Status Display:

Provides the on-off status of the Cool Boss functions, the fan power settings as a percentage, current temperature of the air in °F at the Cool Boss Fan, the timer status, and a low-water warning.

Control Functions:

• **Power** – Push on-off. Applies power to the Cool Boss.

• **Fan** – Push on-off. Applies power to the Fan.

• **Cooling** – Push on-off. Applies power to the Pump, which provides water to the Spray Bar over the Media.

• **Anion Negative Ion Air Purifier** – Push on-off. Applies power to the Anion Generator.

• **Timer** – Push to scroll through preprogramed shutdown times. Allows the operator to select an automatic shutdown time in 1 hour increments, up to 12 hours maximum.

• **Up** – Push to increase the Fan speed.

• **Down** – Push to decrease the Fan speed.

• **LED** – Push on-off. Applies power to the LED Floodlight located near the top of the Cool Boss.

The audio system controls on the COOL BOSS CB-28HV function as follows:

• **Audio Power** – Push on-off. Applies power to the Cool Boss Audio section.

• **Play Pause** – Push to begin playback or pause the current audio file.

• **Prev.** – Quickly Push-Skips back to the previous audio file.

The remote control for the COOL BOSS CB-28HV requires two (2) AAA 1.5 Volt batteries (not included). The remote utilizes infrared light to communicate with the unit and must be pointed toward the control panel from within 32 ft. / 10 m with a direct line-of-sight.

There are six basic steps in the COOL BOSS CB-28HV setup:

1. Unbox.

2. Install the Casters.

3. Install the Media.

4. Determine the Cool Boss location.

5. Fill the reservoir or connect to water.

6. Connect the Cool Boss to power.

To unbox the Cooler:

1. Use a hammer and pry bar to carefully remove the shipping container from around the unit.

2. Position the Cooler with its back side down to provide access to the bottom of the unit. The back of the shipping container may be used to provide a clear, clean area to work on the Cooler.

1. Locate and install the four swivel casters using the four bolts and flat washers for each caster. The casters are shipped in a separate box with the Remote Control.

2. Lock the two rear casters by pushing down on the larger pedal. Pushing down on the small caster pedal releases the lock.

3. Have an assistant help rotate the Cool Boss upright onto its casters.

Properly installed Media is critical for the COOL BOSS CB-28HV’s operation. The black resin side (Moisture Lock) must always be installed toward the warm air side. The internal channels within the media should be oriented so that the water flows down and inward towards the fan.

The CB-28HV uses two different size Media sections:

To install the Media:

1. Remove and retain the screws securing the Media Holder Splash Guard.

2. Insert one Outside Media section. Verify the Moisture Lock Black Resin side is oriented to the warm-air side and channels direct water flow downward and toward the warm air intake side. Slide the first Media as far left as possible.

3. Install the remaining outside Media section and slide it as far right as possible. Orient the channels as in the previous step.

4. Install the remaining Center Media section. Orient the channels as in the previous steps.

5. Install the Media Splash Guard using the three screws removed in step 1.

Find a suitable location for the COOL BOSS CB-28HV (hot air to the rear, cooling area to the front). The unit should be indoors, near an appropriate power and water source, and in a low-traffic and well-ventilated area.

1. Unlock the Casters to roll the Cool Boss. Direct the Fan outlet toward the area to be cooled.

2. Keep a minimum of 36 in. / 914 mm behind the Cool Boss open for air intake. Ensure a window or door is open for adequate air flow.

3. Once you have moved the Cool Boss into position, Lock a minimum of two Casters by pressing down with your foot on the large pedal locking mechanism. To unlock, press down on the small pedal.

There are two options to fill the reservoir on the COOL BOSS CB-28HV, which has a capacity of approximately 80 gal. / 300 liters.

Option 1: Using a Hose Connection

1. Connect a standard 3/4 inch hose to the Water Inlet Connector on the left side of the unit. The hose should be rated for 28 to 99.5 psi maximum water pressure.

2. Open the water supply valve. The Reservoir Float Valve will automatically shut off the water when the maximum fill level is reached.

Option 2: Manual Filling

1. Disconnect the Cool Boss from power.

2. Remove the threaded plug from the Water Reservoir Inlet, located below the Reservoir Fill Level Gauge.

3. Add clean, cold water (less than 113°F / 45°C). Monitor the Fill Gauge on the front of the unit and fill to the “Max” level only. Do not overfill.

4. Replace the threaded plug and dry any spilled water from the unit or floor.

All electrical work must be accomplished by a licensed Electrician. The COOL BOSS CB-28HV requires 220 to 240 VAC on a properly grounded and dedicated 15 Amp circuit. The power cord does not include an electrical plug.

1. Verify the Cool Boss is disconnected from the power source.

2. Verify the unit is configured for 220 VAC operation by checking the Model/Serial Number plate near the display.

3. Have a licensed Electrician attach an appropriate 250 VAC NEMA 30A, 2-Pole, 3-Wire plug (not included) to the power cord.

4. The Electrician will connect the plug based on the color codes. Wire colors can vary; consult the diagrams in the manual for proper connection.

5. Plug the power cord into a 220 VAC outlet protected by an appropriate circuit breaker.

6. Test the unit to verify it is working normally.

If an extension cord is required for the COOL BOSS CB-28HV, use only cords with a polarized plug/receptacle no longer than 100 feet in length.

1. Before starting, verify the Media Holder Splash Guard is secured in place.

2. Open a door or window if using the unit indoors for sufficient airflow.

3. Verify the unit is connected to a water source or the reservoir is full.

4. Close the Flow Control Valve by turning it clockwise until it stops.

5. Verify at least two locking Casters are locked.

6. Plug the unit into an appropriate electrical receptacle.

7. Press Power on the Fan Controls.

8. Press the Fan button. Press Up or Down to adjust the power setting to 25% or less.

9. Verify the Low Water Indicator on the Status Display is Green. If it is Red, check the water source.

10. If the indicator is Green, press the Cooling button to provide power to the pump.

11. Slowly open the Flow Control Valve. Leave it on low until the top ~30% of the Media becomes saturated (about 30 seconds). Once saturated, the flow valve may be slowly opened more.

12. Press Up or Down to adjust the fan speed.

13. Increase water flow to increase cooling and moisture; decrease water flow to reduce cooling and moisture.

To shut down the COOL BOSS CB-28HV:

1. Close the Flow Control Valve and turn off the Pump by pressing the Cooling Button once.

2. If using the 3/4 inch Water Source inlet, close the valve supplying the water to the unit.

3. Run the Fan to dry the Media. This may take 15 to 60 minutes.

4. When the Media is dry, press the power button to shut down the unit.

To shut down using the Timer:

1. Close the Flow Control Valve and turn off the pump by pressing the Cooling Button once.

2. If using the 3/4 inch Water Source inlet, close the Valve supplying water to the unit.

3. Press the Timer button until the desired number of hours before shut-down is displayed.

To use the Anion Negative Ion Air Purifier function on the COOL BOSS CB-28HV, push the Anion button once on the Control Panel or the Remote Control. The Anion indicator will illuminate on the Status Display. Push the Anion button once more to shut down the Anion generator.

1. Verify power is supplied to the Cool Boss.

2. Turn the Cool Boss Volume Control to a low level.

3. Press the Power button in the Cool Boss Audio section.

4. Press the Mode button until the BT is illuminated on the Audio Display section.

5. A chime will sound and bL:UE will appear on the audio display.

6. Go to the Bluetooth settings on your mobile device and select XF-a from the list of available devices to pair.

7. A chime will sound if your device was successfully paired.

8. Select and play the desired media on your mobile device.

9. Adjust the volume to your desired level.

10. To shut down the Audio System, simply press the Power Button once.

The USB port provides power anytime the COOL BOSS CB-28HV is in the on condition. It will not play audio files.

1. Connect the Cool Boss to power.

2. Connect your device to the USB connector on the Control Panel using an appropriate USB cable (not provided).

3. Press the main Cool Boss Power button (not the Audio Section power button).

4. Power should now be provided to the USB device.

• **Daily**: Turn off the Cooling Pump and run the Fan to dry the Media to inhibit the growth of bacteria, mold, and mildew. This can take 15 to 60 minutes.

• **Weekly**: Change the Reservoir water when it becomes dirty. Draining and cleaning the Reservoir weekly or more often can remove contaminants and reduce mineral build-up.

• **Monthly**: Test the GFCI function. Test the GFCI on the Power Cord once a month to ensure it is functioning correctly.

• **Monthly**: Clean the outside of the unit. Unplug the unit and wipe it down with a damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or spray the unit with water.

• **Monthly**: Empty the Reservoir and clean it.

• **Monthly**: Remove and clean the Media. Dirt and pollutants from the environment become caught in the Media. Clean it regularly to keep the air fresh.

1. The Media must be dry before removing. If wet, run the Fan without the Cooling Pump until dry.

2. Turn off and unplug the Cool Boss.

3. Remove and retain the fasteners securing the Media Holder Splash Guard, then remove the guard.

4. Remove the center Media first by pulling the top of the Media away from the unit.

5. Remove the remaining Media in the same manner.

6. Remove the plug at the bottom of the Reservoir and drain the water. Take care to retain the O-Ring that provides a seal.

7. Remove any residual water with rags or a wet-dry vacuum.

8. Wipe with clean rags and remove any mineral deposits. Do not use harsh chemicals.

9. Refill the Reservoir and replace the Media.

1. The Media must be dry before removing. If wet, run the Fan without the Cooling Pump until dry.

2. Turn off and unplug the Cool Boss.

3. Remove and retain the fasteners securing the Media Holder Splash Guard, then remove the guard.

4. Remove the center Media first by pulling the top of the Media away from the unit.

5. Remove the remaining Media in the same manner.

6. Rinse the Media under running water and use a soft brush or rag to gently remove accumulated dirt. Do not use high-pressure water or air to clean the Media.

7. Dry the Media thoroughly before attempting to reinstall.

8. Put the Media back in place, installing the bottom first and then the top.

1. Plug the cord into a properly grounded wall outlet. The power indicator will illuminate if power is present.

2. Press the small Test button. The Power Indicator should go out, and the red trip indicator should light. No power should be available at the unit.

3. Press the Reset Button. The Power Indicator should illuminate, and the unit should be ready to operate.

4. If the GFCI does not function, take the unit out of service. Do not use the unit if the GFCI fails this test.

1. Drain the Reservoir and wipe clean and dry.

2. Secure the electrical cord.

3. Cover the Cool Boss to prevent dust build-up and store in a dry, protected area.

If the control panel is inoperative, it could be due to no power, an open circuit breaker, or a panel component failure.

• Verify the facility power supply.

• Reset the circuit breaker.

• Replace the panel.

If the unit is not working, it may be due to a lack of power.

• Cycle the unit power on-off.

• Verify the facility power supply.

This could be because the fan is stuck, broken, or there is a brown-out or low voltage.

• Check for blockage and remove it.

• Repair the fan.

• Evaluate and correct the voltage supply issue.

If the motor is not working, the Control Panel may not be working or there may be a motor failure.

• Replace the Control Panel.

• Replace the motor.

Drain leaks can be caused by a drain plug that is not tight, is cross-threaded, or has a missing O-Ring.

• Tighten the Drain Plug.

• Replace the Plug if the thread is ruined.

• Replace the O-Ring.

This may be caused by water tubing that is disconnected or leaking. You should check the internal water connections and tubing.

The remote may not function if the battery is depleted, something is obstructing the receiver, or it is out of range.

• Replace both batteries (AAA 1.5 V).

• Clear the obstruction.

• The remote must be within 32 ft. / 10 m and have a direct line-of-sight to the Control Panel.

This could be due to a damaged cable or connector(s).

• Replace the cable.

• Check for debris in the connector.

• Check for bent or broken pins on the connector(s).

Connection issues can have several causes:

• **Audio system not set to Bluetooth**: Make sure the Audio System is set to BT mode. BT should be illuminated on the audio panel.

• **Device not paired**: Verify your smart device is paired with the Audio System and Bluetooth function is active. Perform the pairing procedure again.

• **Out of range**: Place your Bluetooth device closer to the Cool Boss.

• **Wireless interference**: Move your Bluetooth device and the Cool Boss away from other wireless sources.

• **Device needs reset**: Turn the Cool Boss Audio System off and then on again.

• **Incorrect device connected**: If you have multiple Bluetooth devices, verify you are connected to the correct one.

• **Signal congestion**: In heavy Wi-Fi traffic areas, the frequency spectrum may be too congested.

• **Interference from phones**: Move or replace any 4 GHz cordless phones nearby.
