Follow this overview for installing your EXTRON TOUCHLINK TLP PRO 525M:

1. Download and install software: Before starting, download the latest versions of GUI Designer, Global Configurator Plus and Professional, ControlScript Deployment Utility, and Toolbelt.

2. Obtain network information: Get the following from your network administrator:

• Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) status (on or off). If off, you will also need an IP address, Subnet mask, and Gateway.

• User name (admin or user).

• Password (The factory default is the device serial number. If reset, the default is “extron”).

• MAC address (found on the rear panel label).

• SSL security certificates and IEEE 802.1X authentication information if required.

3. Mount and cable the unit: Mount the touchpanel. If you plan to use the setup menu for network configuration, configure the touchpanel before mounting to access the rear panel Menu button. Connect cables and then power on all devices.

4. Set up for network communication: Connect your PC, the Extron control processor, and the touchpanel to the same Ethernet subnetwork. Use the On-screen Menus or Toolbelt to set the DHCP status and, if needed, the IP address, subnet mask, and gateway.

5. Configure or program the Touchpanel: Use the GUI Designer Help File, the Global Configurator Plus and Professional Help File, the ControlScript Deployment Utility Help File, and the Toolbelt Help File for step-by-step instructions.

A. LCD touchscreen: A 5-inch, tough, scratch-resistant touchscreen with 800×480 (WVGA) resolution.

B. Motion sensor (two): Detects motion between 3 to 5 feet from the panel. When Sleep Mode and Wake on Motion are enabled, the touchpanel enters sleep mode after a period of no motion and wakes up when motion is detected.

C. Communication LED: Shows the configuration and connection status.

• Unlit: The touchpanel is configured and connected to an IP Link Pro control processor.

• Blinks: The touchpanel is configured but not connected to a control processor.

The EXTRON TOUCHLINK TLP PRO 525M is powered by Power over Ethernet (PoE). You must provide your own PoE power injector or use a PoE switch.

Using a Power Injector:

1. Connect a straight-through Ethernet cable from the power injector’s LAN port to a network switch or router. This carries network information.

2. Connect a second straight-through Ethernet cable from the power injector’s LAN+PWR OUT port to the touchpanel. This carries network information and 48 VDC power.

3. Connect the power injector’s IEC power cord to a convenient 100 VAC to 240 VAC, 50-60 Hz power source.

Using a PoE Switch:

Alternatively, connect the touchpanel directly to a port on a PoE-enabled network switch.

To open the setup menu, use a fine-bladed screwdriver to press the MENU button on the rear panel. The menus open at the Status screen.

There are seven different panels available:

• Status

• LinkLicenses (accessed from the Status screen)

• System Information (accessed from the Status screen)

• Network

• Display

• Audio

• Advanced

You can select the Status, Network, Display, Audio, and Advanced screens by pressing the appropriate button in the navigation panel at the top of the screen. The button for the selected screen is yellow. To apply and save any changes and close the menus, press the red Exit button in the top right corner.

To enable LinkLicenses:

1. From the on-screen Status menu, move the toggle switch in the LinkLicenses pane to the right. A LinkLicense must be applied to the touchpanel for the switch to be active.

2. A dialog box opens warning that enabling LinkLicenses will remove all user-loaded project files and reboot the device. Click “Enable LinkLicenses”.

3. The dialog text changes to “Waiting to Reboot,” and the touchpanel reboots. All previous projects are removed and need to be reloaded.

To disable LinkLicenses:

1. From the on-screen Status menu, move the toggle switch in the LinkLicenses pane to the left.

2. A dialog box opens warning that disabling LinkLicenses will remove all user-loaded project files and reboot the device. Click “Disable LinkLicenses”.

3. The screen goes blank as the touchpanel reboots. All previous projects are removed and need to be reloaded.

To pair the touchpanel with a control processor, follow these instructions from the on-screen menu:

1. In the System Information panel of the Status page, click Edit. The System ID dialog box opens.

2. Enter the Primary Controller Address.

3. Enter the System ID. This is a four-digit number generated by ControlScript Deployment Utility or Global Configurator Plus and Professional, which is needed to link the touchpanel to a control processor.

After entering the information, the dialog box closes, and the Primary Controller Address and System ID are displayed in the System Information pane.

From the on-screen menu, press the Network button.

1. Select the Max Ethernet Speed (100Mbps or 1.0Gbps).

2. If IP addresses are assigned by DHCP, press On. If IP addresses are assigned manually, press Off.

• When DHCP is On, the Host Name can be edited, but the addresses are grayed out as they are set by the DHCP server.

• When DHCP is Off, the Host Name is grayed out, but you can edit the IP Address, Subnet Mask, Gateway, and DNS Primary addresses.

3. To edit an address field (when DHCP is off), press the button for that address. A numeric keypad appears.

4. Select an octet and enter the 3-digit value. Octets can be any value between 0 and 255. When a valid value is entered, the next octet is automatically selected.

5. Press OK to save the changes and return to the Network screen. If you have changed any values, the button background turns blue. Press Apply to apply the new values or Revert to return to the previous values.

From the on-screen menu, press the Display button to access the Display screen.

• Sleep Timer: Toggle between On and Off. When On, the screen goes dark to save power after a period of inactivity. Use the up and down arrows to set the inactivity period from 1 to 120 minutes.

• Auto Brightness: Toggle between On and Off. When On, the light sensor monitors ambient light and automatically adjusts screen backlighting. When Off, brightness is not affected by ambient light.

• LCD Brightness: Use the slider control to adjust the screen brightness between 0 and 100.

• Wake on Motion: Toggle between On and Off. For this to work, the touchpanel must be in sleep mode. When On, any motion detected by the motion sensor wakes the panel. When Off, the panel does not wake on motion and must be activated by touching the screen.

From the on-screen menu, press the Audio button to access the Audio screen. Use the slider controls to adjust the volume settings:

• System: Sets the maximum volume for all other sound settings. For example, if System volume is 80, a Sound volume of 90 is equivalent to 90 percent of 80 (72 percent of maximum).

• Click: Sets the volume for audible feedback from events like a screen button press.

• Sound: Sets the volume of audio from any audio file playback.

• Speaker icon: Click the Speaker icon at the bottom of each panel to toggle between audio on and audio mute.

From the on-screen menu, navigate to the Advanced screen.

1. In the Menu PIN section, click On to enable a PIN, Off to disable it, or Change to edit an existing PIN. Clicking On or Change opens the PIN dialog if no PIN is set.

2. The “Enter New Menu PIN” screen appears. Press a number on the keypad. A blue circle appears in the first of four boxes.

3. Select the other three digits for the PIN. After the fourth digit, the screen changes to “Confirm New Menu Pin”.

4. Enter the PIN a second time. If it matches the first entry, the PIN is set, and the dialog closes.

Software such as Room Agent, Toolbelt, GUI Designer, Global Configurator Plus and Professional, and ControlScript Deployment Utility can be downloaded.

1. Go to the Downloads section of the Extron website. You can either select the software from the “Featured Software” list or click “Software” in the “Find Software & Downloads” list.

2. If you clicked “Software”, you will be taken to the Download Center. Start typing the name of the software (e.g., Toolbelt) in the “Search Software” box.

3. Click the software name from the drop-down list. Information about the software will appear.

4. Click the Download button on either the Software Product Page or the Software Search page.

5. An executable file (.exe) is placed in your default Downloads folder. You may need an Extron Insider account to run some programs.

6. Run the executable file to install the software. By default, it creates a new folder at `C:\Program Files\Extron` or `C:\Program Files (x86)\Extron`.

Firmware can be upgraded using the Toolbelt software. Before starting, ensure the touchpanel has a unique IP address and is on the same network as your computer.

1. On the Extron home page, select the Downloads tab, then click Firmware.

2. In the Search Firmware text box, start typing “TLP Pro x25 Series”. The firmware name will appear in a drop-down list.

3. Click the firmware name. Information about the firmware appears.

4. Click the Download button.

5. Enter any required information and click the download button.

6. Go to your Downloads folder and click the file to install the firmware on your PC. By default, it is stored at `C:\\Program Files (x86)\Extron\Firmware\\`.

7. Use the Toolbelt software to upload this file to the touchpanel. Refer to the Toolbelt Help File for specific instructions on uploading firmware.

The EXTRON TOUCHLINK TLP PRO 525M mounts to a 1-gang junction box.

1. Install a 1-gang junction box following the manufacturer’s instructions. A US 1-gang box should be installed horizontally.

2. Fasten the provided mounting plate to the wall box with the provided screws. Use the mounting holes on the plate that are appropriate for your junction box type.

3. Run and connect cables to the back of the touchpanel.

4. Position the touchpanel so the two mounting slots on its rear align with the two hooks at the top of the mounting plate.

5. Move the touchpanel inwards so the slots move over the hooks.

6. Move the touchpanel down so it is seated securely on the hooks and the tongue at the bottom of the mounting plate is sitting in the groove at the bottom of the touchpanel.

7. Tighten the mounting screw on the bottom of the touchpanel to fasten it to the mounting plate.

All Extron products, including the EXTRON TOUCHLINK TLP PRO 525M, can be safely cleaned with:

• 70% concentration or higher isopropyl alcohol.

• Disinfectant cleaners that are non-ammonium based and contain 2% or less sodium hypochlorite (2% bleach, 98% water).

Follow these general guidelines when cleaning:

1. If possible, unplug the device.

2. Spray the cleaner on a lint-free cloth until the cloth is damp.

3. Do not spray the cleaner directly onto the product.

4. Gently clean the product surface using the cloth.

This mode boots the unit with factory-installed firmware for a single power cycle, which is useful if a firmware update fails.

Activation:

1. Remove power from the touchpanel.

2. Hold down the recessed RESET button on the rear panel while re-applying power. When power is restored, the Reset LED lights. Continue holding the RESET button for 2 more seconds, then release it.

3. The touchpanel enters factory firmware mode. You can now upload new firmware as desired.

Result:

The unit reverts to factory-installed firmware. All user files and settings are maintained. To return to the firmware version that was running before the reset, simply cycle power to the unit.

This mode resets all IP settings to factory defaults.

Activation:

1. Hold down the RESET button for about 6 seconds until the Reset LED blinks twice (once at 3 seconds and again at 6 seconds).

2. Within 1 second, release and press the RESET button momentarily (for less than 1 second).

Result:

• The IP address is reset to 192.168.254.251.

• The subnet is reset to 255.255.255.0.

• The default gateway is reset to 0.0.0.0.

• All other IP settings, addresses, and names are reset to factory default.

• DHCP is turned off.

This mode resets all IP and touchpanel settings, including passwords, to factory defaults and removes all configurations.

Activation:

1. Hold down the RESET button for about 9 seconds until the Reset LED blinks three times (at 3, 6, and 9 seconds).

2. Within 1 second, release and press the RESET button momentarily (for less than 1 second).

Result:

• Performs everything the “Reset Network Settings” mode does.

• Removes the touchpanel user interface layout and configurations.

• Resets all touchpanel settings to factory default.

• The password is reset to the default configuration, which is “extron” (for either admin or user accounts).

This mode toggles between DHCP enabled and disabled.

Activation:

1. Press the RESET button five times consecutively.

2. Release the button. Do not press it again within 3 seconds.

Result:

• If DHCP was enabled, it is now disabled. The Reset LED blinks three times.

• If DHCP was disabled, it is now enabled. The Reset LED blinks six times.

By default, DHCP is off. When you disable DHCP, the unit reverts to using the previously-set static IP address.
