For first-time access, you must activate the HIKVISION DS-7208HGHI-F1 by setting an admin password. No operation is allowed before activation.

Before You Start:

Power on your device.

Steps:

1. Select a language.

2. Click Next.

3. Input the same password in the Password and Confirm Password fields.

4. To activate network cameras connected to the device:

– Check Use Device Password as Default to use the device password to activate inactive network cameras.

– Or, enter a separate password to activate network cameras.

5. Optional: Set an email address for password resetting. If you forget your password, you can reset it by email.

1) Check Enable.

2) Enter an email address.

6. Click Activate.

The admin user can use an unlock pattern for logging in after the HIKVISION DS-7208HGHI-F1 is activated.

Set Unlock Pattern:

1. Use the mouse to draw a pattern among the 9 dots on the screen. The pattern must have at least 4 dots, and each dot can be connected only once. Release the mouse when the pattern is done.

2. Draw the same pattern again to confirm it. When the two patterns match, the pattern is configured successfully.

Log in via Unlock Pattern:

1. Right-click the mouse on the live view interface.

2. Draw the pre-defined pattern to unlock and enter the menu operation.

Note: If you have forgotten your pattern, click Forgot My Pattern or Switch User to log in via password. If you draw the wrong pattern more than 5 times, the system will switch to the normal password login mode automatically.

If your HIKVISION DS-7208HGHI-F1 has logged out, you must log in before operating the menu and other functions.

Steps:

1. Select your User Name from the dropdown list.

2. Input your password.

3. Click Login.

Note: If you forget the admin password, you can click Forgot Password to reset it. If you enter the wrong password 7 times, the user account will be locked for 60 seconds.

The Live View interface on your HIKVISION DS-7208HGHI-F1 has several functions for easy navigation and control:

• Click the auto-switch icon to start/stop auto-switch. The screen will automatically switch to the next one.

• Click the recording icon to start/stop all-day recording.

• Right-click a camera or click the full-screen icon to enter full-screen mode.

• Double-click a camera to view it in single-screen mode. Double-click again to exit single-screen mode.

• Change a camera’s live view screen by dragging it from its current screen to the desired one.

• Scroll up/down with the mouse to turn to the previous/next screen.

• Position the cursor on a camera to show the shortcut menu.

Shortcut Menu Description:

Live View Icon Description:

In the live view interface, icons at the upper-right corner of each camera screen show the camera’s recording and alarm status.

You must configure PTZ parameters before controlling a PTZ camera.

Configure PTZ Parameters:

1. Preview a camera in live view and click the PTZ control icon on its shortcut menu.

2. Click PTZ Parameter Settings.

3. Set the PTZ camera parameters. All parameters should be the same as the PTZ camera’s settings.

– For a Coaxitron camera/dome, you can select the PTZ protocol to UTC (Coaxitron).

– The AHD and HDCVI cameras support coaxitron control.

– Selecting the Coaxitron protocol will make other parameters like baud rate, data bit, etc., unavailable.

4. Click OK.

PTZ Control Panel Introduction:

Customize Preset:

1. In the PTZ control panel, select a desired preset number from the preset list.

2. Use the direction buttons, zoom, and focus to move the camera to the desired location.

3. Click the save icon to set the preset. To call it, double-click the preset in the list.

Customize Patrol:

1. In the PTZ control panel, click Patrol and select a patrol number.

2. Click Set.

3. Click ‘+’ to add key points. Configure the key point No. (corresponding to a preset), duration, and speed.

4. Click Apply. To start the patrol, select it and click Call.

Customize Pattern:

1. In the PTZ control panel, click Pattern and select a pattern number.

2. Click Record.

3. Use the PTZ controls to move the camera as desired. The path is recorded.

4. Click Stop Recording. To run the pattern, select it and click Call.

The HIKVISION DS-7208HGHI-F1 offers normal playback, smart playback, and sub-periods playback.

Normal Playback:

1. Go to Playback.

2. Select a camera from the camera list.

3. Select a date on the calendar for playback. A blue triangle at the corner of a date indicates available videos.

4. Position the cursor on the timeline and drag it to a certain time. A blue bar indicates normal video, and a red bar indicates event video.

Smart Playback:

Smart playback analyzes video for motion, line crossing, or intrusion detection events.

1. Go to Playback.

2. Click Smart.

3. Select a camera.

4. Position the cursor on the playback window to show the control bar.

5. Click the detection area icon to set detection areas for the smart event (e.g., draw a detection line for line crossing).

Sub-Periods Playback:

This function plays videos from multiple sub-periods simultaneously.

1. Go to Playback.

2. Click Sub-periods.

3. Select a camera.

4. Set a start and end time.

5. Optionally, select a window division mode (4-Period, 9-Period, etc.).

6. Click the play icon. The videos will be divided into equal segments and played simultaneously in the selected number of screens.

You can clip videos during playback and export them to a backup device like a USB flash drive.

Before You Start:

Connect a backup device to your HIKVISION DS-7208HGHI-F1.

Steps:

1. Start playback of the desired video.

2. Click the clip icon on the playback control bar.

3. Set the start and end time for the clip.

– Click the clip icon again, set the start and end time in the pop-up window, and click OK.

– Or, set a time segment directly on the time bar for clipping.

4. Click the save/export icon.

5. Click Export to export the clip to your backup device.

Search for Files:

1. Go to Search.

2. Set your search conditions (e.g., camera, date, time).

3. Click Search.

– In the results, click the play icon to play a video.

– Click the lock icon to lock a file. Locked files will not be overwritten.

– Select one or more files and click Export to save them to a backup device.

Quick Backup:

1. Connect a backup device to your HIKVISION DS-7208HGHI-F1.

2. Go to Search.

3. Set your search conditions.

4. Click Quick Export.

5. Select the backup device and path.

6. Click OK to start exporting.

In Easy Mode, you can configure basic settings like output resolution, system time, and more.

Steps:

1. Go to Configuration → System → General.

2. Configure the parameters as needed:

– System Date/Time: Set the current date and time.

– Resolution: Set the video output resolution.

– Enable Wizard: The setup wizard will pop up after the device starts up.

– Enable Password: Requires a password for authentication if the device automatically logs out.

– Enable NTP: Enable Network Time Protocol to synchronize time with a server.

– Interval (min): Set the time interval for NTP synchronization.

– NTP Server/Port: Enter the IP address and port of the NTP server.

3. Click Apply.

The default “admin” user has permission to add, delete, and edit other users.

Steps:

1. Go to Configuration → User.

2. Click Add and confirm your admin password.

3. Enter a User Name for the new user.

4. Enter the same password in the Password and Confirm fields.

5. Select a User Level (e.g., Guest, who only has live view, playback, and log search permissions).

6. Click OK.

To edit an existing user, click the edit icon next to their name.

Properly configure network settings before operating the device over a network.

General Network Settings:

1. Go to Configuration → Network → General.

2. Set network parameters:

– DHCP: If a DHCP server is available, check Enable DHCP to automatically obtain an IP address and other network settings.

– IPv4 Address/Subnet Mask/Default Gateway: Manually enter these if not using DHCP.

– Obtain DNS Automatically: If DHCP is checked, you can check this to automatically obtain DNS server addresses.

3. Click Apply.

Guarding Vision (Platform Access):

Guarding Vision provides a mobile phone application and platform service for remote access.

1. Go to Configuration → Network → Platform Access.

2. Select Access Type as Guarding Vision.

3. Check Enable. Read and agree to the service terms and privacy statement.

4. Optional: Check Stream Encryption. This requires a verification code for remote access.

5. Enter a code in Verification Code. You can click Refresh to generate one randomly.

6. Click Apply.

After setup, you can access your video recorder via the Guarding Vision app by scanning the QR codes provided on this screen.

Motion detection enables the HIKVISION DS-7208HGHI-F1 to detect moving objects in the monitored area and trigger alarms.

Steps:

1. Go to Configuration → Camera → Smart Event → Motion Detection.

2. Select a camera to configure.

3. Check Enable.

4. Under Area Settings, set the motion detection area:

– Click Full Screen to set the entire view as the detection area.

– Drag on the preview window to draw customized detection areas.

– Click Clear to clear the current areas.

5. Adjust Sensitivity. A higher value results in more readily triggered motion detection.

6. Go to the Arming Schedule tab to set the time periods when motion detection should be active.

7. Go to the Linkage Action tab to set what happens when motion is detected (e.g., Audible Warning, Send Email, Trigger Recording).

8. Click Apply.

The HIKVISION DS-7208HGHI-F1 will automatically start and stop recording according to the configured schedule.

Steps:

1. Go to Configuration → Record → Schedule.

2. Select a camera from the Camera No. dropdown.

3. Check Enable.

4. Configure the recording schedule:

– To draw on the schedule grid, first select a recording type (e.g., Continuous or Event). Then, drag the mouse on the desired time period for any day to draw a colored bar representing that recording type.

– For more detailed scheduling, click Edit.

– Select a day in Weekday.

– To set an all-day schedule, check All Day and select a schedule type.

– To set specific time periods, uncheck All Day, and set the Start/End Time and schedule type for up to 8 different periods. Time periods cannot be overlapped.

– Click OK to save the edited schedule.

5. Click Apply to save the schedule for the selected camera.

A newly installed HDD must be initialized before it can be used to save videos.

Initialize HDD:

1. Go to Configuration → Record → Storage.

2. Select a new or uninitialized HDD from the list.

3. Click Init. The device will format the HDD, erasing all data on it.

Add Network Disk (NetHDD):

You can add a NAS or IP SAN disk as a network HDD.

1. Go to Configuration → Record → Storage.

2. Click Add.

3. Select NetHDD.

4. Set the Type as NAS or IPSAN.

5. Enter the NetHDD IP address.

6. Click Search to find available disks, or manually enter the directory in NetHDD Directory.

7. Select the NAS disk from the list.

8. Click OK.

You can upgrade your HIKVISION DS-7208HGHI-F1 locally using a backup device or via an online update.

Warning: Do not shut down or turn off the power during the upgrade process.

Local Upgrade:

1. Store the upgrade firmware file on a backup device (like a USB drive) and connect it to your device.

2. Go to Maintenance.

3. Click the local upgrade icon near Firmware.

4. Select your backup device in Device Name.

5. Select the upgrade firmware file.

6. Click Upgrade. Your device will reboot automatically after the upgrade is complete.

Online Upgrade:

1. Ensure Guarding Vision is enabled and configured.

2. Go to Maintenance.

3. Click the online upgrade icon.

4. Go to Online Upgrade.

5. The device will automatically check for and download the latest firmware. You can also click Test Upgrade to manually check.

6. If a new firmware version is available, the device will prompt you to upgrade. The device will reboot automatically.

You can restore your HIKVISION DS-7208HGHI-F1 to factory settings through the Maintenance menu.

Steps:

1. Go to Maintenance.

2. Select the restoring type:

– Simple Restore: Restores all parameters to factory defaults, except for network and user account parameters.

– Factory Defaults: Restores all parameters to the factory default settings.

– Restore to Inactive: Restores the device to an inactive state and resets user accounts, leaving other settings unchanged.

3. Click Yes to confirm. The device will reboot automatically.

You can access the HIKVISION DS-7208HGHI-F1 using a web browser such as Internet Explorer, Apple Safari, Mozilla Firefox, or Google Chrome.

Steps:

1. Open a web browser and input the IP address of the video recorder, then press Enter.

– Note: If you have changed the HTTP port from the default (80), you must include it in the address. For example: `http://192.168.1.64:81`.

2. On the login page, enter your user name and password.

3. Click Login.

4. If prompted, follow the installation prompts to install the required plug-in. You may need to close the web browser to complete the installation.

After logging in, you can access Live View, Playback, and Configuration interfaces through the web browser.
