If you smell gas, follow these steps for your safety:

1. Do not try to light a match or cigarette, or turn on any gas or electrical appliance.

2. Do not touch any electrical switch; do not use any phone in your building.

3. Clear the room, building, or area of all occupants.

4. Immediately call your gas supplier from a neighbor’s phone. Follow the gas supplier’s instructions carefully.

5. If you cannot reach your gas supplier, call the fire department.

Under certain conditions, hydrogen gas may be produced in a water heater that has not been used for two weeks or more. Hydrogen gas can be explosive under these circumstances.

If the hot water has not been used for two weeks or more, prevent the possibility of damage or injury by turning on all hot water faucets and allowing them to run for several minutes. Do this before using any electrical appliance connected to the hot water system. This simple procedure will allow any built-up hydrogen gas to escape.

Since the gas is flammable, do not smoke or use an open flame or appliance during this process.

Proper Installation:

• Properly ground the appliance to conform with all codes and ordinances.

• Install or store where it will not be exposed to temperatures below freezing or exposed to the weather, which could cause permanent damage and invalidate the warranty.

• Connect to a properly rated, protected, and sized power supply circuit to avoid electrical overload.

• Remove all sharp packing items and dispose of all shipping materials properly.

Exhaust/Ducting for Dryer:

• Gas dryers must be exhausted to the outside.

• Use only rigid metal 4″ diameter ductwork inside the dryer cabinet. Use only rigid metal conductor or flexible metal 4″ diameter ductwork for exhausting to the outdoors. Never use plastic or other combustible, easy-to-puncture ductwork.

Your Laundry Area:

• Keep the area underneath and around your appliances free of combustible materials (lint, paper, rags, etc.), gasoline, chemicals, or other flammable vapors and liquids.

• Keep the floor around your appliances clean and dry to reduce the possibility of slipping.

• Keep all laundry aids (such as detergents, bleaches, etc.) out of the reach of children, preferably in a locked cabinet. Observe all warnings on container labels to avoid injury.

• Never climb on or stand on the Stacked Unit – Laundry Center.

• Do not allow children to climb on, hang from, stand on, or play on or in the appliance.

• Do not store items that may burn or melt on top of the appliance or hang them from the door.

• Do not mix chlorine bleach with ammonia or acids such as vinegar and/or rust remover, as it can produce a toxic gas.

• Never attempt to operate this appliance if it is damaged, malfunctioning, or has missing/broken parts.

• Never reach into the appliance while it is moving.

• Wait until the machine has completely stopped before loading, unloading, or adding clothes.

• Clean the dryer’s lint filter before each load. Do not use the dryer if the lint screen is not in place.

• Do not wash or dry articles spotted with combustible or explosive substances (wax, oil, paint, gasoline, etc.).

• Do not place items exposed to cooking oils in your dryer as this could cause a clothes load to catch fire.

• Articles cleaned with solvents or containing flammable materials must not be placed in or near the appliance until the substances have been removed.

• Do not dry articles containing rubber, plastic, or similar materials like padded bras, tennis shoes, or bath mats, as they may melt or burn.

• Do not dry fiberglass articles in your dryer, as it can cause skin irritation.

• To minimize electric shock risk, unplug the appliance before any maintenance or cleaning (except for the lint filter).

• If you have a gas dryer, do not attempt to light it with a match.

• Fire Hazard: Do not dry articles containing foam rubber, latex, or flammable materials like cleaning fluids, waxes, and solvents.

• Grasp the plug firmly when disconnecting the appliance to avoid cord damage.

• Turn off water faucets to relieve pressure on hoses and valves and to minimize leakage. It is recommended to change the fill hoses every 5 years.

• Before discarding the appliance, remove the washer and dryer lids to prevent children from hiding inside.

• Do not attempt to repair or replace any part of the appliance unless specifically recommended in the owner’s manual.

Step 1: Add Laundry Products

• Add detergent to the washer basket.

• If desired, add liquid bleach to the bleach dispenser and fabric softener to the fabric softener dispenser.

Step 2: Add Clothing

• Add your sorted laundry to the washer basket.

Step 3: Select Cycles

• Select the desired wash cycle by turning the cycle knob.

• Select the load size and other wash options as needed.

Step 4: Start the Washer

• Close the lid.

• Press the START button.

Place the load of clothes evenly around the infuser (preferably not over the infuser) so that the load is evenly distributed. The machine starts the wash cycle by turning the basket to accommodate the load for better cycle development.

Bulky Items: To wash bulky items properly, a special accommodation is suggested. Take one end and insert it in a spiral shape, keeping the clothes arranged around the basket until you reach the other extreme. If the clothes exceed the indicated limit, you must compress them slightly inside, making sure the volume is below the limit. Use the Bulky cycle for waterproof and water-resistant items. DO NOT mix waterproof and non-waterproof items.

The Sanitized cycle is designed to eliminate common bacteria, viruses, and germs found in clothing. For correct operation, you must use hot water; ensure your home has a hot water supply connected to the installation.

1. Put the detergent in the bottom of the tub and then add the clothes.

2. This cycle is ideal for high-cotton items like towels, jeans, sheets, and bathrobes.

3. For best performance, set the “Temperature” and “Water Level” knobs to the “Automatic” position.

1. Selecting Cycles: Turn the knob to select from the available programs depending on the type of clothes you are washing. Each program controls the duration and intensity of the washing process.

2. Temperatures: Select the water temperature for the wash and rinse cycles using the Temperature knob.

3. Water Level: There are 4 water levels and one automatic sensor. Select the one you need or let the automatic sensor do it for you.

4. Selecting Functions: Press the select button repeatedly to choose independent functions of the wash cycle or combinations of stages (e.g., wash only, rinse only, wash and spin). The lights will turn on to indicate the selected functions.

5. Start/Pause: Use this button to start the washer or to pause it once in operation. To resume, press the button again.

You can use the “Personal Touch Mode” to select specific stages of the wash cycle independently.

eco: This function activates water consumption to decrease the amount of water in the cycle. Selecting this stage activates the water-saving function.

Wash only: This function will fill the washer and then provide agitation. At the end of the wash stage, the spin light will turn on, without draining the water.

Rinse only: Drains and spins the wash; while the spin light is on, it will then fill the tub with clean water and provide rinse agitation. It will not drain the water at the end, and the rinse light will stay on.

Only wash and rise: It will fill the washer and provide wash agitation. Then, it will drain the water, the spin light will come on, and it will fill the tub with clean water for rinse agitation. It will not drain the water at the end of the cycle; the Rinse light will stay on.

Only wash and spin: This function will fill the washer and provide wash agitation. At the end, it will drain the water and spin the clothes to complete the cycle. The spin light will stay on.

Only rise and spin: This function will drain the water. The spin light will turn on and the tub will be filled with clean water for rinse agitation, and then drain the water and spin the clothing.

The fabric softener dispenser automatically releases liquid fabric softener at the proper time during the cycle. Do not stop the washer or raise the lid during the first spin, as this will cause the dispenser to empty too soon.

1. Make sure the dispenser is securely attached to the agitator.

2. Use only liquid diluted fabric softener. Pour into the dispenser using the amount recommended on the package. Never pour fabric softener directly on clothes, as it may stain them.

3. Add water to the dispenser until it reaches the maximum fill line.

4. Select the FABRIC SOFTENER setting on the control panel for proper dispersion.

1. Remove the dispenser from the top of the agitator.

2. Separate the dispenser cup from the cover by grasping the top and pushing down on the inside of the cup with your fingers. The dispenser cup will pop free from the cover.

3. To clean the dispenser, soak both the dispenser cup and cover in the following solution:

• 3.8 liters of warm water

• 1/4 cup (60 ml) of heavy-duty liquid detergent

• 1 cup (240 ml) of bleach

4. If necessary, loosen any accumulated dirt with a clean, soft cloth after soaking. Do not use a stiff brush, as it may roughen the dispenser’s surface.

5. Rinse and reassemble the dispenser, then place it back on the agitator.

The water fill dilutes chlorine bleach as the washer fills for the wash cycle.

1. Check clothing care labels for special instructions.

2. Measure liquid bleach carefully, following instructions on the bottle. Never pour undiluted liquid chlorine bleach directly onto clothes or into the wash basket. Do not pour powdered bleach into the bleach funnel.

3. Before starting the washer, pour the measured amount of bleach directly into the bleach funnel. Avoid splashing or overfilling.

Warning: Do not mix chlorine bleach with ammonia or acids such as vinegar and/or rust remover. Mixing can produce a toxic gas which may cause death.

Sorting Wash Loads: Sort by color (whites, lights, colors), soil level, and fabric type (sturdy cottons, easy care, delicates). Also, separate fabrics that produce lint (terry cloth) from those that collect lint (velveteen).

Proper Use of Detergent: Add detergent and turn on the washer before adding clothes so the detergent can work effectively. Using too little or too much detergent is a common cause of laundry problems. You can use less detergent if you have soft water, a smaller load, or a lightly soiled load.

Loading the Washer: Load the washer with dry items, no higher than the top row of holes in the washer basket. When loading wet items, set the right water level for items to move freely. The water level should just cover the clothes. To add items after the washer has started, lift the lid and submerge them in the water. Ensure bulky items are distributed along the basket wall.

Wash Basket: Leave the lid open after washing to allow moisture to evaporate. To clean the basket, use a clean soft cloth dampened with liquid detergent, then rinse. Do not use harsh or gritty cleaners.

Fill Hoses: It is recommended to change hoses every 5 years.

Exterior: Immediately wipe off any spills with a damp cloth. Try not to hit the surface with sharp objects.

Long Vacations: Be sure the water supply is shut off at the faucets. Drain all water from the hoses if the weather will be below freezing.

Automatic Drying Cycles:

During the automatic drying cycle, the knob will not turn until the thermostat sensor indicates the clothes are dry; then the knob will automatically turn to the OFF position. Automatic cycles determine fabric dryness. Select “less dry” if you want clothes slightly damp at the end, and “more dry” if you want them to be more dry.

• High/Sanitized: For regular to heavy cottons. For most loads, select OPTIMUM DRY. Do not use for delicate clothing like lycra or sports. Do not put in more than 6 items with laces or ribbons.

• Medium: For synthetics, blends, and items labeled permanent press.

• Low: For delicates, synthetics, and special care knits. For items labeled tumble dry low.

Timed Drying Cycles (Manual):

The timer runs for the entire selected time.

• Dewrinkle: For removing wrinkles from items that are clean and very lightly damp.

• Fluff: For freshening or removing lint from already dry clothing.

Exterior: Wipe or dust any spills or washing compounds with a damp cloth. Keep laundry pretreatment products away from the dryer, as they can damage the control panel and finishes.

The Lint Filter: Clean the filter before each use. Slide the grid out and move your fingers through the filter to remove lint. A wax buildup may form from fabric softeners; to remove this, wash the lint filter with soap and warm water. Dry it completely before replacing. Do not operate the dryer without the lint filter and grid in place. Have a qualified technician vacuum the lint from the dryer once a year.

The Exhaust Duct: Inspect and clean the exhaust duct at least once a year to prevent clogging. A partially clogged exhaust can lengthen drying time. To clean:

1. Turn off the electrical supply by disconnecting the plug from the wall socket.

2. Disconnect the duct from the dryer.

3. Vacuum the duct with a hose attachment and reconnect it.

The Exhaust Hood: With a mirror, make sure the inner flaps of the exhaust hood move freely when operating. Ensure there is no wildlife (birds, insects, etc.) nesting inside the duct or hood.

For the best drying performance, the dryer needs to be properly vented. The dryer will use more energy and run longer if ventilation does not meet the following specifications:

• Use only rigid metal 4″ diameter material for the duct inside the dryer cabinet.

• Use only rigid or flexible metal 4″ diameter material approved by UL for the duct of the exhaust leading to the outside.

• Do not use plastic or other combustible ductwork.

• Use the shortest length possible.

• Do not crush or collapse the duct.

• Avoid resting the duct on sharp objects.

• Venting must conform to local building codes.

This is likely due to using too much detergent. Measure detergent carefully. Use less soap if you have soft water, a smaller load, or a lightly soiled load.

There are a few possible causes for water leaks:

• Improperly connected hoses: Make sure the fill and drain hose connections are tight at the faucets and washer, and that the end of the drain hose is correctly inserted and secured to the drain facility.

• Clogged household drain: Check your household plumbing. You may need to call a plumber.

• Constant pressure on hoses: Tighten hoses at the faucets and turn the water off after each use. Check the condition of the fill hoses; they should be replaced every 5 years.

• Kinked or improperly connected drain hose: Straighten the drain hose and make sure the washer is not sitting on it. The top of the drain outlet should be less than 8 ft (2.5 m) above the floor.

• Water supply turned off or improperly connected: Turn hot and cold faucets completely on and make sure hoses are connected to the correct faucets.

• Clogged mesh filters: Turn off the water source and remove the connection hoses from the upper back of the washer. Use a brush to clean the washer valves. Reconnect the hoses and turn the water back on.

• House water heater not properly set: Make sure the house water heater is delivering water at 120°F–140°F (48°C–60°C).

If your washer won’t operate, check the following:

• Washer is unplugged: Make sure the cord is plugged securely into a working outlet.

• Water supply is turned off: Turn both hot and cold faucets fully on.

• Controls are not set properly: Check the controls.

• Lid is open: The safety feature prevents agitation and spinning when the lid is open. Close the lid and restart the cycle.

• Circuit breaker/fuse is tripped/blown: Check the house circuit breakers/fuses. The washer should have a separate outlet.

• Electronics need to be reset: Unplug the washer, wait 2 minutes, plug it back in, and press START.

• START was not pressed: Press the START button.

This is caused by an incorrect spin cycle being selected. Make sure the spin cycle selected matches the load you are washing. Some fabrics will feel wetter when rinsed with cold water.

Colored Spots:

• Incorrect use of fabric softener can cause spotting. Check the fabric softener package for instructions.

• Dye transfer can occur. Separate whites or lightly colored items from dark colors.

Grayed or Yellowed Clothes:

• Insufficient amount of detergent.

• Hard water. Use a water conditioner or install a water softener.

• Water is not hot enough. Ensure your water heater is delivering water at 120°F – 140°F.

• Washer is overloaded.

• Dye transfer from other items.

• Incorrect sorting: Separate lint producers (like chenille) from lint collectors (like corduroy).

• Washing too long: Wash small loads for a shorter time than larger loads.

• Detergent not dissolving: Add detergent as the basket is filling with water, before loading clothes. Try a liquid detergent and use warmer water.

• Overloading: Load clothes loosely, no higher than the top row of holes in the washer basket.

• Incorrect use of fabric softener: Check the fabric softener package for instructions.

Pilling: This is a result of normal wear on poly-cotton blends and fuzzy fabrics. While not caused by the washer, you can slow the pilling process by washing garments inside out.

Snags, Holes, Tears: This can be caused by pins, sharp buttons, zippers, and sharp objects left in pockets. Fasten all closures and remove loose items from pockets. Also, turn knits inside out.

Wrinkling:

• Avoid mixing heavy items with light items.

• Try using a fabric softener.

• Do not overload the washer.

• Match the cycle selection to the type of fabric you are washing.

If the dryer doesn’t start:

• Dryer is unplugged: Make sure the dryer plug is pushed completely into the outlet.

• Fuse is blown/circuit breaker is tripped: Check the house fuse/circuit breaker box. Note that most electric dryers use 2 fuses/breakers.

If the dryer doesn’t heat:

• Fuse is blown/breaker is tripped: Check the house fuse/circuit breaker box and replace both fuses or reset both breakers. The dryer may run but not heat if only one fuse is blown or one breaker is tripped.

• Gas service is off (for gas models): Make sure the main and dryer gas taps are completely open.

Shaking or Noise: Some shaking/noise is normal. The dryer may be on an uneven floor. Move the Laundry Center to an even floor space, or adjust leveling legs as necessary until even.

Greasy Spots on Clothes: This can be caused by improper use of fabric softener or drying dirty items with clean ones. Follow directions on the fabric softener package and only dry clean items.

Lint on Clothes:

• Lint filter is full: Clean the lint screen before each load.

• Improper sorting: Sort lint producers (like chenille) from lint collectors (like corduroy).

• Overloading: Separate large loads into smaller ones.

• Paper, tissue, etc. left in pockets: Empty all pockets before laundering clothes.

Static Occurs:

• No fabric softener was used: Try a fabric softener.

• Overdrying: Try a fabric softener and set the dryer to LESS DRY or DAMP DRY.

• Synthetics, permanent press, and blends: These fabrics can cause static. Try a fabric softener.

Clothes Take Too Long to Dry:

• Improper sorting: Separate heavy items from lightweight items.

• Large loads of heavy fabrics: Separate large, heavy fabrics into smaller loads.

• Improperly set controls: Match control settings to the load you are drying.

• Lint filter is full: Clean the lint filter before each load.

• Improper or obstructed ducting: Check installation instructions for proper ducting/venting. Make sure ducting is clean, free of kinks, and unobstructed.

• Blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker: Check that both fuses/breakers for the dryer are working.

Clothes are Wrinkled:

• Overdrying: Select a shorter drying time. Remove items while they still hold a slight amount of moisture.

• Letting items sit in the dryer: Remove, fold, or hang items immediately after the cycle ends.

• Overloading: Separate large loads into smaller ones.
