For first-time access, you must activate the HIKVISION DS-7108HGHI-K1 video recorder by setting an admin password. No operation is allowed before activation.

Before you start, ensure the device is powered on.

Steps:

1. Select a language.

2. Click Next.

3. Input the same password in the Password and Confirm Password fields. It is highly recommended to create a strong password of your own choosing (using a minimum of 8 characters, including at least three of the following categories: upper case letters, lower case letters, numbers, and special characters) to increase the security of your product. It is also recommended to reset your password regularly.

4. Activate network camera(s) connected to the device.

– Check “Use Device Password as Default” to use the device password to activate the inactive network camera(s).

– Or, enter a password to activate the network camera(s).

5. Optional: Set an email address for password resetting. If you forget your password, you can reset it by email.

1) Check Enable.

2) Enter an email address.

6. Click Activate.

The admin user can use an unlock pattern to log in. You can configure this after the device is activated.

Set Unlock Pattern:

1. Use the mouse to draw a pattern among the 9 dots on the screen. Release the mouse when the pattern is done.

– The pattern must have at least 4 dots.

– Each dot can be connected only once.

2. Draw the same pattern again to confirm it. When the two patterns match, the pattern is configured successfully.

Log in via Unlock Pattern:

1. Right-click the mouse on the live view interface.

2. Draw the pre-defined pattern to unlock and enter the menu operation.

If you have forgotten your pattern, click “Forgot My Pattern” or “Switch User” to log in via password. If you draw the wrong pattern more than 5 times, the system will switch to the normal password login mode automatically.

If your HIKVISION DS-7108HGHI-K1 has logged out, you must log in before operating the menu and other functions.

Steps:

1. Select a User Name from the dropdown list.

2. Input the password for that user.

3. Click Login.

Note: If you forget the admin password, you can click “Forgot Password” to reset it. If you enter the wrong password 7 times, the user account will be locked for 60 seconds.

The Live View screen provides several functions for viewing and managing your cameras:

– Click the auto-switch icon to start/stop auto-switch. The screen will automatically switch to the next one.

– Click the icon to start/stop all-day recording.

– Right-click a camera, or click the exit icon to enter full-screen mode.

– Double-click a camera to view it in single-screen mode. Double-click again to exit single-screen mode.

– Change a camera’s live view screen by dragging it from its screen to the desired screen.

– Scroll up/down to turn to the previous/next screen.

– Position the cursor on a camera to show the shortcut menu.

Live View Icon Description

In the live view interface, there are icons at the upper-right corner of the screen for each camera, showing the camera recording and alarm status.

You must configure PTZ parameters before controlling a PTZ camera.

Configure PTZ Parameters:

1. Preview a camera in live view and click the PTZ control icon on the shortcut menu.

2. Click PTZ Parameter Settings.

3. Set the PTZ camera parameters. All parameters should be the same as the PTZ camera’s settings.

– For a Coaxitron camera/dome, you can select the PTZ protocol to UTC (Coaxitron). This will make other parameters like baud rate and data bit unavailable.

– The AHD and HDCVI cameras support coaxitron control.

4. Click OK.

Customize Presets, Patrols, and Patterns:

– Customize Preset: Set a preset location for the PTZ camera to point to when an event occurs.

1. Preview a camera in live view and click the PTZ icon.

2. Select a desired preset from the preset list.

3. Use the direction buttons to move the camera to the required location. Adjust zoom and focus as desired.

4. Click the Set icon.

To call a preset, double-click it in the preset list.

– Customize Patrol: A patrol is a path consisting of a series of presets.

1. In the PTZ control menu, click Patrol.

2. Select a patrol and click Set.

3. Click + to add key points.

4. Configure key point parameters, such as the key point No. (preset), duration, and speed.

5. Click Apply.

To call a patrol, select it and click Call.

– Customize Pattern: A pattern records the movement path and dwell time in a certain position.

1. In the PTZ control menu, click Pattern.

2. Select a pattern and click Record.

3. Use direction buttons and zoom/focus to move the camera as desired. The path is recorded.

4. Click Stop Recording.

To call a pattern, select it and click Call.

Normal Playback:

1. Go to Playback.

2. Select a camera from the camera list.

3. Select a date on the calendar for playback. A blue triangle at the corner of a date indicates available videos.

4. Optional: Position the cursor on the playback window to show the control bar for adding tags, turning audio on/off, zooming, and locking/unlocking video.

On the timeline, a blue bar indicates continuous video, and a red bar indicates event video. You can drag the timeline or scroll to zoom in/out.

Smart Playback:

This function analyzes video containing motion, line crossing, or intrusion detection information.

1. Configure motion detection, line crossing, or intrusion detection rules first.

2. Go to Playback and click Smart.

3. Select a camera.

4. Position the cursor on the playback window to show the control bar, where you can draw detection areas for motion, line crossing, or intrusion events.

5. Click the “Play Strategy” icon to configure playback options, such as “Do not Play Normal Videos”.

Sub-Periods Playback:

This allows you to play videos from multiple sub-periods simultaneously.

1. Go to Playback and click Sub-periods.

2. Select a camera.

3. Set a start and end time.

4. Select a window division mode (4-Period, 9-Period, or 16-Period).

5. Click the search icon. The videos will be divided into equal segments and played simultaneously in the selected number of screens.

You can clip videos during playback and export them to a backup device like a USB flash drive or USB HDD.

Before you start, connect a backup device to your video recorder.

Steps:

1. Start playback of the desired video.

2. Click the clip icon.

3. Clip the video in one of two ways:

– Click the start time icon, then set the start and end time, and click OK.

– Set a time segment directly on the time bar for clipping.

4. Click the export icon.

5. Click Export to export the clip to the connected backup device.

Search and Export File:

1. Go to Search.

2. Set the search conditions (e.g., camera, date, time).

3. Click Search.

– In the results, click the play icon to play the video.

– Click the lock icon to lock the file. Locked files will not be overwritten.

– Select the file(s) you want to export, and click Export to save them to a backup device.

Quick Backup:

Before you start, connect a backup device to your video recorder.

1. Go to Search.

2. Set search conditions.

3. Click Quick Export.

4. Select the backup device and path.

5. Click OK to start exporting.

Easy mode contains basic configurations. Go to Configuration, and click Easy Mode.

General Settings:

1. Go to Configuration → System → General.

2. Configure parameters as desired:

– Enable Wizard: The wizard will pop up after the device starts up.

– Enable Password: You need to enter a password for authentication if the device automatically logs out.

– Enable NTP: Connect to an NTP server to sync time.

– Interval (min): Time interval between two time synchronizations with the NTP server.

– NTP Server: IP address of the NTP server.

– NTP Port: Port of the NTP server.

3. Click Apply.

Add a User:

1. Go to Configuration → User.

2. Click Add and confirm your admin password.

3. Enter a user name.

4. Enter the same password in Password and Confirm.

5. Click OK.

Configure Exception Events:

1. Go to Configuration → System → Exception.

2. Optional: Check “Event Hint” to receive hints in the alarm center when events occur.

3. Set the Exception Type (e.g., HDD Full, Network Disconnected).

4. Select Normal Linkage and Trigger Alarm Output types for linkage actions.

5. Click Apply.

Guarding Vision provides a mobile phone application and platform service to access and manage your connected devices remotely.

Steps:

1. Go to Configuration → Network → Platform Access.

2. Select Access Type as Guarding Vision.

3. Check Enable. The service terms will pop up.

1) Scan the QR code to read the service terms and privacy statement.

2) Check “I have read and agree to Service Terms and Privacy Statement” if you agree.

3) Click OK.

4. Optional: Check Stream Encryption. This requires you to enter a verification code for remote access and live view.

5. Optional: Check Custom, and edit Server Address if needed.

6. Enter a code in Verification Code. You can click Refresh to randomly generate a verification code.

7. Click Apply.

After setup, you can access your video recorder via the Guarding Vision app. Scan the first QR code on the screen to download the app, then open the app and scan the second QR code to add your video recorder.

Before you start, ensure your video recorder is on a local area network with an SMTP mail server and that your network parameters are configured.

Steps:

1. Go to Configuration → Network → Email.

2. Set the email parameters:

– Server Authentication: (Optional) Check to enable server authentication and enter the User Name and Password for the sender’s email account.

– SSL/TLS: (Optional) Check to enable SSL/TLS if required by the SMTP server.

– Sender: The sender’s name.

– Sender’s Address: The sender’s email address.

– Select Receiver: Select a receiver (up to 3 are available).

– Receiver: The receiver’s name.

– Receiver’s Address: The receiver’s email address.

3. Click Apply.

Note: For network cameras, event images are sent directly as email attachments (one picture per camera). For analog cameras, 3 attached pictures will be sent for one analog camera when an event occurs.

Configure Signal Input Type:

1. Go to Configuration → Camera → Analog.

2. Select the signal input type as HD/CVBS (for analog signals like Turbo HD, AHD, HDCVI, CVBS) or IP (for a network camera) for each channel.

3. Click Apply. The maximum number of accessible network cameras is displayed.

Activate and Add a Network Camera:

Only activated network cameras can be added. Ensure the camera is on the same network segment.

1. Go to Configuration → Camera → IP Camera.

2. Click “Inactive” for a camera you want to activate.

3. Set the camera password. You can either check “Use Channel Default Password” or enter a custom password.

4. Click OK.

To add a camera whose password is the same as the recorder’s, simply find it in the list and click the “+” icon to add it.

To add a camera manually:

1. Go to Configuration → Camera → IP Camera and click the “+” icon.

2. Set the network camera parameters, including IP address, protocol, management port, etc.

3. Optional: Click Add More to add another network camera.

4. Click OK.

Motion detection enables the video recorder to detect moving objects in the monitored area and trigger alarms.

Steps:

1. Go to Configuration → Camera → Smart Event → Motion Detection.

2. Select a camera.

3. Check Enable.

4. Set the motion detection area:

– Click Full Screen to set the entire area for detection.

– Drag on the preview window to draw custom motion detection areas.

– Click Clear to clear the current areas.

5. Adjust Sensitivity. A higher value results in more readily triggered motion detection.

6. Set the arming schedule to define when motion detection is active.

7. Set the linkage actions (e.g., trigger recording, send email) to be performed when motion is detected.

8. Click Apply.

A newly installed hard disk drive (HDD) must be initialized before it can be used to save videos and information.

Before you start, ensure at least one HDD is installed in your video recorder.

Steps:

1. Go to Configuration → Record → Storage.

2. Select an HDD from the list.

3. Click Init.

The HDD will be formatted and prepared for recording.

The video recorder will automatically start/stop recording according to the configured schedule.

Steps:

1. Go to Configuration → Record → Schedule.

2. Select a camera in the Camera No. field.

3. Check Enable.

4. Configure the recording schedule:

– To set a schedule for a specific day, click Edit. In the edit window, select a weekday, and set up to 8 time periods for that day with a specific schedule type (Continuous or Event). Time periods cannot be overlapped.

– To set an all-day recording schedule, check All Day and select a schedule type.

– To set by drawing on the schedule grid, click to select a schedule type (Continuous or Event), then drag the mouse on the desired period on the grid to draw a colored bar.

5. Click Apply.

You can restore your device to its factory settings.

Steps:

1. Go to Maintenance.

2. Select the restoring type:

– Simple Restore: Restores all parameters to factory defaults, except for network settings (IP address, subnet mask, etc.) and user accounts.

– Factory Defaults: Restores all parameters to the factory default settings.

– Restore to Inactive: Restores the device to an inactive status, leaving all settings unchanged except for user accounts.

3. Click Yes. The device will reboot automatically.

Do not shut down or turn off the power during an upgrade.

Local Upgrade:

1. Store the upgrade firmware file on a backup device (e.g., USB drive) and connect it to your device.

2. Go to Maintenance.

3. Click the folder icon near Firmware.

4. Select your backup device in Device Name.

5. Select the upgrade firmware file.

6. Click Upgrade. Your device will reboot automatically after the upgrade is complete.

Online Upgrade:

1. Ensure Guarding Vision is enabled and configured.

2. Go to Maintenance.

3. Click the cloud icon.

4. Go to Online Upgrade.

5. Download the latest firmware:

– Auto Download: The device will automatically check and download the latest firmware.

– Test Upgrade: Click to manually check and download the latest firmware.

6. Upgrade your device if a new firmware version is available. The device will reboot automatically.

When events occur, you can view their details in the alarm center.

Set Event Hint:

This selects which events will create a hint in the alarm center.

1. Click the alarm icon in the upper-right corner of the local menu to enter the alarm center.

2. Select Exception, Basic Event, or Smart Event to configure as you desire.

3. Click the settings icon and select the specific events to hint.

4. Click OK. When a selected event occurs, the alarm information icon will be displayed in the upper-right corner of the local menu.

View Alarm in Alarm Center:

1. Click the alarm icon in the upper-right corner of the local menu.

2. Select Exception, Basic Event, or Smart Event to view the details of your desired alarms.

You can access the video recorder via a web browser. Supported browsers include Internet Explorer 6.0 to 11.0, Apple Safari, Mozilla Firefox, and Google Chrome. Supported resolutions include 1024×768 and above.

Steps:

1. Open a web browser and enter the IP address of the video recorder, then press Enter. If you have changed the HTTP port, you must include it in the address (e.g., http://192.168.1.64:81).

2. Enter your user name and password in the login interface.

3. Click Login.

4. You may be prompted to install a plug-in. Follow the installation prompts. You may need to close the web browser to finish the installation.

After logging in, the live view interface will be shown.
