To register your WESTINGHOUSE WHI323BD appliance and enjoy peace of mind, follow these steps:

1. Open the camera app on your smartphone and point it at the QR code to scan. The Product Registration QR code is located on the top surface or underside of your appliance.

2. Tap the notification or link that appears to open the registration form.

3. Complete your details to stay updated on better living services, safety notices, and shop for accessories.

OptiHeat Control (h/H) shows the level of the residual heat. The glass ceramic is hot from the heat of the cookware.

Touch the ON/OFF sensor field for 1 second to activate or deactivate the appliance.

The Automatic Switch Off function deactivates the appliance automatically if:

• All cooking zones are deactivated.

• You do not set the heat setting after you activate the appliance.

• You spill something or put something on the control panel for more than 10 seconds (e.g., a pan, a cloth). A sound will operate, and the appliance will deactivate. Remove the object or clean the control panel to use it again.

• The appliance becomes too hot (e.g., when a saucepan boils dry). Let the cooking zone cool before using it again.

• You use incorrect cookware. The symbol ‘F’ will appear, and the cooking zone will deactivate automatically after 2 minutes.

• You do not deactivate a cooking zone or change the heat setting for a long period. An indicator will come on, and the appliance will deactivate. The time depends on the heat setting:

To set the heat level, touch the control bar at the desired heat setting. You can slide your finger to the left or the right if necessary. Do not release your finger until you have selected the correct heat setting. The display will show the selected heat setting (1-9).

The Automatic Heat Up function allows you to reach a necessary heat setting in a shorter time. It sets the highest heat setting for a period and then automatically decreases to the necessary heat setting you selected.

To start the Automatic Heat Up function:

1. Touch P (the letter P comes on in the display).

2. Immediately touch + adjacent to the element you want to control. The symbol ‘A’ comes on in the display.

3. Immediately touch – adjacent to the element again and again until the necessary heat setting comes on. After 3 seconds, ‘A’ will remain on the display.

4. To stop the function, touch + adjacent to the element you want to control.

The Power function makes more power available to the induction cooking zones. It is activated for a maximum of 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, the induction cooking zone automatically sets back to the highest heat setting.

• To activate: Touch the P sensor. The letter P will appear on the display.

• To deactivate: Touch the P sensor adjacent to the element you want to control.

The cooking zones on your WESTINGHOUSE WHI323BD are connected to one phase. The Power Management function activates when the total electricity load of the cooking zones exceeds the maximum available. The function divides the power between the cooking zones, decreasing the power of other active zones. The heat setting display of the reduced zones will alternate between the chosen setting and the reduced setting for a time before staying on the reduced heat setting.

Use the Count Down Timer to set how long a cooking zone operates for a single time. Set the timer after selecting a cooking zone.

• To set the cooking zone for the timer: Touch the TIMER sensor repeatedly until the indicator of the required cooking zone appears.

• To start the timer: Touch + or – of the timer to set the time (00-99 minutes). When the indicator of the cooking zone flashes slower, the time is counting down.

• To check the remaining time: Select the cooking zone with the TIMER sensor. The indicator for that zone will flash faster, and the display shows the remaining time.

• To change the time: Select the cooking zone with the TIMER sensor, then touch + or –.

• To stop the timer: Select the cooking zone with the TIMER sensor. Touch –. The remaining time counts backwards to 00. The indicator of the cooking zone goes out. You can also touch + and – at the same time to switch off the timer.

When the set time elapses, a sound will operate, 00 will flash, and the cooking zone will switch off. To stop the sound, touch the TIMER sensor.

You can use the timer as a Minute Minder when the cooking zones are not operating.

1. Touch the TIMER sensor.

2. Touch + or – of the timer to select the time.

When the time elapses, a sound operates and 00 flashes. Touch any sensor to stop the sound.

The PAUSE function sets all operating cooking zones to the lowest heat setting (keep warm). When PAUSE is active, you cannot change the heat setting. The timer function is not stopped by PAUSE.

• To activate: Touch the PAUSE button. The symbol for the keep warm setting will appear.

• To deactivate: Touch the PAUSE button again. The heat setting you previously set will be restored.

When the cooking zones are operating, you can lock the control panel to prevent an accidental change of the heat setting. The ON/OFF button will still function.

1. First, set the desired heat setting.

2. To start the function, touch the LOCK button. The symbol ‘L’ will appear for 4 seconds, and the Timer will stay on.

3. To stop the function, touch the LOCK button again. The heat setting that you set before will be restored.

When you turn off the appliance, the Lock function also stops.

The Child Safety Device prevents accidental operation of the appliance.

To activate the Child Safety Device:

1. Activate the appliance with ON/OFF. Do not set any heat settings.

2. Touch the LOCK button for 4 seconds. The symbol ‘L’ will come on.

3. Deactivate the appliance with ON/OFF.

To deactivate the Child Safety Device:

1. Activate the appliance with ON/OFF. Do not set any heat settings.

2. Touch the LOCK button for 4 seconds. The symbol ‘L’ will turn off.

3. Deactivate the appliance with ON/OFF.

3. Set the heat setting within 10 seconds. You can now operate the appliance.

When you deactivate the appliance with ON/OFF, the Child Safety Device will operate again.

For induction cooking, a strong electromagnetic field creates heat directly in the cookware.

Suitable Cookware Materials:

• Cast iron, steel, enamelled steel, stainless steel, and multi-layer bottoms (with a correct mark from the manufacturer).

Unsuitable Cookware Materials:

• Aluminium, copper, brass, glass, ceramic, or porcelain.

To check if your cookware is correct for induction:

• A small amount of water should boil very quickly on a zone set to the highest heat setting.

• A magnet should stick firmly to the bottom of the cookware.

The bottom of the cookware must be as thick and flat as possible.

The following noises are normal during operation and do not indicate a malfunction:

• Crack noise: Occurs if cookware is made of different materials (sandwich construction).

• Whistle sound: Occurs if you use one or more cooking zones with high power levels and the cookware is made of different materials.

• Humming: Occurs when you use high power levels.

• Clicking: Occurs due to electric switching.

• Hissing, buzzing: Occurs when the fan operates.

The following table is for guidance only.

The Power function (P) is best to heat up large quantities of water.

Clean the appliance after each use with cookware that has a clean bottom. Scratches or dark stains on the glass ceramic do not affect the operation of the appliance.

To remove dirt:

1. Remove immediately: For melted plastic, plastic foil, and food with sugar, use a special glass scraper. Place the scraper on the glass surface at an acute angle and move the blade across the surface. Do this while the cooktop is still warm but not hot.

2. Remove after the appliance is cool: For limescale rings, water rings, fat stains, and shiny metallic discolorations, use a special cleaning agent for glass ceramic or stainless steel.

3. Clean the appliance with a moist cloth and some detergent.

4. At the end, rub the appliance dry with a clean cloth.

If a deposit is minimal, you can simply wipe it off with a dry cloth. For more significant deposits, use a moist, soapy sponge and rinse off.

If a deposit does not clean off easily, you can use a non-abrasive scratch pad and a specially adapted glass-ceramic cleaning product. After cleaning, apply a glass ceramic cooktop conditioner to protect the surface.

If an acoustic signal sounds and the hob deactivates, it is likely because you have placed something on one or more sensor fields (e.g., a pan, cloth, or spilled liquid). Remove the object from the sensor fields to resolve the issue.

The cooking zone may not be hot because it operated for only a short time. If the zone was operated long enough to be hot and the indicator still does not come on, the sensor may be damaged. In this case, speak to an Authorised Service Centre.

This is normal operation of the Power Management feature. It adjusts the power distribution between the cooking zones to prevent overloading the circuit.

The cookware you are using is too large, or you have placed it too near to the controls. If possible, put large cookware on the rear zones.

The ‘L’ symbol indicates that the Child Safety Device or the Lock function is activated. You will need to deactivate it to operate the cooktop normally.

The ‘F’ symbol indicates a cookware issue. This can be caused by:

• There is no cookware on the zone. Remedy: Put cookware on the zone.

• The cookware is unsuitable for induction. Remedy: Use suitable cookware.

• The diameter of the bottom of the cookware is too small for the zone. Remedy: Use cookware with correct dimensions as specified in the “Technical data” section.

• If ‘F’ and a number appear alternately, the power is too low due to unsuitable cookware or an empty pot. Remedy: Use the appropriate type of cookware and do not activate a zone with an empty pot on it.

This indicates an error in the hob. To resolve this:

1. Deactivate the hob and activate it again after 30 seconds.

2. If the code comes on again, disconnect the hob from the electrical supply.

3. After 30 seconds, connect the hob again.

If the problem continues, speak to an Authorised Service Centre.

A constant beep noise indicates that the electrical connection is incorrect. You should disconnect the hob from the electrical supply and ask a qualified electrician to check the installation.
