The EXTRON TOUCHLINK TLP PRO 725T must be powered by Power over Ethernet (PoE). You must provide your own PoE power injector or use a PoE switch. To use a power injector:

1. Connect a straight-through Ethernet cable from the power injector’s LAN port to a network switch or router. This cable carries network information.

2. Connect a second straight-through Ethernet cable from the power injector’s LAN+PWR OUT port to the touchpanel. This cable carries both network information and 48 VDC power.

3. Connect the IEC power cord from the power injector to a convenient 100 VAC to 240 VAC, 50-60 Hz power source.

Alternatively, you can connect the touchpanel directly to a PoE switch.

• LCD touchscreen: A 7-inch, tough, scratch-resistant touchscreen with 1024×600 (WSVGA) resolution.

• Motion sensor (two): The sensor detects motion between 3 to 5 feet (0.9 to 1.5 meters) from the touchpanel, and at least 15° from the center axis. When Sleep Mode and Wake on Motion are enabled, the touchpanel will enter sleep mode after a period of no motion and will wake up when motion is detected.

• Communication LED: Shows the configuration and connection status. It is unlit during normal operation (configured and connected), blinks if configured but not connected, and lights steadily if not configured.

• Light sensor: Monitors ambient light level and adjusts screen brightness based on the configured settings.

• Front status light: A single LED in the center of the bottom edge. The light can blink or remain lit steadily in red or green. It can be configured to provide feedback information about the system status.

The base of the EXTRON TOUCHLINK TLP PRO 725T includes the following:

• MENU button: Activates the On-screen Menus.

• RESET button: Allows the unit to be reset in three different modes and can be used to toggle the DHCP client.

• Cable guide: An opening at the back of the base through which the Ethernet cable is inserted.

• RESET LED: Provides feedback about the reset status when the RESET button is pressed.

To open the setup menu, use a screwdriver with a fine blade to press the MENU button located on the base of the EXTRON TOUCHLINK TLP PRO 725T.

The menu opens at the Status screen. There are several different panels you can access:

• Status

• LinkLicenses

• System Information

• Network

• Display

• Audio

• Advanced

You can select the Status, Network, Display, Audio, and Advanced screens by pressing the appropriate button in the navigation panel at the top of the screen. The selected button will be yellow. LinkLicenses and System Information are accessible only from the Status screen.

Press the red Exit button in the top right corner to apply and save any changes and close the menu.

1. Access the on-screen menu by pressing the MENU button on the base.

2. Press the Network button in the navigation panel at the top of the screen.

3. Select the Max Ethernet Speed (100Mbps or 1.0Gbps).

4. If IP addresses are assigned by DHCP, press On. If IP addresses are assigned manually, press Off.

• When DHCP is On, the Host Name can be edited, but the other address fields are grayed out as they are set by the DHCP server.

• When DHCP is Off, the Host Name is grayed out, but you can edit the IP Address, Subnet Mask, Gateway, and DNS Primary addresses.

5. To edit a field, press the corresponding button. An alphanumeric keypad will appear for the Host Name, and a numeric keypad will appear for addresses.

6. Enter the new information and press Save or OK.

7. If you have made changes, the Apply and Revert buttons become active. Press Apply to save the new values or Revert to cancel the changes.

1. Access the on-screen menu by pressing the MENU button.

2. Press the Display button in the top navigation panel.

3. Configure the following settings:

• Sleep Timer: Toggle between On and Off. When On, the screen goes dark after a period of inactivity to save power. Use the up and down arrows to set the inactivity period from 1 to 120 minutes.

• Auto Brightness: Toggle between On and Off. When On, the light sensor automatically adjusts screen backlighting. When Off, brightness is not affected by ambient light.

• LCD Brightness: Use the slider control to manually adjust the screen brightness between 0 and 100.

• Wake on Motion: Toggle between On and Off. For this to work, the touchpanel must be in sleep mode. When On, motion detected by the motion sensor wakes the panel. When Off, you must press the screen to wake the panel.

1. Access the on-screen menu by pressing the MENU button.

2. Press the Audio button in the top navigation panel.

3. Use the slider controls to adjust the following volume settings:

• System: Sets the maximum volume for all other sound settings. For example, if System volume is set to 80 (80%), when the Sound volume is set to 90, it is equivalent to 90% of 80, which is 72% of maximum.

• Click: Sets the volume for audible feedback from events like a screen button being pressed.

• Sound: Sets the volume of audio from any audio file playback.

4. Click on the Speaker icon at the bottom of each panel to toggle between audio on and audio mute.

The Menu PIN is a 4-digit number that secures access to the setup menu.

1. Access the on-screen menu and press the Advanced button.

2. In the Menu PIN section, click On to enable the use of a PIN or Change to edit an existing PIN. This opens the PIN dialog.

3. On the numeric keypad, press a number. A blue circle appears in the first of four boxes.

4. Select the other three digits for the PIN. After the fourth digit is entered, the screen changes to “Confirm New Menu Pin”.

5. Enter the PIN a second time. If the PINs match, the PIN is set, and the dialog closes.

To disable the PIN, click Off in the Menu PIN section.

Firmware can be upgraded using the Toolbelt software. Before starting, ensure the touchpanel has a unique IP address and is connected to the same network as your computer.

1. On the Extron home page, select the Downloads tab and then click Firmware.

2. Start typing the product name (TLP Pro x25 Series) in the Search Firmware text box. The name will appear in a drop-down list.

3. Click the Firmware name from the list.

4. Click the Download button next to the latest firmware version.

5. Enter the required information and click the download button.

6. Go to your Downloads folder and click the file to install the firmware on your PC. By default, it is stored at C:\\Program Files (x86)\Extron\Firmware\\\\.

7. Open the Toolbelt software and upload this file to the touchpanel. For detailed instructions on using Toolbelt, refer to the Toolbelt Help File.

The EXTRON TOUCHLINK TLP PRO 725T can be placed on any suitable flat surface. For additional security, you can secure it to a table or desk with screws:

1. Under the table top, mark the location for two mounting holes, 2.71 inches (69 mm) apart.

2. Drill two holes through the table top from underneath.

3. Attach the touchpanel using two #6-32 machine screws through the table top from underneath into the two holes in the base of the touchpanel.

The touchpanel can also be mounted with the optional Extron SMA-2 swivel mount adapter, which must be purchased separately and installed following the instructions provided with the kit.

A LinkLicense activation file can be applied to the touchpanel using the Toolbelt software.

1. Open Toolbelt.

2. Connect the touchpanel.

3. Open the LinkLicense tab.

4. Press the … menu button.

5. Find the LinkLicense activation file on your computer.

6. Click Apply.

The LinkLicense is then applied to the touchpanel.

All Extron products can be safely cleaned with:

• 70% concentration or higher isopropyl alcohol

• Disinfectant cleaners that are non-ammonium based and contain 2% or less sodium hypochlorite (e.g., 2% bleach, 98% water).

Follow these general guidelines when cleaning:

1. If possible, unplug the device.

2. Spray the cleaner on a lint-free cloth until the cloth is damp.

3. Do not spray the cleaner directly onto the product.

4. Gently clean the product surface using the cloth.

This mode boots the unit with factory-installed firmware for a single power cycle, which is useful if a firmware update fails.

Activation:

1. Remove power from the touchpanel.

2. On the touchpanel base, hold down the recessed RESET button while re-applying power to the unit. When power is restored, the Reset LED lights.

3. Continue to hold the RESET button for a further 2 seconds before releasing it. The touchpanel enters factory firmware mode.

4. You can now upload new firmware to the unit as desired.

Result:

The unit reverts to factory-installed firmware for this session. All user files and settings are maintained. To return the unit to the firmware version that was running prior to the reset, simply cycle power to the unit.

This mode resets all IP settings to factory defaults.

Activation:

1. Hold down the RESET button for about 6 seconds until the Reset LED blinks twice (once at 3 seconds and again at 6 seconds).

2. Release and press the RESET button momentarily (for less than 1 second) within 1 second of releasing it.

Result:

• The IP address is set back to the factory default (192.168.254.251).

• The subnet is set back to the factory default (255.255.255.0).

• The default gateway address is set to the factory default (0.0.0.0).

• All other IP settings, addresses, and domain/host names are reset to factory default.

• DHCP is turned off.

This mode resets all IP settings and touchpanel settings, including passwords, to factory defaults and removes all configurations. It allows you to start over with configuration and uploading.

Activation:

1. Hold down the RESET button for about 9 seconds until the Reset LED blinks three times (at 3, 6, and 9 seconds).

2. Release and press the RESET button momentarily (for less than 1 second) within 1 second of releasing it.

Result:

• It performs all actions of the “Reset Network Settings” mode.

• It removes the touchpanel user interface layout and configurations.

• It resets all touchpanel settings to factory default.

• The password is reset to the default configuration, which is “extron” for both admin and user accounts.

This mode toggles between DHCP enabled and DHCP disabled.

Activation:

1. Press the RESET button five times consecutively.

2. Release the button. Do not press the button again within 3 seconds following the fifth press.

Result:

• If DHCP was enabled, it is now disabled. The Reset LED blinks three times.

• If DHCP was disabled, it is now enabled. The Reset LED blinks six times.

By default, DHCP is off and the unit uses a static IP address. When you disable DHCP, the unit reverts to using the previously-set static IP address.
