Follow these safety precautions when using your MOTOROLA DOT204 to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and injury:

• Keep all slits and openings of the phone unblocked. Do not set the phone on a heating register or over a radiator. Ensure that proper ventilation is provided at the installation site.

• Do not use while wet or while standing in water.

• Do not use this product near water (for example, near a bath tub, kitchen sink, or swimming pool).

• Do not allow anything to rest on the power cord. Place the power cord so that it will not be walked on.

• Never insert objects of any kind into the product vents as that may result in fire or electric shock.

• Unplug this product from the wall outlet before cleaning. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosol cleaners. Use a damp cloth for cleaning.

• Do not disassemble this product. If service or repair work is required, contact the customer service helpline.

• Do not overload wall outlets and extension cords.

• Avoid using during an electrical storm. Use a surge protector to protect the equipment.

• Do not use this phone to report a gas leak, especially if you are in the vicinity of the gas line.

• To reduce the risk of fire, use only the supplied power adaptor.

Important: This equipment is not designed to make emergency telephone calls when the power fails. Alternative arrangements should be made for access to emergency services.

You should unplug your MOTOROLA DOT204 cordless phone immediately from an outlet if:

• The power cord or plug is damaged or frayed.

• Liquid has been spilled on the product.

• The product has been exposed to rain or water. Do not retrieve the handset or base until after you have unplugged the power and phone from the wall. Then retrieve the unit by the unplugged cords.

• The product has been dropped or the cabinet has been damaged.

• The product exhibits a distinct change in performance.

• Do not burn, disassemble, mutilate, or puncture the battery. The battery contains toxic materials that could be released, resulting in injury.

• There is a risk of explosion if you replace the battery with an incorrect battery type. Use only the batteries that came with your phone or an authorized replacement recommended by the manufacturer.

• Keep batteries out of the reach of children.

• Remove batteries if storing over 30 days.

• Do not dispose of batteries in fire, which could result in an explosion.

• The rechargeable batteries that power this product must be disposed of properly and may need to be recycled. Refer to your battery’s label for battery type. Contact your local recycling center for proper disposal methods.

If you have purchased a MOTOROLA DOT204 multiple pack you will also have the following additional items:

• DOT20 Cordless handset & charger

• 2 x rechargeable Ni-MH battery cells

• Power adaptor for the charger

• Do not place your phone in the bathroom or other humid areas.

• Place your phone base within reach of the AC power outlet and telephone wall socket. The socket-outlet should be installed near the equipment and should be easily accessible.

• Make sure that it is at least one metre away from other electrical appliances to avoid interference. Your phone works by sending radio signals between the handset and base.

• The strength of the signal depends on where you place the base. Placing it as high as possible ensures the best signal.

The MOTOROLA DOT204 has a range of up to 300 metres outdoors when there is a clear line of sight between the base and handset. Any obstruction between the base and handset will reduce the range significantly. With the base indoors and the handset either indoors or outdoors, the range will normally be up to 50 metres. Thick concrete and stone walls can severely affect the range.

Follow these steps to connect the base:

1. Plug the telephone line cord into the socket marked with a telephone symbol on the rear of the base.

2. Plug the power adaptor into the socket marked DC 6V on the rear of the base and plug the other end into the wall socket. Switch on the power supply.

Important: The base station must be plugged into the AC power at all times. Do not connect the telephone line cord into the wall socket until the handset is fully charged. Use only the power adaptor and telephone line cord supplied with the product.

1. Remove the battery cover from the back of the handset and insert the 2 x AAA Ni-MH rechargeable battery cells supplied. Please note the + and – markings on the battery compartment and insert in the correct direction.

2. Slide the battery cover back into place.

3. If you are charging the batteries for the first time, place the handset on the base to charge for at least 16 hours continuously.

4. When the handset is fully charged, the full battery icon will appear steadily on the display. Plug the other end of the telephone line cord into the telephone wall socket.

Warning! Use only the approved rechargeable Ni-MH battery cells (2 x AAA Ni-MH 550mAh rechargeable batteries) supplied with your DOT20.

If the battery icon flashes on the display and you hear a warning beep every minute during a call, you will need to recharge the handset before you can use it again. When charging, the battery icon will scroll on the display.

1. Press MENU/OK, scroll to Clock/Alarm and press MENU/OK.

2. The display shows Date & time.

3. Press MENU/OK to select.

4. Enter the date using the keypad (e.g. 12-08-2024 for 12th of August 2024) and press MENU/OK to confirm.

5. Enter the time using the keypad (HH:MM) e.g. 06:30.

6. Press MENU/OK to confirm.

Earpiece: Where you listen during a call.

Display: Shows call information, menus, and settings.

Menu / OK: Press to open the menu. Press to select menu options and to confirm a displayed option.

Contact list: Press to open the phonebook entries.

Calls list / Up: In standby mode, press to open the calls list. During a call, press to increase the earpiece/speaker volume. When the phone is ringing, press to increase the handset ringer volume. Press to scroll up through menu options, calls list, and phonebook entries.

Talk / Hands-free: Make or answer a call. Press to switch hands-free on or off during a call.

* / Intercom / Switch from pulse to tone: Make internal calls and transfer calls to other handsets. Dial a *. During a call, press to switch from pulse dialing to tone dialing.

Microphone: Where you speak into during a call.

Call block: Press to open the call block menu.

Delete / Back / Mute: In editing mode, press to delete a character or digit. Press and hold to delete all characters and digits. Go back to the previous menu level. During a call, press to turn the mute on or off.

Recall: Press to use the recall function with switchboard / PABX services and certain network services.

Redial / Down: In standby mode, press to open the redial list. During a call, press to decrease the earpiece/speaker volume. When the phone is ringing, press to decrease the handset ringer volume or ringer off. Press to scroll down through menu options, redial list, and phonebook entries.

End Call / Exit / Switch Handset on/off: Press to end a call. When viewing lists or in the menu, press to exit and return to standby. Press and hold for 3 seconds to switch the handset on / off.

# / Pause: Press and hold to enter a pause (P) when pre-dialing or storing numbers. Dial a #.

When the handset is switched on and in standby mode:

1. Press MENU/OK to open the main menu.

2. Then use the Up or Down buttons to scroll through the available options.

3. Press MENU/OK to select an option. To return to the previous menu level, press the Back (<) button. To exit the menu and return to standby mode, press the End Call button.

Note: If no buttons are pressed for 30 seconds, the handset returns to standby mode automatically.

Switch the handset on / off

Press and hold the End Call button to switch the handset on or off.

Make a call

1. Press the Talk button.

2. When you hear the dial tone, dial the number.

Preparatory dialling

1. Dial the number first. If you make a mistake, press the Back (<) button to delete the last digit.

2. Press the Talk button to dial.

Receive a call

When you receive an external call, the phone rings and the Incoming Call icon flashes. Press the Talk button to answer. If Auto answer is on, simply lift the handset from the base to answer.

End a call

Press the End Call button or place the handset back on the base or charger.

Adjust the earpiece volume

During a call, press the Up or Down button to increase or decrease the volume. There are 5 levels to choose from.

Mute a call

1. During a call, press the Back (<) button. The display shows Mute on and your caller cannot hear you.

2. Press the Back (<) button again to resume your call.

Make an internal call

1. If only 2 handsets are registered, press and hold the * (INT) key and the other handset rings automatically.

2. If more than 2 handsets are registered, press and hold * (INT), scroll to the desired handset number, then press MENU/OK.

Transfer an external call

During an external call, follow the steps for making an internal call. When the other handset answers, press the End Call button to complete the transfer.

Hold a 3-way conference call

1. During an external call, follow the steps for making an internal call.

2. When the other handset answers, press MENU/OK to connect all three callers to begin the conference call.

3. Press the End Call button to end the call.

Make a hands-free call

1. Press the Talk button twice, then dial the number. The hands-free icon is displayed.

2. To switch between earpiece and loudspeaker, press the Talk button.

3. Press the End Call button to end the call.

Answer a call hands-free

When the phone rings, press the Talk button twice to answer the call on the loudspeaker.

Switch to hands-free during a call

1. During a call, press the Talk button to put the call on the loudspeaker.

2. To switch hands-free off and return the call to the earpiece, press the Talk button again.

The last 10 entries dialled are stored in the redial list.

View or dial an entry

1. Press the Down button to open the redial list.

2. Scroll Up or Down to the entry you want.

3. Press the Talk button to dial the displayed entry or press the End Call button to return to standby.

Copy a Redial list number to the phonebook

1. Open the redial list and scroll to the entry you want.

2. Press MENU/OK. The display shows Save number.

3. Press MENU/OK again. The display shows Enter name.

4. Enter the name and press MENU/OK. The number is displayed.

5. Edit the number if necessary, then press MENU/OK. The number is stored.

Delete a redial entry or the entire list

1. Open the redial list.

2. To delete one entry, scroll to it, press MENU/OK, scroll to Delete, press MENU/OK, then press MENU/OK to confirm.

3. To delete the entire list, press MENU/OK, scroll to Delete all, press MENU/OK, then press MENU/OK to confirm.

You can use the paging feature to locate a missing handset.

1. Press the paging button (with a handset icon) on the underside of the base. All handsets registered to the base will ring.

2. To stop the ringing, press the paging button on the base again or press any button on the handset.

You can store up to 100 names and numbers.

Store a name and number

1. Press MENU/OK. The display shows Phonebook.

2. Press MENU/OK, scroll to Add new.

3. Press MENU/OK. The display shows Enter name.

4. Enter the name and press MENU/OK. The display shows Enter number.

5. Enter the number and press MENU/OK to save.

View or dial an entry

1. Press the Contact list button (down arrow on navigation ring) or press MENU/OK, select Phonebook, then View.

2. Scroll to the entry you want, or enter the first letter of the name to search alphabetically.

3. Press the Talk button to dial the number.

Edit a name and number

1. Press MENU/OK, select Phonebook.

2. Scroll to Edit and press MENU/OK.

3. Scroll to the entry you want to edit and press MENU/OK.

4. Edit the name using the Back (<) button to delete characters, then press MENU/OK.

5. Edit the number, then press MENU/OK to save.

This feature requires a subscription to your network provider’s Caller ID Service. You can block up to 100 numbers.

Switch anonymous call block on/off

1. Press the Call block button (X) or navigate to Call block in the menu.

2. The display shows Anonymous call. Press MENU/OK.

3. Press Up or Down to select On or Off.

4. Press MENU/OK to confirm.

Block numbers manually

1. Go to the Call block menu and scroll to Block list. Press MENU/OK.

2. Scroll to Block number and press MENU/OK.

3. Scroll to Add new and press MENU/OK.

4. Enter the number you wish to block and press MENU/OK to save.

Manage the block list (View, Edit, Delete)

1. Go to the Call block > Block list > Block number menu.

2. From here you can select View, Edit, or Delete to manage the numbers in your list. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the action.

Switch block mode on/off

1. Go to the Call block > Block list menu.

2. The display shows Block mode. Press MENU/OK.

3. Select On or Off and press MENU/OK to confirm.

The Calls list stores details of the last 50 received calls. This feature requires a subscription to Caller ID service.

View the Calls list

1. Press the Up button to open the Calls list. If the list is empty, it will show List empty.

2. Press Up or Down to scroll through the list.

3. To view details like time and date, scroll to an entry, press MENU/OK, then press MENU/OK again to switch between name and number.

Dial a number from the Calls list

Scroll to the desired entry in the Calls list and press the Talk button.

Save a number to the phonebook or blacklist

1. Open the Calls list and scroll to the number you want.

2. Press MENU/OK.

3. Scroll to either Save number (for phonebook) or Block number (for blacklist) and press MENU/OK. Follow the on-screen prompts.

Delete an entry or the entire list

1. Open the Calls list and scroll to the number you want.

2. Press MENU/OK, scroll to Delete, and press MENU/OK to confirm.

3. To delete the entire list, press MENU/OK after opening the list, scroll to Delete all, and press MENU/OK to confirm.

Set the alarm

1. Press MENU/OK, scroll to Clock/Alarm.

2. Press MENU/OK, scroll to Set alarm and press MENU/OK.

3. Press Up or Down to select On or Off and press MENU/OK.

4. If you select On, enter the time (HH:MM) e.g. 06:30.

5. Press MENU/OK to confirm.

Switch off the alarm ring

When the alarm sounds, press any button to stop the ringing or press any of the snooze keys (*, #, 0) to snooze the alarm, which will ring again after 10 minutes.

Navigate to Personal set in the main menu to adjust the following settings:

• Handset tones: Adjust Ring volume (5 levels + Off), select a Ring tone (10 melodies), turn Key tone On/Off, Docking tone On/Off, and Battery tone On/Off.

• Handset name: Set a personalized name for each handset (up to 13 characters).

• Language: Select your preferred language for the display.

• Auto answer: Turn On or Off the feature to answer a call by lifting the handset from the base.

• Auto hang-up: Turn On or Off the feature to end a call by placing the handset on the base.

For each setting, navigate to the option, press MENU/OK, make your selection using the Up/Down keys, and press MENU/OK to confirm.

You can register up to 4 handsets to your DOT20 base.

Register an additional handset

1. On the base: Press and hold the paging button for 5 seconds. The base will enter registration mode for 90 seconds.

2. On the handset: Press MENU/OK, scroll to Advanced set, and press MENU/OK. Scroll to Register and press MENU/OK.

3. The display will ask for the PIN. Enter the 4-digit PIN code (default = 0000) and press MENU/OK.

4. You will hear a beep if the registration is successful.

Deregister a handset

You must use one handset to deregister another.

1. On a working handset, press MENU/OK, scroll to Advanced set, and press MENU/OK.

2. Scroll to Deregister and press MENU/OK.

3. Enter the 4-digit PIN code (default = 0000).

4. Scroll to select the handset number you want to deregister.

5. Press MENU/OK. You will hear a confirmation beep.

Restoring default settings will delete all entries in the Calls and Redial lists. Phonebook entries will be retained. Registered handsets will remain registered.

1. Press MENU/OK, scroll to Advanced set, and press MENU/OK.

2. Scroll to Reset and press MENU/OK.

3. The display shows Confirm?. Press MENU/OK to confirm.

4. Your phone will restart automatically. You will then be prompted to set the date and time.

• Use only the supplied telephone line cord.

• Make sure that the telephone line cord is properly connected.

• Make sure that the power plug is securely connected and switched on.

• Make sure that the batteries are correctly inserted and fully charged. Use only the approved rechargeable batteries supplied.

• Make sure that the handset is switched on. Press and hold the End Call button.

• Reset the base by removing the handset batteries and disconnecting the power supply. Wait for about 15 seconds before connecting it again. Allow up to 1 minute for the handset and base to synchronize.

• The handset is out of range. Move it closer to the base.

• Make sure that the handset is registered to the base.

• Make sure that the power plug is properly connected and switched on.

• Adjust the handset slightly on the base.

• Clean the charging contacts with a cloth moistened with alcohol.

• Make sure that the power plug is properly connected and switched on.

• The battery is full. When the handset is fully charged, the full battery icon will appear steadily on the display.

• You can register up to a maximum of 4 handsets to a DOT20 base. You must deregister a handset in order to register a new one.

• Make sure that you have entered the correct PIN code (default = 0000).

• Make sure that you are at least one metre away from other electrical equipment to avoid interference when registering the handset.

• If the display shows Searching, you must deregister an existing handset in order to register a new one.

• The handset ringer volume may have been set to Off.

• Increase the volume.

• Make sure the Call Block mode is turned off.

• Place your phone at least one metre away from electrical appliances or any metal obstructions to avoid any risk of interference.

• Your base or charger cradle may be too close. Move it as far away as possible.

Cleaning

• Clean the handset and base (or charger) with a damp (not wet) cloth, or an anti-static wipe.

• Never use household polish as this will damage the product. Never use a dry cloth as this may cause static shock.

Environmental

• Do not expose to direct sunlight.

• Do not place your product on carpets or other surfaces which generate fibres, or place it in locations preventing the free flow of air over its surfaces.

• Do not submerge any part of your product in water and do not use it in damp or humid conditions, such as bathrooms.

• Do not expose your product to fire, explosives or other hazardous conditions.
