Your V-ZUG GK46TISC hob features several buttons and display elements for operation.

Buttons:

• Power button (circle with a vertical line): Device ON/OFF

• Slider (0 . . . . . . . . P): Used to set the power level.

• P button: Activates PowerPlus.

• Pause button (II): Pause cooking ON/OFF and restore function.

• Wipe protection button (hand wiping symbol): Wipe protection ON/OFF.

• Cooking zone selection button (8 symbol): Select the cooking zone.

• Timer/Operating time button (88 symbol): Set operating time/timer.

Displays:

1. Power level of the cooking zone.

2. Selection point: indicates which cooking zone is selected.

3. Operating time activated indicator.

4. Cooking zone indicator light for the operating time.

5. Operating time/timer display.

6. Pause activated/restoration of saved setting possible indicator.

7. Wipe protection activated indicator.

Switching the appliance on:

Depress the Power button for 1 second. ‘0’ will flash in all the power level displays. If no other entry is made, the appliance will switch off again after about 10 seconds for safety reasons.

Switching the appliance off:

Touch the Power button.

1. Press the cooking zone selection button (8 symbol) for the required cooking zone.

2. ‘0’ will flash in the corresponding power level display, and the selection point for that cooking zone will be illuminated.

3. Touch the slider or swipe it to set the desired power level.

Note: Settings for a cooking zone can only be changed when its corresponding selection point is illuminated. If the selection point goes out, you must select the cooking zone again.

The power levels on your V-ZUG GK46TISC are designed for various cooking methods:

1. Press the cooking zone selection button (8 symbol) of the required cooking zone. The selection point will illuminate.

2. Touch power level «0» on the slider.

If no other entry is made and the other cooking zones are switched off, the entire appliance will switch off after 10 seconds.

After a cooking zone is switched off, the letter ‘H’ remains illuminated in its display as long as there is a risk of burns from residual heat. Do not touch the cooking zone while ‘H’ is displayed.

Keep Warm Setting (L):

This setting keeps ready-cooked foods warm at approximately 65 °C. Select it by moving the slider to the ‘L’ position, located between power levels ‘0’ and ‘1’.

Melting Function:

This function gently melts items like butter, chocolate, or honey at 40 °C.

• To switch on: Select a cooking zone and hold power level ‘L’ on the slider for 2 seconds. Two horizontal bars (=) will illuminate in the display.

• To switch off: Use the slider to set any other power level.

Simmer Function:

This function cooks food like sausages or dumplings below boiling point at about 94 °C.

• To switch on: Select a cooking zone and press the level ‘L’ on the slider for 4 seconds. Three cross pieces will illuminate in the display.

• To switch off: Set any other power level using the slider.

The PowerPlus booster provides extra high power for 10 minutes, ideal for heating large quantities of water quickly.

Switching PowerPlus on:

1. Press the cooking zone selection button (8 symbol) for the required cooking zone.

2. Touch the slider at ‘P’ twice.

3. ‘P’ is illuminated in the display. After 10 minutes, it automatically reverts to power level 9.

Ending PowerPlus before 10 minutes:

1. Press the cooking zone selection button (8 symbol).

2. Touch the required power level on the slider.

Note: If the cookware is removed, PowerPlus is interrupted but will continue as soon as the cookware is placed back on the zone.

PowerPlus cannot be used on both cooking zones of a group (Group A: front-left and rear-left, Group B: front-right and rear-right) at the same time. If PowerPlus is activated for a second cooking zone in the same group, the power of the first cooking zone will be reduced automatically. The maximum available power levels are shown below.

With Automatic Boost, a cooking zone works at power level 9 for a specific time and then automatically switches back to a lower power level that you pre-selected. Do not leave the hob unattended when using this function due to the risk of boiling over.

Switching Automatic Boost on:

1. Press the cooking zone selection button (8 symbol).

2. Press and hold the required power level on the slider for 3 seconds.

3. As long as the boost is active, ‘A’ and the selected power level will illuminate alternately in the display.

4. After the boost time ends, the heat output reduces to the selected power level.

Switching Automatic Boost off before time:

1. Press the cooking zone selection button (8 symbol).

2. Set a lower power level using the slider.

The duration of the boost at level 9 depends on the final power level selected:

The operating time function switches a cooking zone off automatically after a set time from 1-99 minutes.

Setting the operating time:

1. Set the required cooking zone and power level.

2. Press the cooking zone selection button (8 symbol) for that zone.

3. Press the timer button (88 symbol). ’00’ appears and the second digit flashes.

4. Set the second digit (minutes) using the slider.

5. Press the timer button again. The first digit flashes.

6. Set the first digit (tens of minutes) using the slider.

7. Press the timer button again to start the countdown.

Changing the operating time:

1. Press the cooking zone selection button (8 symbol). The remaining time is displayed.

2. Press the timer button (88 symbol).

3. Change the second digit using the slider.

4. Press the timer button again.

5. Change the first digit using the slider.

6. Press the timer button again to start the new countdown.

Switching the operating time off before time:

Follow the steps for changing the operating time, but set both digits to ‘0’. The cooking zone remains in operation.

The timer functions like an egg timer for 1–99 minutes and can only be set when at least one cooking zone is in operation. It does not switch off a cooking zone.

Setting the timer:

1. Switch on the appliance.

2. Press the timer button (88 symbol). ’00’ appears and the second digit flashes.

3. Set the second digit of the timer using the slider.

4. Press the timer button again. The first digit flashes.

5. Set the first digit of the timer using the slider.

6. Press the timer button again. The timer starts.

Changing the timer:

1. Press the timer button (88 symbol) to display the remaining time.

2. Follow steps 3-6 above to set a new time.

Switching the timer off before time:

• If no cooking zone is in operation: Turn the appliance on and off again.

• If a cooking zone is in operation: Press the timer button (88 symbol) and set both digits to ‘0’ using the slider.

The childproof lock prevents the hob from being accidentally switched on.

Switching the childproof lock on:

1. Switch the appliance on. Ensure all cooking zones are switched off.

2. Touch the Pause (II) and Wipe Protection (hand symbol) buttons at the same time. An acoustic signal is emitted.

3. Touch the Pause (II) button again. An acoustic signal is emitted.

4. The childproof lock is now switched on. A lock symbol illuminates in all power level displays for 10 seconds.

Operating the appliance with the childproof lock activated:

1. Switch the appliance on.

2. Touch the Pause (II) and Wipe Protection (hand symbol) buttons at the same time. An acoustic signal sounds.

3. The childproof lock is temporarily overridden. The appliance can now be used as normal.

4. The lock is automatically reactivated after switching off the hob.

Switching the childproof lock off permanently:

1. Switch on the appliance. No cooking zone must be in operation.

2. Touch the Pause (II) and Wipe Protection (hand symbol) buttons at the same time. An acoustic signal sounds.

3. Press the Wipe Protection (hand symbol) button again.

4. A double acoustic signal is emitted, and ‘0’ flashes in all power level displays for 10 seconds. The lock is now off.

Restore Function:

If the appliance was switched off accidentally with the Power button, the settings can be restored within 6 seconds.

1. Switch the appliance on.

2. The illuminated point for the Pause (II) button flashes.

3. Press the Pause (II) button to restore the previous settings.

Pause Cooking:

This function temporarily reduces the power level of all active cooking zones to ‘1’ for up to 10 minutes.

1. Press the Pause (II) button. The indicator light illuminates, power levels change to ‘1’, operating time is interrupted (timer continues), and most buttons become inactive.

2. Press the Pause (II) button again to resume cooking with the previous settings.

If not resumed within 10 minutes, the appliance switches off completely.

Wipe Protection:

This function prevents settings from being changed accidentally while wiping the control panel.

1. Press the Wipe Protection (hand symbol) button. The indicator light for the button illuminates.

2. The controls are locked. Wipe protection switches off automatically after 30 seconds or by pressing the button again.

You can press the main Power button to switch the appliance off at any time.

Only cookware with a full, magnetisable base is suitable for use with your induction hob.

How to check for suitable cookware:

• A magnet sticks anywhere on the base of the cookware.

• When placed on the hob, the power level you set illuminates and does not alternate with the pan detection symbol (U).

For energy-efficient cooking:

• The base of the cookware must be clean, dry, and smooth.

• Centre the cookware in the middle of the cooking zone.

• Use a well-fitting lid.

• Match the diameter of the cookware to the quantity of food being cooked.

Coated Cookware:

• Never heat empty coated cookware at a power level higher than 7, as the coating can become overheated and damaged.

• For frying, do not use a power level higher than 9.

• Never use PowerPlus with coated frying pans.

Clean the hob after every use to prevent food residues from burning on. It is preferable to clean the appliance when it is cold to avoid burns.

• For everyday dirt: Use a soft cloth or sponge with water and a suitable cleaning agent. Follow the manufacturer’s advice for the cleaning agent.

• For encrusted dirt (e.g., boiled-over milk): Use a glass ceramic hob scraper while the hob is still warm. Follow the scraper manufacturer’s advice.

• For sugary foods (e.g., marmalade): Remove immediately with a glass ceramic hob scraper while the hob is still warm to prevent damage to the surface.

• For melted plastic: Remove immediately with a glass ceramic hob scraper while the hob is still warm to prevent damage.

• For limescale stains: Use a small amount of lime-dissolving solution, like vinegar or lemon juice, when the hob has cooled down. Then clean again with a damp cloth.

Important: Do not use scouring cleaning agents, all-purpose scouring pads, or steel wool, as these can damage the surface.

To keep your appliance in good condition and avoid damage, please follow these guidelines:

• Do not put hot cookware on the frame to avoid damaging the silicon grouting.

• Do not cut or prepare food directly on the glass surface.

• Avoid dropping hard objects onto the surface.

• Do not drag cookware across the surface; lift it to move it.

• Clean up sugary foods or juices from hot cooking zones immediately with a glass ceramic hob scraper (while the hob is still hot) to prevent surface damage.

• Do not use pots with pure copper or aluminium bases, as they can leave traces that are difficult to clean and may become permanent.

• In case of thermal failure, switch the solid plate off and allow it to cool down completely. Do not put any dishes on it or cool it with cold water.

• Do not climb onto the appliance.

If the appliance shows no signs of power, check the following:

• Possible Cause: The fuse or circuit breaker for your home’s electrical installation is defective.

• Solution: Change the fuse or reset the circuit breaker.

• Possible Cause: The fuse or circuit breaker keeps blowing.

• Solution: Call Customer Services.

• Possible Cause: An interruption in the power supply.

• Solution: Check the power supply to your home.

This indicates an issue with pan detection. Check the following:

• Possible Cause: The cookware is not suitable for use with induction hobs.

• Solution: Use suitable magnetic cookware. A magnet should stick to the base of the pan.

• Possible Cause: The cookware is too small for the cooking zone selected.

• Solution: Ensure the cookware corresponds to the size of the cooking zone.

• Possible Cause: The childproof lock is activated.

• Solution: To operate the appliance, you must first temporarily override the lock. To disable it permanently, follow the instructions to switch the childproof lock off.

This indicates an issue with the control panel.

• Possible Causes:

– A button or a slider was touched for longer than 10 seconds.

– An object (e.g., pan, dish) is on the control panel.

– Food has boiled over onto the control panel.

• Solution: Remove the object or clean the food that has boiled over from the control panel. The appliance can then be used again as normal.

• Possible Cause: The automatic safety shut-off was triggered. If a cooking zone has been running for a long time without any settings being changed, it switches off automatically for safety.

• Solution: Switch the cooking zone back on again if required.

The time until shut-off depends on the power level set:

• Possible Cause: The excess temperature protection of a cooking zone was triggered.

• Solution:

– Allow the cooking zone to cool down.

– Continue cooking on a different cooking zone.

– Check cookware to ensure it is suitable and not empty.

• Possible Cause: There was an interruption in the power supply.

• Solution:

– Press any button to quit the error message.

– The appliance can be used again as normal.

This indicates an issue with ventilation.

• Possible Cause: An object (e.g., paper) underneath the hob is affecting the air intake.

• Solution:

– Remove any objects in the drawer underneath the hob.

– Press any button to cancel the error message.

– After 10 minutes the appliance can be used again as normal.

• Possible Cause: Ventilation is defective.

• Solution:

– Note down the error number.

– Note down the serial number (FN) of the appliance from the identification plate.

– Call Customer Services.

• Possible Cause: An internal error has occurred.

• Solution:

– Note down the error number.
