The EXTRON TOUCHLINK TLP PRO 1025T contains a battery. Do not open the unit to replace the battery yourself. If the battery needs replacing, the entire unit must be returned to Extron.

CAUTION: There is a risk of explosion if the battery is replaced by an incorrect type. Dispose of used batteries according to the instructions.

WARNING: The radiated output power of the wireless device is far below the FCC radio frequency exposure limits. Nevertheless, the unit should be used in such a manner that the potential for human contact during normal operation is minimized. To avoid the possibility of exceeding the FCC radio frequency exposure limits, you should keep a distance of at least 20 cm (8 inches) between you (or any other person in the vicinity) and the antenna that is built into the unit.

The wireless network device must be installed and used in strict accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions as described in the user documentation. Any other installation or use will violate FCC Part 15 regulations.

All EXTRON TOUCHLINK TLP PRO 1025T models share these features:

• LCD touchscreen: 24-bit color depth and a vibrant edge-to-edge glass display. The TLP Pro 1025 Series has a 10.1-inch touchscreen with 1280×800 (WXGA) resolution.

• Gorilla® Glass screen: Tough, scratch, and smudge-resistant.

• Faster, quad-core processing: Provides enhanced response and overall user experience.

• Power over Ethernet (PoE 802.3af, class 3) compliance: Allows the touchpanel to receive power and communication over a single Ethernet cable.

• Mounting Options: Tabletop models like the TLP Pro 1025T have a fixed 65-degree viewing angle and threaded holes in the baseplate for secure mounting.

• Remote Management: Can be managed, monitored, and controlled remotely using GVE (GlobalViewer Enterprise) Resource Management software.

• Built-in speaker: Provides audible feedback from button presses.

• Light sensor: Adjusts screen brightness as the ambient room lighting changes.

• Automatic clock synchronization: Displays accurate time and date.

• Energy-saving features: An adjustable sleep timer and a motion detector to wake the touchpanel.

• High speed USB 2.0 port: For future expansion.

Here is an overview of the installation process for your TLP Pro touchpanel:

1. Software Installation: Before starting, download and install the latest versions of the required software, which may include GUI Designer, Global Configurator Plus and Professional, ControlScript Deployment Utility, and Toolbelt.

2. Gather Network Information: Obtain the following from your network administrator:

• Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) status (on or off). If off, you will need an IP address, Subnet mask, and Gateway.

• User name (admin or user).

• Password (The factory default password is the device serial number. If reset, the default password is “extron”).

• MAC address (found on a label on the base of the TLP Pro 1025T).

3. Mount and Cable the Unit: Mount the touchpanel in its desired location. Connect the Ethernet cable for PoE and network communication.

4. Network Setup: Connect your PC, the control processor, and the touchpanel to the same Ethernet subnetwork. Use the On-screen Menus or Toolbelt software to set the DHCP status and other network settings.

5. Configure or Program the Touchpanel: Use the GUI Designer Help File, the Global Configurator Plus and Professional Help File, or the ControlScript Deployment Utility Help File for step-by-step instructions on programming the touchpanel.

The front panel of the EXTRON TOUCHLINK TLP PRO 1025T includes several key features:

• LCD touchscreen (A): A 10.1-inch tough, scratch-resistant touchscreen with 1280×800 (WXGA) resolution.

• Motion sensor (B): Two sensors that detect motion between 3 to 5 feet (0.9 to 1.5 meters) from the panel. When Sleep Mode and Wake on Motion are enabled, the panel wakes up when motion is detected.

• Communication LED (C): Shows the configuration and connection status. It is unlit during normal operation, blinks if configured but not connected to a control processor, and lights steadily if not configured.

• Light sensor (D): Monitors ambient light level and adjusts screen brightness automatically if the feature is enabled.

• Front status light (E): A single LED in the center of the bottom edge. It can be configured to blink or remain lit, in red or green, to provide system feedback.

The base of the EXTRON TOUCHLINK TLP PRO 1025T contains the following controls and connectors:

• MENU button (A): Activates the On-screen Menus for configuration.

• RESET button (B): Allows the unit to be reset in one of three modes and can be used to toggle the DHCP client on or off.

• Cable guide (C): An opening at the back of the base through which the Ethernet cable is inserted.

• RESET LED (D): Provides feedback about the reset status when the RESET button is pressed.

• LAN/PoE connector (E): The Ethernet port used for network communication and Power over Ethernet.

• Speaker (F): A single speaker that provides audible feedback for user actions.

The TLP Pro 1025T also has a USB 2.0 port and a rear status light (single LED, top center of the rear panel).

The EXTRON TOUCHLINK TLP PRO 1025T must be powered by Power over Ethernet (PoE). You must provide your own PoE power injector or use a PoE switch. The touchpanel does not ship with a power injector.

Using a PoE Power Injector:

1. Connect a straight-through Ethernet cable from the power injector’s LAN port to your network switch or router. This cable carries network information.

2. Connect a second straight-through Ethernet cable from the power injector’s “LAN + PWR OUT” port to the LAN/PoE connector on the touchpanel. This cable carries both network information and 48 VDC power.

3. Connect the IEC power cord of the power injector to a convenient 100 VAC to 240 VAC, 50-60 Hz power source.

Using a PoE Switch:

Alternatively, connect the touchpanel directly to a port on a PoE-enabled network switch using a standard Ethernet cable.

To access the setup menu, use a fine-bladed screwdriver to press the MENU button located on the base of the TLP Pro 1025T. The menus open at the Status screen.

There are several different panels you can access from the navigation bar at the top of the screen:

• Status: Provides a read-only summary of the touchpanel’s information.

• Network: Configure IP address, DHCP, and other network settings.

• Display: Adjust sleep timer, screen brightness, and motion sensor settings.

• Audio: Control system, click, and sound volume levels.

• Advanced: Access system and project information, and configure the Menu PIN.

Two additional panels, LinkLicenses and System Information, are available only by selecting them from within the Status screen.

Press the red Exit button in the top right corner to apply any changes, save, and close the menu screens.

1. Open the setup menu by pressing the MENU button on the base.

2. Press the Network button in the top navigation panel.

3. Select the Max Ethernet Speed (100Mbps or 1.0Gbps).

4. If IP addresses are assigned automatically by a server, press On in the DHCP section. If you need to set a static IP address, press Off.

• DHCP On: The Host Name can be edited, but all IP-related addresses are grayed out as they are assigned by the DHCP server.

• DHCP Off: The Host Name is grayed out. You can manually edit the IP Address, Subnet Mask, Gateway, and DNS Primary addresses. Press the button for the address you want to edit and use the on-screen keypads to enter the new values.

5. If you make any changes, the button color changes to blue. Press Apply to save the new values or Revert to undo the changes. If you have not made any changes, the Apply and Revert buttons are grayed out.

Access the Display settings from the on-screen setup menu by pressing the Display button in the top navigation panel. From here you can configure the following:

• Sleep Timer: Toggle between On and Off. When on, the screen goes dark after a period of inactivity to save power. Use the up and down arrows to set the inactivity period, from 1 to 120 minutes.

• Auto Brightness: Toggle between On and Off. When on, the light sensor automatically adjusts screen backlighting based on ambient light.

• LCD Brightness: If Auto Brightness is off, use the slider control to manually adjust the screen brightness between 0 and 100.

• Wake on Motion: Toggle between On and Off. For this to work, the touchpanel must be in sleep mode. If on, any motion detected by the motion sensor wakes the panel. If off, the panel can only be woken by pressing anywhere on the screen.

From the on-screen setup menu, press the Audio button in the top navigation panel. Use the slider controls to adjust the volume settings:

• System: Sets the maximum volume for all other sound settings. For example, if System volume is set to 80 (80%), and another sound is set to 90, the effective volume will be 90% of 80, which is 72% of the maximum.

• Click: Sets the volume for audible feedback from events like a screen button press.

• Sound: Sets the volume of audio from any audio file playback.

• Speaker icon: Click the speaker icon at the bottom of each panel to toggle between audio on and audio mute for that specific sound type.

You can enable, disable, or change a 4-digit PIN for the setup menu from the Advanced screen.

1. Open the setup menu and navigate to the Advanced screen.

2. In the Menu PIN section, click On to enable a new PIN or Change to edit an existing one. The PIN dialog box opens.

3. Use the numeric keypad to enter a 4-digit number. A blue circle appears in the box for each digit entered.

4. After the fourth digit is entered, the screen changes to “Confirm New Menu Pin”.

5. Enter the same 4-digit PIN a second time. If the PINs match, the PIN is set, and the dialog box closes.

To disable the PIN, click Off in the Menu PIN section.

Several software applications are used to configure and manage the EXTRON TOUCHLINK TLP PRO 1025T:

• Extron Toolbelt: Used to provide device information, firmware updates, configuration of network settings, system utilities (reset, reboot), and user management (username and password).

• GUI Designer: Used to design the touchpanel screen layout and graphical elements.

• Global Configurator Plus and Professional: Used to assign functions to the screen elements designed in GUI Designer.

• ControlScript Deployment Utility: An alternative to Global Configurator, used to program control functions for the text and graphic items on the interface.

These touchpanels are not compatible with Global Configurator 3 or GUI Configurator.

The general workflow for configuring the graphical user interface (GUI) on a TLP Pro touchpanel is as follows:

1. Design the GUI Layout: Use GUI Designer, a Windows-based application, to design the layout of the screen text and graphics. You can customize an existing template or create a new interface from scratch.

2. Import the Design: After the interface has been designed, the project is saved, built, and imported into Global Configurator Plus and Professional.

3. Assign Functions: Use Global Configurator Plus and Professional to assign control functions to the text and graphics of the interface.

4. Upload to Devices: After assigning the control functions, the project is rebuilt and uploaded to the control processor and the touchpanel.

Alternatively, instead of using Global Configurator, you can use ControlScript Deployment Utility to program control functions for the interface items.

To access the TLP Pro touchpanel’s default web page, enter the IP address of the unit into the web browser of a PC connected to the same subnet. A login page will open.

Enter the Username and Password. The factory-configured passwords for all accounts on this device are set to the device serial number. Passwords can be changed during configuration and are case-sensitive.

If the device is reset to default settings, the password is reset to the default password, which is “extron” (for either admin or user).

The web page is a single, mostly read-only page that provides general and network information about the unit.

Firmware for the EXTRON TOUCHLINK TLP PRO 1025T can be upgraded using the Toolbelt software. Before starting, consult your IT team and ensure the touchpanel has a unique IP address and that your computer is connected to the same network.

After obtaining the correct firmware file, you can upload it to the touchpanel using Toolbelt. For detailed information about using Toolbelt to update the firmware, see the Toolbelt Help File.

The EXTRON TOUCHLINK TLP PRO 1025T can be placed on any suitable flat surface. For additional security, you can secure the touchpanel to a table or desk with screws:

1. Under the tabletop, mark the location of the two mounting holes, which are 2.71 inches (69 mm) apart. This distance is the same for all tabletop models.

2. Drill two holes through the tabletop from underneath at the marked locations.

3. Attach the touchpanel by inserting two #6-32 machine screws through the tabletop from underneath into the two threaded holes in the base of the touchpanel.

The TLP Pro 1025T can also be mounted with the optional Extron SMA-2 swivel mount adapter, which must be purchased separately.

A LinkLicense activation file can be applied to the touchpanel using the Toolbelt software. For detailed instructions, refer to the Toolbelt Help File.

1. Open Toolbelt.

2. Connect to the touchpanel.

3. Open the LinkLicense tab.

4. Press the menu button (…).

5. Find the LinkLicense activation file on your computer.

6. Click Apply.

The LinkLicense is now applied to the touchpanel. Note that once a redemption code is used, the LinkLicense is permanently tied (locked) to the specific device serial number and cannot be transferred.

To safely clean your EXTRON TOUCHLINK TLP PRO 1025T, Extron recommends the following guidelines:

Approved Cleaners:

• 70% concentration or higher isopropyl alcohol

• Disinfectant cleaners that are non-ammonium based and contain 2% or less sodium hypochlorite (e.g., 2% bleach, 98% water).

Cleaning Procedure:

1. If possible, unplug the device.

2. Spray the cleaner on a lint-free cloth until the cloth is damp.

3. Do not spray the cleaner directly onto the product.

4. Gently clean the product surface using the damp cloth.

To connect an occupancy sensor, configure the port as an Input (switch 1 open, switch 2 open). The sensor will typically supply +24 VDC when occupancy is detected, and 0 VDC when no occupancy is detected after a defined period.

• Room Occupied: Digital input reads +2.8 to 24 VDC = Logic High

• Room Unoccupied: Digital Input reads 0 VDC = Logic Low

To connect a two-position switch, configure the port as an Input with pull-up (switch 1 open, switch 2 closed).

• Two Position Switch Open: Digital input reads +5 VDC = Logic High

• Two Position Switch Closed: Digital Input reads 0 VDC = Logic Low

This reset mode boots the unit with its factory-installed firmware for a single power cycle. It is useful if a firmware update fails or causes issues.

Activation:

1. Remove power from the touchpanel.

2. Press and hold down the recessed RESET button on the base while re-applying power to the unit.

3. When power is restored, the Reset LED will light. Continue to hold the RESET button for another 2 seconds, then release it.

The touchpanel will enter factory firmware mode. You can then upload new firmware as desired. To return to the firmware version that was running before this reset, simply cycle the power to the unit.

This mode resets all IP settings to their factory defaults.

Activation:

1. Hold down the RESET button for about 6 seconds until the Reset LED blinks twice (once at 3 seconds and again at 6 seconds).

2. Within 1 second of the second blink, release and momentarily press the RESET button again (for less than 1 second).

Result:

• The IP address is reset to 192.168.254.251.

• The subnet is reset to 255.255.255.0.

• The default gateway is reset to 0.0.0.0.

• All other IP settings, addresses, and domain/host names are reset to factory default.

• DHCP is turned off.

This mode resets all IP and touchpanel settings (including passwords) to factory defaults and removes all user configurations.

Activation:

1. Hold down the RESET button for about 9 seconds until the Reset LED blinks three times (at 3, 6, and 9 seconds).

2. Within 1 second of the third blink, release and momentarily press the RESET button again (for less than 1 second).

Result:

• Performs all actions of the “Reset Network Settings” mode.

• Removes the touchpanel user interface layout and all configurations.

• Resets all touchpanel settings to factory default.

After a full factory reset, the password is the default password configuration, which is “extron” (for either admin or user accounts).

This mode toggles between DHCP enabled and DHCP disabled.

Activation:

1. Press the RESET button five times consecutively.

2. Release the button. Do not press the button again within 3 seconds following the fifth press.

Result:

• If DHCP was enabled, it is now disabled. The Reset LED blinks three times.

• If DHCP was disabled, it is now enabled. The Reset LED blinks six times.

By default, DHCP is off. When you disable DHCP, the unit reverts to using the previously-set static IP address.

To properly create and upload a custom SSL certificate to your EXTRON TOUCHLINK TLP PRO 1025T, the certificate file must meet the following requirements:

• Contains X.509 certificate information.

• Contains public and private keys.

• Uses PEM encoding. (Note: A DER format file must be converted to PEM encoding before uploading).

These devices support standard OpenSSL certificate encodings such as .pem (ASCII encoded) and .der (binary encoded). DER file types must be converted to PEM before they can be used.

For 802.1X authentication, files must be in PEM (Privacy-enhanced Electronic Mail) format, which is ASCII encoded.

Certificate File Requirements:

• It contains X.509 certificate information.

• It contains a private key (for machine certificates only).

• It is PEM encoded.

• It has a file extension that is .crt or .pem.

• Its file name consists of alphanumerical characters (A-Z, a-z, 0-9) and some special characters (colon [:], underscore [_], and hyphen [-]). Spaces are not permitted.

Private Key File Requirements (for machine certificates only):

• Its file name consists of alphanumerical characters (A-Z, a-z, 0-9) and some special characters (colon [:], underscore [_], and hyphen [-]).

• It has a file extension that is .key or .pem.

• It can have optional encryption (via password or passphrase).
