When using the HIKVISION DS-7232HGHI-K2, you must adhere to the following safety instructions:

• Firmly connect the plug to the power socket. Do not connect several devices to one power adapter. Power off the device before connecting and disconnecting accessories and peripherals.

• Shock hazard! Disconnect all power sources before maintenance.

• The equipment must be connected to an earthed mains socket-outlet.

• The socket-outlet shall be installed near the equipment and shall be easily accessible.

• The hazardous live symbol indicates that the external wiring connected to the terminals requires installation by an instructed person.

• Never place the equipment in an unstable location. The equipment may fall, causing serious personal injury or death.

• Input voltage should meet the SELV (Safety Extra Low Voltage) and the LPS (Limited Power Source) according to IEC60950-1.

• High touch current! Connect to earth before connecting to the power supply.

• If smoke, odor or noise rise from the device, turn off the power at once and unplug the power cable, and then please contact the service center.

• Use the device in conjunction with an UPS, and use a factory-recommended HDD if possible.

• This product contains a coin/button cell battery. If the battery is swallowed, it can cause severe internal burns in just 2 hours and can lead to death.

• This equipment is not suitable for use in locations where children are likely to be present.

• CAUTION: Risk of explosion if the battery is replaced by an incorrect type.

• Improper replacement of the battery with an incorrect type may defeat a safeguard (for example, in the case of some lithium battery types).

• Do not dispose of the battery into fire or a hot oven, or mechanically crush or cut the battery, which may result in an explosion.

• Do not leave the battery in an extremely high temperature surrounding environment, which may result in an explosion or the leakage of flammable liquid or gas.

• Do not subject the battery to extremely low air pressure, which may result in an explosion or the leakage of flammable liquid or gas.

• Dispose of used batteries according to the instructions.

• Keep body parts away from fan blades and motors. Disconnect the power source during servicing.

Before connecting and operating your HIKVISION DS-7232HGHI-K2, please be advised of the following tips:

• The device is designed for indoor use only. Install it in a well-ventilated, dust-free environment without liquids.

• Ensure the recorder is properly secured to a rack or shelf. Major shocks or jolts to the recorder as a result of dropping it may cause damage to the sensitive electronics within the recorder.

• The equipment shall not be exposed to dripping or splashing and no objects filled with liquids, such as vases, shall be placed on the equipment.

• No naked flame sources, such as lighted candles, should be placed on the equipment.

• Ventilation should not be impeded by covering the ventilation openings with items such as newspapers, table-cloths, curtains, etc. The openings shall never be blocked by placing the equipment on a bed, sofa, rug, or other similar surface.

• For certain models, ensure correct wiring of the terminals for connection to an AC mains supply.

• For certain models, the equipment has been designed, when required, modified for connection to an IT power distribution system.

• The ‘+’ symbol identifies the battery holder itself and the positioning of the cell(s) inside the battery holder.

• ‘+’ identifies the positive terminal(s) of equipment which is used with, or generates direct current. ‘-‘ identifies the negative terminal(s) of equipment which is used with, or generates direct current.

• Keep a minimum 200 mm (7.87 inch) distance around the equipment for sufficient ventilation.

• Use only power supplies listed in the user manual or user instruction.

• The USB port of the equipment is used for connecting to a mouse, keyboard, USB flash drive, or Wi-Fi dongle only.

• Do not touch the sharp edges or corners.

For first-time access, you must activate the HIKVISION DS-7232HGHI-K2 by setting an admin password. No operation is allowed before activation.

Before you start, power on your device.

Follow these steps:

1. Select a language.

2. Click Next.

3. Input the same password in the Password and Confirm Password fields.

Strong Password Recommended: We highly recommend you create a strong password of your own choosing (using a minimum of 8 characters, including at least three of the following categories: upper case letters, lower case letters, numbers, and special characters) to increase the security of your product. We also recommend you reset your password regularly, especially in a high-security system; resetting the password monthly or weekly can better protect your product.

4. Activate network camera(s) connected to the device.

– Check ‘Use Device Password as Default’ to use the device password to activate inactive network camera(s).

– Or, enter a password to activate network camera(s).

5. Optional: Set an email address for password resetting. If you forget your password, you can reset it by email.

1) Check Enable.

2) Enter an email address.

6. Click Activate.

The admin user can use an unlock pattern to log in. You can configure the unlock pattern after the device is activated.

Set Unlock Pattern:

1. Use the mouse to draw a pattern among the 9 dots on the screen. Release the mouse when the pattern is done.

– The pattern must have at least 4 dots.

– Each dot can be connected only once.

2. Draw the same pattern again to confirm it. When the two patterns match, the pattern is configured successfully.

Log in via Unlock Pattern:

1. Right-click the mouse on the live view interface.

2. Draw the pre-defined pattern to unlock and enter the menu operation.

Note: If you have forgotten your pattern, click ‘Forgot My Pattern’ or ‘Switch User’ to log in via password. If you draw the wrong pattern more than 5 times, the system will switch to the normal login mode automatically.

If your HIKVISION DS-7232HGHI-K2 has logged out, you must log in before operating the menu and other functions.

Steps:

1. Select your User Name from the dropdown list.

2. Input your password.

3. Click Login.

Note: If you forget the admin password, you can click ‘Forgot Password’ to reset it. If you enter the wrong password 7 times, the current user account will be locked for 60 seconds.

Here’s how to navigate and use the Live View interface:

• Click the auto-switch icon to start/stop automatically switching between screens.

• Click the record icon to start/stop all-day recording.

• Right-click a camera or click the full-screen icon to enter full-screen mode.

• Double-click a camera to view it in single-screen mode. Double-click again to exit.

• Change a camera’s position by dragging its screen to the desired location.

• Scroll up/down to turn to the previous/next screen.

• Position the cursor on a camera to show the shortcut menu.

Shortcut Menu Description:

In the live view interface, icons at the upper-right corner of each camera show the recording and alarm status.

You must configure PTZ parameters before controlling a PTZ camera.

Steps:

1. Preview a camera in live view and click the PTZ control icon on the shortcut menu.

2. Click ‘PTZ Parameter Settings’.

3. Set the PTZ camera parameters, such as Baud Rate, Data Bit, Stop Bit, Parity, Flow Ctrl, PTZ Protocol, and Address.

Note:

• All parameters should be the same as those of the PTZ camera.

• For a Coaxitron camera/dome, you can select the PTZ protocol to UTC (Coaxitron). Ensure the selected protocol is supported by the connected camera/dome.

• AHD and HDCVI cameras support coaxitron control.

• Selecting the Coaxitron protocol will make other parameters (baud rate, data bit, etc.) unavailable.

4. Click OK.

The PTZ control panel allows you to control the camera’s movement and settings. Here is a description of the panel’s functions:

A preset is a saved location that the PTZ camera will point to when an event occurs or when called manually.

Set a Preset:

1. Preview a camera in live view and click the PTZ icon on the shortcut menu.

2. Select a desired preset number from the preset list.

3. Use the direction buttons to move the camera to the required location. Adjust zoom and focus as desired.

4. Click the set/save icon to save the preset.

Call a Preset:

Double-click a preset in the preset list to call it. The camera will move to the saved position.

A patrol is a path consisting of a series of presets that the camera follows in a designated sequence.

Customize a Patrol:

1. Preview a camera in live view and click the PTZ icon on its shortcut menu.

2. Click ‘Patrol’.

3. Select a desired patrol number.

4. Click ‘Set’.

5. Click the ‘+’ button to add a key point.

6. Configure the key point parameters:

– Preset: The key point corresponds to a preset number, which determines the order in the patrol.

– Duration: The time span the camera will stay at the corresponding key point.

– Speed: The speed at which the PTZ will move from one key point to the next.

7. Click ‘Apply’.

Call a Patrol:

Select a patrol and click ‘Call’ to start it. The PTZ camera will move according to the predefined patrol path.

A pattern records the exact movement path and dwell time of the PTZ camera.

Record a Pattern:

1. Preview a camera in live view and click the PTZ icon on its shortcut menu.

2. Click ‘Pattern’.

3. Select a pattern number.

4. Click ‘Record’.

5. Use the direction buttons, zoom, and focus to move the camera as desired. The system will record all movements.

6. Click ‘Stop Recording’. The PTZ camera’s moving path is now recorded as a pattern.

Call a Pattern:

Select a pattern and click ‘Call’ to start it. The PTZ camera will move according to the predefined pattern.

You can play back normal recorded videos by following these steps:

1. Go to ‘Playback’.

2. Select a camera from the camera list.

3. Select a date on the calendar for playback. A blue triangle at the corner of a date indicates there are available videos for that day.

4. Optionally, position the cursor on the playback window to show the control bar. From here you can add tags, turn audio on/off, zoom, and lock/unlock the video.

On the timeline:

• Position the cursor on the timeline and drag it to a specific time.

• Blue bars indicate continuously recorded video. Red bars indicate event-triggered video.

• Scroll your mouse wheel up/down to zoom in/out of the timeline.

Smart playback allows you to quickly find video segments containing motion, line crossing, or intrusion detection events.

Before You Start: Ensure you have configured motion detection, line crossing detection, or intrusion detection rules and areas.

Steps:

1. Go to ‘Playback’.

2. Click ‘Smart’.

3. Select a camera.

4. Position the cursor on the playback window to show the control bar.

5. Use the icons on the control bar to set detection areas for the smart event:

– Line Crossing Detection: Click the line icon and draw a detection line.

– Intrusion Detection: Click the region icon and specify 4 points to set a quadrilateral region.

– Motion Detection: Click the motion grid icon and drag to set the detection area manually.

6. Click the gear icon to configure the play strategy, such as choosing not to play normal videos or setting different playback speeds for normal and smart/custom video.

You can clip and export videos to a backup device like a USB flash drive or USB HDD.

Before You Start: Connect a backup device to your video recorder.

Steps:

1. Start playback of the desired video. Refer to Normal Playback for details.

2. Click the ‘Clip’ (scissors) icon on the main playback control bar.

3. Define the video clip:

– Click the ‘Start Clipping’ icon, set a start and end time, and click OK.

– Alternatively, drag the sliders on the time bar to select a time segment for clipping.

4. Click the ‘Export’ (save) icon.

5. Click ‘Export’ to export the clip to the connected backup device.

Search and Export Files:

1. Go to ‘Search’.

2. Set your search conditions (e.g., camera, date, time).

3. Click ‘Search’.

4. From the search results:

– Click the play icon to play the video.

– Click the lock icon to lock the file. Locked files will not be overwritten.

– Select one or more files and click ‘Export’ to export them to a backup device.

Quick Backup:

Before You Start: Connect a backup device to your video recorder.

1. Go to ‘Search’.

2. Set the search conditions.

3. Click ‘Quick Export’.

4. Select the backup device and path.

5. Click OK to start exporting.

In Easy Mode, you can configure basic settings like output resolution, system time, and more.

1. Go to Configuration → System → General.

2. Configure the parameters as needed:

– Enable Wizard: The wizard will pop up after the device starts up.

– Enable Password: You will need to enter a password for authentication if the device automatically logs out.

– Enable NTP: Network Time Protocol (NTP) allows the device to connect to an NTP server to sync its time.

– Interval (min): The time interval between two time synchronizations with the NTP server.

– NTP Server: The IP address of the NTP server.

– NTP Port: The port of the NTP server.

3. Click Apply.

The default ‘admin’ user has permission to add, delete, and edit other users.

Steps to add a new user:

1. Go to Configuration → User.

2. Click Add and confirm your admin password.

3. Enter a user name.

4. Enter the same password in the Password and Confirm fields.

5. Select a User Level (e.g., Guest). A guest user only has live view, playback, and log search permissions.

6. Click OK.

You can also click the edit icon next to a user to modify their details.

You must properly configure network settings before operating the device over a network.

1. Go to Configuration → Network → General.

2. Set the network parameters:

– DHCP: If a DHCP server is available, you can check ‘Enable DHCP’ to automatically obtain an IP address and other network settings from that server.

– Obtain DNS Automatically: If DHCP is checked, you can check this option to automatically obtain the Preferred DNS Server and Alternate DNS Server addresses.

– If not using DHCP, manually enter the IPv4 Address, IPv4 Subnet Mask, and IPv4 Default Gateway.

3. Click Apply.

Guarding Vision provides a mobile phone application and platform service for remote access to your device.

Steps:

1. Go to Configuration → Network → Platform Access.

2. Select Access Type as ‘Guarding Vision’.

3. Check Enable. The service terms will pop up.

1) Scan the QR code to read the service terms and privacy statement.

2) Check ‘I have read and agree to Service Terms and Privacy Statement’ if you agree.

3) Click OK.

4. Optional: Check ‘Stream Encryption’. This requires entering a verification code for remote access and live view.

5. Optional: Check ‘Custom’, and edit the Server Address.

6. Enter a code in the Verification Code field. You can click Refresh to randomly generate a code.

7. Click Apply.

What to do next:

a. Scan the first QR code to download the Guarding Vision app.

b. Open Guarding Vision and scan the second QR code to add your video recorder.

You can add network cameras manually or by searching for online cameras.

Before You Start:

• Ensure the network camera is on the same network segment as your video recorder.

• Ensure the network connection is valid and correct.

• Only activated network cameras can be added.

Add Network Camera Manually:

1. Go to Configuration → Camera → IP Camera.

2. Click the ‘+’ (Add) icon.

3. Set the network camera parameters, including IP address, protocol, management port, etc.

4. Optional: Click ‘Add More’ to add another network camera.

5. Click OK.

Add Automatically Searched Network Camera:

1. Go to Configuration → Camera → IP Camera.

2. Online cameras on the same network segment will be displayed in the camera list.

3. Click the ‘+’ icon next to a camera in the list to add it.

You can configure OSD settings like date format, camera name, and their position on the screen.

1. Go to Configuration → Camera → OSD.

2. Select a camera.

3. Configure the settings:

– Camera Name: Edit the name of the camera.

– Display Name, Display Date, Display Week: Check the boxes to show this information on the screen.

– Date Format / Time Format: Select your preferred formats.

– Display Mode: Choose transparency options.

4. Drag the text frames on the preview window to adjust the OSD position.

5. Click Apply.

Motion detection enables the video recorder to detect moving objects and trigger alarms.

1. Go to Configuration → Camera → Smart Event → Motion Detection.

2. Select a camera.

3. Check Enable.

4. In the ‘Area Settings’ tab, set the motion detection area:

– Full screen: Click ‘Full Screen’ to set the entire view as the detection area.

– Customized area: Drag on the preview window to draw custom motion detection areas.

– Clear: Click ‘Clear’ to clear the current motion detection areas.

5. Adjust Sensitivity. A higher value results in more readily triggered motion detection.

6. Go to the ‘Arming Schedule’ tab to set the schedule for when motion detection is active.

7. Go to the ‘Linkage Action’ tab to set what happens when motion is detected (e.g., record, send email).

8. Click Apply.

The recording schedule determines when the HIKVISION DS-7232HGHI-K2 will automatically start and stop recording.

1. Go to Configuration → Record → Schedule.

2. Select a camera from the Camera No. dropdown list.

3. Check Enable.

4. Configure the schedule:

– You can either click to select a schedule type (Continuous or Event) and then drag the mouse on the timeline for each day to draw a colored bar for that period.

– Or, click Edit for more detailed scheduling:

a. Select a day of the week.

b. To set an all-day schedule, check All Day and select a schedule type.

c. To set specific time periods, uncheck All Day, and set the Start/End Time and schedule type for up to 8 different periods. Time periods cannot be overlapped.

d. Click OK to save the edited schedule.

5. Click Apply to save the overall schedule settings.

A newly installed HDD must be initialized before it can be used to save videos and information.

Before You Start: Install at least one HDD into your video recorder.

Steps:

1. Go to Configuration → Record → Storage.

2. Select the HDD you want to initialize from the list.

3. Click Init.

The system will then format the drive, making it ready for recording.

Privacy masks allow you to configure areas within a camera’s view that cannot be viewed or recorded.

Steps:

1. Go to Configuration → Camera → Privacy Mask.

2. Select the desired camera.

3. Check Enable.

4. Drag your mouse on the preview window to draw a rectangular area. The frames of the masked areas will be marked with different colors. You can configure up to 4 privacy mask areas, and the size of each area can be adjusted.

5. Click Apply.

You can restore your device’s settings through the Maintenance menu.

Steps:

1. Go to Maintenance.

2. Select the restoring type:

– Simple Restore: Restores all parameters to factory default settings, except for network settings (IP address, subnet mask, gateway, etc.) and user account parameters.

– Factory Defaults: Restores all parameters to the factory default settings.

– Restore to Inactive: Restores the device to an inactive status, leaving all settings unchanged except for restoring user accounts.

3. Click Yes. The device will reboot automatically to apply the changes.

You can upgrade the firmware locally from a backup device or online.

Warning: Do not shut down or turn off the power during the upgrade process.

Local Upgrade:

1. Store the upgrade firmware file on a backup device (e.g., USB flash drive) and connect it to your HIKVISION DS-7232HGHI-K2.

2. Go to Maintenance.

3. Select your backup device in ‘Device Name’.

4. Select the upgrade firmware file.

5. Click Upgrade. Your device will reboot automatically after the upgrade is complete.

Online Upgrade:

1. Ensure Guarding Vision is enabled and configured.

2. Go to Maintenance.

3. Go to Online Upgrade.

4. Download the latest firmware:

– Auto Download: The device will automatically check for and download the latest firmware.

– Test Upgrade: Click ‘Test Upgrade’ to manually check for and download the latest firmware.

5. If a new firmware version is available, the device will prompt you to upgrade. The device will reboot automatically upon completion.

You can access the video recorder via a web browser for live view, playback, and configuration.

Supported Browsers: Internet Explorer 6.0 to 11.0, Apple Safari, Mozilla Firefox, and Google Chrome. Supported resolutions include 1024×768 and above.

Login Steps:

1. Open a web browser and enter the IP address of the video recorder in the address bar, then press Enter. If you have changed the HTTP port, enter it as `http://IP_address:HTTP_port` (e.g., http://192.168.1.64:81).

2. Enter your user name and password in the login interface.

3. Click Login.

4. On the first login, you may be prompted to install a plug-in. Follow the installation prompts. You may need to close the web browser to complete the installation.

After logging in, you will see the live view interface. You can navigate to Playback, Configuration, and Log sections using the tabs at the top of the page.

Dual-stream is a technology used to record high-resolution video locally while simultaneously transmitting a lower-resolution stream over the network. The two streams are generated by the DVR, with the main stream having a maximum resolution of 1080P and the sub-stream having a maximum resolution of CIF.
