General Safety:

• Read the operating instructions before using the appliance for the first time.

• This appliance can be used by children aged 8 and above and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and/or knowledge, provided they are supervised or have been instructed on the safe use of the appliance and have understood the hazards involved.

• Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be undertaken by children without supervision.

• If the mains cable of this appliance is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or its Customer Services or a similarly qualified person in order to avoid hazard.

Appliance-Specific Safety:

• WARNING: If the surface is cracked or there is damage to the material thickness, the appliance must be switched off and disconnected from the electricity supply in order to avoid a possible electric shock.

• WARNING: During use, the appliance and its exposed parts become hot. Please be careful to avoid the exposed parts of the heating elements.

• Never use a steam cleaner.

• Objects made of metal, e.g. knives, forks, spoons, covers or aluminium foil, should not be put on the hob as they can become hot.

• WARNING: Leaving fat or oil unattended on the hob can be dangerous and can lead to fires. NEVER try to extinguish a fire with water. Instead, switch the appliance off and then carefully cover the flames with an object such as a cover or a fire blanket.

• WARNING: Never leave objects on the hob as they pose a fire hazard.

• The appliance must not be operated with an external time switch or a separate remote control system.

Caution: Risk of burns!

• Overheated fat and oil can easily catch fire. Never attempt to extinguish burning oil or fat with water. Danger of explosion! Smother the flames with a fire blanket. Keep doors and windows closed.

Caution: Risk of injury!

• Keep pets away from the device.

Caution: Risk to life!

• Packaging materials, e.g. plastic film and polystyrene, can be dangerous for children. Danger of suffocation! Keep packaging material away from children.

To prevent damage to your V-ZUG GK46TIXS.1F, follow these guidelines:

• In the case of thermal failure, switch the solid plate off and allow it to cool down completely. Do not put any dishes on it. Do not cool with cold water under any circumstances.

• Do not climb onto the appliance.

• To avoid damaging the silicon grouting, do not put hot cookware on the frame.

• Do not cut or prepare food on the surface or drop hard objects onto it. Do not drag cookware across the surface.

• Make sure that no sugary foods or juices end up on the hot cooking zones. If they do, remove them immediately with a glass ceramic hob scraper while the hob is still hot, as they can damage the surface.

• Do not leave the appliance unattended during operation.

• Pots with pure copper or aluminium bases should not be used for cooking as they leave behind traces that can be difficult to clean. If not removed immediately with a suitable cleaning agent, they can be permanently burned on.

• Sliding pots and cookware across the glass ceramic causes scratches. Avoid this by lifting pots and cookware when placing them.

• Signs of usage such as scratches or visible material abrasion are normal with daily use. The appliance continues to function perfectly and safety is always guaranteed.

The appliance must be installed and connected to the electricity supply in accordance with the separate installation instructions by a qualified fitter/electrician.

During the first few hours of use, a cooking zone can give off an unpleasant smell. This is normal for new appliances. Ensure the room is well ventilated.

The identification plate and the connection plate are located on the underside of the hob. A second identification plate is supplied and should be affixed in the fitted unit underneath the hob for easy access.

The buttons and displays on your V-ZUG GK46TIXS.1F control its functions as follows:

Every cooking zone on your V-ZUG GK46TIXS.1F is equipped with pan detection. It recognizes cookware with a magnetisable base suitable for induction hobs.

• If cookware is removed during operation or unsuitable cookware is used, the selected power level flashes alternately with the ‘U’ symbol.

• If no cookware is placed on the cooking zone within 10 minutes, the cooking zone switches off automatically, and the display changes from ‘U’ to ‘0’.

• The appliance will switch off after 10 seconds if no other cooking zone is active.

Only cookware with a full magnetic base is suitable for use with the induction hob.

You can check for suitability in the following ways:

• A magnet sticks anywhere on the base of the cookware.

• On the hob, the power level set illuminates and the ‘U’ symbol does not alternate with the power level.

Energy-efficient cooking tips:

• The base of the cookware must be clean, dry and smooth.

• Centre the cookware in the middle of the cooking zone.

• Use a well-fitting lid.

• Match the diameter of the cookware to the quantity of food to be cooked.

Coated cookware:

• Coated cookware, when empty, may never be heated at a power level higher than 7, as the coating may become overheated and damaged.

• For frying, do not use a power level higher than 9.

• Never use PowerPlus with coated frying pans.

Noise during cooking:

• Cookware can make noise during cooking, which is normal and does not affect the appliance’s function. The noise depends on the cookware used. If the noise is a disturbance, changing the cookware may help.

To switch the appliance on:

• Depress the On/Off button for 1 second. ‘0’ flashes in all the power level displays. If no other entry is made, the appliance switches off again after about 10 seconds for safety.

To switch the appliance off:

• Touch the On/Off button.

1. Press the ‘8’ button of the required cooking zone.

– ‘0’ flashes in the corresponding display for the power level.

– The selection point for this cooking zone is illuminated.

2. Touch the slider or swipe it to set the desired power level.

Note: Settings for a cooking zone can only be changed when its selection point is illuminated. If it goes out, you must select the cooking zone again.

1. Press the ‘8’ button of the required cooking zone to select it.

2. Touch power level ‘0’ on the slider.

If no other entry is made and the other cooking zones are switched off, the entire appliance will switch off after 10 seconds.

Keep Warm Setting (L):

The keep warm setting ‘L’ keeps ready-cooked foods warm at approximately 65 °C. It can be found between power levels ‘0’ and ‘1’ on the slider.

Melting Function:

This function gently melts items like butter, chocolate, or honey at 40 °C.

• To switch on: Select a cooking zone and hold power level ‘L’ on the slider for 2 seconds. Two horizontal bars (=) will illuminate in the power level display.

• To switch off: Use the slider to set any other power level.

Simmer Function:

This function cooks food like sausages or dumplings below boiling point, at about 94 °C.

• To switch on: Select a cooking zone and press the level ‘L’ on the slider for 4 seconds. Three cross pieces illuminate in the power level display.

• To switch off: Set any power level using the slider.

All cooking zones are equipped with a PowerPlus booster (‘P’). When activated, the cooking zone works at extra high power for 10 minutes, ideal for heating large quantities of water quickly. After 10 minutes, it automatically reverts to power level 9.

To switch PowerPlus on:

1. Press the ‘8’ button of the required cooking zone.

2. Touch the slider at the ‘P’ position (touch twice if starting from a lower level).

– ‘P’ is illuminated in the display.

If cookware is removed, PowerPlus is interrupted and will continue once the cookware is placed back on the zone.

To end PowerPlus before 10 minutes:

1. Press the ‘8’ button of the required cooking zone.

2. Touch the required power level on the slider.

PowerPlus cannot be used for both cooking zones of a group (A or B) at the same time. If PowerPlus is activated for both cooking zones of a group, the power of the cooking zone that was initially set reduces. If the power level is raised above the specified values, PowerPlus switches off.

PowerPlus in Group B (Cooking zones 3 and 4)

With automatic boost, a cooking zone works at power level 9 for a certain time before automatically switching back to the pre-selected power level. Do not leave the hob unattended when using this function.

Switching the automatic boost on:

1. Press the ‘8’ button of the required cooking zone.

2. Press the required power level on the slider for 3 seconds.

– As long as the boost is active, ‘A’ and the selected power level will illuminate alternately in the display.

– After the boost time ends, the heat output reduces to the selected power level.

Boost Time Table:

If a higher power level is selected during the boost, the duration will change automatically.

Switching the automatic boost off before time:

1. Press the ‘8’ button of the required cooking zone.

2. Set a lower power level using the slider.

The operating time function switches a cooking zone off automatically after a set time (1-99 min).

Setting the operating time:

1. Set the required cooking zone and power level.

2. Press the ‘8’ button of the cooking zone again.

3. Press the ’88’ button. ’00’ appears and the second digit flashes.

4. Set the second digit (minutes) using the slider.

5. Press the ’88’ button again. The first digit flashes.

6. Set the first digit (tens of minutes) using the slider.

7. Press the ’88’ button to start the operating time.

Changing the operating time:

1. Press the ‘8’ button of the required cooking zone.

2. Press the ’88’ button.

3. Change the second digit using the slider.

4. Press the ’88’ button.

5. Change the first digit using the slider.

6. Press the ’88’ button to start the new time.

Switching the operating time off before time:

1. Select the cooking zone.

2. Press the ’88’ button.

3. Set the second digit to ‘0’ using the slider.

4. Press the ’88’ button.

5. Set the first digit to ‘0’ using the slider.

6. Press the ’88’ button. The cooking zone remains in operation.

At the end of the operating time, the zone switches off, an acoustic signal sounds, and ’00’ flashes. Press any button to stop the signal.

The timer functions like an egg timer (1–99 min) and can only be set when a cooking zone is in operation. It does not switch a cooking zone off.

Setting the timer:

1. Switch on the appliance.

2. Press the ’88’ button. ’00’ appears and the second digit flashes.

3. Set the second digit using the slider.

4. Press the ’88’ button. The first digit flashes.

5. Set the first digit using the slider.

6. Press the ’88’ button. The timer starts.

Changing the timer:

Follow the same steps as setting the timer. The remaining duration will be displayed initially.

Switching the timer off before time:

• If no cooking zone is in operation: Turn the appliance on and off again.

• If a cooking zone is in operation: Press the ’88’ button and set both digits to ‘0’ one after another using the slider.

The childproof lock prevents the appliance from being accidentally switched on.

Switching the childproof lock on:

1. Switch the appliance on. Ensure all cooking zones are switched off.

2. Touch the ‘||’ and ‘Hand’ buttons at the same time. An acoustic signal is emitted.

3. Touch the ‘||’ button again. An acoustic signal is emitted.

4. The childproof lock is now on. A lock symbol illuminates in all power level displays for 10 seconds.

Operating the appliance with the childproof lock activated (temporary override):

1. Switch the appliance on.

2. Touch the ‘||’ and ‘Hand’ buttons at the same time. An acoustic signal is emitted.

3. The lock is overridden. The appliance can now be used as normal. The lock will reactivate automatically after switching off the hob.

Switching the childproof lock off permanently:

1. Switch on the appliance. No cooking zone must be in operation.

2. Touch the ‘||’ and ‘Hand’ buttons at the same time. An acoustic signal is emitted.

3. Press the ‘Hand’ button again. A double acoustic signal is emitted.

4. On all power level displays, ‘0’ flashes for 10 seconds. The childproof lock is now switched off.

Restore function:

If the appliance was switched off accidentally with the On/Off button, the settings can be restored within 6 seconds.

1. Switch the appliance back on within 6 seconds.

2. The illuminated point for the ‘||’ button flashes.

3. Press the ‘||’ button to restore the previous settings.

Pause cooking function:

This function temporarily reduces the power level of all active cooking zones to ‘1’ for up to 10 minutes.

• To activate: Press the ‘||’ button. The indicator light illuminates, power levels change to ‘1’, and the operating time is paused. All buttons except On/Off, ‘||’, and ‘Hand’ are inactive.

• To deactivate: Press the ‘||’ button again to resume cooking with the previous settings.

If the pause function is not turned off within 10 minutes, the appliance switches off completely.

This function prevents the power level from being changed accidentally, for instance when wiping the control panel with a cloth.

• Press the ‘Hand’ button to activate. The indicator light for the button illuminates.

• Wipe protection is switched off by pressing the ‘Hand’ button again or automatically after 30 seconds.

• You can press the On/Off button to switch the appliance off at any time.

Clean the hob after every use to prevent food residues from burning on. Always wait for the hob to cool down to avoid burns.

• Do not use scouring cleaning agents, all-purpose scouring pads, or steel wool, as this can damage the surface.

• For everyday dirt, use a soft cloth or sponge with water and a suitable cleaning agent. Follow the manufacturer’s advice. We recommend using protective cleaning agents.

• Remove encrusted dirt (e.g., from boiled-over milk) with a glass ceramic hob scraper while the hob is still warm.

• Remove sugary foods (e.g., marmalade) with a glass ceramic hob scraper while the hob is still warm to prevent damage to the surface.

• Remove melted plastic with a glass ceramic hob scraper while the hob is still warm.

• Remove limescale stains with a small amount of lime-dissolving solution (e.g., vinegar or lemon juice) when the hob has cooled down. Then clean again with a damp cloth.

This indicates that the childproof lock is activated. To operate the appliance, you need to either temporarily override the lock or switch it off completely. Refer to the “Childproof lock” section for instructions.

This happens when a button or slider was touched for longer than 10 seconds, or an object (like a pan or dish) or boiled-over food was on the control panel. Remove the object or clean the spill. The appliance can then be used again as normal.

This means the automatic safety shut-off was triggered. A cooking zone will automatically switch off if it has been running for a long time without any settings being changed. The time depends on the power level set. You can switch the cooking zone back on again if required.

The safety shut-off times are as follows:

This indicates that the excess temperature protection of a cooking zone was triggered.

• Allow the cooking zone to cool down.

• Continue cooking on a different cooking zone.

• Check your cookware for suitability.

These codes indicate an error.

• ‘U0’ flashes: This indicates an interruption in the power supply. Press any button to quit the error message. The appliance can be used again as normal.

• ‘E’ and ‘8’ are illuminated: An object (e.g., paper) underneath the hob is affecting the air intake, or the ventilation is defective. Remove any objects from the drawer underneath the hob and press any button to cancel the message. If the error persists, note the error number and serial number (FN) from the identification plate and call Customer Services.

• ‘Er’ or ‘E’ and another number illuminate: This indicates an internal error. Note down the error number and the serial number (FN) from the identification plate and call Customer Services.
