If you smell gas, follow these instructions for your safety:

1. Do not try to light a match or cigarette, or turn on any gas or electrical appliance.

2. Do not touch any electrical switch; do not use any phone in your building.

3. Clear the room, building, or area of all occupants.

4. Immediately call your gas supplier from a neighbor’s phone. Follow the gas supplier’s instructions carefully.

5. If you cannot reach your gas supplier, call the fire department.

Under certain conditions, hydrogen gas can be produced in a water heater that has not been used for two weeks or more. Hydrogen gas can be explosive. To prevent injury or damage, if the hot water has not been used for two weeks or more, turn on all hot water faucets and let the water run for several minutes before using any electrical appliance connected to the hot water system. This allows any built-up hydrogen gas to escape. Do not smoke or use an open flame or appliance during this process as the gas is flammable.

For proper installation and safety, please follow these guidelines:

Proper Installation:

• Properly ground the appliance to conform with all codes and ordinances.

• Install or store it where it will not be exposed to temperatures below freezing or to the weather.

• Connect to a properly rated, protected, and sized power supply circuit to avoid electrical overload.

• For gas dryers, they must be exhausted to the outside. Use only rigid metal 4″ diameter ductwork inside the dryer cabinet and for exhausting to the outdoors.

Your Laundry Area:

• Keep the area underneath and around the appliance free of combustible materials like lint, paper, rags, gasoline, or other flammable vapors.

• Keep the floor around the appliance clean and dry.

• Keep all laundry aids (detergents, bleaches, etc.) out of the reach of children, preferably in a locked cabinet.

• Never climb or stand on the appliance.

• Do not allow children to climb on, hang from, or play on or in the appliance.

• Do not store items that may burn or melt on top of the appliance.

Follow these steps to operate your MABE GE CLME70204BBB washer:

Step 1: Add detergent. Add bleach (optional).

Step 2: Add clothing.

Step 3: Select load size and other wash options. Select the wash cycle.

Step 4: Close the lid and press START.

Start to wash: Place the load of clothes evenly around the infuser (preferably not over the infuser) so that the load is evenly distributed. The washing machine starts the cycle by turning the basket to accommodate the load for better cycle development.

Bulky Items: To wash your bulky items properly, a special accommodation is suggested. Take one end and insert it in a spiral shape, trying to keep the clothes arranged around the basket until ending in the other extreme. If the clothes exceed the indicated limit, you must compress them slightly inside, making sure the volume is below the limit.

Waterproof Items: For waterproof, water-resistant items, use only the Bulky cycle. DO NOT use other cycles for items like diaper covers, waterproof bed covers, sleeping bags, or waterproof jackets. Using other cycles can cause abnormal vibration and may result in injury or damage.

Important: DO NOT mix waterproof and non-waterproof items.

The Sanitized cycle is designed to eliminate bacteria, viruses, and germs found in clothing. For correct operation, you must use hot water. Ensure that there is hot water available in your installation.

1. Put the detergent in the bottom of the tub and then add the clothes.

2. This cycle is ideal for high-cotton items like towels, jeans, sheets, and bathrobes.

3. For the best cycle performance, set the “Temperature” and “Water Level” knobs to the “Automatic” position.

Here is a guide to the controls on your MABE GE CLME70204BBB washer:

• 1. Selecting cycles: Turn the knob to select from the available programs depending on the type of clothes you are washing.

• 2. Temperatures: Select the water temperature for the wash and rinse cycles.

• 3. Water level: There are 4 water levels and one automatic sensor. Select the one you need or let the automatic sensor do it for you.

• 4. Selecting functions (Personal touch mode): Press the select button repeatedly to choose independent functions of the wash cycle, such as wash only, rinse only, or wash and spin. The lights will turn on to indicate the selected functions.

• 5. Start/pause: Use this button to start operating your washer or pause it once in operation. To resume, press the button again.

The water fill dilutes chlorine bleach as the washer fills for the wash cycle.

1. Check clothing care labels for special instructions.

2. Measure liquid bleach carefully, following instructions on the bottle. Never pour undiluted liquid chlorine bleach directly onto clothes or into the wash basket. Do not pour powdered bleach into the bleach funnel.

3. Before starting the washer, pour the measured amount of bleach directly into the bleach funnel. Avoid splashing or overfilling.

Warning: Do not mix chlorine bleach with ammonia or acids such as vinegar and/or rust remover. Mixing can produce a toxic gas which may cause death.

Sorting wash loads: Sort by color (whites, lights, colors), soil level, and fabric type (sturdy cottons, easy care, delicates). Also, separate fabrics that produce lint (terry cloth) from those that collect lint (velveteen, corduroy).

Proper use of detergent: Add detergent and turn on the washer before adding items so the detergent can work effectively. Using too little or too much detergent is a common cause of laundry problems. You can use less detergent if you have soft water, a smaller load, or a lightly soiled load.

Loading the washer: Load the washer with dry items, no higher than the top row of holes in the washer basket. When loading wet items, set the right water level for items to move freely. The water level should just cover the clothes. To add items after the washer has started, lift the lid and submerge additional items in the water.

Wash basket: Leave the lid open after washing to allow moisture to evaporate. To clean the basket, use a clean soft cloth dampened with liquid detergent, then rinse. Do not use harsh or gritty cleaners.

Fill hoses: It is recommended to change hoses every 5 years.

Exterior: Immediately wipe off any spills with a damp cloth. Try not to hit the surface with sharp objects.

Moving and storage: Ask a service technician to remove water from the drain pump and hoses. Do not store the washer where it will be exposed to weather.

Long vacations: Be sure the water supply is shut off at the faucets. Drain all water from the hoses if the weather will be below freezing.

a) Automatic more drying cycles:

During the automatic drying cycle, the knob will not turn until the thermostat sensor indicates the clothes are dry; the knob will then automatically turn to the off position.

• Easy Care: For wrinkle-free garments, permanent ironing, and items that need special care when drying.

• Sanitized: Do not use delicate clothing such as lycra, sports, or with a high percentage of synthetic. Do not put in more than 6 clothes that have laces or ribbons. This setting is for garments with cotton, fabrics combined with cotton, and most white clothes.

• Cottons: For garments with cotton, fabrics combined with cotton, and most white garments.

• Delicates: For mostly synthetic clothes, small thin items, baby clothes, or underwear that require special care. This is for garments with labels for drying at low temperatures.

Automatic cycles determine fabric dryness. Select “less dry” if you want clothes slightly damp at the end of the cycle. Select “more dry” if you want them to be more dry.

b) Timed drying cycles (manual):

Timed dry runs for the entire cycle. The timer runs during the entire cycle.

• Dewrinkle: For removing wrinkles from items that are clean and very lightly damp.

• Fluff: For freshening or removing lint from already dry clothing.

Exterior: Wipe or dust any spills with a damp cloth. Dryer control panel and finishes may be damaged by some laundry pretreatment soil and stain remover products. Keep these products away from the dryer.

The lint filter: Clean the filter before each use. Slide the grid that covers the filter out and move your fingers through the filter. It may form wax buildup due to fabric softeners; to remove residue, wash the lint filter with soap and warm water. Dry completely before replacing it. Do not operate the dryer without the lint filter and grid in place. Have a qualified technician vacuum the lint from the dryer once a year.

The exhaust duct: Inspect and clean the exhaust duct at least once a year to prevent clogging. A partially clogged exhaust can lengthen drying time.

The exhaust hood: With a mirror, make sure the inner flaps of the exhaust hood move freely when operating. Make sure there is no wildlife (birds, insects, etc.) nesting inside the duct or hood.

For the best drying performance, the dryer needs to be properly vented. The dryer will use more energy and run longer if ventilation does not meet the following specifications:

• Use only rigid metal 4″ diameter material for the duct inside the dryer cabinet. Use only rigid or flexible metal 4″ diameter material approved by UL for the duct of the exhaust leading to the outside.

• Do not use plastic or other combustible ductwork.

• Use the shortest length possible.

• Do not crush or collapse the duct.

• Avoid resting the duct on sharp objects.

• Venting must conform to local building codes.

If your MABE GE CLME70204BBB is leaking, check the following:

• Fill hoses or drain hose is improperly connected: Make sure hose connections are tight at faucets and the washer. Ensure the end of the drain hose is correctly inserted and secured to the drain facility.

• Household drain may be clogged: Check household plumbing. You may need to call a plumber.

• Constant pressure to hoses at the water source: Tighten hoses at the faucets and turn the water off after each use. Check the condition of fill hoses; they should be replaced every 5 years.

• Dryer doesn’t heat: A fuse may be blown or a breaker tripped; the dryer may still dry but not heat if only one fuse is blown. Check the fuse/breaker box and replace both fuses or reset both breakers. For gas dryers, ensure the gas service is on and the main and dryer taps are completely open.

• Greasy spots on clothes: This can be caused by improper use of fabric softener or drying dirty items with clean ones. Follow directions on the fabric softener package and use your dryer to dry only clean items.

• Lint on clothes: The lint filter may be full, or you may have sorted the load improperly. Clean the lint screen before each load and sort lint producers (like chenille) from lint collectors (like corduroy). Static electricity can also attract lint.

• Static occurs: This is often because no fabric softener was used, the clothes are overdried, or you are drying synthetics and permanent press blends. Try using a fabric softener, set the dryer to LESS DRY or DAMP DRY, and use a fabric softener for static-prone fabrics.

• Clothes take too long to dry: This can be caused by improper sorting, large loads of heavy fabrics, improperly set controls, a full lint filter, or an improper/obstructed duct. Sort heavy and light items, separate large loads into smaller loads, match control settings to the load, clean the lint filter, and check the venting/ducting for obstructions.

• Clothes are wrinkled: This is often due to overdrying, letting items sit in the dryer after the cycle, or overloading. Select a shorter drying time, remove items while they still have a slight amount of moisture, remove clothes immediately after the cycle ends, and separate large loads into smaller ones.

Some fabrics shrink naturally when washed. Others can be safely washed but may shrink in the dryer. To avoid shrinkage, follow garment care labels exactly. Some items may be pressed back into shape after drying. If you are concerned about shrinkage in a particular item, do not wash or dry it.
