What are the steps for hardware installation of the MOXA NPORT 5630-8?
STEP 1: Attach the Power Adapter
After removing the MOXA NPORT 5630-8 from the box, the first thing you should do is attach the power adapter.
STEP 2: Connecting the Power
AC Power: Connect the 100-240 VAC power cord to the AC connector. The “Ready” LED will show a solid red color until the system is ready, at which time it will change to a green color.
DC Power: Connect the power cord to the DC connector. For a model like the NPort 5610-8-48V, loosen the screws on the V+ and V- terminals. Connect the power cord’s 48 VDC or -48 VDC wire to the V+ terminal, and the DC Power Ground wire to the V- terminal. Then tighten the terminal block screws. The “Ready” LED will show a solid red color until the system is ready, at which time it will change to a green color.
Grounding the DC model: Grounding and wire routing help limit the effects of noise from electromagnetic interference (EMI). Run the ground connection from the ground screw to the grounding surface before connecting devices. For models like the NPort 5610-8-48V, the Shielded Ground (SG) contact is the second contact from the right of the 5-pin power terminal block connector. Connect the SG wire to the Earth ground.
STEP 3: Connect to a Network
Use a standard straight-through Ethernet cable to connect to a hub or switch. When setting up or testing, you can connect directly to your computer’s Ethernet port using a cross-over Ethernet cable.
STEP 4: Connect to a Serial Device
Connect the MOXA NPORT 5630-8’s serial port to a serial device.
Placement Options: You can place the device on a desktop or other horizontal surface.
