Always follow these basic safety precautions when using the GODOX IT30PRO O:

1. Carefully read and fully understand the instruction manual before use.

2. This product is a professional lighting fixture; children are prohibited from using it. Children must be closely supervised by adults when approaching the fixture.

3. This is not an ordinary lighting fixture and must not be used for general illumination. Anyone with a history of eye damage or sensitivity should avoid using this fixture or looking directly at it.

4. Do not touch high-temperature parts such as flash tubes to avoid burns.

5. Do not point the flash directly at the eyes (especially baby’s eyes) under any circumstances. Turn off immediately if discomfort occurs.

6. If the flash tube is damaged, stop using it immediately and contact a qualified repair personnel for a replacement.

7. Do not use damaged equipment or accessories.

8. Stop using immediately if the product shell is cracked due to falling, squeezing, or strong impact to avoid electric shock.

9. This device is not waterproof. Keep it dry and avoid immersing it in water or other liquids. It should be installed in a ventilated and dry location.

10. Do not disassemble without authorization. If the product malfunctions, it must be inspected and repaired by authorized personnel.

11. Before storing the device, make sure it is completely cooled.

12. Do not place the device near alcohol, gasoline, or other flammable volatile solvents or gases.

13. Do not use or store this device in potentially explosive environments.

14. Do not use accessories not approved by the manufacturer.

Please ensure both the flash and camera are powered off before installing or disassembling.

Installing:

Insert the camera flash into the camera hot shoe base parallelly until it’s firmly locked.

Disassembling:

Press and hold the detach button, then take off the flash from the camera hot shoe base parallelly.

Power on: Press and hold the power button until the icon appears, then slide right on the screen or rotate the select dial anticlockwise to unlock. The device will turn off automatically if it stays locked for 6 seconds after power on.

Power Off: Press and hold the power button until the screen blacks out.

You can check the battery level indication on the LCD panel to see the remaining battery level. The meanings are as follows:

The WN Switch controls the flash coverage:

W Mode: The wide-angle diffuser is turned on in W mode. An icon appears on the display, the flash range is extended, and a more uniform flash is produced at a closer distance.

N Mode: When switching to N mode, a relatively high light intensity can be maintained over a long distance compared to W mode.

Wi-Off mode is for using the flash directly on the camera.

Using the Touch Screen: Slide the screen top-down to enter the menu interface, then click the wi-off/sender/receiver icon and choose the wi-off icon to enter wi-off mode.

Using Buttons and Select Dial: Press the MENU button to enter the menu interface, rotate the select dial to choose the wi-off/sender/receiver icon, then press the SET button to choose the wi-off icon and enter wi-off mode.

In TTL mode, the camera’s metering system detects the flash reflected from the subject and automatically adjusts the flash output so that the subject and background are evenly exposed.

Using the Touch Screen: Slide the screen top-down to enter the menu interface. Click the M/Multi/TTL icon to choose <TTL>. Press the – or + icon to adjust the Flash Exposure Compensation (FEC) amount among ±3 with ±1/3 increment each step, or directly pull the progress bar for quick adjustment.

Using Buttons and Select Dial: Press the MENU button to enter the menu interface. Rotate the select dial to choose the M/Multi/TTL icon, then press the SET button to choose <TTL>. Rotate the select dial to adjust the FEC amount among ±3 with ±1/3 increment each step. Quick adjustment is also available by fast rotation.

Note: When the shutter is fully pressed, the flash will fire a pre-flash that the camera will use to calculate exposure and flash output the instant before the photo is taken.

In Manual (M) mode, the flash output is adjustable from 1/128 to 1/1 with 1/3 increment each step.

Using the Touch Screen: Slide the screen top-down to enter the menu interface. Click the M/Multi/TTL icon to choose <M>. Press the – or + icon to adjust the power with ±1/3 increment each step, or directly pull the progress bar for quick adjustment.

Using Buttons and Select Dial: Press the MENU button to enter the menu interface. Rotate the select dial to choose the M/Multi/TTL icon, then press the SET button to choose <M>. Rotate the select dial to adjust the power with ±1/3 increment each step. Quick adjustment is also available by fast rotation.

S1 and S2 photocell triggering is only available in M manual flash mode. You can switch between S1/S2 or turn off this function in the settings interface.

S1 Photocell Unit Setting: The flash can function as an optic S1 secondary flash. With this function, the flash will fire synchronously when the main flash fires, the same effect as that by the use of wireless triggers.

S2 Photocell Unit Setting: The flash can function as an optic S2 secondary flash. This is useful when cameras have a pre-flash function. With this function, the flash will ignore a single “pre-flash” from the main flash and will only fire in response to the second, actual flash from the main flash.

With a slow shutter speed in multi flash mode, a rapid series of flashes is fired to capture multiple images of a moving subject in a single photograph. You can set the flash frequency (Hz), number of flashes, and flash output.

Flash frequency: 1-100

Using the Touch Screen: Slide the screen top-down to enter the menu. Click the M/Multi/TTL icon to choose <Multi>. Press the – or + icon to adjust flash power. Press the upper number icon to enter the adjustment interface for number of flashes and frequency. Slide the numbers to adjust.

Using Buttons and Select Dial: Press the MENU button. Rotate the dial to choose the M/Multi/TTL icon and press SET to choose <Multi>. Directly rotate the select dial to adjust flash power. Press the SET button to choose the upper icons for number of flashes or frequency, then rotate the select dial to adjust the parameters.

During multi flash, the shutter remains open until the firing stops. Use the formula below to calculate the shutter speed and set it with the camera:

Number of Flashes ÷ Flash Frequency = Shutter Speed

For example, if the number of flashes is 10 and the flash frequency is 5Hz, the shutter speed should be at least 2 seconds.

Note: To avoid overheating, do not use multi flash more than 10 times in succession. After 10 times, allow the camera flash to rest for at least 15 minutes.

The maximum number of consecutive flashes varies by power output and frequency:

To enter sender mode:

Using the Touch Screen: Slide the screen top-down to enter the menu, click the wi-off/sender/receiver icon and choose the sender icon.

Using Buttons and Select Dial: Press the MENU button, rotate the dial to choose the wi-off/sender/receiver icon, and press SET to choose the sender icon.

Once in sender mode, you can control groups M, A, B, and C. You can set each group to TTL auto flash, M manual flash, or OFF. In the Gr interface, press and hold a group box to switch among modes. The value inside the box will be white for M (manual) flash power or green for TTL flash compensation amount. You can adjust values by clicking the – or + icons or by pulling the progress bar.

To enter receiver mode:

Using the Touch Screen: Slide the screen top-down to enter the menu, click the wi-off/sender/receiver icon and choose the receiver icon.

Using Buttons and Select Dial: Press the MENU button, rotate the dial to choose the wi-off/sender/receiver icon, and press SET to choose the receiver icon.

Once in receiver mode, you can set the flash to TTL, M, or Multi mode. To set the group (A, B, C, or D), press the group icon on the screen or press the SET button and rotate the dial.

High speed sync (FP flash) enables the flash to synchronize with all camera shutter speeds. This is convenient when you want to use aperture priority for fill-flash portraits.

Using the Touch Screen: Slide the screen top-down to enter the menu interface, and click the high-speed sync icon to turn it on or off.

Using Buttons and Select Dial: Press the MENU button to enter the menu interface, rotate the select dial to choose the high-speed sync icon, then press the SET button to turn it on or off.

The minimal flash power is 1/16 in HSS mode.

With a slow shutter speed and second-curtain sync, you can create a light train following the subject, as the flash fires right before the shutter closes.

For the GODOX IT30PRO O, press the OK button on an Olympus camera or the MENU button on a Panasonic camera to enter the rear curtain sync mode setting. When the corresponding icon appears on the display, set the camera shutter.

Using the Touch Screen: Slide the screen top-down to enter the menu interface, then click the screen lock icon to turn on the function. To unlock, press and hold the screen for 2 seconds.

Using Buttons and Select Dial: Press the MENU button to enter the menu interface, rotate the dial to select the screen lock icon, then press the SET button to turn on the function. To unlock, press and hold the SET button for 2 seconds.

To prevent signal interference from other wireless flash systems, you can change the channel and wireless ID. The sender and receiver units must be set to the same channel and ID.

Channel Settings (01-32):

Enter the wireless settings menu. To set the channel, slide the “Channel” box to your desired channel using the touch screen, or use the select dial and SET button.

ID Settings (OFF/01-99):

Enter the wireless settings menu. To set the ID, slide the “ID” box to turn it off or choose your desired ID using the touch screen, or use the select dial and SET button.

The wireless sync function helps the sender and receiver to quickly set the same channel and ID. To use it, click the “SYNC” icon on both the sender and receiver units (e.g., another iT30 Pro, a flash trigger X3, or a retro flash Lux Master).

You can adjust the following custom functions on your GODOX IT30PRO O:

The sync cord jack is a Φ2.5mm plug. Insert a trigger plug here and the flash will be fired synchronously with the camera shutter.

To avoid overheating and deteriorating the flash head, do not fire more than the specified number of continuous flashes in fast succession. If you fire more flashes than recommended, the inner over-temperature protection function may be activated, increasing the recycle time to over 10 seconds. If this occurs, allow a rest time of about 10 minutes for the flash to return to normal. When over-temperature protection is started, an icon is shown on the LCD display.

The number of flashes that will activate over-temperature protection are:

If your GODOX IT30PRO O is not triggering wirelessly, check the following:

1. Disturbance by 2.4G signal in the outer environment (e.g., wireless base station, 2.4G Wi-Fi router, Bluetooth, etc.).

Solution: Adjust the channel (CH) setting on the flash trigger (add 10+ channels) and use a channel which is not disturbed. Or turn off other 2.4G equipment.

2. The flash has not finished its recycle, or is in an over-heat protection state.

Solution: Make sure the flash ready indicator is lit. Downgrade the flash power output. If the flash is in TTL mode, try changing it to M mode (a pre-flash is needed in TTL mode).

3. The distance between the flash trigger and the flash is too close (<0.5m).

Solution: Please turn on the “close distance wireless mode” on your trigger (e.g., C.Fn-DIST to 0-30m on Xpro/X2T triggers).

4. The flash trigger and the receiver are in low battery states.

Solution: Please replace the battery or charge it in time.

5. The flash trigger’s firmware is an older version.

Solution: Please upgrade the firmware of the flash trigger.

6. The camera’s firmware is an older version.

Solution: Please upgrade the firmware of the camera.

If your camera flash does not fire, try the following:

1. Attach the camera’s mounting foot securely to the camera.

2. If the electrical contacts of the camera flash and camera are dirty, clean the contacts with a dry cloth.

3. If the ready or HSS icon is not displayed in the viewfinder, wait until the flash is fully recycled and the flash ready indicator lights up.

4. If the flash ready indicator does not light up after a long wait, check if the battery power is sufficient. If the battery power is low, please replace or charge the battery immediately.

The power may turn off automatically due to power-saving features:

In wi-off/sender mode: If the standby function is on, the flash will enter sleep mode automatically after 90 seconds of idle use. Press the camera shutter halfway or press any button to wake up the flash unit. If the auto off function is also on, the flash will automatically shut down after 60 minutes (or 30, or 90 minutes) of idle use. Restart the flash unit.

In receiver mode: When the auto off function is on, the flash will automatically shut down after 60 minutes (or 30, or 90 minutes) of idle use. Restart the flash unit.

If the flash exposure is not correct, consider the following:

1. If you used high-speed sync, the effective flash range will be shorter. Make sure the subject is within the effective flash range displayed.

2. The subject may appear too dark or too bright. Set the proper FEC (Flash Exposure Compensation) value.

This product supports firmware upgrade through the USB-C port (USB-C cable sold separately). As the firmware upgrade needs the support of Godox G3 V1.1 software, please download and install the “Godox G3 V1.1 firmware upgrade software” before upgrading. Then, choose the related firmware file.
