4. Immediately call your gas supplier from a neighbor’s phone. Follow the gas supplier’s instructions carefully.

5. If you cannot reach your gas supplier, call the fire department.

To ensure safe operation of your MABE GE ICL2040PSDG, please adhere to the following safety guidelines:

Installation and Environment:

• Properly ground the appliance according to all codes and ordinances.

• Install or store the unit where it will not be exposed to freezing temperatures or weather, which can cause permanent damage.

• Do not store or use gasoline or other flammable vapors and liquids near this or any other appliance.

• Keep the area around the appliance free of combustible materials like lint, paper, rags, gasoline, and chemicals.

• Keep the floor around the appliance clean and dry to reduce the risk of slipping.

Operation:

• Do not mix chlorine bleach with ammonia or acids such as vinegar or rust remover, as this can produce toxic gas.

• Never operate the appliance if it is damaged, has missing parts, or a damaged cord or plug.

• Never reach into the appliance while it is moving. Wait until it has completely stopped before loading, unloading, or adding clothes.

• Do not wash or dry items that have been cleaned with combustible or explosive substances (like wax, oil, paint, gasoline, kerosene, etc.).

• Do not place items exposed to cooking oils in your dryer, as this could cause a chemical reaction leading to a fire.

• Do not dry articles containing rubber, plastic, or similar materials (e.g., padded bras, tennis shoes, bath mats) that may melt or burn.

• Do not dry fiberglass articles in your dryer, as this can cause skin irritation.

• If you have a gas dryer, do not attempt to light the pilot with a match. It has an automatic electronic ignition.

Maintenance:

• Clean the lint filter before each load. Do not use the dryer if the lint screen is not in place.

• Unplug the appliance before performing any maintenance or cleaning (except for removing the lint filter).

• The interior of the machine and the exhaust duct should be cleaned at least once a year by a qualified technician.

Children’s Safety:

• Supervise children closely when the appliance is in use.

• Do not allow children to climb on, hang from, stand on, or play in or on the appliance.

• Keep all laundry aids like detergents and bleaches out of the reach of children.

Follow these steps to use your MABE GE ICL2040PSDG:

Step 1. Add Detergents

Add detergent to the washer. You can also add fabric softener and liquid bleach to their respective dispensers if you are using them.

Step 2. Add Clothing

Place your clothes into the washer tub.

Step 3. Select Options

Select the load size and other desired wash options. Then, select the wash cycle.

Step 4. Start the Cycle

Close the lid and press the START button.

Standard Loads:

Place the load of clothes evenly around the infuser (preferably not over the infuser) so that the load is evenly distributed. Load the washer with dry items no higher than the top row of holes in the washer basket. When loading wet items, set the correct water level to allow them to move freely. The water level should just cover the clothes.

Bulky Items:

To wash bulky items properly, a special accommodation is suggested. Take one end of the item and insert it in a spiral shape, keeping the item arranged around the basket until you reach the other extreme. If the clothes exceed the indicated limit, compress them slightly inward to ensure the volume is below the limit.

Waterproof Items:

For waterproof or water-resistant items (e.g., diaper covers, waterproof bed covers, sleeping bags, waterproof coats), use only the Bulky cycle. Do not use other cycles for these items, as water can become trapped, causing abnormal vibration or potential damage.

The Sanitized cycle is designed to eliminate common bacteria, viruses, and germs found in clothing. For correct operation, you must use hot water. Ensure that there is hot water available in your installation.

1. Put the detergent in the bottom of the tub and then add the clothes.

2. This cycle is best for high-cotton items like towels, jeans, sheets, and bathrobes.

3. For the best performance, set the “Temperature” and “Water Level” knobs to the “Automatic” position.

Selecting Cycles: Turn the main knob to select from the available programs based on the type of clothes you are washing. Each program controls the duration and intensity of the washing process.

Selecting Functions (Personal Touch Mode): Press the “Select” button repeatedly to choose independent functions of the wash cycle. This allows you to perform specific stages like “Wash only,” “Rinse only,” or “Wash and spin.” The indicator lights will show which functions are selected.

• Wash only: Fills the washer and provides agitation. At the end of the wash stage, the spin light will turn on, but the water will not be drained.

• Rinse only: Drains and spins the wash. Then, it fills the tub with clean water for rinse agitation. The rinse light will stay on at the end without a final drain.

• Only wash and spin: Fills the washer and provides wash agitation. At the end, it will drain the water and spin the clothes to complete the cycle.

Start/Pause: Use this button to start the washer or to pause it during operation. To resume, press the button again.

Your MABE GE ICL2040PSDG washer has several programs designed for different types of laundry.

Using the Dispenser:

The fabric softener dispenser automatically releases liquid fabric softener at the correct time. Do not stop the washer or raise the lid during the first spin, as this will cause the dispenser to empty too soon.

1. Make sure the dispenser is securely attached to the agitator.

2. Use only liquid diluted fabric softener. Pour the recommended amount into the dispenser.

3. Add water to the dispenser until it reaches the maximum fill line.

4. Select the Fabric Softener setting on the control panel for proper dispersion.

Note: Never pour fabric softener directly onto clothes, as it may cause stains. Do not pour bleach into the fabric softener dispenser.

Cleaning the Dispenser:

1. Remove the dispenser from the top of the agitator.

2. Separate the dispenser cup from the cover by grasping the top and pushing down on the inside of the cup with your fingers.

3. Soak both the dispenser cup and cover in a solution of 3.8 liters of warm water, 1/4 cup (60 ml) of heavy-duty liquid detergent, and 1 cup (240 ml) of bleach.

4. If needed, loosen any dirt accumulation with a soft cloth. Do not use a stiff brush.

5. Rinse and reassemble the dispenser, then place it back on the agitator.

The water fill dilutes chlorine bleach as the washer fills for the wash cycle.

1. Check clothing care labels for special instructions.

2. Measure liquid bleach carefully, following the instructions on the bottle.

• Never pour undiluted liquid chlorine bleach directly onto clothes or into the wash basket.

• Do not pour powdered bleach into the bleach funnel.

3. Before starting the washer, pour the measured amount of bleach directly into the bleach funnel. Avoid splashing or overfilling. If you prefer to use powdered bleach, add it to the wash basket with the detergent.

Warning: Do not mix chlorine bleach with ammonia or acids like vinegar, as this can produce toxic gas.

Washer Care:

• Wash Basket: Leave the lid open after washing to allow moisture to evaporate. To clean the basket, use a clean soft cloth dampened with liquid detergent, then rinse. Do not use harsh or gritty cleaners.

• Exterior: Immediately wipe off any spills with a damp cloth. Avoid hitting the surface with sharp objects.

• Fill Hoses: It is recommended to change the fill hoses every 5 years.

Dryer Care:

• Exterior: Wipe or dust any spills with a damp cloth. Be aware that some laundry pretreatment products can damage the control panel and finishes.

• Lint Filter: Clean the filter before each use. To remove wax buildup from fabric softeners, wash the filter with soap and warm water and dry it completely.

• Exhaust Duct: Inspect and clean the exhaust duct at least once a year to prevent clogging, which can lengthen drying time. Turn off the electrical supply, disconnect the duct, vacuum it, and reconnect it.

• Exhaust Hood: Use a mirror to ensure the inner flaps of the hood move freely. Check for any nesting wildlife (birds, insects, etc.).

Automatic Drying Cycles:

These cycles automatically determine fabric dryness. The knob will not turn until the thermostat sensor indicates the clothes are dry. Select “Less Dry” if you want clothes slightly damp at the end, or “More Dry” for drier results.

• High: For regular to heavy cottons. Select OPTIMUM DRY for most loads.

• Medium: For synthetics, blends, and permanent press items.

• Low: For delicates, synthetics, and special care knits.

• Sanitized: For garments with cotton or cotton blends. Do not use for delicate clothing like lycra or sports synthetics.

Timed Drying Cycles (Manual):

These cycles run for a selected amount of time.

• Dewrinkle: For removing wrinkles from clean items that are very lightly damp.

• Fluff: For freshening or removing lint from already dry clothing.

Here are the recommended load sizes for your MABE GE ICL2040PSDG.

There are several possible causes for water leaks:

• Improperly connected hoses: Make sure the fill and drain hose connections are tight at the faucets and the washer. Ensure the end of the drain hose is correctly inserted and secured to the drain facility.

• Clogged household drain: Check your household plumbing. You may need to call a plumber.

• Constant pressure on hoses: Tighten hoses at the faucets and turn the water off after each use. Check the condition of the fill hoses; they should be replaced every 5 years.

• Kinked or improperly connected drain hose: Straighten the drain hose and make sure the washer is not sitting on it. The top of the drain outlet should be less than 8 ft (2.5 m) above the floor.

If your washer won’t start, check the following:

• Washer is unplugged: Make sure the power cord is plugged securely into a working outlet.

• Water supply is off: Turn both hot and cold faucets fully on.

• Controls are not set properly: Check the control settings.

• Lid is open: The safety feature prevents agitation and spinning when the lid is open. Close the lid and restart the cycle.

• Circuit breaker/fuse is tripped: Check the house circuit breakers or fuses. Replace fuses or reset the breaker. The washer should have a separate outlet.

• Electronics need a reset: Unplug the washer, wait 2 minutes, plug it back in, and press START.

• START was not pressed: Press the START button.

• Lid magnet is missing: If the magnet is missing, call for service.

If your clothes are too wet, the incorrect spin cycle may have been selected. Make sure the spin cycle selected matches the load you are washing. Note that some fabrics will feel wetter when rinsed with cold water.

Colored Spots:

• Incorrect use of fabric softener: Check the fabric softener package for instructions and follow directions for using the dispenser.

• Dye transfer: Separate whites or lightly colored items from dark colors.

Grayed or Yellowed Clothes:

• Insufficient detergent: Use more detergent, especially for larger loads, following the manufacturer’s directions.

• Hard water: Use a water conditioner or install a water softener.

• Water is not hot enough: Make sure your water heater is delivering water at 120°F – 140°F (48°C – 60°C).

• Dye transfer: Sort clothes by color. If a fabric label states to wash separately, it may indicate unstable dyes.

Lint or residue on clothes can be caused by several factors:

• Incorrect sorting: Separate lint-producing fabrics (like chenille) from lint-collecting fabrics (like corduroy).

• Air or line drying: If you do not use a clothes dryer, your clothes may retain more lint.

• Washing too long: Wash small loads for a shorter time than larger loads.

• Detergent not dissolving: Add detergent as the basket is filling with water before loading clothes. Try a liquid detergent or use warmer water.

• Overloading: Load clothes loosely, no higher than the top row of holes in the washer basket.

If the dryer doesn’t start:

• Dryer is unplugged: Make sure the dryer plug is pushed completely into the outlet.

• Fuse is blown/circuit breaker is tripped: Check the house fuse/circuit breaker box. Most electric dryers use 2 fuses/breakers.

If the dryer doesn’t heat:

• Fuse is blown/breaker is tripped: The dryer may run but not heat if one fuse is blown or one breaker is tripped. Check the fuse/breaker box and replace both fuses or reset both breakers.

• Gas service is off (for gas models): Make sure the main and dryer gas taps are completely open.

Several factors can cause long drying times:

• Improper sorting: Separate heavy items from lightweight items. A well-sorted washer load is a well-sorted dryer load.

• Large loads of heavy fabrics: Large, heavy fabrics contain more moisture and take longer to dry. Separate them into smaller loads.

• Lint filter is full: Clean the lint filter before each load.

• Improper or obstructed ducting: Check installation instructions for proper venting. Make sure the ducting is clean, free of kinks, and unobstructed. Also, check that the outside wall damper operates easily.

• Overloading: Do not put more than one washer load in the dryer at a time.

To Reduce Wrinkles:

• Overdrying: Select a shorter drying time. Remove items while they still hold a slight amount of moisture by selecting LESS DRY or DAMP DRY.

• Letting items sit in the dryer: Remove items as soon as the cycle finishes and fold or hang them immediately.

• Overloading: Separate large loads into smaller ones.

To Reduce Static:

• No fabric softener was used: Try using a fabric softener.

• Overdrying: Try a fabric softener and set the dryer to LESS DRY or DAMP DRY.

• Synthetics and blends: These fabrics can cause static. Try using a fabric softener.
