If you smell gas, follow these safety instructions carefully:

1. Do not try to light a match or cigarette, or turn on any gas or electrical appliance.

2. Do not touch any electrical switch; do not use any phone in your building.

3. Clear the room, building, or area of all occupants.

4. Immediately call your gas supplier from a neighbor’s phone. Follow the gas supplier’s instructions carefully.

5. If you cannot reach your gas supplier, call the fire department.

Under certain conditions, hydrogen gas can be produced in a water heater that has not been used for two weeks or more. This gas can be explosive. If the hot water has not been used for two weeks or more, prevent the possibility of damage or injury by turning on all hot water faucets and allowing them to run for several minutes. Do this before using any electrical appliance connected to the hot water system, such as your MABE GE MKTG15DNAWB. This simple procedure will allow any built-up hydrogen gas to escape. Since the gas is flammable, do not smoke or use an open flame or appliance during this process.

For proper operation and safety, follow these exhaust requirements:

1. Gas dryers must be exhausted to the outside.

2. Use only rigid metal 4″ diameter ductwork inside the dryer cabinet. For exhausting to the outdoors, use only rigid metal or flexible metal 4″ diameter ductwork. Never use plastic or other combustible, easy-to-puncture ductwork.

To ensure a safe laundry area, please follow these guidelines:

• Keep the area underneath and around your appliance free of combustible materials (lint, paper, rags, etc.), gasoline, chemicals, or other flammable vapors and liquids.

• Keep the floor around your appliance clean and dry to reduce the possibility of slipping.

• Keep all laundry aids (detergents, bleaches, etc.) out of the reach of children, preferably in a locked cabinet. Observe all warnings on container labels to avoid injury.

• Never climb on or stand on the Stacked Unit – Laundry Center.

• Do not allow children to climb on, hang from, stand on, or play on or in the appliance. Close supervision of children is necessary.

• Do not store items that may burn or melt (such as clothing, paper, plastics, etc.) on top of the appliance or hang them from the door.

For your safety, do not wash or dry articles that have been cleaned in, washed in, soaked in, or spotted with combustible or explosive substances such as wax, oil, paint, gasoline, degreasers, solvents, or kerosene. These substances give off vapors that may ignite or explode.

Do not dry articles containing rubber, plastic, or similar materials such as padded bras, tennis shoes, galoshes, bath mats, rugs, bibs, baby pants, plastic bags, or pillows, as they may melt or burn. When heated, some rubber materials can, under certain circumstances, produce fire by spontaneous combustion.

Garments labeled “Dry Away from Heat” or “Do Not Tumble Dry” must not be put in the dryer.

Do not dry fiberglass articles in your dryer, as skin irritation could result from remaining particles.

To use the fabric softener dispenser, follow these steps:

1. Make sure the dispenser is securely attached to the agitator.

2. Use only liquid diluted fabric softener. Pour the amount recommended on the package into the dispenser.

3. Add water to the dispenser until it reaches the maximum fill line.

4. Select the FABRIC SOFTENER setting on the control panel for proper dispersion.

Important: Never pour fabric softener directly on clothes, as it may cause stains. Do not pour bleach into the fabric softener dispenser.

To clean the dispenser:

1. Remove the dispenser from the top of the agitator.

2. Separate the dispenser cup from the cover by grasping the top and pushing down on the inside of the cup with your fingers.

3. Soak both the dispenser cup and cover in a solution of 3.8 liters of warm water, 1/4 cup (60 ml) of heavy-duty liquid detergent, and 1 cup (240 ml) of bleach.

4. If necessary, loosen any dirt accumulation with a soft cloth. Do not use a stiff brush.

5. Rinse and reassemble the dispenser. Place it back on the agitator.

The water fill dilutes chlorine bleach as the washer fills for the wash cycle.

1. Check clothing care labels for special instructions.

2. Measure liquid bleach carefully, following instructions on the bottle. Never pour undiluted liquid chlorine bleach directly onto clothes or into the wash basket. Do not pour powdered bleach into the bleach funnel.

3. Before starting the washer, pour the measured amount of bleach directly into the bleach funnel. Avoid splashing or overfilling.

Warning: Do not mix chlorine bleach with ammonia or acids such as vinegar and/or rust remover. Mixing can produce a toxic gas which may cause death.

Sorting: Sort laundry by color (whites, lights, colors), soil level, and fabric type (sturdy cottons, easy care, delicates). Also, separate lint-producing fabrics (terry cloth) from lint-collecting fabrics (corduroy).

Detergent: Add detergent and turn on the washer before adding clothes so the detergent can work effectively. Using too little or too much detergent is a common cause of laundry problems.

Loading: Load the washer with dry items, no higher than the top row of holes in the washer basket. When loading wet items, set the right water level for items to move freely. The water level should just cover the clothes. To add items after the washer has started, lift the lid and submerge them in the water. Make sure bulky items are distributed along the basket wall.

Bulky/Waterproof Items: For waterproof or water-resistant items, use only the Bulky cycle. Do not use other cycles for these items. Do not mix waterproof and non-waterproof items.

Your washer has a knob with 8 main programs designed to better clean and care for your clothes. The table below describes each cycle and its intended use.

Wash Basket: Leave the lid open after washing to allow moisture to evaporate. If you want to clean the basket, use a clean soft cloth dampened with liquid detergent, then rinse. Do not use harsh or gritty cleaners.

Fill Hoses: It is recommended to change the hoses every 5 years.

Exterior: Immediately wipe off any spills. Wipe with a damp cloth. Try not to hit the surface with sharp objects.

Moving and Storage: Ask a service technician to remove water from the drain pump and hoses. Refer to the installation instructions for information on how to reinstall the shipping rod to keep the tub stationary when moving the washer.

Long Vacations: Be sure the water supply is shut off at the faucets. Drain all water from the hoses if the weather will be below freezing.

Your dryer features both automatic and timed cycles.

Automatic More Drying Cycles: During these cycles, the knob will not turn until the thermostat sensor indicates the clothes are dry, then it will automatically turn to the off position.

• High: For regular to heavy cottons. For most loads, select OPTIMUM DRY.

• Sanitized: Do not use for delicate clothing like lycra or sports. Do not put in more than 6 clothes with laces or ribbons. Select for garments with cotton and most white clothes.

• Medium: For synthetics, blends, and items labeled permanent press.

• Low: For delicates, synthetics, and special care knits. For items labeled tumble dry low.

Timed Drying Cycles (Manual): The timer runs during the entire cycle.

• Dewrinkle: For removing wrinkles from items that are clean and very lightly damp.

• Fluff: For freshening or removing lint from already dry clothing.

Exterior: Wipe or dust any spills or washing compounds with a damp cloth. Keep laundry pretreatment soil and stain remover products away from the dryer to prevent damage to the control panel and finishes.

Lint Filter: Clean the filter before each use. Slide the grid out and move your fingers through the filter. If wax buildup occurs from fabric softeners, wash the lint filter with soap and warm water. Dry completely before replacing it. Do not operate the dryer without the lint filter in place. Have a qualified technician vacuum the lint from the dryer once a year.

Exhaust Duct: Inspect and clean the exhaust duct at least once a year to prevent clogging. A partially clogged exhaust can lengthen drying time. To clean:

1. Turn off the electrical supply by disconnecting the plug from the wall socket.

2. Disconnect the duct from the dryer.

3. Vacuum the duct with a hose attachment and reconnect the duct.

Exhaust Hood: With a mirror, make sure the inner flaps of the exhaust hood move freely when operating. Check for any wildlife (birds, insects, etc.) nesting inside.
