The EXTRON TOUCHLINK TLP PRO 525T has a variety of features for AV system control:

• LCD Touchscreen: It features a 5-inch touchscreen with 800×480 (WVGA) resolution and 24-bit color depth.

• Gorilla® Glass Screen: The screen is tough, scratch-resistant, and smudge-resistant, maintaining touch sensitivity and brightness.

• Processing: A faster, quad-core processor provides enhanced response and user experience.

• Power over Ethernet (PoE): It is compliant with PoE (802.3af, class 3), allowing the touchpanel to receive power and communication over a single Ethernet cable, eliminating the need for a local power supply. A power injector is sold separately.

• Mounting: The tabletop design has a fixed 65-degree viewing angle for comfort. Threaded holes in the baseplate allow for secure mounting to a table. It can also be used with the optional SMA-2 Swivel Mount Adapter.

• Remote Management: The device can be managed, monitored, and controlled remotely using GVE (GlobalViewer Enterprise) Resource Management software.

• Audio: A built-in speaker provides audible feedback from button presses.

• Sensors: A light sensor adjusts screen brightness based on ambient room lighting, and a motion detector wakes the touchpanel from sleep mode.

• Connectivity: It has a high-speed USB 2.0 port for future expansion and a Kensington lock support to secure the touchpanel to a surface.

• Compatibility: The touchpanel is compatible with the full range of Extron IPL Pro and IPCP Pro control processors and supports the Extron Control App and Extron Control for Web.

The EXTRON TOUCHLINK TLP PRO 525T includes the following energy-saving features:

• Adjustable Sleep Timer: This feature puts the touchpanel into sleep mode after a user-defined period of inactivity to save power.

• Motion Detector: When the touchpanel is in sleep mode, the motion detector senses movement and automatically wakes the touchpanel, making it ready for use.

Hardware:

An Extron IP Link Pro control interface must be connected to the same network domain as the touchpanel. These touchpanels are not compatible with Extron IP Link (non-Pro) control processors.

Software:

The following software is used with the EXTRON TOUCHLINK TLP PRO 525T:

• Toolbelt: Provides device discovery, firmware updates, and configuration of network settings, system utilities, and user management.

• GUI Designer: Used to design the touchpanel screen layout and graphics.

• Global Configurator Plus and Professional: Used to assign functions to the screen elements and configure the system.

• ControlScript Deployment Utility: An alternative to Global Configurator for programming control functions.

NOTE: These touchpanels are not compatible with Global Configurator 3 or GUI Configurator.

Before installing the EXTRON TOUCHLINK TLP PRO 525T, you should obtain the following network information from your network administrator:

• Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) status: Whether DHCP is on or off.

• Static IP Information (if DHCP is off):

• IP address

• Subnet mask

• Gateway

• User Name: This can be either admin or user.

• Password: The factory configured password for all accounts is the device serial number. The default password after a reset is “extron” for both admin and user accounts.

• MAC Address: Make a note of the MAC address from the label on the base of the touchpanel.

The EXTRON TOUCHLINK TLP PRO 525T must be powered by Power over Ethernet (PoE). You must provide your own PoE power injector, as one is not shipped with the unit. To connect power:

1. Connect a straight-through Ethernet cable from the LAN port on the power injector to a network switch or router. This carries network information.

2. Connect a second straight-through Ethernet cable from the LAN + PWR OUT port on the power injector to the LAN/PoE connector on the touchpanel base. This carries network information and 48 VDC power.

3. Connect the IEC power cord from the power injector to a convenient 100 VAC to 240 VAC, 50-60 Hz power source.

Alternatively, you can connect the touchpanel directly to a PoE-enabled network switch.

ATTENTION:

• The installation must always be in accordance with the applicable provisions of National Electrical Code ANSI/NFPA 70, article 725 and the Canadian Electrical Code part 1, section 16.

• Power over Ethernet (PoE) is intended for indoor use only. It is to be connected only to networks or circuits that are not routed to the outside plant or building.

• Always use a power supply provided by or specified by Extron. Use of an unauthorized power supply voids all regulatory compliance certification and may cause damage.

To open the setup menu, use a screwdriver with a fine blade to press the MENU button located on the base of the EXTRON TOUCHLINK TLP PRO 525T. The menus will open at the Status screen. From there, you can navigate to Network, Display, Audio, and Advanced settings using the buttons at the top of the screen.

First, access the on-screen menu by pressing the MENU button on the base. Then, press the “Network” button at the top of the screen.

1. Select Ethernet Speed: Choose between 100Mbps or 1.0Gbps.

2. Set DHCP: Press “On” if IP addresses are assigned by DHCP. Press “Off” if you need to assign them manually.

• If DHCP is On: You can edit the Host Name. The other address fields will be grayed out as they are set by the DHCP server. To edit the Host Name, press the button and use the on-screen alphanumeric keypad.

• If DHCP is Off: The Host Name is grayed out. You can edit the IP Address, Subnet Mask, Gateway, and DNS Primary addresses. Press the button for the address you wish to edit and use the on-screen numeric keypad to enter the values for each octet.

3. Apply Changes: If you have made changes, the buttons for the changed values will turn blue. Press the “Apply” button to save the new values or “Revert” to cancel the changes. If no changes were made, the Apply and Revert buttons are grayed out.

To access the touchpanel’s default web page, enter the IP address of the EXTRON TOUCHLINK TLP PRO 525T into the web browser of a PC that is connected to the same network subnet. A log-in page will open. You will need to enter the Username and Password for the device. The factory-configured password for all accounts is the device’s serial number. If the device has been reset to default settings, the default password is “extron” for either admin or user accounts.

The EXTRON TOUCHLINK TLP PRO 525T has several front-panel indicators:

• Communication LED: This shows the configuration and connection status.

• Unlit: The touchpanel is configured and connected to an IP Link Pro control processor.

• Blinking: The touchpanel is configured but not connected to a control processor.

• Steady light: The touchpanel has not been configured.

• Light Sensor: This sensor monitors ambient light and adjusts screen brightness automatically if Auto Brightness is enabled.

• Front Status Light: This is a single LED in the center of the bottom edge. For TLP Pro touchpanels, this light can be configured to blink or remain steadily lit in red or green to provide system feedback. For example, a steady red light or a blinking green light can be programmed to indicate different system statuses.

The EXTRON TOUCHLINK TLP PRO 525T has two motion sensors that detect motion between 3 to 5 feet away and at least 15° from the center axis. The motion sensor’s primary function is to wake the panel from sleep mode.

Configuration:

To configure this feature, access the on-screen menu and navigate to the “Display” screen.

• Sleep Timer: Must be set to “On” for the panel to enter sleep mode after a period of inactivity.

• Wake on Motion: Must be set to “On”.

Operation:

• If the Sleep Timer has been set and no motion is detected for the defined period, the touchpanel enters sleep mode (the screen goes dark).

• While the screen is in sleep mode, any motion detected by the sensor will wake the panel. The screen lights up and all buttons become functional.

• If Wake on Motion is set to “Off”, the panel will not wake in response to motion. You must press anywhere on the screen to wake it.

To adjust the display settings, access the on-screen menu and navigate to the “Display” screen. You can configure the following options:

• Sleep Timer: Toggle between “On” and “Off”. When on, the screen goes dark to save power after a period of inactivity. Use the up and down arrows to set the inactivity period from 1 to 120 minutes.

• Auto Brightness: Toggle between “On” and “Off”. When on, the light sensor automatically adjusts the screen’s backlighting based on ambient light. When off, the brightness is not affected by ambient light.

• LCD Brightness: Use the slider control to manually adjust the screen brightness on a scale from 0 to 100.

• Wake on Motion: Toggle between “On” and “Off”. When on, and the touchpanel is in sleep mode, motion detected by the sensor will wake the panel. When off, you must press the screen to wake it.

To adjust audio settings, access the on-screen menu and navigate to the “Audio” screen. Use the slider controls for the following settings:

• System: Sets the maximum volume for all other sound settings. For example, if System volume is at 80% and another sound is set to 90%, the actual output will be 90% of 80% (or 72% of maximum).

• Click: Sets the volume for audible feedback when a screen button is pressed.

• Sound: Sets the volume of audio from any audio file playback.

• Speaker Icon: Click the speaker icon at the bottom of each volume panel to toggle between audio on and audio mute for that specific sound type.

The Menu PIN is a 4-digit number that can be used to protect access to the setup menu. To manage the PIN, access the on-screen menu and navigate to the “Advanced” screen.

• To enable a PIN, click “On”.

• To disable a PIN, click “Off”.

• To change an existing PIN, click “Change”.

If no PIN has been set, clicking “On” or “Change” will open the PIN setup dialog. Follow these steps:

1. On the numeric keypad, press a number. A blue circle will appear in the first entry box.

2. Enter the other three digits for your new PIN.

3. The screen will then change to “Confirm New Menu Pin”.

4. Enter the same 4-digit PIN a second time. If it matches the first entry, the PIN is set and the dialog box closes.

You can switch the Communication LED on or off from the Advanced screen in the on-screen menu. Access the setup menu by pressing the MENU button on the base, then navigate to the “Advanced” screen. In the Communication LED panel, press the “Enable” or “Disable” button to switch the LED on or off.

For additional security, you can secure the EXTRON TOUCHLINK TLP PRO 525T to a flat surface like a table or desk using two screws. The base has two mounting holes for this purpose.

1. From underneath the tabletop, mark the location for two mounting holes. They should be 2.71 inches (69 mm) apart.

2. Drill two holes through the tabletop from underneath at the marked locations.

3. Place the touchpanel on the tabletop, aligning its base holes with the drilled holes.

4. From underneath, attach the touchpanel using two #6-32 machine screws, passing them through the tabletop and into the threaded holes in the touchpanel’s base.

To safely clean your EXTRON TOUCHLINK TLP PRO 525T, especially the frequently touched screen, follow these guidelines:

Approved Cleaners:

• 70% concentration or higher isopropyl alcohol.

• Disinfectant cleaners that are non-ammonium based AND contain 2% or less sodium hypochlorite (e.g., 2% bleach, 98% water).

Cleaning Procedure:

1. If possible, unplug the device.

2. Spray the cleaner on a lint-free cloth until the cloth is damp. Do not spray the cleaner directly onto the product.

3. Gently clean the product surface using the damp cloth.

Firmware can be upgraded using the Toolbelt software. Before starting, ensure the touchpanel has a unique IP address and you have a computer connected to the same network.

1. On the Extron home page, select the “Downloads” tab.

2. Click “Firmware” in the Downloads list.

3. In the “Search Firmware” text box, start typing the product name (TLP Pro x25 Series). Select it from the drop-down list.

4. Click the “Download” button next to the desired firmware version.

5. Enter the required information and click the download button.

6. Go to your Downloads folder and click the file to install the firmware on your PC. By default, it is stored at C:\Program Files (x86)\Extron\Firmware\<product name>\<firmware version>.

7. Use the Toolbelt software to upload this firmware file to the touchpanel. For detailed instructions on using Toolbelt for firmware updates, see the Toolbelt Help File.

The product contains a battery. Do not open the unit to replace the battery yourself. If the battery needs replacing, you must return the entire unit to Extron.

CAUTION: There is a risk of explosion if the battery is replaced by an incorrect type. Dispose of used batteries according to instructions.

The EXTRON TOUCHLINK TLP PRO 525T has three reset modes and a DHCP toggle function, all initiated by pressing the recessed RESET button on the base of the unit.

1. Use Factory Firmware:

This mode boots the unit with its factory-installed firmware for a single power cycle. It is useful if a firmware update fails or causes issues. All user files and settings are maintained.

• Activation: Remove power. Hold down the RESET button while re-applying power. The Reset LED lights. Continue holding RESET for 2 more seconds, then release.

• Result: The unit starts in factory firmware mode. You can now upload new firmware. To return to the previously running firmware, simply cycle the power.

2. Reset Network Settings:

This mode resets all IP settings to factory defaults (IP: 192.168.254.251, Subnet: 255.255.255.0, DHCP: Off).

• Activation: Hold the RESET button for about 6 seconds until the Reset LED blinks twice. Release and momentarily press RESET again within 1 second.

3. Full Factory Reset:

This mode resets all IP settings and touchpanel settings (including passwords) to factory defaults and removes all user configurations. This allows you to start over.

• Activation: Hold the RESET button for about 9 seconds until the Reset LED blinks three times. Release and momentarily press RESET again within 1 second.

• Result: All settings are reset to factory default, and user interface layouts are removed. Passwords are set to the default (“extron”).

4. Toggle DHCP Client:

This mode toggles the DHCP client between enabled and disabled.

• Activation: Press the RESET button five times consecutively. Do not press the button again for 3 seconds.

• Result: If DHCP was enabled, it is now disabled (Reset LED blinks three times). If it was disabled, it is now enabled (Reset LED blinks six times).

An Extron LinkLicense unlocks a set of features that add convenience and expand the functionality of your system, such as transforming your touchpanel into an all-in-one control processor.

How to Obtain a LinkLicense:

Customers can obtain a LinkLicense by purchasing a redemption code. Once purchased, the end-user receives the code. You will need to go to the Extron LinkLicense Redemption webpage, enter the redemption code and the touchpanel’s serial number. After verification, you can download the LinkLicense activation file.

How to Apply a LinkLicense:

The activation file is applied to the EXTRON TOUCHLINK TLP PRO 525T using the Toolbelt software.

1. Open Toolbelt.

2. Connect to the touchpanel.

3. Open the LinkLicense tab.

4. Press the menu button (…).

5. Find and select the LinkLicense activation file you downloaded.

6. Click Apply.

NOTE: Once a redemption code is used, the LinkLicense is permanently tied (locked) to the specific device serial number entered and cannot be transferred to another device.
