For first-time access, you need to activate the HIKVISION DS-7208HGHI-K1 by setting an admin password. No operation is allowed before activation. First, power on your device.

Step 1. Select a language.

Step 3. Set the PTZ camera parameters, such as Baud Rate, Data Bit, Stop Bit, Parity, Flow Ctrl, PTZ Protocol, and Address. All parameters should be the same as the PTZ camera’s settings.

Note: For a Coaxitron camera/dome, you can select the PTZ protocol to UTC (Coaxitron). This will make other parameters like baud rate and data bit unavailable. AHD and HDCVI cameras also support coaxitron control.

Step 4. Click OK.

Customize a Preset

A preset is a saved location where the PTZ camera will point when an event occurs.

Step 1. In live view, click the PTZ control icon on the shortcut menu.

Step 2. Select a desired preset number from the preset list.

Step 3. Use the direction buttons to move the camera to the required location. Adjust zoom and focus as desired.

Step 4. Click the “Set” icon to save the preset. To call a preset, double-click it in the preset list.

Customize a Patrol

A patrol is a path consisting of a series of presets.

Step 1. In the PTZ control panel, click the “Patrol” tab.

Step 2. Select a desired patrol number.

Step 3. Click “Set”, then click the “+” icon.

Step 4. Configure key point parameters, such as the key point No. (preset), duration of stay, and speed of patrol. The preset number determines the order. Duration is the time to stay at the key point. Speed is the speed of movement to the next key point.

Step 5. Click Apply. To start the patrol, select the patrol and click “Call”.

Customize a Pattern

A pattern records the exact movement path and dwell time of the camera.

Step 1. In the PTZ control panel, click the “Pattern” tab.

Step 2. Select a pattern number.

Step 3. Click “Record”.

Step 4. Use the direction buttons and other controls to move the camera as desired. The path will be recorded.

Step 5. Click “Stop Recording”. To call the pattern, select it and click “Call”.

Normal Playback

This function plays back regularly recorded videos.

Step 1. Go to “Playback”.

Step 2. Select a camera from the camera list.

Step 3. Select a date on the calendar for playback. Dates with a blue triangle have available videos.

Step 4. Use the timeline to navigate the video. The blue bar indicates continuous video, and the red bar indicates event video.

Smart Playback

This function analyzes video for motion, line crossing, or intrusion events to quickly find relevant footage.

Step 1. Go to “Playback” and click the “Smart” tab.

Step 2. Select a camera.

Step 3. The timeline will show video segments with smart events.

Step 4. Position the cursor on the playback window to show the control bar. You can use it to draw detection areas for motion, intrusion, or line crossing to further filter the results.

Step 5. Click the settings icon to configure the play strategy, such as choosing to skip normal videos.

You can export video clips to a backup device like a USB flash drive. First, connect a backup device to your video recorder.

The default “admin” user has permission to add, delete, and edit other users.

Step 4. Select the “Direction” for detection: A<->B (bidirectional), A->B (one way), or B->A (the other way).

A newly installed HDD must be initialized before it can be used to save videos and information.

Step 1. Go to Configuration → Record → Storage.
