Before connecting and operating your HIKVISION DS-7204HGHI-K1, please be advised of the following tips:

The device is designed for indoor use only. Install it in a well-ventilated, dust-free environment without liquids.

The USB port of the equipment is used for connecting to a mouse, keyboard, USB flash drive, or Wi-Fi dongle only.

Do not touch the sharp edges or corners.

For first-time access to your HIKVISION DS-7204HGHI-K1, you need to activate it by setting an admin password. No operation is allowed before activation. You can also activate the video recorder via a web browser, SADP, or client software.

Before You Start:

Power on your device.

Steps:

1. Select a language.

2. Click Next.

3. Input the same password in the Password and Confirm Password fields. It is highly recommended to create a strong password of your own choosing (using a minimum of 8 characters, including at least three of the following categories: upper case letters, lower case letters, numbers, and special characters) to increase the security of your product. Resetting your password monthly or weekly can better protect your product.

4. Activate network camera(s) connected to the device. You can either check Use Device Password as Default to use the device password to activate the inactive network camera(s), or enter a different password to activate them.

5. Optional: Set an email address for password resetting. If you forget your password, you can reset it by email. To do this, check Enable and enter an email address.

6. Click Activate.

The admin user can use an unlock pattern to log in to the HIKVISION DS-7204HGHI-K1. You can configure the unlock pattern after the device is activated.

Steps:

1. Use the mouse to draw a pattern among the 9 dots on the screen. Release the mouse when the pattern is done.

The pattern must have at least 4 dots.

Each dot can be connected only once.

2. Draw the same pattern again to confirm it. When the two patterns match, the pattern is configured successfully.

Steps:

1. Right-click the mouse on the live view interface.

2. Draw the pre-defined pattern to unlock and enter the menu operation.

Note:

If you have forgotten your pattern, click Forgot My Pattern or Switch User to log in via password.

If you draw the wrong pattern more than 5 times, the system will switch to the normal login mode automatically.

If your HIKVISION DS-7204HGHI-K1 has logged out, you must log in before operating the menu and other functions.

Steps:

1. Select a User Name from the dropdown menu.

2. Input the corresponding password.

3. Click Login.

If you forget the password of the admin, you can click Forgot Password to reset it.

Selecting the Coaxitron protocol will make other parameters unavailable, including baud rate, data bit, stop bit, parity, and flow control.

4. Click OK.

The PTZ control panel on your HIKVISION DS-7204HGHI-K1 provides the following functions:

Select a patrol and click Call. The PTZ camera will move according to the predefined patrol path.

A pattern on your HIKVISION DS-7204HGHI-K1 records the movement path and dwell time in a certain position. When you call a pattern, the PTZ camera will move according to the recorded path.

Steps to Record a Pattern:

1. Preview a camera in live view and click the PTZ icon on the shortcut menu.

2. Click Pattern.

3. Select a pattern number.

4. Click Record.

5. Use the direction buttons to move the camera to the required locations. Adjust zoom and focus as desired. The system will record all your movements.

6. Click Stop Recording. The PTZ camera’s moving path is recorded as a pattern.

The playback interface on your HIKVISION DS-7204HGHI-K1 has several controls for managing video playback:

To play back normal recorded videos on your HIKVISION DS-7204HGHI-K1, follow these steps:

1. Go to Playback.

2. Select a camera from the camera list.

3. Select a date on the calendar for playback. A blue triangle at the corner of a date indicates available videos.

The Sub-Periods Playback feature on your HIKVISION DS-7204HGHI-K1 allows you to play videos from multiple sub-periods simultaneously.

Steps:

1. Go to Playback.

2. Click Sub-periods.

3. Select a camera.

4. Set a start and end time for the total period you want to review.

5. Optional: Select a window division mode as 4-Period, 9-Period, or 16-Period. This will divide the total time period into 4, 9, or 16 equal segments.

6. Click the search icon. The videos from the divided segments will be played simultaneously in their respective screens. For example, if the time period is 00:00:00 to 4:00:00 and the window division is 4-Period, the four screens will play videos from 00:00:00-01:00:00, 01:00:01-02:00:00, 02:00:01-03:00:00, and 03:00:01-04:00:00 respectively.

You can clip and export video segments to a backup device (such as a USB flash drive or USB HDD) from your HIKVISION DS-7204HGHI-K1 during playback.

Before You Start:

Connect a backup device to your video recorder.

Steps:

1. Start playback for the desired camera and time. Refer to the “Normal Playback” procedure for details.

2. Click the ‘scissors’ icon to start clipping.

3. Clip the video segment. You can either click the ‘scissors’ icon again to set the end point, or drag the markers on the time bar to define the start and end times for the clip.

4. Click the ‘save’ or ‘export’ icon that appears after defining the clip.

5. Click Export to save the clip to your connected backup device.

1. Go to Search.

From the results list, you can click the play icon to play the video.

The default user is “admin” with full permissions. Guest users only have live view, playback, and log search permissions. To add a new user to your HIKVISION DS-7204HGHI-K1:

2. Click Add and confirm your admin password.

3. In the Add User window, enter a User Name.

4. Enter the same password in the Password and Confirm fields. It is highly recommended to create a strong password (minimum 8 characters with upper case, lower case, numbers, and special characters).

To Set a Password Resetting Email:

When you forget your login pattern and password, the device can send an email containing a verification code to your email for password resetting.

1. Go to Configuration → User.

2. Click Password Resetting Email.

3. Enter the admin password for authorization.

4. Enter an email address.

5. Click OK.

To Reset Your Password via Email:

1. Click Forgot Password at the password login interface.

2. Follow the on-screen wizard to reset your password using the verification code sent to your configured email address.

Properly configure the network settings on your HIKVISION DS-7204HGHI-K1 before operating the device over a network.

Steps:

1. Go to Configuration → Network → General.

2. Set the network parameters:

DHCP: If a DHCP server is available, you can check Enable DHCP to automatically obtain an IP address and other network settings from that server.

IPv4 Address: If not using DHCP, manually enter the IP address.

Guarding Vision provides a mobile phone application and platform service to access and manage your HIKVISION DS-7204HGHI-K1 remotely.

Steps:

1. Go to Configuration → Network → Platform Access.

2. Select Access Type as Guarding Vision.

3. Check Enable. The service terms will pop up.

1) Scan the QR code to read the service terms and privacy statement.

2) Check I have read and agree to Service Terms and Privacy Statement if you agree.

3) Click OK.

4. Optional: Check Stream Encryption. This requires entering a verification code for remote access and live view.

5. Optional: Check Custom and edit the Server Address if needed.

6. Enter a code in Verification Code. You can click Refresh to randomly generate one.

7. Click Apply.

What to do next:

You can then access your video recorder via the Guarding Vision app. Scan the first QR code on the screen to download the app. Then, open the app and scan the second QR code to add your video recorder.

A newly installed Hard Disk Drive (HDD) on your HIKVISION DS-7204HGHI-K1 must be initialized before it can be used to save videos and information.

Before You Start:

Install at least one HDD into your video recorder.

Steps:

1. Go to Configuration → Record → Storage.

2. Select the HDD you want to initialize from the list.

3. Click Init.

The HDD will be formatted and prepared for recording.

You can configure your HIKVISION DS-7204HGHI-K1 to automatically start and stop recording according to a set schedule.

Steps:

1. Go to Configuration → Record → Schedule.

2. Select a camera from the Camera No. dropdown.

3. Check Enable.

4. Configure the recording schedule:

Using the schedule grid: Click on a color key (e.g., Continuous, Event) and then drag the mouse across the timeline for each day to set the schedule type for that period.

Using the Edit button:

a. Click Edit.

b. Select a day to configure in Weekday.

c. To set an all-day recording schedule, check All Day and select the schedule type.

d. To set specific time periods, uncheck All Day, and set the Start/End Time and schedule type for up to 8 different periods. Time periods cannot be overlapped.

e. Click OK to save the settings.

5. Click Apply.

You can restore your HIKVISION DS-7204HGHI-K1 to its factory settings through the Maintenance menu.

Steps:

1. Go to Maintenance.

2. Select the restoring type:

Simple Restore: Restores all parameters, except the network (IP address, subnet mask, gateway, etc.) and user account parameters, to the factory default settings.

Factory Defaults: Restores all parameters to the factory default settings.

Restore to Inactive: Restores the device to an inactive status, leaving all settings unchanged except for restoring user accounts.

3. Click Yes. The device will reboot automatically.

To upgrade the firmware of your HIKVISION DS-7204HGHI-K1 using a local file:

Before You Start:

Store the upgrade firmware file on a backup device (like a USB flash drive) and connect it to your device.

Auto Download: The device will automatically check for and download the latest firmware.

Test Upgrade: Click Test Upgrade to manually check for and download the latest firmware.

5. If a new firmware version is available, the device will prompt you to upgrade. The device will reboot automatically after the upgrade.

You can access your HIKVISION DS-7204HGHI-K1 using a web browser such as Internet Explorer, Apple Safari, Mozilla Firefox, or Google Chrome. The supported resolution is 1024×768 and above.

Steps:

1. Open a web browser, input the IP address of the video recorder, and then press Enter.

If you have changed the HTTP port from the default (80), you must include it in the address. For example: http://192.168.1.64:81.

2. Enter your user name and password in the login interface.

3. Click Login.
