What are the steps for hardware installation of the MOXA NPORT 5650-16?
Follow these steps to install the MOXA NPORT 5650-16:
STEP 1: Attach Power
After removing the NPort 5600 from the box, attach the power adapter.
STEP 2: Connect Power
Connect the power based on your model type:
• AC Power: Connect the NPort’s 100-240 VAC power cord to the AC connector. The “Ready” LED will show a solid red color until the system is ready, at which time it will change to a green color.
• DC Power: Connect the power cord to the DC connector. For example, on a NPort 5610-8-48V, loosen the screws on the V+ and V- terminals. Connect the power cord’s 48 VDC or -48 VDC wire to the V+ terminal and the DC Power Ground wire to the V- terminal, then tighten the screws. The “Ready” LED will turn from solid red to green when the system is ready.
• Grounding (DC Models): To limit the effects of electromagnetic interference (EMI), run a ground connection from the ground screw to a grounding surface. On a model like the NPort 5610-8-48V, the Shielded Ground (SG) contact is the second from the right on the 5-pin terminal block. Connect the SG wire to the Earth ground.
STEP 3: Connect to Network
Use a standard straight-through Ethernet cable to connect the NPort 5600 to a hub or switch. If you are connecting directly to a computer’s Ethernet port for setup or testing, use a cross-over Ethernet cable.
STEP 4: Connect Serial Device
Connect the NPort 5600’s serial port to your serial device.
The device can be placed on a desktop or another horizontal surface.
