For first-time access, you need to activate your HIKVISION DS-7116HGHI-F1-N by setting an admin password. No operation is allowed before activation.

Before you start, ensure the device is powered on.

Steps:

1. Select a language.

2. Click Next.

3. Input the same password in the Password and Confirm Password fields. It is highly recommended to create a strong password of your own choosing (using a minimum of 8 characters, including at least three of the following categories: upper case letters, lower case letters, numbers, and special characters) to increase the security of your product.

4. Activate network camera(s) connected to the device.

– Check ‘Use Device Password as Default’ to use the device password to activate inactive network cameras.

– Or, enter a password to activate network camera(s).

5. Optional: Set an email address for password resetting. If you forget your password, you can reset it by email.

1) Check ‘Enable’.

2) Enter an email address.

6. Click Activate.

The admin user can use an unlock pattern to log in. You can configure this after the device is activated.

Set Unlock Pattern:

1. Use the mouse to draw a pattern among the 9 dots on the screen. Release the mouse when the pattern is done. The pattern must have at least 4 dots, and each dot can be connected only once.

2. Draw the same pattern again to confirm it. When the two patterns match, the pattern is configured successfully.

Log in via Unlock Pattern:

1. Right-click the mouse on the live view interface.

2. Draw the pre-defined pattern to unlock and enter the menu operation.

Note: If you have forgotten your pattern, click ‘Forgot My Pattern’ or ‘Switch User’ to log in via password. If you draw the wrong pattern more than 5 times, the system will switch to the normal password login mode automatically.

If your video recorder has logged out, you must log in before operating the menu and other functions.

Steps:

1. Select User Name (e.g., admin).

2. Input your password.

3. Click Login.

Note: If you forget the admin password, you can click ‘Forgot Password’ to reset it. If you enter the wrong password 7 times, the current user account will be locked for 60 seconds.

The Live View interface allows you to monitor your cameras in real-time. Here are the basic operations:

– Click the auto-switch icon to start/stop automatically switching between cameras.

– Click the all-day recording icon to start/stop recording for all channels.

– Right-click a camera or click the full-screen icon to enter full-screen mode.

– Double-click a camera to view it in single-screen mode. Double-click again to exit.

– Change a camera’s live view screen by dragging it to the desired screen.

– Scroll up/down to turn to the previous/next screen.

– Position the cursor on a camera to show the shortcut menu.

Live View Icon Description:

In the live view interface, icons at the upper-right corner of each camera show the camera’s status.

You can control Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) cameras connected to your HIKVISION DS-7116HGHI-F1-N.

1. Configure PTZ Parameters:

Before controlling a PTZ camera, you must configure its parameters.

1. Preview a camera in live view and click the PTZ control icon on the shortcut menu.

2. Click ‘PTZ Parameter Settings’.

3. Set the PTZ camera parameters. All parameters should be the same as the PTZ camera. For Coaxitron cameras, select the PTZ protocol to UTC (Coaxitron). The AHD and HDCVI cameras support coaxitron control.

4. Click OK.

2. Customize Presets:

A preset is a pre-defined camera position.

1. In the PTZ control panel, select a desired preset number from the list.

2. Use the direction buttons to move the camera to the required location. Adjust zoom and focus as desired.

3. Click the ‘Set’ icon to save the preset.

To call a preset, double-click it in the list.

3. Customize Patrols:

A patrol is a path consisting of a series of presets.

1. In the PTZ control panel, click the ‘Patrol’ tab.

2. Select a desired patrol and click ‘Set’.

3. Click ‘+’ to add key points. The key point corresponds to a preset.

4. Configure the key point parameters: Preset number, Duration (time to stay at the point), and Speed (movement speed to the next point).

5. Click Apply.

To start a patrol, select it and click ‘Call’.

4. Customize Patterns:

A pattern records a movement path and dwell time.

1. In the PTZ control panel, click the ‘Pattern’ tab.

2. Select a pattern and click ‘Record’.

3. Use the direction buttons, zoom, and focus to move the camera as desired. The path will be recorded.

4. Click ‘Stop Recording’ to save the pattern.

To start a pattern, select it and click ‘Call’.

You can play back videos using normal playback, smart playback, or sub-periods playback.

Normal Playback:

1. Go to Playback.

2. Select a camera from the camera list.

3. Select a date on the calendar for playback. A blue triangle at the corner of a date indicates available videos.

4. Use the timeline and playback controls to view the video. The blue bar on the timeline indicates normal video, and the red bar indicates event video.

Smart Playback:

This mode analyzes video for motion, line crossing, or intrusion events to skip less effective information.

1. Go to Playback and click ‘Smart’.

2. Select a camera.

3. Position the cursor on the playback window to show the control bar. Use the icons to draw detection areas for motion, line crossing, or intrusion.

4. Click the play strategy icon to configure playback behavior (e.g., skip normal videos).

Sub-Periods Playback:

This mode plays videos from multiple sub-periods simultaneously.

1. Go to Playback and click ‘Sub-periods’.

2. Select a camera.

3. Set a start and end time.

4. Optional: Select a window division mode (4-Period, 9-Period, or 16-Period).

5. Click the Search icon. The videos will be divided into equal segments and played simultaneously in the selected window layout.

You can clip videos during playback and export them to a backup device like a USB flash drive.

Before you start, connect a backup device to your video recorder.

Steps:

1. Start playback of the desired video.

2. Click the ‘Clip’ icon on the playback control bar.

3. Set the start and end times for the clip. You can do this by:

– Clicking the ‘Start Clipping’ icon, setting the start and end time, and clicking OK.

– Or, by dragging the sliders on the time bar to define the segment.

4. Click the ‘Export’ icon.

5. The clip will be exported to your connected backup device.

File Search:

1. Go to Search.

2. Set your search conditions (e.g., date, time, camera).

3. Click Search. A list of files will be displayed.

4. From the list, you can:

– Click the play icon to play the video.

– Click the lock icon to lock the file. Locked files will not be overwritten.

– Select file(s) and click Export to export the file(s) to a backup device.

Quick Backup:

Before you start, connect a backup device to your video recorder.

1. Go to Search.

2. Set your search conditions.

3. Click Quick Export.

4. Select a backup device and path.

5. Click OK to start exporting.

In Easy Mode, you can configure basic settings like output resolution, system time, and more.

1. Go to Configuration → System → General.

2. Configure the parameters as desired:

– System Date/Time: Set the current date and time.

– Resolution: Set the video output resolution (e.g., 1024*768/60HZ).

– Enable Wizard: Check this to have the setup wizard pop up after the device starts.

– Enable Password: Check this to require a password for authentication if the device automatically logs out.

– Enable NTP: Network Time Protocol (NTP) allows the device to sync its time with a server. Check to enable.

– Interval (min): Set the time interval between time synchronizations with the NTP server.

– NTP Server: Enter the IP address of the NTP server.

– NTP Port: Enter the port of the NTP server.

3. Click Apply to save the settings.

The default administrator user is ‘admin’. The administrator can add, delete, and edit other users.

Add a User:

1. Go to Configuration → User.

2. Click Add and confirm your admin password.

3. Enter a User Name.

4. Enter the same password in the Password and Confirm fields. It is highly recommended to use a strong password.

5. Select a User Level. A Guest user only has live view, playback, and log search permissions.

6. Click OK.

To edit an existing user, click the edit icon next to their name in the user list.

You must properly configure network settings before operating the device over a network.

1. Go to Configuration → Network → General.

2. Set the network parameters:

– DHCP: If a DHCP server is available, you can check ‘Enable DHCP’ to automatically obtain an IP address and other network settings.

– IPv4 Address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway: If not using DHCP, manually enter the IP configuration for your network.

– Obtain DNS Automatically: If DHCP is checked, you can check this to automatically obtain DNS server addresses.

– Preferred DNS Server, Alternate DNS Server: If not obtaining DNS automatically, manually enter the DNS server addresses.

3. Click Apply.

You can set up an email account to receive notifications when events occur.

Before you start, ensure your video recorder is on a local network with an SMTP mail server and that you have configured its network parameters.

Steps:

1. Go to Configuration → Network → Email.

2. Set the email parameters:

– Server Authentication: (Optional) Check to enable server authentication and enter the User Name and Password for the sender’s email account.

– SSL/TLS: (Optional) Check to enable SSL/TLS if required by the SMTP server.

– SMTP Server and Port: Enter the address and port of your SMTP mail server.

– Sender: Enter the sender’s name.

– Sender’s Address: Enter the sender’s email address.

– Select Receiver: Select a receiver (up to 3 are available).

– Receiver: Enter the recipient’s name.

– Receiver’s Address: Enter the recipient’s email address.

3. Click Apply.

You can add network (IP) cameras to your recorder.

Activate Network Camera:

Only activated network cameras can be added.

1. Go to Configuration → Camera → IP Camera. The ‘Security’ column shows if a camera is active.

2. Click ‘Inactive’ for a desired camera.

3. Set a password for the camera. You can either check ‘Use Channel Default Password’ or enter a custom password.

4. Click OK.

Add Network Camera Manually:

1. Go to Configuration → Camera → IP Camera.

2. Click ‘+’.

3. Set the network camera parameters, including IP address, protocol, management port, etc.

4. Optional: Click ‘Add More’ to add another network camera.

5. Click OK.

Add Network Camera by Device Password:

This method works for cameras that have the same password as your video recorder.

1. Go to Configuration → Camera → IP Camera. Online cameras on the same network segment are displayed.

2. Click the ‘+’ icon next to the camera you wish to add.

Motion detection enables the video recorder to detect moving objects and trigger alarms.

1. Go to Configuration → Camera → Smart Event → Motion Detection.

2. Select a camera.

3. Check ‘Enable’.

4. Set the motion detection area. You can click ‘Full Screen’ to select the entire view or drag on the preview window to draw custom areas. Click ‘Clear’ to remove areas.

5. Adjust ‘Sensitivity’. A higher value makes the alarm trigger more readily to movement.

6. Go to the ‘Arming Schedule’ tab to set the times when motion detection should be active.

7. Go to the ‘Linkage Action’ tab to set what happens when motion is detected (e.g., send email, trigger recording).

8. Click Apply.

Intrusion Detection:

This feature detects people, vehicles, or objects that enter and loiter in a pre-defined virtual region.

1. Go to Configuration → Camera → Smart Event → Intrusion.

2. Select a camera.

3. Check ‘Enable Intrusion Detection’.

4. Set detection rules and areas:

– Select an ‘Arming Area’ (up to 4 are available).

– Set ‘Sensitivity’. The higher the value, the easier the alarm is triggered. Range is [1-100].

– Click ‘Draw Area’ to draw a quadrilateral detection region.

5. Configure the Arming Schedule and Linkage Actions.

6. Click Apply.

Line Crossing Detection:

This feature detects objects crossing a set virtual line.

1. Go to Configuration → Camera → Smart Event → Line Crossing.

2. Select a camera.

3. Set detection rules and areas:

– Select an ‘Arming Area’ (up to 4 are available).

– Select ‘Direction’ as A<->B (bidirectional), A->B (one direction), or B->A (opposite direction).

– Set ‘Sensitivity’.

– Click ‘Draw Area’ and set two points in the preview window to draw the virtual line.

4. Configure the Arming Schedule and Linkage Actions.

5. Click Apply.

The video recorder will automatically start/stop recording according to the schedule you configure.

1. Go to Configuration → Record → Schedule.

2. Select a camera from the ‘Camera No.’ drop-down list.

3. Check ‘Enable’.

4. Configure the schedule:

– Method 1 (Edit Menu):

a. Click ‘Edit’.

b. Select a day of the week.

c. To set an all-day schedule, check ‘All Day’ and select a schedule type (e.g., Continuous, Event).

d. To set specific time periods, uncheck ‘All Day’ and set the Start/End Time and schedule type for up to 8 different periods.

e. Click OK.

– Method 2 (Draw on Table):

a. Click to select a schedule type (Continuous or Event).

b. On the timeline grid, drag the mouse across the desired time periods to draw a colored bar representing that schedule type.

5. Click Apply to save the schedule.

You can restore your device’s parameters to the factory default settings.

1. Go to Maintenance.

2. Select the restoring type:

– Simple Restore: Restores all parameters to factory default, EXCEPT for network parameters (IP address, subnet mask, gateway, etc.) and user accounts.

– Factory Defaults: Restores ALL parameters to the factory default settings.

– Restore to Inactive: Restores the device to an inactive status, leaving all settings unchanged except for user accounts.

3. Click ‘Yes’. The device will reboot automatically with the restored settings.

You can upgrade your device’s firmware locally from a backup device or online.

Warning: Do not shut down or turn off the power during the upgrade process.

Local Upgrade:

1. Store the upgrade firmware file on a backup device (e.g., USB drive) and connect it to your recorder.

2. Go to Maintenance.

3. Click the folder icon near ‘Firmware’.

4. Select your backup device from the ‘Device Name’ list.

5. Select the upgrade firmware file.

6. Click ‘Upgrade’. Your device will reboot automatically after the upgrade is complete.

Online Upgrade:

1. Ensure Guarding Vision is enabled and configured.

2. Go to Maintenance.

3. Click the ‘+’ icon.

4. Go to ‘Online Upgrade’.

5. The device will check for the latest firmware. You can use:

– Auto Download: The device will automatically check and download the latest firmware.

– Test Upgrade: Click to manually check and download the latest firmware.

6. Upgrade your device if a new firmware version is available. The device will reboot automatically.

You can access the video recorder via a web browser such as Internet Explorer, Apple Safari, Mozilla Firefox, or Google Chrome.

Login:

1. Open a web browser, type the IP address of the video recorder in the address bar, and press Enter. If you have changed the HTTP port, you need to add it to the address (e.g., http://192.168.1.64:81).

2. Enter your user name and password in the login interface.

3. Click Login.

4. You may be prompted to install a plug-in. Follow the installation prompts. You may need to close the web browser to complete the installation.

Interface Overview:

– Live View: After logging in, the live view interface is shown, allowing you to see camera feeds and access PTZ controls.

– Playback: Click the ‘Playback’ tab to enter the playback interface. Here you can select a camera, date, and time to review recorded footage.

– Configuration: Click the ‘Configuration’ tab to access all device settings, similar to the local menu. You can configure system, network, event, storage, and other settings.

– Log: To view the system log, go to Maintenance → System → Maintenance → Log. Set your search conditions and click Search.
