All packing materials such as tape, plastic sheets, packaging locks, removable tags, cable ties, cords and packaging screws are not part of this toy, and should be discarded for your child’s safety.

1. Turn the packaging locks counterclockwise several times.

2. Pull out and discard the packaging locks.

Adult assembly is required for battery installation. Follow these steps:

1. Make sure the unit is turned Off.

2. Find the battery cover located on the back of the unit. Use a screwdriver to loosen the screw and then open the battery cover.

3. Remove old batteries by pulling up on one end of each battery.

4. Install 3 new AA (AM-3/LR6) batteries following the diagram inside the battery box. For best performance, alkaline batteries or fully charged Ni-MH rechargeable batteries are recommended.

5. Replace the battery cover and tighten the screw to secure.

Standard Batteries:

• Insert batteries with the correct polarity (+ and -).

• Do not mix old and new batteries.

• Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc) or rechargeable batteries.

• Only batteries of the same or equivalent type as recommended are to be used.

• Do not short-circuit the supply terminals.

• Remove batteries during long periods of non-use.

• Remove exhausted batteries from the toy.

• Dispose of batteries safely. Do not dispose of batteries in fire.

Rechargeable Batteries:

• Remove rechargeable batteries (if removable) from the toy before charging.

• Rechargeable batteries are only to be charged under adult supervision.

• Do not charge non-rechargeable batteries.

To exit Try-Me Mode on the VTECH DORA MORE TO EXPLORE 5804, press and hold keys 1 and 6 for more than one second until you hear “Du Du” sounds. After exiting Try-Me Mode, press the On/Off Button to turn the unit On for normal play.

On/Off Button: Press to turn the unit On. Press again to turn the unit Off.

Five Activity Buttons: Press an Activity Button to enter a category to choose an activity.

10 Number Buttons: Press a Number Button to learn about numbers, counting and shapes.

26 Letter Buttons: Press the Letter Buttons to learn about letters and words.

Mouse: Move the Mouse left and right to choose and confirm selections.

Backpack Button: Press to enter the object quiz game.

Dora Button: Press to learn about cartoon characters and personalized information.

Map Button: Press to take an adventure on the map by answering questions.

Settings Button: Press to set the volume and LCD contrast level, and to customize the user’s name, age, favorite food, instrument and cartoon character.

Help Button: Press to repeat the current response or question.

Backlight On/Off Button: Press to turn the LCD backlight On or Off.

Background Music On/Off Button: Press to turn the background music On or Off.

To preserve battery life, the VTECH DORA MORE TO EXPLORE 5804 will shut off automatically after several minutes of no input. The unit can be turned On again by pressing the On/Off Button. The unit will also automatically turn Off when the batteries are very low.

The VTECH DORA MORE TO EXPLORE 5804 offers the following activities:

1. Learn With Dora: Introduces numbers, counting, letters and words. Press Letter Buttons for uppercase and lowercase letters and words. Press Number Buttons for numbers and counting.

2. Type With Dora: Practice typing words and expressions. Press Letter Buttons to type and press the Mouse to see currently typed letters.

3. Bridge Crossing: A quiz about uppercase and lowercase letters with two levels. Move the Mouse or press a Letter Button to choose the correct letter.

4. Missing Letter: A two-level quiz where you find the missing letter in a word. Use the Mouse or a Letter Button to select the correct letter.

5. Treasure Hunt: A quiz about shapes. Move the Mouse to choose and confirm an answer. Press Letter Buttons to hear letters and Number Buttons to hear numbers.

6. Hangry Fish River: A quiz about counting. Move the Mouse up or down to avoid obstacles. After the game, use the Mouse or a Number Button to answer a question about numbers.

7. Exploring Instruments: A quiz about instruments. Listen to an instrument sound and find it from several options using the Mouse.

8. Dance Party: Play music and change instruments. Use the Mouse to choose one of ten melodies. Move the Mouse up or down to add or remove instruments from the melody while a character dances.

9. Spanish Discovery: Get introduced to Spanish words, letters, and numbers. Press Letter and Number Buttons to hear them.

10. Spanish Words: A quiz about Spanish words. Hear a word and use the Mouse to choose the correct answer.

11. Map: Press the Map Button to answer quiz questions based on locations. Three of six possible locations (lake, bridge, mountain, beach, river, forest) appear randomly. Questions are drawn from other activities based on the location.

12. Backpack: Press the Backpack Button to answer questions about objects. Use the Mouse to choose and confirm the answer.

13. Meet Dora’s Friends: Press the Dora Button to meet characters and see personalized information. Use the Mouse to select a character to learn about.

Press the Settings Button, and then move the Mouse to choose and enter the customization activity. Here you can set the user’s name, age, favorite food, instrument and character. The customized information will be shown in the “Meet Dora’s Friends” activity (Activity 13).

1. Keep the unit clean by wiping it with a slightly damp cloth.

2. Keep the unit out of direct sunlight and away from any direct heat sources.

3. Remove the batteries if the unit will not be in use for an extended period of time.

4. Do not drop the unit on hard surfaces and do not expose the unit to moisture or water.

If for some reason the VTECH DORA MORE TO EXPLORE 5804 stops working or malfunctions, please follow these steps:

1. Turn the unit Off.

2. Interrupt the power supply by removing the batteries.

3. Let the unit stand for a few minutes, then replace the batteries.

4. Turn the unit On. The unit should now be ready to use again.

5. If the unit still does not work, install a new set of batteries.
