The EXTRON TOUCHLINK TLP PRO 725M includes the following features:

• Manage, monitor, and control this device remotely using GVE: GlobalViewer Enterprise Resource Management software.

• Automatic clock synchronization: Allows the touchpanel to display the accurate time and date.

The front panel of the EXTRON TOUCHLINK TLP PRO 725M has the following components:

• A – LCD touchscreen: A 7-inch touchscreen made with tough, scratch-resistant glass with 1024×600 (WSVGA) resolution.

• B – Motion sensor (two): Detects motion between 3 to 5 feet (0.9 to 1.5 meters) from the device, and at least 15° from the center axis. It wakes the touchpanel from sleep mode when motion is detected.

• C – Communication LED: Shows the configuration and connection status of the touchpanel. It is unlit during normal operation, blinks if configured but not connected to a control processor, and lights steadily if not configured.

• D – Light sensor: Monitors ambient light level and adjusts screen brightness based on the configured settings.

• E – Front status light (two): Two LEDs (one on each side) that can blink or remain lit steadily in red or green. They can be configured to provide feedback information about the system status.

The rear panel of the EXTRON TOUCHLINK TLP PRO 725M has the following features:

• A – MENU button: Activates the On-screen Menus.

• B – RESET button: Allows the unit to be reset in different modes and can be used to toggle the DHCP client.

• C – Reset LED: Provides feedback about the reset status when the RESET button is pressed.

• D – Mounting slots: Four slots, one in each corner, for wall mounting.

• E – Digital input monitoring port: A two-pole captive screw port that monitors digital input with or without a +5 VDC pull-up.

• F – LAN/PoE connector: For network connection and powering the device via Power over Ethernet (PoE).

• H – Speaker: Provides audible feedback for the user.

• I – Slot for mounting plate: The tongue at the bottom of the mounting plate fits into this slot for wall mounting.

• J – Mounting screw: Tightens against the tongue of the mounting plate to secure the touchpanel.

• K – Rear status light: Six LEDs (three on each side of the rear panel) that can blink or remain lit in red or green to provide system feedback.

The digital input monitoring port is a two-pole captive screw port (1 = signal and G = ground) that monitors digital input. The specifications are as follows:

The EXTRON TOUCHLINK TLP PRO 725M must be powered by Power over Ethernet (PoE). You must provide your own PoE power injector or connect the touchpanel to a PoE switch.

To connect using a power injector:

1. Connect a straight-through Ethernet cable from the power injector’s LAN port to a network switch or router. This carries network information.

2. Connect a second straight-through Ethernet cable from the power injector’s LAN+PWR OUT port to the LAN/PoE port on the touchpanel. This carries network information and 48 VDC power.

3. Connect the IEC power cord of the power injector to a convenient 100 VAC to 240 VAC, 50-60 Hz power source.

To open the setup menu, use a screwdriver with a fine blade to press the MENU button. The MENU button is located on the rear panel of the device.

The menus open at the Status screen. There are seven different panels:

• Status

• LinkLicenses

• System Information

• Network

• Display

• Audio

• Advanced

You can select different screens by pressing the appropriate button in the navigation panel at the top. Press the red Exit button in the top right corner to apply and save any changes and close the menu screens.

To pair the touchpanel with a control processor, follow these instructions from the on-screen setup menu:

1. From the Status screen, click Edit in the System Information panel. The System ID dialog box opens.

2. Enter the Primary Controller Address.

3. Enter the System ID. This is a four-digit number generated by the configuration software needed to link the touchpanel to a control processor.

After entering the information, the dialog box closes, and the Primary Controller Address and System ID are displayed in the System Information pane.

From the on-screen setup menu, press the Network button in the navigation panel to open the Network screen.

1. Select the Max Ethernet Speed (100Mbps or 1.0Gbps).

2. If IP addresses are assigned by DHCP, press On. If IP addresses are assigned manually, press Off.

• When DHCP is On, the Host Name can be edited. The addresses are grayed out as they are set by the DHCP server.

• When DHCP is Off, the Host Name is grayed out. All addresses (IP Address, Subnet Mask, Gateway, DNS Primary) can be edited.

3. To edit an address when DHCP is off, press the button for the address you want to change. A screen with a numerical keypad will appear.

4. Select an octet and enter the 3-digit value (0-255). When a valid value is entered, the next octet is automatically selected.

5. Press OK to save the changes or Cancel to discard them. If you have changed any values, the button’s background turns blue. Press Apply to apply the new values or Revert to return to the previous values.

From the on-screen setup menu, press the Display button to open the Display screen. Here you can configure the following:

• Sleep Timer: Toggle between On and Off. If on, after a period of inactivity, the screen goes dark to save power (Sleep mode). Use the up and down arrows to set the inactivity period from 1 to 120 minutes.

• Auto Brightness: Toggle between On and Off. If on, the light sensor monitors ambient light and automatically adjusts screen backlighting.

• LCD Brightness: Use the slider control to manually adjust the screen brightness between 0 and 100.

• Wake on Motion: Toggle between On and Off. For this to work, the touchpanel must be in sleep mode. If on, any motion detected by the motion sensor wakes the panel. If off, the panel can be activated by pressing anywhere on the screen.

From the on-screen setup menu, press the Audio button to open the Audio screen. Use the slider controls to adjust the following settings:

• System: Sets the maximum volume for all other sound volume settings. For example, if the System volume is set to 80 (80 percent of maximum), and the sound volume is set to 90, it is equivalent to 90 percent of 80, which is 72 percent of maximum.

• Click: Sets the volume for audible feedback that accompanies events such as a screen button being pressed.

• Sound: Sets the volume of audio from any audio file playback.

• Speaker icon: Click on the Speaker icon at the bottom of each panel to toggle between audio on and audio mute.

From the on-screen setup menu, go to the Advanced screen. In the Menu PIN section, you have three options:

• Click On to enable the use of a PIN.

• Click Off to disable the use of a PIN.

• Click Change to edit an existing PIN.

If you click On or Change, a PIN dialog opens. Follow these steps:

1. Enter a 4-digit number on the keypad. A blue circle appears for each digit entered.

2. After the fourth digit, the screen changes to “Confirm New Menu PIN”.

3. Enter the same 4-digit PIN a second time. If it matches the first entry, the PIN is set and the dialog closes.

1. Install a 2-gang junction box or wall box following the manufacturer’s instructions.

2. Fasten the correct mounting plate for your touchpanel to the wall box with the provided screws. Use the mounting holes on the plate that are appropriate for the junction box you are using.

3. Run and connect cables to the back of the touchpanel.

4. Position the touchpanel so that the four mounting slots in the rear align with the four hooks on the mounting plate.

5. Move the touchpanel inwards so that the slots move over the hooks.

6. Move the touchpanel down so that it is seated securely on the hooks and the tongue at the bottom of the mounting plate is sitting in a groove in the bottom of the touchpanel.

7. Tighten the mounting screw on the bottom of the touchpanel to fasten it to the mounting plate.

If local building codes do not require a wall box, you can mount the touchpanel directly into drywall.

1. Obtain the cut-out template for your touchpanel, print it at 100% size, and remove the gray area in the center.

2. Place the template against the wall or furniture, ensure it is level, and use it to mark the hole to be cut and the location of the MK slots.

3. Cut a hole in the wall or furniture.

4. Drill two pilot holes at the location of the MK slots.

5. Secure the mounting plate to the wall using two molly bolts or SnapToggle bolts.

6. Complete the installation as described in steps 3 through 7 for mounting to a wall box.

All Extron products can be safely cleaned with:

• 70% concentration or higher isopropyl alcohol

• Disinfectant cleaners that:

• Are non-ammonium based (for example, contains no ammonium chloride)

• Contain 2% or less sodium hypochlorite (for example, 2% bleach, 98% water)

Follow these general guidelines when cleaning:

1. If possible, unplug the device.

2. Spray the cleaner on a lint-free cloth until the cloth is damp.

3. Do not spray the cleaner directly onto the product.

4. Gently clean the product surface using the cloth.

To connect an occupancy sensor to the Digital I/O port, the port must be configured as an Input (switch 1 open, switch 2 open).

• Room Occupied: Digital input reads +2.8 to 24 VDC = Logic High

• Room Unoccupied: Digital Input reads 0 VDC = Logic Low

An occupancy sensor typically supplies +24 VDC when occupancy is detected. After a defined period when no occupancy is detected, the sensor supplies 0 VDC.

To connect a two-position switch, the port must be configured as an Input with pullup (switch 1 open, switch 2 closed).

• Two Position Switch Open: Digital input reads +5 VDC = Logic High

• Two Position Switch Closed: Digital Input reads 0 VDC = Logic Low

This mode is used to boot the unit with factory-installed firmware for a single power cycle if a firmware update fails or issues arise with user-loaded firmware.

Activation:

1. Remove power from the touchpanel.

2. On the touchpanel, hold down the recessed RESET button while re-applying power to the unit. When power is restored, the Reset LED lights. Hold the RESET button for a further 2 seconds before releasing it. The touchpanel enters factory firmware mode.

3. Upload new firmware to the unit as desired.

Result:

The unit reverts to factory-installed firmware. All user files and settings such as drivers, adjustments, and IP settings are maintained. To return the unit to the firmware version that was running prior to the reset, cycle power to the unit.

This mode resets all IP settings to factory defaults.

Activation:

1. Hold down the RESET button for about 6 seconds until the Reset LED blinks twice (once at 3 seconds and again at 6 seconds).

2. Release and press RESET momentarily (for <1 second) within 1 second. Nothing happens if the momentary press does not occur within 1 second.

Result:

• Sets the IP address back to factory default (192.168.254.251).

• Sets the subnet back to factory default (255.255.255.0).

• Sets the default gateway address to the factory default (0.0.0.0).

• Sets all other IP settings, addresses, and domain and host names back to factory default.

• Turns DHCP off.

This mode resets all IP settings and touchpanel settings, including passwords, to factory defaults and removes all configurations.

Activation:

1. Hold down the RESET button for about 9 seconds until the Reset LED blinks three times (once at 3 seconds, again at 6 seconds, and again at 9 seconds).

2. Release and press RESET momentarily (for <1 second) within 1 second. Nothing happens if the momentary press does not occur within 1 second.

Result:

This performs a complete reset to factory defaults (except the firmware). It does everything the “Reset Network Settings” mode does, removes the touchpanel user interface layout and configurations, and resets all touchpanel settings to factory default.

The factory configured passwords for all accounts on this device have been set to the device serial number. After a Full Factory Reset, the password is the default password configuration of “extron” (for either admin or user accounts).

This mode toggles between DHCP enabled and DHCP disabled.

Activation:

1. Press the RESET button five times consecutively.

2. Release the button. Do not press the button again within 3 seconds following the fifth press.

Result:

• If DHCP was enabled, it is now disabled. The Reset LED blinks three times.

• If DHCP was disabled, it is now enabled. The Reset LED blinks six times.

By default, DHCP is off and the unit uses a static IP address. When you disable DHCP, the unit reverts to using the previously-set static IP address.

The EXTRON TOUCHLINK TLP PRO 725M contains a battery. Do not open the unit to replace the battery. If the battery needs replacing, return the entire unit to Extron.

CAUTION: Risk of Explosion if Battery is replaced by an Incorrect Type. Dispose of Used Batteries According to the Instructions.
