To register your WESTINGHOUSE WHI643BE and enjoy peace of mind, follow these steps:

3. Complete your details on the form to finish the registration.

To activate or deactivate your WESTINGHOUSE WHI643BE, touch the ON/OFF sensor field for 1 second.

The Automatic Switch Off function will deactivate the appliance automatically if:

• All cooking zones are deactivated.

• You do not set a heat setting after you activate the appliance.

• You spill something or place an object (like a pan or cloth) on the control panel for more than 10 seconds. An alarm will sound before it deactivates.

• The appliance becomes too hot, for example, when a saucepan boils dry. The cooking zone must cool before you can use it again.

• You use incorrect cookware. The symbol ‘F’ will appear, and the cooking zone will deactivate after 2 minutes.

• You do not deactivate a cooking zone or change its heat setting for an extended period. The time depends on the heat setting, as shown in the table below.

To set the heat, touch the control bar at the desired heat setting (from 1 to 9). You can slide your finger to the left or right if necessary. Do not release your finger until you have selected the correct heat setting. The display will show the selected number.

The Automatic Heat Up function allows you to reach a desired heat setting faster by first using the highest heat setting for a short time.

To start the function for a cooking zone:

1. Touch P. The symbol ‘P’ will appear on the display.

2. Immediately touch ‘+’ adjacent to the element you want to control. The symbol ‘A’ will appear on the display.

3. Immediately touch ‘-‘ adjacent to the element again and again until the desired heat setting is shown. After 3 seconds, ‘A’ will remain on the display, indicating the function is active.

4. To stop the function, touch ‘+’ adjacent to the element you want to control.

The Power function provides additional power to an induction cooking zone for a maximum of 10 minutes, ideal for heating large quantities of water quickly. After 10 minutes, the zone automatically reverts to the highest standard heat setting.

To activate it, touch ‘P’. The symbol ‘P’ will appear in the display.

To deactivate it, touch ‘P’ again or adjust the heat setting using the control bar.

The Count Down Timer can be used to set a cooking time for a single zone.

1. Select the cooking zone you wish to time. You can set the heat level before or after setting the timer.

2. To select the zone for the timer, touch the TIMER sensor field repeatedly until the indicator for the desired zone appears.

3. Touch ‘+’ or ‘-‘ of the timer to set the time (from 00 to 99 minutes). When the zone indicator flashes slowly, the timer is counting down.

4. To check the remaining time, select the cooking zone with the TIMER sensor. The indicator will flash faster, and the display will show the remaining time.

5. To change the time, select the cooking zone with the TIMER sensor and touch ‘+’ or ‘-‘.

6. To stop the timer, select the cooking zone with the TIMER sensor, then touch ‘-‘. The remaining time will count down to 00 and the indicator will go out.

When the time has elapsed, a sound will operate, and ’00’ will flash on the timer display. The cooking zone will switch off. Touch the TIMER sensor to stop the sound.

You can use the timer as a Minute Minder when the cooking zones are not in use. Touch the TIMER sensor field. Then, touch ‘+’ or ‘-‘ of the timer to select the desired time. When the time elapses, a sound will operate, and ’00’ will flash on the display. Touch the TIMER to stop the sound.

The PAUSE function sets all active cooking zones to the lowest heat setting (keep warm). When PAUSE is active, you cannot change the heat setting, but the timer function will continue to run.

• To activate this function, touch the PAUSE sensor. The symbol ‘II’ will appear.

• To deactivate this function, touch PAUSE again. The previous heat settings will be restored.

This function prevents accidental operation of the appliance.

To activate the Child Safety Device:

1. Activate the appliance with ON/OFF. Do not set any heat settings.

2. Touch PAUSE / LOCK for 4 seconds. The symbol ‘L’ will appear.

3. Deactivate the appliance with ON/OFF.

To deactivate the Child Safety Device:

1. Activate the appliance with ON/OFF. Do not set any heat settings.

2. Touch PAUSE / LOCK for 4 seconds. The symbol ‘0’ will appear.

3. Deactivate the appliance with ON/OFF.

To override the Child Safety Device for one cooking session:

1. Activate the appliance with ON/OFF. The symbol ‘L’ will appear.

2. Touch PAUSE / LOCK for 4 seconds.

3. Set the desired heat setting within 10 seconds. You can now operate the appliance.

4. When you deactivate the appliance with ON/OFF, the Child Safety Device will be active again.

The SenseBoil® function automatically adjusts the water temperature to prevent it from boiling over. It works best for boiling water and preparing potatoes.

1. Touch ON/OFF to activate the hob.

2. Touch Boil Protect to activate the function. A blinking icon will appear for cooking zones where the function can be used. If there is residual heat on a zone, the function will not start.

3. Touch the control bar of an available cooking zone (between heat setting 1-9) to start the function for that zone. If you do not select a zone within 5 seconds, the function will not activate.

4. Once started, the indicators above the Boil Protect symbol will light up one by one as the water heats. When the hob detects the boiling point, it will emit a beep, and the heat level will automatically change to 5.

To deactivate the function, touch Boil Protect (the heat setting will go to 0) or manually adjust the heat setting on the control bar.

For best results with SenseBoil®:

• The function works best with enamelled steel pots. It does not work well with cast iron or non-stick cookware.

• Fill the pot with 1 to 5 litres of cold tap water, leaving at least 4 cm from the pot’s rim. The total weight of water (or water and potatoes) should be between 1-5 kg.

• When cooking potatoes, ensure they are whole, unpeeled, medium-sized, and completely covered with water, leaving at least a quarter of the pot empty.

• Avoid external vibrations (e.g., from a blender) near the appliance while the function is running.

• If you want to add salt, do so after the water has reached its boiling point.

• The function may not work properly with water kettles or espresso pots.

Hob2Hood is an automatic function that connects your WESTINGHOUSE WHI643BE to a special compatible rangehood. The rangehood’s fan speed is adjusted automatically based on the mode and temperature of the hottest cookware on the hob.

Operating the function automatically:

The default mode is H5. When you activate the hob, the hood will adjust the fan speed automatically based on your cooking (boiling, frying). To change the automatic mode, you must first deactivate the appliance, then touch ON/OFF for 3 seconds. Touch LOCK for 3 seconds, then a few times until H appears. Finally, touch + on the timer to select a mode from H0 to H6.

Operating the fan speed manually:

1. To operate the fan manually, touch the ‘Auto’ symbol on the hob control panel while the hob is active. This deactivates the automatic mode.

2. Pressing ‘Auto’ again raises the fan speed by one level.

3. When you reach the intensive level and press ‘Auto’ again, the fan speed will be set to 0, deactivating the hood fan.

4. To start the fan again, press ‘Auto’ to set it to fan speed 1.

For induction cooking, a strong electromagnetic field creates heat directly in the cookware. Therefore, the cookware material must be magnetic.

• Correct materials: Cast iron, steel, enamelled steel, and stainless steel with a multi-layer bottom (look for a compatibility mark from the manufacturer).

• Incorrect materials: Aluminium, copper, brass, glass, ceramic, or porcelain.

To check if your cookware is compatible, place a magnet on the bottom of the pot or pan. If the magnet clings firmly, the cookware will work. The bottom of the cookware should be as thick and flat as possible.

The following sounds are normal during operation and do not indicate a malfunction:

• Crack noise: Occurs if cookware is made of different materials (sandwich construction).

• Whistle sound: Can occur when using one or more high-power cooking zones with cookware made of different materials.

• Humming: Happens when using high power levels.

• Clicking: This is the sound of the electric switching.

• Hissing, buzzing: This is the sound of the cooling fan operating.

The following table provides guidance on heat settings for various cooking applications.

Clean the appliance after each use with cookware that has a clean bottom. Scratches or dark stains on the glass ceramic do not affect the appliance’s operation.

To remove dirt:

1. Remove immediately: For melted plastic, plastic foil, and food with sugar, use a special glass scraper while the surface is still warm. Hold the scraper at an acute angle to the glass and move the blade across the surface. If you don’t remove these immediately, they can cause damage.

2. Remove when cool: For limescale rings, water rings, fat stains, and shiny metallic discolorations, wait for the appliance to cool sufficiently. Use a special cleaning agent for glass ceramic or stainless steel.

3. Clean the appliance with a moist cloth and some neutral detergent.

4. Finally, rub the appliance dry with a clean cloth.

If a deposit is hard to remove, you can use a non-abrasive scratch pad or a specially designed razor blade scraper for glass-ceramic cooktops.

The zone is not hot because it operated only for a short time, or the sensor is damaged. If the zone operated sufficiently long to be hot but the indicator does not show, speak to an Authorised Service Centre.

This is due to the Power Management function operating. The function divides power between cooking zones on the same phase to prevent overloading. This is normal operation. Refer to “Power management” in the “Operating Instructions” section.

The cookware is too large or you have placed it too close to the controls. If possible, put large cookware on the rear cooking zones.

The ‘L’ symbol indicates that the Child Safety Device or Lock function is activated. To use the hob, you must deactivate this feature. Refer to the “Operating Instructions” for how to deactivate the lock.

This indicates an error in the hob. To resolve this, deactivate the hob and then activate it again after 30 seconds. If the error code reappears, disconnect the hob from the electrical supply for 30 seconds, then reconnect it. If the problem continues, speak to an Authorised Service Centre.
