• High touch current is present. Connect the device to earth before connecting the power supply.

• If you notice smoke, odor, or noise from the device, turn off the power immediately, unplug the power cable, and contact the service center.

• Use the device with a UPS if possible and use a factory-recommended HDD.

• This product contains a coin/button cell battery. If swallowed, it can cause severe internal burns in just 2 hours and can lead to death.

• This equipment is not suitable for use where children are likely to be present.

• CAUTION: There is a risk of explosion if the battery is replaced by an incorrect type. Improper replacement may defeat a safeguard.

• Do not dispose of the battery in fire or a hot oven, or mechanically crush or cut it, as this may cause an explosion.

• Do not leave the battery in an extremely high-temperature environment or subject it to extremely low air pressure, which could result in an explosion or leakage.

• Dispose of used batteries according to the instructions.

• Keep body parts away from fan blades and motors. Disconnect the power source during servicing.

Before connecting and operating your HIKVISION DS-7116HGHI-F1, please be advised of the following tips:

• The device is designed for indoor use only. Install it in a well-ventilated, dust-free environment without liquids.

• Ensure the recorder is properly secured to a rack or shelf to prevent damage from dropping.

• Do not expose the equipment to dripping or splashing, and do not place objects filled with liquids, such as vases, on it.

• Do not place naked flame sources, like lighted candles, on the equipment.

• Ensure ventilation is not impeded by covering openings with items like newspapers, tablecloths, or curtains. Never block openings by placing the equipment on a bed, sofa, rug, or similar surface.

• For certain models, ensure the correct wiring of terminals for connection to an AC mains supply.

• Keep a minimum distance of 200 mm (7.87 inches) around the equipment for sufficient ventilation.

• Use only power supplies listed in the user manual or user instruction.

• The USB port is for connecting a mouse, keyboard, USB flash drive, or Wi-Fi dongle only.

• Do not touch sharp edges or corners.

For first-time access, you must activate the HIKVISION DS-7116HGHI-F1 by setting an admin password. No operation is allowed before activation.

Before You Start:

Power on your device.

Steps:

1. Select a language from the list.

2. Click Next.

3. Input the same strong password in the Password and Confirm Password fields. A strong password should be a minimum of 8 characters and include at least three of the following: uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters.

4. To activate network cameras connected to the device, you can either:

– Check Use Device Password as Default to use the same password for the cameras.

– Enter a different password to activate the network cameras.

5. Optional: Set an email address for password resetting. If you forget your password, you can reset it via email.

1) Check Enable.

2) Enter an email address.

6. Click Activate.

The admin user can configure and use an unlock pattern for quick login after the HIKVISION DS-7116HGHI-F1 is activated.

Set Unlock Pattern:

1. Use the mouse to draw a pattern among the 9 dots on the screen. The pattern must connect at least 4 dots, and each dot can only be used once.

2. Release the mouse when the pattern is complete.

3. Draw the same pattern again to confirm it. If the two patterns match, it is configured successfully.

Log in via Unlock Pattern:

1. Right-click the mouse on the live view interface to bring up the Welcome screen.

2. Draw the pre-defined pattern to unlock the device and enter the menu operation.

Note: If you forget your pattern, click Forgot My Pattern or Switch User to log in with your password. If you draw the wrong pattern more than 5 times, the system will automatically switch to the normal password login mode.

If your HIKVISION DS-7116HGHI-F1 has logged out, you must log in before operating the menu and other functions.

Steps:

1. On the login screen, select a User Name (e.g., admin).

2. Input the corresponding password in the Password field.

3. Click Login.

Note: If you forget the admin password, you can click Forgot Password to initiate the reset process. If you enter the wrong password 7 times, the user account will be locked for 60 seconds.

The Live View screen allows you to monitor your cameras in real time.

General Navigation:

• Double-click a camera to view it in single-screen mode. Double-click again to exit.

• Drag a camera’s live view from its current screen to a desired screen to change its position.

• Scroll up or down with the mouse wheel to switch to the previous or next screen of cameras.

• Right-click a camera to enter full-screen mode.

Shortcut Menu:

Position the cursor over a camera’s live view to display the shortcut menu.

Live View Icons:

In the upper-right corner of each camera’s screen, icons indicate the camera’s status.

You must configure PTZ parameters before you can control a PTZ camera.

Steps:

1. In live view, hover over the desired camera and click the PTZ Control icon on the shortcut menu.

2. In the PTZ control panel, click PTZ Parameter Settings.

3. Set the camera parameters such as Baud Rate, Data Bit, Stop Bit, Parity, Flow Control, PTZ Protocol, and Address. These parameters must match the settings of the PTZ camera itself.

4. Click OK to save the settings.

Note: For Coaxitron, AHD, or HDCVI cameras that support control over the coaxial cable, you can select the PTZ protocol to UTC (Coaxitron). This will make other parameters like baud rate unavailable, as they are not needed.

The PTZ Control Panel allows for detailed control of your PTZ camera.

PTZ Control Panel Functions:

Customize a Preset:

A preset is a saved camera position.

1. Open the PTZ Control panel for the camera.

2. In the Preset tab, select a preset number from the list.

3. Use the direction buttons, zoom, and focus to move the camera to the desired location.

4. Click the Set icon to save the position to the selected preset number.

To call a preset, double-click it in the list.

Customize a Patrol:

A patrol is a path that cycles through a series of presets.

1. In the PTZ Control panel, click the Patrol tab.

2. Select a patrol number and click Set.

3. Click + to add a key point. Each key point corresponds to a preset.

4. Configure the Preset number, Duration (time to stay at the preset), and Speed (speed to move to the next preset).

5. Click Apply to save the patrol settings.

To start a patrol, select it and click Call.

Customize a Pattern:

A pattern records and replays a freeform movement path.

1. In the PTZ Control panel, click the Pattern tab.

2. Select a pattern number and click Record.

3. Use the direction buttons, zoom, and focus to move the camera as desired. The device will record all movements.

4. Click Stop Recording to save the pattern.

To start a pattern, select it and click Call.

You can play back recorded videos from the Playback menu.

Normal Playback Steps:

1. Go to Playback.

2. Select one or more cameras from the camera list on the left.

3. Select a date on the calendar. Dates with a blue triangle have available video recordings.

4. The timeline at the bottom will display recorded video. Click on the timeline to start playback from that point.

• The blue bar on the timeline indicates continuous video, and the red bar indicates event video.

• Use the mouse scroll wheel to zoom in and out of the timeline.

Playback Controls:

Use the control bar at the bottom of the screen for playback functions.

Playback Window Controls:

Hover the cursor over the playback window to show another control bar.

Smart Playback and Sub-Periods Playback are advanced features to help you find relevant footage more efficiently.

Smart Playback:

This mode analyzes video for motion, line crossing, or intrusion events, skipping periods with no activity.

1. Go to Playback and click the Smart tab.

2. Select a camera and date.

3. The system will analyze and play back only the video segments containing the specified smart events.

4. Hover over the playback window to show the control bar, where you can draw detection areas for motion, intrusion, or line crossing to further filter the playback.

Sub-Periods Playback:

This mode plays videos from multiple time periods of the same day simultaneously.

1. Go to Playback and click the Sub-periods tab.

2. Select a camera.

3. Set a start and end time for the period you want to review.

4. Select a window division mode (e.g., 4-Period, 9-Period).

5. Click the play icon. The selected time period will be divided into equal segments, and each segment will play simultaneously in its own window.

You can create and export video clips to a backup device like a USB flash drive.

Before You Start:

Connect a supported backup device to the USB port of your HIKVISION DS-7116HGHI-F1.

Clip and Export during Playback:

1. Start playback for the desired camera and time.

2. Click the Clip icon on the playback control bar.

3. A timeline will appear. Click the Set Start/End Time icon to define the start and end points of your clip, then click OK. Alternatively, you can drag the sliders on the time bar to select the segment.

4. Click the Export icon.

5. The system will export the selected clip to your backup device.

Search and Export Files:

1. Go to Search from the main menu.

2. Set your search conditions (camera, time, file type, etc.) and click Search.

3. A list of video files will appear. Select the file(s) you want to back up.

4. Click Export to export the file(s) to your backup device.

Quick Backup:

1. Go to Search.

2. Set search conditions.

3. Click Quick Export.

4. Select the backup device and path.

5. Click OK to start exporting.

Easy Mode provides access to basic configurations for your HIKVISION DS-7116HGHI-F1. To access it, go to Configuration and click Easy Mode.

Configure General Settings:

1. Go to Configuration → System → General.

2. Configure the following parameters as needed:

– System Date/Time: Set the correct date and time.

– Resolution: Set the output resolution for your monitor (e.g., 1024*768/60HZ).

– Enable Wizard: Check to have the startup wizard appear after the device starts.

– Enable Password: Check to require a password for authentication if the device automatically logs out.

– Enable NTP: Enable Network Time Protocol to synchronize time with an internet server. You can set the NTP Server, Port, and update interval.

3. Click Apply to save changes.

Add a New User:

The default user is `admin`, who has full permissions. You can add guest users with limited permissions.

1. Go to Configuration → User.

2. Click Add and confirm your admin password.

3. In the Add User window, enter a User Name.

4. Enter a password in the Password and Confirm fields.

5. Select a User Level (e.g., Guest). A guest user typically only has permissions for live view, playback, and log search.

6. Click OK.

Proper network configuration is required to operate the device over a network.

Configure General Network Settings (TCP/IP):

1. Go to Configuration → Network → General.

2. To obtain an IP address automatically, check Enable DHCP if a DHCP server is available on your network.

3. To set a static IP, uncheck DHCP and manually enter the IPv4 Address, IPv4 Subnet Mask, and IPv4 Default Gateway.

4. Configure DNS settings, either automatically by checking Obtain DNS Automatically (if using DHCP) or by manually entering the Preferred DNS Server and Alternate DNS Server.

5. Click Apply.

Configure Guarding Vision for Remote Access:

Guarding Vision allows you to access your device remotely via a mobile app.

1. Go to Configuration → Network → Platform Access.

2. Set Access Type to Guarding Vision.

3. Check Enable. Read and agree to the service terms and privacy statement.

4. Optional: Check Stream Encryption to require a verification code for remote access. This enhances security.

5. A Verification Code will be generated. You can use this code or create your own.

6. Click Apply.

After setup, you can use the Guarding Vision mobile app and scan the QR code displayed on this screen to add the HIKVISION DS-7116HGHI-F1 to your account.

You can configure the device to send an email notification when an alarm or other event occurs.

Before You Start:

• Ensure your HIKVISION DS-7116HGHI-F1 is connected to a network with an SMTP mail server.

• Configure the device’s general network settings (IP, Gateway, DNS).

Steps:

1. Go to Configuration → Network → Email.

2. Enter the parameters for your email account:

– Server Authentication: (Optional) Check this to enable authentication and enter the User Name and Password for the sender’s email account.

– SMTP Server: Enter the address of your outgoing mail server (e.g., smtp.yourprovider.com).

– SMTP Port: Enter the server port (e.g., 25, 465, 587).

– SSL/TLS: (Optional) Check this if your SMTP server requires an encrypted connection.

– Sender: Enter the sender’s name.

– Sender’s Address: Enter the sender’s email address.

– Select Receiver: Choose a receiver number (1, 2, or 3).

– Receiver: Enter the recipient’s name.

– Receiver’s Address: Enter the recipient’s email address.

3. Click Apply to save the settings.

After configuring, you can enable “Send Email” as a linkage action for various events.

You can add IP cameras to your HIKVISION DS-7116HGHI-F1 through the IP Camera management interface.

Activate a New Network Camera:

New or inactive cameras must be activated with a password before they can be added.

1. Go to Configuration → Camera → IP Camera.

2. The device will search for online cameras on the same network segment. Inactive cameras will be listed.

3. Select an inactive camera and click Activate.

4. Set a strong password for the camera. You can either use a new password or check Use Channel Default Password to use a pre-set password.

5. Click OK.

Add a Network Camera Manually:

1. Go to Configuration → Camera → IP Camera.

2. Click the + (Add) button.

3. Enter the camera’s IP Address, Protocol, Management Port, User Name, and Password.

4. Optional: Click Add More to add another camera.

5. Click OK.

Edit a Connected Network Camera:

1. Go to Configuration → Camera → IP Camera.

2. In the list of added cameras, find the one you want to edit and click the Edit icon.

3. Modify the parameters as needed and click OK.

You can configure various smart events to trigger alarms and recordings.

Motion Detection:

1. Go to Configuration → Camera → Smart Event → Motion Detection.

2. Select a camera.

3. Check Enable.

4. Under the Area Settings tab, define the motion detection area. You can click Full Screen or drag on the preview window to draw a customized area.

5. Adjust the Sensitivity. A higher value makes the detection more sensitive to movement.

6. Go to the Arming Schedule tab to set the time periods when detection should be active.

7. Go to the Linkage Action tab to select what happens when motion is detected (e.g., Audible Warning, Send Email, Trigger Recording).

8. Click Apply.

Intrusion Detection:

Detects objects entering and loitering in a pre-defined virtual region.

1. Go to Configuration → Camera → Smart Event → Intrusion.

2. Select a camera and check Enable Intrusion Detection.

3. Click Draw Area and click four points on the preview window to define a quadrilateral detection region.

4. Set the Sensitivity.

5. Configure the Arming Schedule and Linkage Actions as needed.

6. Click Apply.

Line Crossing Detection:

Detects objects crossing a pre-defined virtual line.

1. Go to Configuration → Camera → Smart Event → Line Crossing.

2. Select a camera and check Enable.

3. Click Draw Area and click two points on the preview window to draw a virtual line.

4. Select the Direction for detection: A<->B (both ways), A->B (one way), or B->A (other way).

5. Set the Sensitivity.

6. Configure the Arming Schedule and Linkage Actions.

7. Click Apply.

You can set up your device to record continuously or only when specific events occur.

Configure the Recording Schedule:

1. Go to Configuration → Record → Schedule.

2. Select a camera from the Camera No. dropdown.

3. Check Enable to activate the schedule for this camera.

4. Configure the schedule using one of two methods:

– Using the Edit Button: Click Edit. Select a day (or all days), check All Day for 24-hour recording, and choose a schedule type (Continuous or Event). For specific times, uncheck All Day and set up to 8 different time periods. Click OK.

– Drawing on the Grid: Select a recording type (Continuous or Event) from the legend. Click and drag the mouse across the time grid for each day to set the schedule.

5. Click Apply to save the schedule.

Configure Recording Parameters (Stream Settings):

These settings determine the quality and size of your recorded video files.

1. Go to Configuration → Record → Parameter.

2. Select a camera.

3. Configure the Main Stream (for recording) and Sub-Stream (for remote viewing) parameters:

– Resolution: The video resolution (e.g., 1080p, 720p).

– Frame Rate: The number of frames per second (fps). Higher fps results in smoother video.

– Bitrate: The amount of data used to encode the video. Higher bitrate results in better quality but larger file sizes.

4. Click Apply.

A new hard disk drive (HDD) must be initialized before it can be used for recording.

Initialize an HDD:

1. Go to Configuration → Record → Storage.

2. A list of installed HDDs will be displayed. Select the new HDD you want to initialize.

3. Click the Init button.

4. A confirmation prompt will appear, warning that all data on the disk will be erased. Click OK to proceed.

5. The device will format the HDD. Once the status changes to “Normal”, it is ready to use.

Add a Network Disk (NAS/IP SAN):

You can add a network storage location to be used as a network HDD.

1. Go to Configuration → Record → Storage.

2. Click Add.

3. Select NetHDD.

4. Set the Type as NAS or IPSAN.

5. Enter the NetHDD IP address.

6. Click Search to find available disks or manually enter the directory in NetHDD Directory.

7. Select the NAS disk from the list.

8. Click OK.

Maintenance functions allow you to manage your device’s settings and firmware.

Restore Default Settings:

1. Go to Maintenance.

2. Select the restoring type:

– Simple Restore: Restores all parameters except network and user accounts to factory defaults.

– Factory Defaults: Restores all parameters to factory defaults.

– Restore to Inactive: Restores the device to an inactive state, requiring activation again.

3. Click Yes to confirm. The device will reboot.

Search Logs:

1. Go to Maintenance → More.

2. Set the search conditions (e.g., time, log type).

3. Click Search to view the logs.

Local Firmware Upgrade:

1. Store the upgrade firmware file on a USB backup device and connect it to the recorder.

2. Go to Maintenance.

3. In the Firmware section, select the USB device from Device Name.

4. Select the upgrade firmware file from the list.

5. Click Upgrade. The device will reboot automatically after the upgrade.

Online Firmware Upgrade:

1. Ensure Guarding Vision is enabled and the device has an internet connection.

2. Go to Maintenance and go to Online Upgrade.

3. The device will automatically check for the latest firmware. You can also click Test Upgrade to check manually.

4. If a new firmware version is available, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install it.

The Alarm Center allows you to view details of triggered events and configure which events generate a pop-up hint.

Set Event Hints:

This configures which events will trigger a notification icon to appear in the upper-right corner of the local monitor.

1. Click the Alarm Center icon in the upper-right corner of the local menu.

2. Select a tab: Exception, Basic Event, or Smart Event.

3. Click the Settings icon.

4. Select the specific events you want to receive hints for.

5. Click OK.

View Alarms in Alarm Center:

1. Click the Alarm Center icon in the upper-right corner of the local menu.

2. Select the Exception, Basic Event, or Smart Event tab to view a list of triggered alarms for that category.

3. You can see information such as the time, alarm type, and associated camera.

You can access your video recorder’s interface using a web browser for remote management.

Supported Browsers: Internet Explorer 6.0 to 11.0, Apple Safari, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome.

Steps:

1. Open a web browser on a computer connected to the same network as your HIKVISION DS-7116HGHI-F1.

2. In the address bar, type the IP address of the video recorder and press Enter.

– Note: If you have changed the HTTP port from the default of 80, you must include it in the address. For example: `http://192.168.1.64:81`.

3. On the login page, enter your user name and password.

4. Click Login.

5. For the first-time login, you may be prompted to install a browser plug-in to view video streams. Follow the installation prompts.

After logging in, you can access Live View, Playback, and Configuration interfaces similar to the local monitor GUI.
