If your handset displays “Out of range” or “No pwr at base”, try the following:
• Ensure the telephone base is powered on.
• Place the handset in the telephone base for one minute to allow the handset and base to synchronize.
• Move the handset closer to the telephone base.
• Reset the telephone by unplugging the base’s power, waiting 15 seconds, and plugging it back in.
Why does the VTECH CS6649 answering system not record any messages?
If the built-in answering system is not recording messages, check the following:
• Make sure the answering system is on.
• The answering system memory may be full. When the memory is full, the system announces, “Memory is full.” Delete some messages to make space.
• If you subscribe to a voicemail service, it may be answering calls before your built-in answering system. To use your built-in system, you may need to change the number of rings setting or contact your service provider to adjust the voicemail settings.
Why don’t the remote access commands work for my VTECH CS6649?
If you are having trouble with remote access, please check these points:
• Make sure you are calling from a touch-tone phone. If you are calling from a rotary or pulse-dial phone, the answering system will not be able to recognize your commands.
• The answering system may not detect the remote access code while your announcement is playing. Try waiting until the announcement is over before entering the code.
• Make sure you are entering the correct two-digit remote access code.
