The EXTRON TOUCHLINK TLP 1025M includes the following features:

• Remote Management: The device can be managed, monitored, and controlled remotely using GVE GlobalViewer Enterprise Resource Management software.

• Built-in speaker: Provides audible feedback from button presses.

• Light sensor: Adjusts screen brightness as the ambient room lighting changes.

• Automatic clock synchronization: Allows the touchpanel to display the accurate time and date.

• Energy-saving features: An adjustable sleep timer puts the touchpanel into sleep mode, and a motion detector wakes it up.

The EXTRON TOUCHLINK TLP 1025M offers several system-level features:

• It is compatible with the full range of Extron IPL Pro and IPCP Pro control processors.

• The touchpanel can be transformed into an all-in-one Pro xi Series control system using LinkLicense for TLP Control Processor.

• A system connection status indicator LED provides visual feedback on communication with a control processor.

• The user interface is fully customizable using Extron control system software like GUI Designer combined with Global Configurator Plus/Professional or ControlScript Deployment Utility.

• It supports the Extron Control App and Extron Control for Web.

An Extron IP Link Pro control interface must be connected to the same network domain as the EXTRON TOUCHLINK TLP 1025M touchpanel. Note that these TLP Pro touchpanels are not compatible with Extron IP Link (non-Pro) control processors.

1. Download and Install Software: Before installation, download the latest versions of the required software:

• GUI Designer (for designing layouts)

• Global Configurator Plus and Professional (for setting up and configuring)

• ControlScript Deployment Utility (for programming)

• Toolbelt (for device discovery, firmware updates, network settings)

2. Obtain Network Information: Get the following from your network administrator:

• Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) status (on or off). If off, you will also need an IP address, Subnet mask, and Gateway.

• User name (admin or user).

• Password (factory default is the device serial number).

• MAC address (found on the rear panel label).

• Information on SSL security certificates and IEEE 802.1X authentication if required.

3. Mount and Cable the Unit: Mount the unit and connect the necessary cables. Before powering on, be aware of Power over Ethernet (PoE) guidelines. Configure the touchpanel before mounting if you need access to the rear panel Menu button.

4. Set Up Network Communication: Connect your PC, the control processor, and the touchpanel to the same Ethernet subnetwork. Use the On-screen Menus or Toolbelt to set the DHCP status and other network settings.

5. Configure or Program the Touchpanel: Use the GUI Designer Help File, Global Configurator Help File, and ControlScript Deployment Utility Help File for step-by-step instructions on configuring the TLP Pro touchpanel.

• LCD touchscreen: A 10.1-inch tough, scratch-resistant touchscreen with 1280×800 (WXGA) resolution.

• Motion sensor: Detects motion between 3 to 5 feet from the touchpanel. When Sleep Mode and Wake on Motion are enabled, the touchpanel enters sleep mode after a period of no motion and wakes up when motion is detected.

• Communication LED: Shows the configuration and connection status. It is unlit during normal operation, blinks if configured but not connected to a processor, and is steadily lit if not configured.

• Light sensor: Monitors ambient light and adjusts screen brightness accordingly.

• Front status light: Two LEDs (one on each side) that can be configured to blink or stay lit in red or green to provide system feedback.

• MENU button: Activates the On-screen Menus.

• RESET button: Allows the unit to be reset in different modes and can toggle the DHCP client.

• Reset LED: Provides feedback about the reset status.

• Mounting slots: Four slots (one in each corner) for attaching to a mounting plate.

• Digital input monitoring port: A two-pole captive screw port to monitor digital input with or without a +5 VDC pull-up.

• LAN/PoE connector: For network connection and power via Power over Ethernet.

• USB port: Compatible with USB 2.0 for future expansion.

• Speaker: Provides audible feedback. The TLP Pro 1025M has two (dual mono) speakers.

• Slot for mounting plate: The tongue at the bottom of the mounting plate fits into this slot for wall mounting.

• Mounting screw: Tightens against the mounting plate to secure the touchpanel.

The two-pole captive screw port (1 = signal, G = ground) monitors digital input. The logic state depends on whether the pull-up resistor is enabled or disabled.

The EXTRON TOUCHLINK TLP 1025M must be powered by Power over Ethernet (PoE). You must provide your own PoE power injector or use a PoE switch. To use a power injector:

1. Connect a straight-through Ethernet cable from the power injector’s LAN port to your network switch or router. This carries network information.

2. Connect a second straight-through Ethernet cable from the power injector’s LAN+PWR OUT port to the touchpanel. This carries network information and 48 VDC power.

3. Connect the power injector’s IEC power cord to a convenient 100 VAC to 240 VAC, 50-60 Hz power source.

Alternatively, you can connect the touchpanel directly to a PoE-enabled switch port.

To open the setup menu, use a screwdriver with a fine blade to press the MENU button located on the rear panel of the device. The menus open at the Status screen. There are several panels you can navigate to:

• Status

• LinkLicenses (accessed from the Status screen)

• System Information (accessed from the Status screen)

• Network

• Display

• Audio

• Advanced

Select a panel by pressing the appropriate button in the navigation panel at the top of the screen. The button for the selected screen is yellow. To save changes and close the menus, press the red Exit button in the top right corner.

To Enable LinkLicenses:

1. From the Status screen, move the toggle switch in the LinkLicenses pane to the right (on position). Note: A LinkLicense must be applied to the touchpanel for the switch to be active.

2. In the “Enable LinkLicenses” dialog box that appears, click the “Enable LinkLicenses” button. This will remove all user-loaded project files and reboot the device.

3. The device will reboot. All projects that were on the touchpanel will have been removed and need to be reloaded.

To Disable LinkLicenses:

1. From the Status screen, move the toggle switch in the LinkLicenses pane to the left (off position).

2. In the “Disable LinkLicenses” dialog box that appears, click the “Disable LinkLicenses” button. This will also remove all user-loaded project files and reboot the device.

3. The device will reboot. All projects will need to be reloaded.

Pairing is done from the System Info section of the Status tab. This process is not applicable if the touchpanel is in LinkLicense mode.

1. In the System Information panel of the Status page, click Edit.

2. The System ID dialog box opens. Enter the Primary Controller Address.

3. Enter the four-digit System ID number. This number is generated by ControlScript Deployment Utility or Global Configurator Plus and Professional and is needed to link the touchpanel to the control processor.

4. Click Save. The dialog box closes and the Primary Controller Address and System ID are displayed in the System Information pane.

1. Press the Network button in the top navigation panel to open the Network screen.

2. Select the Max Ethernet Speed (100Mbps or 1.0Gbps).

3. If IP addresses are assigned by DHCP, press On. If addresses are assigned manually, press Off.

• When DHCP is On, you can edit the Host Name. All other addresses are grayed out.

• When DHCP is Off, the Host Name is grayed out, but you can edit the IP Address, Subnet Mask, Gateway, and DNS Primary addresses.

4. To edit an address field (when DHCP is off), press the button for that address. A numeric keypad will appear.

5. Select an octet and enter the 3-digit value. Valid values are between 0 and 255. When a valid value is entered, the next octet is automatically selected.

6. Press OK to save the changes or Cancel to discard them.

7. On the Network screen, if you have made changes, press Apply to save the new values or Revert to return to the previous values.

Press the Display button in the navigation panel to open the Display screen. From here you can configure the following:

• Sleep Timer: Toggle between On and Off. If on, the screen goes dark after a period of inactivity. Use the up and down arrows to set the inactivity period from 1 to 120 minutes.

• Auto Brightness: Toggle between On and Off. If on, the light sensor automatically adjusts screen backlighting. If off, brightness is not affected by ambient light.

• LCD Brightness: Use the slider control to manually adjust the screen brightness between 0 and 100.

• Wake on Motion: Toggle between On and Off. This requires the touchpanel to be in sleep mode. If on, any motion detected by the motion sensor wakes the panel. If off, the panel wakes only when the screen is pressed.

Press the Audio button in the navigation panel to open the Audio screen. Use the slider controls to adjust the following settings:

• System: Sets the maximum volume for all other sound volume settings. For example, if System volume is set to 80, a sound setting of 90 will be 90 percent of 80.

• Click: Sets the volume for audible feedback from events like a screen button being pressed.

• Sound: Sets the volume of audio from any audio file playback.

• Speaker icon: Click the speaker icon at the bottom of each panel to toggle between audio on and audio mute.

From the Advanced screen, you can enable, disable, or change the 4-digit setup menu PIN.

1. In the Menu PIN section, click On to enable a PIN or Change to edit an existing one. This opens the PIN dialog.

2. On the numeric keypad, press a number. A blue circle appears in the first of four boxes.

3. Select the other three digits for the PIN. The screen will then change to “Confirm New Menu Pin”.

4. Enter the same PIN a second time. If it matches the first entry, the PIN is set and the dialog closes.

To disable the PIN, click Off in the Menu PIN section.

The TLP Pro series touchpanels are compatible with GUI Designer, Global Configurator Plus and Professional, ControlScript Deployment Utility, and Toolbelt. All software products can be downloaded.

1. Navigate to the Downloads tab on the Extron home page.

2. If the software is listed under “Featured Software,” click it to go to the product page. Otherwise, click “Software” in the Downloads list.

3. In the Download Center, start typing the name of the software in the search box. Select the software from the drop-down list.

4. On the software page, click Download.

5. An executable file (.exe) is placed in your default Downloads folder. You may need an Extron Insider account to run some programs.

6. Run the executable file to install the software. By default, it creates a new folder at `C:\Program Files\Extron` or `C:\Program Files (x86)\Extron`.

Firmware can be upgraded using Toolbelt. Ensure the touchpanel has a unique IP address and is on the same network as your computer.

1. On the Extron home page, select the Downloads tab.

2. Click Firmware in the Downloads list.

3. In the Search Firmware text box, start typing the product name. Select the firmware from the drop-down list.

4. Information about the firmware appears. Click Download.

5. Enter the required information and click the download button.

6. Go to your Downloads folder and click the file to install the firmware on your PC. By default, it is stored at `C:\\Program Files (x86)\Extron\Firmware\<product name>\<firmware version>`.

7. Upload this file to the touchpanel using Toolbelt. For specific instructions, see the Toolbelt Help File.

The TLP Pro 1025M mounts to a 2-gang junction box using the provided mounting plate.

1. Install a 2-gang junction box or wall box according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

2. Fasten the correct mounting plate to the wall box with the provided screws. Use the mounting holes appropriate for your junction box type (US, MK, or EU).

3. Run and connect cables to the back of the touchpanel.

4. Position the touch panel so that the four mounting slots on its rear align with the four hooks on the mounting plate.

5. Move the touchpanel inwards so the slots move over the hooks.

6. Move the touchpanel down so it is seated securely on the hooks and the tongue at the bottom of the mounting plate sits in a groove in the bottom of the touchpanel.

7. Tighten the mounting screw on the bottom to fasten the touchpanel to the mounting plate.

If local building codes do not require a wall box, you can mount the touchpanel directly into drywall.

1. Download the cut-out template for your touchpanel and print it at 100% size (no scaling).

2. Remove the gray area from the template, place it level against the wall, and use it to mark the hole to be cut and the location of the mounting slots.

3. Cut the hole in the wall.

4. Drill two pilot holes at the marked slot locations.

5. Secure the mounting plate to the wall using appropriate hardware, such as two molly bolts or SnapToggle bolts.

6. Complete the installation as described in steps 3 through 7 for mounting to a wall box (connect cables, hang on plate, secure with screw).

A LinkLicense can be applied to the touchpanel using Toolbelt software.

1. Open Toolbelt.

2. Connect to the touchpanel.

3. Open the LinkLicense tab.

4. Press the … menu button.

5. Find the LinkLicense activation file that you downloaded after purchase.

6. Click Apply.

The LinkLicense will be applied to the touchpanel.

All Extron products can be safely cleaned with:

• 70% concentration or higher isopropyl alcohol

• Disinfectant cleaners that are non-ammonium based and contain 2% or less sodium hypochlorite (bleach).

Follow these general guidelines when cleaning:

1. If possible, unplug the device.

2. Spray the cleaner on a lint-free cloth until the cloth is damp.

3. Do not spray the cleaner directly onto the product.

4. Gently clean the product surface using the cloth.

The reset modes are initiated by pressing the recessed RESET button on the rear panel.

Use Factory Firmware:

This mode boots the unit with factory-installed firmware for a single power cycle.

1. Remove power from the touchpanel.

2. Hold down the RESET button while re-applying power. When the Reset LED lights, continue to hold the button for 2 more seconds, then release. The touchpanel enters factory firmware mode.

3. You can now upload new firmware. To return to the previously running firmware, simply cycle power to the unit.

Reset Network Settings:

This mode resets all IP settings to factory defaults.

1. Hold down the RESET button for about 6 seconds until the Reset LED blinks twice (at 3 and 6 seconds).

2. Release and momentarily press the RESET button again (for <1 second) within 1 second.

Full Factory Reset:

This mode resets all IP and touchpanel settings (including passwords) to factory defaults and removes all configurations.

1. Hold down the RESET button for about 9 seconds until the Reset LED blinks three times (at 3, 6, and 9 seconds).

2. Release and momentarily press the RESET button again (for <1 second) within 1 second.

This mode toggles between DHCP enabled and DHCP disabled. This is supported on firmware version 3.0 or higher.

1. Press the RESET button five times consecutively.

2. Release the button. Do not press it again within 3 seconds.

• If DHCP was enabled, it is now disabled, and the Reset LED blinks three times.

• If DHCP was disabled, it is now enabled, and the Reset LED blinks six times.

To create an 802.1X security certificate for uploading to the EXTRON TOUCHLINK TLP 1025M, ensure the certificate file meets the following requirements:

• It contains X.509 certificate information.

• It contains a private key (for machine certificates only).

• It is PEM encoded. DER encoded files must be converted to PEM before use.

• It has a file extension of .crt or .pem.

• Its file name consists only of alphanumerical characters (A-Z, a-z, 0-9) and some special characters (colon [:], underscore [_], and hyphen [-]). Spaces are not permitted.

Private key files are required only when using machine certificates. The file must meet these requirements:

• Its file name consists only of alphanumerical characters (A-Z, a-z, 0-9) and some special characters (colon [:], underscore [_], and hyphen [-]).

• It has a file extension of .key or .pem.

• It can have optional encryption (via password or passphrase).
