For the first-time access, you need to activate the HIKVISION DS-7104HGHI-K1 by setting an admin password. No operation is allowed before activation. You can also activate the video recorder via web browser, SADP or client software.

Before You Start

Power on your device.

Steps

1. Select a language.

2. Click Next.

3. Input the same password in Password and Confirm Password. It is highly recommended to create a strong password of your own choosing (using a minimum of 8 characters, including at least three of the following categories: upper case letters, lower case letters, numbers, and special characters) to increase the security of your product. It is also recommended to reset your password regularly.

4. Activate network camera(s) connected to the device.

– Check Use Device Password as Default to use the device password to activate the inactive network camera(s).

– Or, enter a password to activate network camera(s).

5. Optional: Set an email address for password resetting. If you forget your password, you can reset it by email.

1) Check Enable.

2) Enter an email address.

6. Click Activate.

The admin user can use an unlock pattern to log in. You can configure the unlock pattern after the HIKVISION DS-7104HGHI-K1 is activated.

Set Unlock Pattern

1. Use the mouse to draw a pattern among the 9 dots on the screen. Release the mouse when the pattern is done.

– The pattern must have at least 4 dots.

– Each dot can be connected only once.

2. Draw the same pattern again to confirm it. When the two patterns match, the pattern is configured successfully.

Log in via Unlock Pattern

1. Right-click the mouse on the live view interface.

2. Draw the pre-defined pattern to unlock and enter the menu operation.

If you have forgotten your pattern, click Forgot My Pattern or Switch User to log in via password. If you have drawn the wrong pattern more than 5 times, the system will switch to the normal login mode automatically.

If your HIKVISION DS-7104HGHI-K1 has logged out, you must log in before operating the menu and other functions.

Steps

1. Select User Name.

2. Input the password.

3. Click Login.

Note:

– When you forget the password of the admin, you can click Forgot Password to reset the password.

– If you enter the wrong password 7 times, the current user account will be locked for 60 seconds.

When you position the cursor on a camera in Live View, a shortcut menu appears. The functions are as follows:

In the live view interface, there are icons at the upper-right corner of the screen for each camera, showing the camera recording and alarm status.

You must configure PTZ parameters before controlling a PTZ camera.

Steps

1. Preview a camera in live view and click the PTZ control icon on the shortcut menu.

2. Click PTZ Parameter Settings.

3. Set the PTZ camera parameters. All parameters should be the same as the PTZ camera.

– For a Coaxitron camera/dome, you can select the PTZ protocol to UTC (Coaxitron). Ensure the selected protocol is supported by the connected camera/dome.

– The AHD and HDCVI cameras support coaxitron control.

– Selecting the Coaxitron protocol will make other parameters unavailable, including baud rate, data bit, stop bit, parity, and flow control.

4. Click OK.

Customize Preset

A preset is a location where the PTZ camera will point when an event occurs.

1. Preview a camera in live view and click the PTZ icon on the shortcut menu.

2. Select a desired preset from the preset list.

3. Use direction buttons to move the camera to the required location. Adjust zoom and focus as desired.

4. Click the save icon. To call a preset, double-click it in the preset list.

Customize Patrol

A patrol is a path consisting of a series of presets.

1. Preview a camera in live view and click the PTZ icon on the shortcut menu.

2. Click Patrol.

3. Select a desired patrol and click Set.

4. Click + to add a key point.

5. Configure key point parameters, such as the key point No., duration, and speed. The key point corresponds to a preset.

6. Click Apply. To call a patrol, select it and click Call.

Customize Pattern

A pattern records the movement path and dwell time in a certain position.

1. Preview a camera in live view and click the PTZ icon on the shortcut menu.

2. Click Pattern.

3. Select a pattern and click Record.

4. Use direction buttons to move the camera to the required locations. Adjust zoom and focus as desired.

5. Click Stop Recording. The path is recorded as a pattern. To call a pattern, select it and click Call.

Steps

1. Go to Playback.

2. Select a camera from the camera list.

3. Select a date on the calendar for playback. A blue triangle at the corner of a date indicates there are available videos.

4. Optional: Position the cursor on the playback window to show the control bar for actions like adding a tag, turning audio on/off, zooming, and locking/unlocking video.

Timeline Navigation

– Position the cursor on the timeline and drag it to a certain time.

– Periods marked with a blue bar contain video. A red bar indicates event video.

– Scroll up/down to zoom in/out of the timeline.

Smart playback allows the system to analyze video containing motion detection, line crossing detection, or intrusion detection information to easily get through less effective information.

Before You Start

Configure motion detection, line crossing detection, and intrusion detection rules and areas.

Steps

1. Go to Playback.

2. Click Smart.

3. Select a camera.

4. Position the cursor on the playback window to show the control bar. From here you can add tags, toggle audio, lock video, zoom, configure detection areas, and clear detection areas.

5. Use the icons on the control bar to set detection areas for the smart event (e.g., draw a detection line for Line Crossing).

6. Click the settings icon to configure the play strategy:

– Do not Play Normal Videos: If enabled, videos without smart information will not be played.

– Normal Video: Set normal video playback speed. This is only valid when “Do not Play Normal Videos” is unchecked.

– Play Speed of Smart/Custom Video: Set playback speed of videos with smart information.

This feature allows videos to be played in multiple sub-periods simultaneously.

Steps

1. Go to Playback.

2. Click Sub-periods.

3. Select a camera.

4. Set the start and end time.

5. Optional: Select a window division mode as 4-Period, 9-Period, or 16-Period. Videos will be divided into 4/6/9 equal segments.

6. Click the search icon. Videos will be divided into equal segments in the selected number of screens and played simultaneously.

You can clip videos during playback and export them to a backup device (USB flash drives, USB HDDs, etc.).

Before You Start

Connect a backup device to your HIKVISION DS-7104HGHI-K1.

Steps

1. Start playback as described in the Normal Playback section.

2. Click the clip icon.

3. Clip the video:

– Click the start time icon, set the start and end time, and click OK.

– Or, set a time segment on the time bar for clipping.

4. Click the save/export icon.

5. Click Export to export the clip to the backup device.

Search and Export File(s)

1. Go to Search.

2. Set the search conditions.

3. Click Search.

– Click the play icon to play the video.

– Click the lock icon to lock the file. A locked file will not be overwritten.

– Select file(s), and click Export to export the file(s) to a backup device.

Quick Backup

1. Connect a backup device to your HIKVISION DS-7104HGHI-K1.

2. Go to Search.

3. Set search conditions.

4. Click Quick Export.

5. Select the backup device and path.

6. Click OK to start exporting.

Easy mode contains basic configurations. Go to Configuration and click Easy Mode.

Steps

1. Go to Configuration → System → General.

2. Configure the parameters as you desire:

– Enable Wizard: The wizard will pop up after the device starts up.

– Enable Password: You need to enter a password for authentication if the device automatically logs out.

– Enable NTP: Network Time Protocol (NTP) allows the device to connect to an NTP server to sync time.

– Interval (min): Time interval between two time synchronizations with the NTP server.

– NTP Server: IP address of the NTP server.

– NTP Port: Port of the NTP server.

3. Click Apply.

The default account is Administrator (username: admin), who has permission to add, delete, and edit users. A Guest user only has live view, playback, and log search permission.

Steps

1. Go to Configuration → User.

2. Click Add and confirm your admin password.

3. Enter a user name.

4. Enter the same password in Password and Confirm. A strong password is highly recommended.

5. Click OK.

To edit a user, click the edit icon next to their name.

When you forget your login pattern and password, the HIKVISION DS-7104HGHI-K1 can send an email containing a verification code to your email for password resetting.

Steps

1. Go to Configuration → User.

2. Click Password Resetting Email.

3. Enter the admin password for authorization.

4. Enter an email address.

5. Click OK.

Guarding Vision provides a mobile phone application and platform service to access and manage your connected devices for convenient remote access.

Steps

1. Go to Configuration → Network → Platform Access.

2. Select Access Type as Guarding Vision.

3. Check Enable. The service terms will pop up.

1) Scan the QR code to read the service terms and privacy statement.

2) Check I have read and agree to Service Terms and Privacy Statement if you agree.

3) Click OK.

4. Optional: Check Stream Encryption. This requires entering a verification code for remote access and live view.

5. Optional: Check Custom, and edit the Server Address.

6. Enter a code in Verification Code. You can click Refresh to randomly generate a verification code.

7. Click Apply.

After setup, you can access your video recorder via Guarding Vision. Scan the first QR code to download the Guarding Vision app. Then, open the app and scan the second QR code to add your HIKVISION DS-7104HGHI-K1.

You can set up an email account to receive event notifications.

Before You Start

– Ensure your HIKVISION DS-7104HGHI-K1 is in a local area network with an SMTP mail server.

– Configure your network parameters.

Steps

1. Go to Configuration → Network → Email.

2. Set the email parameters:

– Server Authentication: (Optional) Check to enable server authentication feature.

– User Name: The user account of the email sender for SMTP server authentication.

– Password: The password of the email sender for SMTP server authentication.

– SSL/TLS: (Optional) Check to enable SSL/TLS if required by the SMTP server.

– Sender: The sender’s name.

– Sender’s Address: The sender’s email address.

– Select Receiver: Select a receiver. Up to 3 receivers are available.

– Receiver: The receiver’s name.

– Receiver’s Address: The receiver’s email address.

3. Click Apply.

Activate a Network Camera

Only activated network cameras can be added.

1. Go to Configuration → Camera → IP Camera. The Security column indicates if the camera is activated.

2. Click Inactive for a desired camera.

3. Set the camera password. You can either check Use Channel Default Password to use the recorder’s password or customize a password.

4. Click OK.

Add Network Camera by Device Password

This method works for network cameras that have the same password as your video recorder.

1. Go to Configuration → Camera → IP Camera. Online cameras on the same network are displayed.

2. Click the + icon to add the camera.

Add Network Camera Manually

1. Go to Configuration → Camera → IP Camera.

2. Click +.

3. Set network camera parameters like IP address, protocol, and management port.

4. Optional: Click Add More to add another network camera.

5. Click OK.

Edit Connected Network Camera

1. Go to Configuration → Camera → IP Camera.

2. Click the edit icon for the selected camera to change its IP address, protocol, and other parameters.

3. Click OK.

Motion Detection

1. Go to Configuration → Camera → Smart Event → Motion Detection.

2. Select a camera and check Enable.

3. Set the motion detection area (Full screen or Customized area).

4. Adjust Sensitivity. A higher value results in more readily triggered motion detection.

5. Set the arming schedule and linkage actions.

6. Click Apply.

Intrusion Detection

This detects people, vehicles, or objects entering and loitering in a pre-defined virtual region.

1. Go to Configuration → Camera → Smart Event → Intrusion.

2. Select a camera and check Enable Intrusion Detection.

3. Set detection rules and areas by setting an Arming Area, Sensitivity, and drawing the area.

4. Set the arming schedule and linkage actions.

5. Click Apply.

Line Crossing Detection

This detects objects crossing a set virtual line.

1. Go to Configuration → Camera → Smart Event → Line Crossing.

2. Select a camera and set line crossing detection rules and areas.

3. Set Arming Area, select Direction (A<->B, A->B, or A<-B), and set Sensitivity.

4. Click Draw Area to draw the virtual line.

5. Set the arming schedule and linkage actions.

6. Click Apply.

Initialize HDD

A newly installed hard disk drive (HDD) must be initialized before it can be used.

1. Go to Configuration → Record → Storage.

2. Select an HDD.

3. Click Init.

Add Network Disk

You can add an allocated NAS or IP SAN disk to use as a network HDD. Up to 8 network disks can be added.

1. Go to Configuration → Record → Storage.

2. Click Add.

3. Select NetHDD.

4. Set Type as NAS or IPSAN.

5. Enter the NetHDD IP address.

6. Click Search to find available disks.

7. Select a NAS disk from the list or manually enter the directory in NetHDD Directory.

8. Click OK.

The HIKVISION DS-7104HGHI-K1 will automatically start/stop recording according to the configured schedule.

Steps

1. Go to Configuration → Record → Schedule.

2. Select a camera in Camera No.

3. Check Enable.

4. Configure the recording schedule:

– Using Edit Schedule:

a. Click Edit.

b. Select a day to configure in Weekday.

c. To set an all-day recording schedule, check All Day and select the schedule type (Continuous or Event).

d. For specific times, uncheck All Day, set Start/End Time, and select the schedule type. Up to 8 periods can be configured per day and they cannot overlap.

e. Click OK to save.

– Using Draw Schedule:

a. Click to select the schedule type (Continuous or Event).

b. On the timeline grid, drag the mouse on the desired period to draw a colored bar representing that schedule type.

5. Click Apply.

Steps

1. Go to Configuration → Record → Parameter.

2. Configure recording parameters for both Main Stream and Sub-Stream:

– Main Stream: This is the primary stream that affects data recorded to the HDD and determines video quality and image size. It provides higher quality video with higher resolution and frame rate.

– Sub-Stream: This is a second stream that runs alongside the main stream, typically used by mobile apps to view live video with lower bandwidth usage without sacrificing direct recording quality.

– Frame Rate: Refers to how many frames are captured each second. A higher frame rate is better for movement.

– Resolution: The level of detail an image can hold, specified as pixel-columns (width) by pixel-rows (height), e.g., 1024×768.

– Bitrate: Defines the number of bits per time unit for the video stream.

– Enable H.264+: This mode helps ensure high video quality with a lowered bitrate, reducing bandwidth and HDD storage space needs.

– Audio Source: Select the audio input signal source. If you select Camera Audio, it will transmit audio via coaxial cable (if supported by the camera), making the local audio input unavailable.

3. Click Apply.

Note: Higher resolution, frame rate, and bitrate provide better video quality but require more internet bandwidth and storage space.

Enable channel-zero encoding when you need to get a remote view of many channels in real time from a web browser or CMS software, in order to decrease the bandwidth requirement without affecting the image quality.

Steps

1. Go to Configuration → System → Live View → General.

2. Set Video Output Interface as Channel-Zero.

3. Go to Configuration → System → Live View → Channel-Zero.

4. Check Enable Channel-Zero Encoding.

5. Configure Frame Rate, Max. Bitrate Mode, and Max. Bitrate. Higher settings result in higher bandwidth requirements.

6. Click Apply.

DDNS (Dynamic Domain Name Server)

1. Before you start, register with a DDNS service (e.g., DynDNS, PeanutHull, NO-IP).

2. Go to Configuration → Network → General → DDNS.

3. Check Enable.

4. Select a DDNS Type.

5. Enter parameters including service address, domain name, etc.

6. Click Apply.

NAT (Network Address Translation)

1. Go to Configuration → Network → General → NAT.

2. Check Enable.

3. Select Mapping Type as Manual or Auto (for UPnP™).

4. For Manual mapping, you will need to configure port forwarding (virtual server) on your router to match the device’s ports.

Ports (More Settings)

1. Go to Configuration → Network → General → More Settings.

2. Configure the ports as needed:

– Server Port: For remote client software access (default 8000).

– HTTP Port: For remote web browser access (default 80).

– Multicast IP: To enable live view for more cameras than the maximum allowed through unicast network.

– RTSP Port: For streaming media control (default 554).

You can configure privacy mask areas that cannot be viewed or recorded.

Steps

1. Go to Configuration → Camera → Privacy Mask.

2. Select the Camera.

3. Check Enable.

4. Drag to draw an area on the preview window. The frames of the areas will be marked with different colors. Up to 4 privacy mask areas can be configured, and the size of each area can be adjusted.

5. Click Apply.

Configure HDD Groups

Video from specified channels can be recorded onto a particular HDD group.

1. Go to Configuration → Record → Storage Mode.

2. Select Mode as Group.

3. Select the group number.

4. Check the cameras to record on that HDD group.

5. Click Apply.

6. Reboot the video recorder to activate the new settings.

7. After reboot, go to Configuration → Record → Storage, click the settings icon of the desired HDD, and assign it to the correct group number.

Configure HDD Quota

Each camera can be configured with an allocated quota for storing videos.

1. Go to Configuration → Record → Storage Mode.

2. Select Mode as Quota.

3. Select a camera to set a quota for.

4. Enter the storage capacity in the text fields of Max. Record Capacity (GB) and Max. Picture Capacity (GB). If the quota capacity is set to 0, all cameras will use the total capacity of the HDD.

5. Click Apply.

6. Reboot the video recorder to activate the new settings.

Cloud storage allows you to upload and download videos from a cloud service.

Steps

1. Go to Configuration → Record → Cloud Storage.

2. Check Enable Cloud.

3. Select the Cloud Type (e.g., Google Drive).

4. Scan the QR code with a QR code scanner app to log into the selected cloud service and get an authorization code.

5. Enter the received code into the Authentication Code field.

6. Click Apply.

7. After about 20 seconds, the cloud storage status should show as Online.

8. To upload event-triggered videos, configure the event recording schedule for a specific camera.

9. In the Cloud Storage menu, select the camera, set Upload Type to Record, check Enable Event Upload, and click Apply.

Note: Only sub-stream videos can be uploaded to cloud storage.

Steps

1. Go to Maintenance.

2. Select the restoring type:

– Simple Restore: Restores all parameters, except the network (IP address, subnet mask, gateway, etc.) and user account parameters, to the factory default settings.

– Factory Defaults: Restores all parameters to the factory default settings.

– Restore to Inactive: Restores the device to the inactive status, leaving all settings unchanged except for restoring user accounts.

3. Click Yes. The device will reboot automatically.

Warning: Do not shut down or turn off the power during an upgrade.

Local Upgrade

1. Store the upgrade firmware on a backup device (like a USB drive) and connect it to your HIKVISION DS-7104HGHI-K1.

2. Go to Maintenance.

3. Click the settings icon near Firmware.

4. Select the backup device in Device Name.

5. Select the upgrade firmware file.

6. Click Upgrade. Your device will reboot automatically.

Online Upgrade

1. Enable and configure Guarding Vision.

2. Go to Maintenance.

3. Click the ‘+’ icon.

4. Go to Online Upgrade.

5. Download the latest firmware:

– Auto Download: The device will automatically check and download the latest firmware.

– Test Upgrade: Click to manually check and download the latest firmware.

6. Upgrade your device if a new firmware version is available. The device will reboot automatically.

When events occur, you can view their details in the alarm center.

Set Event Hint

This allows you to select which events will show a hint in the alarm center.

1. Click the alarm icon in the upper-right corner of the local menu to enter the alarm center.

2. Select Exception, Basic Event, or Smart Event to configure as you desire.

3. Click the settings icon and select the specific events to hint.

4. Click OK.

When a selected event occurs, the alarm information icon will be displayed in the upper-right corner of the local menu.

View Alarm in Alarm Center

1. Click the alarm icon in the upper-right corner of the local menu.

2. Select Exception, Basic Event, or Smart Event to view the details of your desired alarm type.

You can access the HIKVISION DS-7104HGHI-K1 via a web browser such as Internet Explorer, Apple Safari, Mozilla Firefox, and Google Chrome. Supported resolutions include 1024×768 and above.

Steps

1. Open a web browser, enter the IP address of the video recorder, and then press Enter.

– Note: If you have changed the HTTP port from the default (80), you must enter it in the address bar. For example: http://192.168.1.64:81

2. Enter the user name and password in the login interface.

3. Click Login.

4. On first login, you may need to follow installation prompts to install a plug-in. You may have to close the web browser to finish the installation.
