For first-time access, you must activate your HIKVISION DS-7108HGHI-F1 by setting an admin password. No operation is allowed before activation.

Before You Start:

Power on your device.

Steps:

1. Select a language.

2. Click Next.

3. Input the same password in the Password and Confirm Password fields. It is highly recommended to create a strong password of your own choosing (using a minimum of 8 characters, including at least three of the following categories: upper case letters, lower case letters, numbers, and special characters) to increase the security of your product.

4. Activate network camera(s) connected to the device.

– Check Use Device Password as Default to use the device password to activate the inactive network camera(s).

– Or, enter a separate password to activate the network camera(s).

5. Optional: Set an email address for password resetting. If you forget your password, you can reset it via email.

1) Check Enable.

2) Enter an email address.

6. Click Activate.

The admin user can configure and use an unlock pattern for quick login after the HIKVISION DS-7108HGHI-F1 is activated.

Set Unlock Pattern:

1. Use the mouse to draw a pattern among the 9 dots on the screen. Release the mouse when the pattern is done.

– The pattern must have at least 4 dots.

– Each dot can be connected only once.

2. Draw the same pattern again to confirm it. When the two patterns match, the pattern is configured successfully.

Log in via Unlock Pattern:

1. Right-click the mouse on the live view interface.

2. Draw the pre-defined pattern to unlock and enter the menu operation.

If you have forgotten your pattern, you can click Forgot My Pattern or Switch User to log in via password. If you draw the wrong pattern more than 5 times, the system will switch to the normal password login mode automatically.

If your HIKVISION DS-7108HGHI-F1 has logged out, you must log in before operating the menu and other functions.

Steps:

1. Select your User Name from the dropdown list (e.g., admin).

2. Input your password.

3. Click Login.

Note: If you forget the admin password, you can click Forgot Password to reset it. If you enter the wrong password 7 times, the user account will be locked for 60 seconds.

When in the live view interface on your HIKVISION DS-7108HGHI-F1, you can position the cursor on a camera to show a shortcut menu and see status icons in the corner of each camera’s view.

Live View Icon Description

You must configure PTZ parameters before controlling a PTZ camera with your HIKVISION DS-7108HGHI-F1.

Configure PTZ Parameters:

1. In live view, click the PTZ control icon on the camera’s shortcut menu.

2. Click PTZ Parameter Settings.

3. Set the PTZ camera parameters such as Baud Rate, Data Bit, Stop Bit, Parity, Flow Ctrl, PTZ Protocol, and Address. All parameters should match the PTZ camera’s settings.

4. Click OK.

PTZ Control Panel:

Customize a Preset:

1. Enter the PTZ control menu for the camera.

2. Select a desired preset number from the list.

3. Use the direction, zoom, and focus buttons to move the camera to the desired location.

4. Click the ‘Set’ icon to save the preset.

To call a preset, double-click it in the preset list.

Customize a Patrol:

1. In the PTZ menu, click the Patrol tab.

2. Select a patrol number and click Set.

3. Click ‘+’ to add a key point. A key point corresponds to a saved preset.

4. Configure the key point parameters: Preset number, Duration (time to stay at the point), and Speed (speed of travel to the next point).

5. Click Apply.

To run a patrol, select it and click Call.

Customize a Pattern:

1. In the PTZ menu, click the Pattern tab.

2. Select a pattern number and click Record.

3. Use the PTZ controls to move the camera. The movement path will be recorded.

4. Click Stop Recording when finished.

To run a pattern, select it and click Call.

The HIKVISION DS-7108HGHI-F1 offers several playback modes.

Normal Playback:

1. Go to the Playback menu.

2. Select a camera from the camera list.

3. Select a date on the calendar. Dates with a blue triangle have available video.

4. Use the timeline to navigate. The blue bar indicates normal video, and the red bar indicates event video.

Smart Playback:

This function helps you find video with motion, line crossing, or intrusion events more easily.

1. Go to Playback and click Smart.

2. Select a camera and date.

3. On the control bar, click the icon for motion, line crossing, or intrusion detection to draw a detection area or line on the screen.

4. The timeline will now show only the video segments that contain the selected smart event within the specified area.

Sub-Periods Playback:

This allows you to play videos from multiple sub-periods simultaneously.

1. Go to Playback and click Sub-periods.

2. Select a camera.

3. Set a start and end time.

4. Select a window division mode (e.g., 4-Period).

5. Click the search icon. The device will divide the total time into equal segments and play them simultaneously in the divided screens.

You can create and export video clips to a backup device (like a USB flash drive) during playback on your HIKVISION DS-7108HGHI-F1.

Before You Start:

Connect a backup device to your video recorder.

Steps:

1. Start playback of the desired video footage.

2. Click the ‘Clip’ icon (scissors) on the playback control bar.

3. Set the start and end time for the clip.

– You can click the ‘Start Clipping’ icon, let the video play, and then click the ‘End Clipping’ icon.

– Alternatively, you can drag the markers on the timeline to define the start and end points of your clip.

4. Click the ‘Backup’ icon (floppy disk) that appears after setting the clip time.

5. Click Export to save the clip to your connected backup device.

You can search for files based on various conditions and perform a quick backup to an external device.

Search and Export File(s):

1. Go to Search.

2. Set your search conditions (e.g., camera, time, event type).

3. Click Search.

4. A list of video files will be displayed. You can:

– Click the play icon to view the video.

– Click the lock icon to protect the file from being overwritten.

– Select one or more files and click Export to save them to a backup device.

Quick Backup:

Before You Start: Connect a backup device to your HIKVISION DS-7108HGHI-F1.

1. Go to Search.

2. Set your search conditions.

3. Click Quick Export.

4. Select the backup device and path.

5. Click OK to start exporting.

The default administrator user (admin) can add, delete, and edit other users on the HIKVISION DS-7108HGHI-F1.

Add User:

1. Go to Configuration → User.

2. Click Add and confirm your admin password.

3. Enter a User Name.

4. Enter the same password in the Password and Confirm fields. Create a strong password for better security.

5. Select a User Level (e.g., Guest, who only has live view, playback, and log search permission).

6. Click OK.

Set Password Resetting Email:

This allows the device to send a verification code to your email if you forget your login password.

1. Go to Configuration → User.

2. Click Password Resetting Email.

3. Enter the admin password for authorization.

4. Enter an email address.

5. Click OK.

Guarding Vision provides a mobile phone application and platform service to access and manage your HIKVISION DS-7108HGHI-F1 remotely.

Steps:

1. Go to Configuration → Network → Platform Access.

2. Select Access Type as Guarding Vision.

3. Check Enable. The service terms will pop up.

1) Scan the QR code to read the service terms and privacy statement.

2) Check I have read and agree to Service Terms and Privacy Statement.

3) Click OK.

4. Optional: Check Stream Encryption. This will require you to enter a verification code for remote access and live view.

5. Enter a code in Verification Code. You can click Refresh to generate a random code.

6. Click Apply.

What to do next:

You can now access your video recorder via the Guarding Vision app.

a. Scan the first QR code displayed on the screen to download the Guarding Vision app.

b. Open the Guarding Vision app and scan the second QR code to add your HIKVISION DS-7108HGHI-F1.

You can add network cameras that are on the same network segment as your HIKVISION DS-7108HGHI-F1. Only activated network cameras can be added.

Activate a Network Camera:

1. Go to Configuration → Camera → IP Camera.

2. The list will show online cameras on the network. If a camera’s status is ‘Inactive’, it needs to be activated.

3. Click on the Inactive status for the desired camera.

4. Set a password for the camera. You can check Use Channel Default Password to use the same password as your recorder, or you can set a custom password.

5. Click OK.

Add Network Camera Automatically (by Device Password):

This method works for cameras that have the same password as your recorder.

1. Go to Configuration → Camera → IP Camera.

2. The list of online cameras will be displayed.

3. Click the ‘+’ icon next to the camera you want to add.

Add Network Camera Manually:

1. Go to Configuration → Camera → IP Camera.

2. Click the Add button.

3. Set the network camera parameters, including IP address, protocol, and management port.

4. Optional: Click Add More to add another network camera.

5. Click OK.

You can configure various smart events to trigger alarms and other actions on your HIKVISION DS-7108HGHI-F1. The general steps are similar for most smart events.

Configure Motion Detection:

1. Go to Configuration → Camera → Smart Event → Motion Detection.

2. Select a camera.

3. Check Enable.

4. Under the Area Settings tab, set the motion detection area. You can click Full Screen or drag on the preview window to draw custom areas.

5. Adjust the Sensitivity slider. A higher value makes the alarm more sensitive to movement.

6. Go to the Arming Schedule tab to set the times when motion detection should be active.

7. Go to the Linkage Action tab to set what happens when motion is detected (e.g., audible warning, send email, trigger recording).

8. Click Apply.

Configure Intrusion Detection / Line Crossing Detection:

1. Go to Configuration → Camera → Smart Event → Intrusion or Line Crossing.

2. Select a camera and check Enable.

3. Set the detection rules and areas:

– For Intrusion Detection, click Draw Area to draw a quadrilateral detection region.

– For Line Crossing Detection, click Draw Area to draw a virtual line. You can also set the detection Direction (A->B, B->A, or A<->B).

4. Set the Sensitivity and other relevant thresholds.

5. Configure the Arming Schedule and Linkage Action as needed.

6. Click Apply.

A newly installed Hard Disk Drive (HDD) must be initialized before it can be used for recording.

Initialize HDD:

1. Go to Configuration → Record → Storage.

2. Select the HDD from the list.

3. Click Init. The process will format the hard drive, erasing all data on it.

Configure Recording Schedule:

This allows your HIKVISION DS-7108HGHI-F1 to automatically start and stop recording based on a schedule.

1. Go to Configuration → Record → Schedule.

2. Select a camera from the Camera No. dropdown list.

3. Check Enable.

4. Configure the schedule:

– You can click and drag on the timeline for each day to set the recording type. Different colors represent different types (e.g., Blue for Continuous, Green for Event).

– Alternatively, click Edit to set up to 8 specific time periods for each day. You can check All Day for 24-hour recording or set specific Start/End Time and schedule type.

5. Click Apply.

The privacy mask feature allows you to configure areas in a camera’s view that will not be viewed or recorded.

Steps:

1. Go to Configuration → Camera → Privacy Mask.

2. Select the desired Camera from the dropdown list.

3. Check Enable.

4. Drag your mouse on the preview window to draw a rectangular area. This area will be masked. The frames of the areas will be marked with different colors.

5. You can configure up to 4 privacy mask areas. The size of each area can be adjusted.

6. Click Apply to save the settings.

You can restore the settings of your HIKVISION DS-7108HGHI-F1 to factory defaults.

Steps:

1. Go to Maintenance.

2. Select the restoring type:

– Simple Restore: Restores all parameters to factory default settings, except for network parameters (IP address, subnet mask, gateway, etc.) and user account parameters.

– Factory Defaults: Restores all parameters to the factory default settings.

– Restore to Inactive: Restores the device to the inactive status, leaving all settings unchanged except for restoring user accounts. This will require you to activate the device again.

3. Click Yes to confirm. The device will reboot automatically.

You can upgrade your device’s firmware either locally using a backup device or via an online update.

Warning: Do not shut down or turn off the power during the upgrade process.

Local Upgrade:

1. Store the upgrade firmware file on a backup device (like a USB flash drive) and connect it to your HIKVISION DS-7108HGHI-F1.

2. Go to Maintenance.

3. In the Firmware section, select your backup device from the Device Name dropdown.

4. Select the upgrade firmware file from the list.

5. Click Upgrade. Your device will reboot automatically after the upgrade is complete.

Online Upgrade:

This requires Guarding Vision to be enabled and configured.

1. Go to Maintenance.

2. Go to Online Upgrade.

3. The device will check for the latest firmware. You can use:

– Auto Download: The device will automatically check for and download the latest firmware.

– Test Upgrade: Click this to manually check for and download the latest firmware.

4. If a new firmware version is available, you will be prompted to upgrade your device. The device will reboot automatically.

You can access and manage your HIKVISION DS-7108HGHI-F1 via a web browser.

Supported Browsers: Internet Explorer 6.0 to 11.0, Apple Safari, Mozilla Firefox, and Google Chrome.

Steps:

1. Open a web browser on a computer connected to the same network as your recorder.

2. Input the IP address of the video recorder into the address bar and press Enter.

– If you have changed the default HTTP port (80), you must include it in the address. For example: http://192.168.1.64:81

3. On the login page, enter your user name and password.

4. Click Login.

5. The first time you log in, you may be prompted to install a browser plug-in. Follow the installation prompts to view live video and use all features.
