the redial / calls list / phonebook or when in the menu, press to exit and return to standby. Press and hold for 3 seconds to switch the handset on / off.

• # / Pause: Press and hold to enter a pause (P) when pre-dialling or storing numbers. Dial a #.

When the handset is switched on and in standby mode:

1. Press MENU/OK to open the main menu.

2. Then use the UP or DOWN arrow buttons to scroll through the available options.

3. Press MENU/OK to select an option. To return to the previous menu level, press the BACK key (<). To exit the menu and return to standby mode, press the END CALL key.

Note: If no buttons are pressed for 30 seconds, the handset returns to standby mode automatically.

Switch the handset on / off:

Press and hold the END CALL key to switch the handset on or off.

Make a call:

1. Press the TALK key.

2. When you hear the dial tone, dial the number.

Preparatory dialling:

1. Dial the number first. If you make a mistake, press the BACK key (<) to delete the last digit.

2. Press the TALK key to dial.

Receive a call:

When you receive an external call, the phone rings and the call icon flashes on the display.

1. Press the TALK key to answer the call.

Note: If Auto answer is switched on, you can simply lift the handset from the base or charger base to answer a call.

End a call:

Press the END CALL key or place the handset back on the base or charger.

Adjust the earpiece volume:

During a call, press the UP or DOWN arrow keys to increase or decrease the volume. There are 5 levels to choose from.

Mute a call:

1. During a call, press the MUTE key (<). The display shows Mute on and your caller cannot hear you.

2. Press the MUTE key (<) again to resume your call.

Make an internal call:

1. If only 2 handsets are registered to the base, press and hold the * key and the other handset rings automatically.

2. If more than 2 handsets are registered, press and hold the * key, scroll to the desired handset, then press the TALK key.

Receive an internal call:

When you receive an internal call, the call icon flashes. Press the TALK key to answer.

Transfer an external call:

1. During an external call, follow the steps for making an internal call.

2. When the other handset answers, press the END CALL key to complete the transfer.

3-way conference call:

1. During an external call, follow the steps to make an internal call.

2. When the other handset answers, press MENU/OK to connect all three callers to begin the conference call.

3. Press the END CALL key to end the call.

Make a hands-free call:

1. Press the TALK/HANDS-FREE key twice, then dial the number. The hands-free icon is displayed and the call can be heard over the handset loudspeaker.

2. Press the HANDS-FREE key to switch the call between the earpiece and the loudspeaker.

3. Press the END CALL key to end the call.

Answer a call hands-free:

When the phone rings, press the TALK/HANDS-FREE key twice to answer the call.

Switch to hands-free during a call:

1. During a call, press the TALK/HANDS-FREE key to put the call on the loudspeaker.

2. To switch hands-free off and return the call to the earpiece, press the TALK/HANDS-FREE key again.

The last 10 entries dialled are stored in the redial list.

View or dial an entry:

1. Press the REDIAL/DOWN key to open the redial list.

2. Scroll UP or DOWN to the entry you want.

3. Press the TALK key to dial the displayed entry or press the END CALL key to return to standby mode.

Copy a Redial list number to the phonebook:

1. Open the redial list and scroll to the entry you want.

2. Press MENU/OK, the display shows Save number.

3. Press MENU/OK again. The display shows Enter name.

4. Enter the name and press MENU/OK. The number is displayed.

5. Edit the number if necessary, then press MENU/OK. The number is stored.

Delete an entry:

1. Open the redial list and scroll to the entry you want.

2. Press MENU/OK, scroll to Delete, and press MENU/OK.

3. The display shows Confirm?. Press MENU/OK to confirm or the BACK key to cancel.

Delete the entire redial list:

1. Open the redial list.

2. Press MENU/OK and scroll to Delete all. Press MENU/OK.

3. The display shows Confirm?. Press MENU/OK to confirm or the BACK key to cancel.

You can alert a handset user or locate a missing handset using the paging feature.

1. Press the PAGE key on the underside of the base. All handsets registered to the base will ring.

2. To stop the ringing, press the PAGE key on the base again or press any button on the handset.

You can store up to 100 names and numbers in the phonebook.

Store a name and number:

1. Press MENU/OK. The display shows Phonebook.

2. Press MENU/OK, scroll to Add new, and press MENU/OK.

3. The display shows Enter name. Enter the name and press MENU/OK.

4. The display shows Enter number. Enter the number and press MENU/OK to save.

View or dial an entry:

1. Press the CONTACTS key (down arrow) or go to Phonebook > View in the menu.

2. Scroll UP or DOWN to the entry you want, or enter the first letter of the name to search alphabetically.

3. Press the TALK key to dial the number.

Edit a name and number:

1. In the Phonebook menu, scroll to Edit and press MENU/OK.

2. Scroll to the entry you want to edit and press MENU/OK.

3. Edit the name and press MENU/OK. Then edit the number and press MENU/OK to save.

Delete an entry:

1. In the Phonebook menu, scroll to Delete and press MENU/OK.

2. Scroll to the entry you want to delete and press MENU/OK.

3. The display shows Confirm?. Press MENU/OK to confirm.

Delete all entries:

1. In the Phonebook menu, scroll to Delete all.

2. Press MENU/OK. The display shows Confirm?. Press MENU/OK to confirm.

You can set the phone to not ring for certain numbers. You can access the call block menu by pressing the Call Block key (X) in standby mode or through the handset menu. Up to 100 numbers can be added to the block list.

Switch anonymous call block on/off:

This setting blocks calls that show as Private, Anonymous, Unavailable or Out of area.

1. Press MENU/OK, scroll to Call block and press MENU/OK.

2. The display shows Anonymous call. Press MENU/OK.

3. Press UP or DOWN to select On or Off. Press MENU/OK to confirm.

Block by number:

1. In the Call block menu, scroll to Block list and press MENU/OK.

2. Select Block mode and set it to On.

3. Select Block number, then scroll to Add new and press MENU/OK.

4. Enter the number you wish to block and press MENU/OK to save.

The Calls list stores details of the last 50 received calls. To use this feature, you must subscribe to Caller ID service from your network provider.

View the Calls list:

1. Press the CALLS LIST/UP key to open the Calls list.

2. Press UP or DOWN to scroll through the list.

3. To view details, scroll to an entry and press MENU/OK, then select View. You can press MENU/OK again to switch between the name/number and the date/time of the call.

Dial a number in the Calls list:

1. Open the Calls list and scroll to the entry you want.

2. Press the TALK key to dial.

Copy a Calls list number to the phonebook:

1. Open the Calls list, scroll to the entry you want, and press MENU/OK.

2. Scroll to Save number and press MENU/OK.

3. Enter the name and press MENU/OK to save.

Store a number to the blacklist:

1. Open the Calls list, scroll to the entry you want, and press MENU/OK.

2. Scroll to Block number.

3. Press MENU/OK twice to confirm.

Set the alarm:

1. Press MENU/OK, scroll to Clock/Alarm and press MENU/OK.

2. Scroll to Set alarm and press MENU/OK.

3. Press UP or DOWN to select On or Off and press MENU/OK.

4. If you select On, enter the time (HH:MM) e.g. 06:30.

5. Press MENU/OK to confirm.

Switch off the alarm ring:

When the alarm sounds, press any button to stop the ringing or press * or # to snooze the alarm, which will ring again after 10 minutes.

1. Press MENU/OK, scroll to Personal set, and press MENU/OK.

2. From here you can change the following settings:

• Handset tone: Adjust Ring volume (5 levels or Off), select a Ring tone (10 melodies), turn Key tone On/Off, Docking tone On/Off, and Battery tone On/Off.

• Handset name: Enter a personalized name for the handset (up to 13 characters).

• Language: Select your preferred language.

• Auto answer: Set to On to answer calls by lifting the handset from the base, or Off to require pressing the TALK key.

• Auto hang-up: Set to On to end a call by placing the handset on the charger, or Off.

You can register up to 4 handsets to your MOTOROLA DOT203 base.

Register an additional handset:

1. On the base: Press and hold the PAGE key for 5 seconds. The base will remain in registration mode for 90 seconds.

2. On the handset: Press MENU/OK, scroll to Advanced set, press MENU/OK. Scroll to Register and press MENU/OK.

3. The display will ask for the PIN. Enter the 4-digit PIN code (default = 0000) and press MENU/OK.

4. You will hear a beep if the registration is successful.

Deregister a handset:

You must use one handset to deregister another.

1. Press MENU/OK, scroll to Advanced set, and press MENU/OK.

2. Scroll to Deregister and press MENU/OK.

3. Enter the 4-digit PIN code (default = 0000).

4. Scroll to select the handset number that you want to deregister and press MENU/OK.

Restoring your phone to its default settings will delete all entries in the Calls and Redial lists. Entries stored in the phonebook will be retained. All registered handsets will be retained.

1. Press MENU/OK, scroll to Advanced set, and press MENU/OK.

2. Scroll to Reset and press MENU/OK.

3. The display shows Confirm?. Press MENU/OK to confirm. Your phone will restart automatically.

• Use only the supplied telephone line cord.

• Make sure that the telephone line cord is properly connected.

• Make sure that the power plug is securely connected and switched on.

• Make sure that the batteries are correctly inserted and fully charged. Use only the approved rechargeable batteries supplied.

• Make sure that the handset is switched on. Press and hold the END CALL key.

• Reset the base by removing the handset batteries and disconnecting the power supply. Wait for about 15 seconds before connecting it again. Allow up to 1 minute for the handset and base to synchronize.

• The handset is out of range. Move it closer to the base.

• Make sure that the handset is registered to the base.

• Make sure that the power plug is properly connected and switched on.

• Adjust the handset slightly on the base.

• Clean the charging contacts with a cloth moistened with alcohol.

• Make sure that the power plug is properly connected and switched on.

• The battery is full. When the handset is fully charged, the full battery icon will appear steadily on the display.

• Check your subscription with your network operator.

• The caller may have withheld their number.

• The record cannot be found in your phonebook. Make sure that you have the correct name / number stored in your phonebook, with the full area code.

• You can register up to a maximum of 4 handsets to a DOT20 base. You must deregister a handset in order to register a new one.

• Make sure that you have entered the correct PIN code (default = 0000).

• Make sure that you are at least one metre away from other electrical equipment to avoid interference when registering the handset.

• If the display shows Searching, you must deregister an existing handset in order to register a new one.

• The handset ringer volume may have been set to Off.

• Increase the volume.

• Make sure the Call Block mode is turned off.

• Place your phone at least one metre away from electrical appliances or any metal obstructions to avoid any risk of interference.

• Your base or charger cradle may be too close. Move it as far away as possible.

Cleaning:

• Clean the handset and base (or charger) with a damp (not wet) cloth, or an anti-static wipe.

• Never use household polish as this will damage the product. Never use a dry cloth as this may cause static shock.

Environmental Care:

• Do not expose to direct sunlight.

• To avoid damage to furniture, do not place the product on antique / veneered wood.

• Do not place your product on carpets or other surfaces which generate fibres, or place it in locations preventing the free flow of air over its surfaces.

• Do not submerge any part of your product in water and do not use it in damp or humid conditions, such as bathrooms.

• Do not expose your product to fire, explosives or other hazardous conditions.

• There is a slight chance that your phone could be damaged by an electrical storm. We recommend that you unplug the power and telephone line cord during an electrical storm.
