For first-time access, you need to activate your HIKVISION DS-7224HGHI-K2 by setting an admin password. No operation is allowed before activation.

Before You Start:

Power on your device.

Steps:

1. Select a language.

2. Click Next.

3. Input the same password in the Password and Confirm Password fields. It is highly recommended to create a strong password of your own choosing (using a minimum of 8 characters, including at least three of the following categories: upper case letters, lower case letters, numbers, and special characters) to increase the security of your product.

4. To activate network cameras connected to the device, you have two options:

– Check Use Device Password as Default to use the device password to activate the inactive network camera(s).

– Enter a separate password to activate network camera(s).

5. Optional: Set an email address for password resetting. If you forget your password, you can reset it by email.

1) Check Enable.

2) Enter an email address.

6. Click Activate.

The admin user can configure and use an unlock pattern to log in after the HIKVISION DS-7224HGHI-K2 is activated.

Steps:

1. Use the mouse to draw a pattern among the 9 dots on the screen. Release the mouse when the pattern is done.

Note:

– The pattern must have at least 4 dots.

– Each dot can be connected only once.

2. Draw the same pattern again to confirm it. When the two patterns match, the pattern is configured successfully.

Log in via Unlock Pattern:

1. Right-click the mouse on the live view interface.

2. Draw the pre-defined pattern to unlock and enter the menu operation.

Note:

– If you have forgotten your pattern, click Forgot My Pattern or Switch User to log in via password.

– If you draw the wrong pattern more than 5 times, the system will switch to the normal password login mode automatically.

Log in via Password:

If your video recorder has logged out, you must log in before operating the menu.

1. Select a User Name from the dropdown list.

2. Input the password.

3. Click Login.

Note:

– If you forget the admin password, you can click Forgot Password to reset it.

– If you enter the wrong password 7 times, the user account will be locked for 60 seconds.

When you position the cursor over a camera in the live view interface of your HIKVISION DS-7224HGHI-K2, a shortcut menu appears with several functions.

Additionally, icons in the upper-right corner of each camera’s screen indicate its status:

Before controlling a PTZ camera with your HIKVISION DS-7224HGHI-K2, you must configure its parameters.

Steps:

1. Preview a camera in live view and click the PTZ control icon on the shortcut menu.

2. Click PTZ Parameter Settings.

3. Set the PTZ camera parameters, such as Baud Rate, Data Bit, Stop Bit, Parity, Flow Ctrl, PTZ Protocol, and Address.

Note:

– All parameters should be the same as the PTZ camera’s settings.

– For a Coaxitron camera/dome, you can select the PTZ protocol to UTC (Coaxitron). Ensure the connected camera supports this protocol.

– AHD and HDCVI cameras also support coaxitron control.

– Selecting the Coaxitron protocol will make other parameters (baud rate, data bit, etc.) unavailable.

4. Click OK to save the settings.

You can use the PTZ control panel on your HIKVISION DS-7224HGHI-K2 to set up automated camera movements.

Customize a Preset:

A preset is a saved location the PTZ camera will point to when an event occurs.

1. In live view, click the PTZ control icon on the shortcut menu.

2. Select a desired preset number from the preset list.

3. Use the direction buttons, zoom, and focus controls to move the camera to the required location.

4. Click the “Set Preset” icon to save the position. To call a preset, double-click it in the list.

Customize a Patrol:

A patrol is a path consisting of a series of presets.

1. In the PTZ control panel, click the Patrol tab.

2. Select a desired patrol and click Set.

3. Click ‘+’ to add a key point.

4. Configure the key point parameters: select a preset, set the Duration (time to stay at the point), and Speed (speed of movement to the next point).

5. Click Apply. To run the patrol, select it and click Call.

Customize a Pattern:

A pattern records a continuous movement path.

1. In the PTZ control panel, click the Pattern tab.

2. Select a pattern and click Record.

3. Use the direction buttons, zoom, and focus controls to move the camera as desired. The path is recorded.

4. Click Stop Recording to save the pattern. To run the pattern, select it and click Call.

Normal Playback:

1. Go to Playback.

2. Select a camera from the camera list on the left.

3. Select a date on the calendar for playback. Dates with a blue triangle have available video.

4. Use the timeline at the bottom to navigate. The blue bar indicates continuous video, and the red bar indicates event video. You can drag the timeline or scroll to zoom in/out.

Smart Playback:

Smart playback analyzes video for motion, line crossing, or intrusion detection events to help you find relevant footage quickly.

1. Go to Playback and click the Smart tab.

2. Select a camera.

3. Position the cursor on the playback window to show the control bar.

4. Use the icons on the control bar to define detection areas for the smart search:

– Line Crossing Detection: Click the line icon and draw a detection line.

– Intrusion Detection: Click the region icon and specify 4 points to set a quadrilateral region.

– Motion Detection: Click the grid icon and drag to set the detection area manually.

5. The system will only play back footage where the specified smart event was detected.

You can export video clips from your HIKVISION DS-7224HGHI-K2 to a backup device like a USB flash drive.

Before You Start:

Connect a backup device to your video recorder.

Steps:

1. Start playback of the desired video footage.

2. Click the “Clip” icon (scissors) on the playback control bar.

3. Define the start and end times for the clip. You can do this in two ways:

– Click the “Start Clipping” icon, let the video play to the desired end point, and click the “End Clipping” icon.

– Drag the markers on the timeline to set the start and end of the segment.

4. Click the “Export” icon.

5. Follow the on-screen prompts to export the clip to your backup device.

Search for Files:

1. Go to Search from the main menu.

2. Set your search conditions (e.g., camera, date, time, file type).

3. Click Search.

4. A list of files will appear. You can:

– Click the play icon to play the video.

– Click the lock icon to lock the file, which prevents it from being overwritten.

– Select one or more files and click Export to save them to a backup device.

Perform a Quick Backup:

1. Connect a backup device to your HIKVISION DS-7224HGHI-K2.

2. Go to Search.

3. Set your search conditions.

4. Click Quick Export.

5. Select the backup device and path.

6. Click OK to start exporting.

In Easy Mode, you can configure basic settings like system time and output resolution.

Steps:

1. Go to Configuration → System → General.

2. Configure the parameters as needed:

– System Date/Time: Set the current date and time.

– Resolution: Set the video output resolution.

– Enable Wizard: The setup wizard will pop up after the device starts up.

– Enable Password: Requires a password for authentication if the device automatically logs out.

– Enable NTP: Enables Network Time Protocol to synchronize the device’s clock with an NTP server.

– Interval (min): Sets the time interval for NTP synchronization.

– NTP Server/Port: Enter the address and port of the NTP server.

3. Click Apply to save the changes.

The Administrator (default username: admin) has permission to add, delete, and edit users on the HIKVISION DS-7224HGHI-K2.

Steps:

1. Go to Configuration → User.

2. Click Add and confirm your admin password.

3. Enter a User Name for the new user.

4. Enter the same password in the Password and Confirm fields. Ensure it is a strong password.

5. Select a User Level. Guest users typically only have live view, playback, and log search permissions.

6. Click OK.

You can configure your HIKVISION DS-7224HGHI-K2 to provide hints in the alarm center and trigger actions for system exceptions (e.g., HDD Full, Network Disconnected).

Steps:

1. Go to Configuration → System → Exception.

2. Select an Exception Type from the dropdown list (e.g., HDD Full).

3. To receive notifications, check Event Hint. This will show hints in the alarm center when the exception occurs.

4. Select linkage actions to be performed when the exception is triggered:

– Normal Linkage:

– Audible Warning: The device will beep.

– Notify Surveillance Center: Sends a notification to remote client software.

– Send Email: Sends an email notification.

– Trigger Alarm Output: Activates a physical alarm output connected to the device.

5. Click Apply.

Guarding Vision is a service that allows you to remotely access and manage your HIKVISION DS-7224HGHI-K2 via a mobile app.

Steps:

1. Go to Configuration → Network → Platform Access.

2. Select the Access Type as Guarding Vision.

3. Check Enable. A service terms window will pop up.

1) Scan the QR code to read the service terms and privacy statement.

2) Check I have read and agree to Service Terms and Privacy Statement.

3) Click OK.

4. Optional: Check Stream Encryption. This will require a verification code for remote access.

5. Enter a code in the Verification Code field. You can click Refresh to generate a random code.

6. Click Apply.

What to do next:

a. Scan the first QR code displayed on the screen to download the Guarding Vision app.

b. Open the Guarding Vision app and scan the second QR code to add your video recorder.

You can set up your HIKVISION DS-7224HGHI-K2 to send email notifications when an event occurs.

Before You Start:

– Ensure your video recorder is connected to a local area network with an SMTP mail server.

– Configure your network parameters under Configuration → Network → General.

Steps:

1. Go to Configuration → Network → Email.

2. Set the email parameters:

– Server Authentication: Check to enable if your SMTP server requires it, then enter the User Name and Password for the email account.

– SMTP Server and SMTP Port: Enter your email provider’s SMTP server address and port number.

– SSL/TLS: Check to enable if required by the SMTP server.

– Attached Picture: Check to include images in the email notification.

– Sender’s Name and Sender’s Address: Enter the name and email address that will send the notifications.

– Select Receiver: Choose a receiver (up to 3 can be configured). Enter the Receiver’s Name and Receiver’s Address.

3. Click Apply.

You can add network (IP) cameras to your HIKVISION DS-7224HGHI-K2.

Activate a Network Camera:

Only activated cameras can be added.

1. Go to Configuration → Camera → IP Camera.

2. Cameras on the same network segment will be listed. If a camera’s security status is “Inactive”, click it.

3. In the Activation window, set a password for the camera. You can check Use Channel Default Password to use the DVR’s password.

4. Click OK.

Add a Network Camera Manually:

1. Go to Configuration → Camera → IP Camera.

2. Click + (Add).

3. Set the network camera parameters, including IP address, protocol, management port, user name, and password.

4. Optional: Click Add More to add another network camera.

5. Click OK.

Edit a Connected Network Camera:

1. Go to Configuration → Camera → IP Camera.

2. In the list of added cameras, click the edit icon for the camera you wish to modify.

3. Change the parameters as needed.

4. Click OK.

You can configure your HIKVISION DS-7224HGHI-K2 to record continuously or based on events according to a schedule.

Steps:

1. Go to Configuration → Record → Schedule.

2. Select a camera from the Camera No. dropdown list.

3. Check Enable.

4. Configure the recording schedule using one of two methods:

– Method 1 (Edit Menu):

a. Click Edit.

b. Select a day of the week.

c. To set an all-day schedule, check All Day and select a schedule type (Continuous or Event).

d. For custom time periods, uncheck All Day and set the Start/End Time and schedule type. You can set up to 8 periods per day.

e. Click OK.

– Method 2 (Draw on Schedule):

a. Click to select a schedule type (Continuous in blue, Event in green).

b. On the timeline grid, drag the mouse across the desired time period for any day to draw a colored bar representing that recording type.

5. Click Apply to save the schedule.

A newly installed HDD must be initialized on your HIKVISION DS-7224HGHI-K2 before it can be used to save videos and information.

Before You Start:

Install at least one HDD inside your video recorder.

Steps:

1. Go to Configuration → Record → Storage.

2. A list of installed HDDs will be displayed. Select the HDD you want to initialize.

3. Click the Init button.

4. A confirmation prompt will appear, warning you that all data on the disk will be erased. Click OK to proceed.

5. The initialization process will begin. Once complete, the status of the HDD will change to “Normal”.

You can restore your HIKVISION DS-7224HGHI-K2 to its factory settings through the Maintenance menu.

Steps:

1. Go to Maintenance from the main menu.

2. Select the desired restoring type:

– Simple Restore: Restores all parameters to the factory default settings, EXCEPT for network parameters (IP address, subnet mask, gateway, etc.) and user account parameters.

– Factory Defaults: Restores ALL parameters to the factory default settings, including network and user settings.

– Restore to Inactive: Restores the device to its initial inactive status, requiring you to set a new admin password upon restart. It leaves all other settings unchanged except for restoring user accounts.

3. Click Yes to confirm. The device will reboot automatically with the restored settings.

You can upgrade your HIKVISION DS-7224HGHI-K2’s firmware locally from a USB device or online.

Warning: Do not shut down or turn off the power during the upgrade process.

Local Upgrade:

1. Store the upgrade firmware file on a backup device (e.g., USB flash drive) and connect it to your DVR.

2. Go to Maintenance.

3. Click the settings icon next to Firmware.

4. In the Device Name dropdown, select your backup device.

5. Select the upgrade firmware file from the list.

6. Click Upgrade. Your device will reboot automatically after the upgrade is complete.

Online Upgrade:

1. Ensure Guarding Vision is enabled and configured.

2. Go to Maintenance.

3. Click the ‘+’ icon.

4. Go to Online Upgrade.

5. You can choose:

– Auto Download: The device will automatically check for and download the latest firmware.

– Test Upgrade: Manually check for and download the latest firmware.

6. If a new firmware version is available, follow the on-screen prompts to upgrade your device. It will reboot automatically.

You can access your HIKVISION DS-7224HGHI-K2 for live view, playback, and configuration via a web browser.

Supported Browsers:

Internet Explorer 6.0 to 11.0, Apple Safari, Mozilla Firefox, and Google Chrome.

Steps:

1. Open a web browser on a computer connected to the same network as your DVR.

2. In the address bar, type the IP address of the video recorder and press Enter. (e.g., http://192.168.1.64). If you have changed the HTTP port, you must include it (e.g., http://192.168.1.64:81).

3. If prompted, follow the installation instructions to install the required browser plug-in. You may need to close and reopen the browser for the installation to complete.

4. On the login page, enter your user name and password.

5. Click Login.

6. You can now access Live View, Playback, Configuration, and other features through the web interface.
