If your HIKVISION DS-K1A8503EF-B causes harmful interference, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, you are encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures:

Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.

Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver.

Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected.

Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help.

This equipment should be installed and operated with a minimum distance of 20cm between the radiator and your body.

Dangers

All electronic operations should be in strict compliance with the electrical safety regulations, fire prevention regulations, and other related regulations in your local region.

Please use the power adapter provided by a normal company. The power consumption cannot be less than the required value.

Do not connect several devices to one power adapter as adapter overload may cause overheating or fire hazards.

Ensure the power has been disconnected before you wire, install, or dismantle the device.

When the product is installed on a wall or ceiling, it shall be firmly fixed.

If smoke, odors, or noise rise from the device, turn off the power at once, unplug the power cable, and then contact the service center.

If the product does not work properly, contact your dealer or the nearest service center. Never attempt to disassemble the device yourself.

Cautions

Do not drop the device or subject it to physical shock, and do not expose it to high electromagnetism radiation. Avoid installation on vibrating surfaces or places subject to shock.

Do not place the device in extremely hot, cold, dusty, or damp locations, and do not expose it to high electromagnetic radiation.

The device cover for indoor use shall be kept from rain and moisture.

Exposing the equipment to direct sunlight, low ventilation, or heat sources such as a heater or radiator is forbidden.

Do not aim the device at the sun or extra bright places. Blooming or smearing may occur, affecting the endurance of the sensor.

Use the provided glove when opening the device cover to avoid direct contact, as acidic sweat from fingers may erode the surface coating.

Use a soft and dry cloth when cleaning inside and outside surfaces of the device cover; do not use alkaline detergents.

Keep all wrappers after unpacking for future use. In case of any failure, you need to return the device to the factory with the original wrapper.

Improper use or replacement of the battery may result in a hazard of explosion. Replace with the same or equivalent type only. Dispose of used batteries according to the instructions provided by the battery manufacturer.

To install the device on the wall directly without a gang box, follow these steps:

Step 1. Stick a mounting template on the wall at a required height, and drill 4 holes according to the mounting template.

Step 2. Insert the 4 supplied expansion sleeves of the setscrews into the drilled holes respectively.

Step 3. Fix and fasten the expansion bolts in the expansion sleeves. Reserve 5.2 mm to 5.5 mm of the expansion bolts outside the wall for hanging the device.

Step 4. Align the four holes on the device’s rear panel with the fixed screws and hang the device on the wall.

You should activate the device before the first login. After powering on, the system will switch to the Device Activation page.

Step 1. Create a device password for activation. You can press the up or down key on the keypad to change the input method.

Step 2. Confirm the password.

Step 3. Press OK to activate the device.

It is highly recommended to create a strong password of your own choosing (using a minimum of 8 characters, including at least three of the following categories: upper case letters, lower case letters, numbers, and special characters) to increase the security of your product. After activation, you will enter the administrator adding page.

SADP is a tool to detect, activate, and modify the IP address of the device over the LAN. Ensure the device and the PC running the SADP tool are on the same subnet.

Step 1. Run the SADP software and search for online devices.

Step 2. Find and select your device in the online device list.

Step 3. Input a new password (admin password) and confirm it. It is highly recommended to create a strong password.

Step 4. Click Activate to start the activation. The status of the device will become Active.

Step 5. To modify the IP address, select the device, change the IP address to the same subnet as your computer (either manually or by enabling DHCP), input the admin password, and click Modify.

Select Language

After device activation, you can select a language for the device system. The default language is English. Note that the device will reboot automatically after changing the language.

Add Administrator

After activation and language selection, you are required to add an administrator.

Step 1. Move the cursor and select User New to enter the New page.

Step 2. Enter the new user’s parameters:

ID (Employee ID): By default, the ID No. will increase in sequence. It should be between 1 and 99999999 and not start with 0.

Name: Enter the user name (up to 32 characters).

Card: Swipe a card on the swiping area or enter the card No. manually. Up to 20 digits are allowed.

FP (Fingerprint): On the Fingerprint page, select a target finger and record it according to the voice prompt. Up to 10 fingerprints can be added per user.

PWD (Password): Create and confirm a password for the user (up to 8 characters).

Dept. (Department): Select a department from the list.

Step 3. Press ESC, and select Yes to save the settings.

Local Login

To log in as an administrator, hold OK for 3 seconds to enter the login page. Select FP, Device PWD, or Card, and authenticate to enter the home page.

Set Network

Step 1. Move the cursor and select Comm. Network.

Step 2. Press OK to enter the Network page.

Step 3. Edit the IP address, subnet mask, and gateway. The device’s IP address and the PC’s should be in the same network segment.

Step 4. Optional: Enable DHCP. The system will automatically assign an IP address.

Step 5. Press ESC and select Yes to save the parameters.

Set EHome Parameters

This allows the device to upload data via the EHome protocol. Make sure your device is connected to a network.

Step 1. Move the cursor and select Comm. EHome.

Step 2. Enable the EHome function and set the server parameters:

Center Group 1: Enable this to upload data to the center group.

EHome: Enable this function.

Address Type: Select an address type (e.g., IP Address).

IP Address: Set the EHome server’s IP address.

Port No.: Set the EHome server’s port No.

EHome Version: Select the version. If you choose V5.0, you must create an account and EHome key.

Add Person

Step 1. Move the cursor and select User New to enter the New page.

Step 2. Enter the new user’s parameters: ID, Name, Card, FP (Fingerprint), PWD (Password), Dept. (Department), Auth (Authentication Mode), and Role (Administrator or User).

Step 3. Press ESC, and select Yes to save the settings.

Manage Person (Search/Edit/Delete)

Search User: Select User User, enter the user’s name or employee ID in the search box, and press OK.

Edit User: Select User User, select a user from the list, and press OK. Select Edit User and modify the information as needed.

Delete: You can delete the selected user, delete their password, clear all their fingerprints, or clear all their cards.

You can set the attendance mode as Auto, Manual, Manual and Auto, or Disable. You can set the status as check-in, check-out, break-out, break-in, overtime-in, and overtime-out.

Set Auto Attendance

The system will automatically change the attendance status according to configured parameters.

Step 1. Go to System > Att. Status.

Step 2. Select Attendance Mode and set it as Auto.

Step 3. Press ESC to save.

Step 4. Select Shortcut Key and define the key’s attendance status and schedule.

Step 5. Press ESC and save the settings. Authentications will be marked according to the configured schedule.

Set Manual Attendance

You can select a status manually when you take attendance.

Step 1. Go to System > Att. Status.

Step 2. Select Attendance Mode and set it as Manual.

Step 3. Press ESC to save.

Step 4. Select Shortcut Key and define the key’s attendance status. After pressing a shortcut key, you can authenticate, and it will be marked with the selected status.

Set Manual and Auto Attendance

This mode allows the system to auto-change the status based on the schedule, but also allows you to manually change the status before authentication.

Disable Attendance Mode

The attendance status function is disabled, and you will not view or configure the attendance status on the initial page.

The device supports Normal Shift and Man-Hour Shift.

Set Attendance Rule for Normal Shift

First, set the general attendance rules by going to Shift > Normal Rule. Here you can configure parameters like:

On-work Advanced Time

Latest On-Work Check Time

Absence Time (Late)

Off-Work Early Time

Latest Off-Work Check Time

Absence Time (Early Leave)

Set Normal Shift

Step 1. Go to Shift > Normal to enter the Normal Shift page.

Step 2. Select a shift and press OK.

Step 3. Select Edit and press OK to enter the Edit Shift page.

Step 4. Set the shift name and up to 4 time periods in order.

Step 5. Press ESC and select Yes to save.

Set Man-Hour Shift

Up to 32 man-hour shifts can be configured for situations with flexible working hours.

Step 1. Go to Shift > Man-Hour to enter the Man-Hour page.

Step 2. Select a shift from the list and press OK.

Step 3. Select Edit to enter the Edit Shift page.

Step 4. Edit the shift name, shift duration (work duration), latest on-work time, and break time.

Step 5. Press ESC and select Yes to save.

You can export the attendance record, attendance report, abnormal attendance record, and the attendance management schedule.

Step 1. Plug a USB flash drive (FAT32 format, 1G to 32G memory) into the USB interface.

Step 2. Move the cursor and select Report. Press OK to enter the Report page.

Step 3. Select a report to export.

For attendance record, attendance report, and abnormal attendance record, you need to enter the device No., attendance start date, and end date.

For Attendance Management Schedule, the shift settings table, normal shift schedule table, and man-hour shift schedule table will be exported.

The exported table will be saved in the USB flash drive in Excel format.

Set Time

Go to the Time menu to edit the Date, Time, and DST (Daylight Saving Time) settings.

Manage System Data

Go to System > Data to delete saved data. You can choose to:

Delete Event Only: Deletes all recorded events.

Delete Attendance Data Only: Deletes all attendance data.

Delete User Only: Deletes all user data, including attendance records.

Clear Permission: Clears the admin management permission, turning the admin into a normal user.

Set System Parameters

Go to System > System to edit parameters such as Time Format, Keypad Sound, Voice Prompt, Voice Volume, Sleeping mode, Record over Threshold Prompt, Auth Mode, and Record Delete function.

System Upgrade

Step 1. Plug a USB flash drive with the upgrading file (digicap.dav) in the root directory into the USB interface.

Step 2. Move the cursor and select System > Upgrade.

Step 3. Press OK. The system will read the file and upgrade automatically. Do not power off during the upgrade.

Restore Settings

Go to System > Reset. You can choose:

Factory Settings: All parameters of the device will restore to factory parameters.

Default Settings: All parameters, excluding communication parameters, remote user management, and events, will restore to factory parameters.

Recommended Finger

Use your forefinger, middle finger, or third finger.

Correct Scanning

You should press your finger on the scanner horizontally. The center of your scanned finger should align with the scanner center.

Incorrect Scanning

Avoid placing your finger vertically, on the edge, or to the side of the scanner.

Environment

The scanner should avoid direct high light, high temperature, humid conditions, and rain. When your finger is dry, the scanner may not recognize your fingerprint successfully. You can blow on your finger and scan again after it is no longer overly dry.

Others

If your fingerprint is shallow or hard to scan, it is recommended to use other authentication methods. If you have injuries on the scanned finger, the scanner may not recognize it. You can change to another finger and try again.

Enable Record Delete

You can set the percentage of the attendance record over-threshold prompt.

1. When the record reaches the configured threshold, an alarm “Log will be full, export the report” will be displayed. Card authentication remains available.

2. When the record is full, the same alarm is displayed. The first 3000 attendance records will be deleted automatically to make space for new ones.

Disable Record Delete

1. When the record reaches the threshold, an alarm “Log will be full, export the report” will be displayed. Card authentication remains available.

2. When the record is full, the same alarm is displayed, but no new attendance records will be added. Card authentication remains available.

The HIKVISION DS-K1A8503EF-B can generate several types of reports, with file names following the rule: Device No. + Report Type.xls.

AbnormalAttendance1: The Attendance Abnormal table.

AbnormalAttendance2: A second abnormal attendance table if the first one exceeds 60,000 rows.

AttendanceSummary: The Attendance Summary table.

AttendanceRecord: The Attendance Record table.

AttendanceSchedule: The attendance schedule table.
