The TP-LINK HS300 Kasa Smart Wi-Fi Power Strip comes with several features for smart home control:

6 Smart Outlets: Independently control 6 smart outlets from your smartphone with the Kasa Smart app.

Surge Protection: ETL certified surge protection shields electronics from power surges and overloading.

3 USB Ports: Charge your tablet, smartphone, or other devices using the always-on USB ports.

Energy Monitoring: Monitor the energy consumption of devices plugged into your smart power strip.

No Hub Required: Connects directly to your existing Wi-Fi router.

Scheduling: Set a schedule to automatically turn devices on and off.

Voice Control: Use Alexa, Google Assistant, or Microsoft Cortana to control your devices with voice commands.

Works with IFTTT: Have your smart power strip work together with other devices through support from IFTTT.

Note: Do NOT plug the TP-LINK HS300 into a 220V outlet.

The supported load types for the TP-LINK HS300 are:

125V~, 15A max General/Resistive Load; 1/6HP, Motor Load

Construction of Switch: Micro-gap Switch(µ)

The TP-LINK HS300 has several indicators and controls:

1. SYS Wi-Fi LED: Shows the Wi-Fi connection status.

– Orange: Rebooting.

– Blinking Orange and Green: Setup mode initiated.

– Blinking Green: Searching for Wi-Fi.

– White: Connected to Wi-Fi network successfully.

– Blinking Orange: Resetting.

– Red: No Wi-Fi connection.

2. Grounded LED: Lights up when the power strip is grounded normally.

3. Protected LED: Lights up when the power strip is under surge protection.

4. Smart Outlet (1-6 from left to right): Plug in your device and control it from your smartphone. Each outlet is independent.

5. LED of Smart Outlet (1-6 from left to right): Lights up when the corresponding smart outlet is on.

6. Control Button (1-6 from left to right):

– Press the control button to turn on or off the corresponding outlet.

– Press and hold a control button for 5 seconds to re-enable setup mode.

– Press and hold a control button for 10 seconds to restore your Smart Power Strip to factory default settings.

7. USB Port: Charge your tablet, smartphone or other devices. Output: 5V/2.4A each; 5V/4.0A total.

8. Overcurrent Protection Switch:

– Turn on or off your Smart Power Strip manually.

– Your Smart Power Strip turns off automatically when it’s overloaded with electricity. To reconnect it to power, please turn it on manually.

Place your TP-LINK HS300 power strip within the Wi-Fi range of your home network. Generally, the power strip can be placed on a horizontal surface, such as a shelf or desktop. The device can also be mounted on the wall. For wall mounting, use screws with the following dimensions: 4mm < D ≤ 6mm and H < 2.5mm.

Follow these steps to set up your TP-LINK HS300 using the Kasa Smart app:

Step 1. Download and install the Kasa app: Go to Google Play or the App Store to download the Kasa app on your Android or iOS smartphone or tablet.

Step 2. Log in or sign up with a TP-Link ID: Open the app. Use your TP-Link ID to log in. If you don’t have one, tap “Create Account” and the Kasa app will guide you through the process.

Step 3. Add Device: Tap the ‘+’ button in the Kasa app, select “Smart Power Strip” and then follow the step-by-step app instructions to complete the setup.

After successfully setting up your TP-LINK HS300, you will see the home page of the Kasa Smart app. From here, you can view and manage all your Kasa devices.

To turn an outlet on or off quickly, tap the switch next to the outlet’s name on the Home page. To see more options and check the status of a specific outlet, tap on the outlet’s name. This will take you to its control page where you can turn it on or off and access other features like Schedule, Timer, Away Mode, and Energy monitoring.

You can set schedules to automatically turn outlets on or off according to your daily routine. Follow these steps:

Step 1. On the Kasa app’s Home page, tap the smart outlet for which you want to set a schedule.

Step 2. Tap “Schedule” at the bottom of the screen.

Step 3. Tap the ‘+’ icon in the top right corner.

Step 4. Set the schedule. Choose whether to turn the outlet On or Off, set the desired time, and select the days of the week for the schedule to repeat.

Step 5. You can also choose to have the outlet turn on or off at Sunrise or Sunset, which is based on your location.

Step 6. Tap “Save”. Your new schedule will appear in the Schedule list. You can add more schedules by following the same steps.

You can toggle any schedule on or off from the Schedule page at any time.

The Timer function allows you to set a countdown to automatically turn a smart outlet on or off after the time ends.

Step 1. On the Kasa app’s Home page, tap the smart outlet you want to set a timer for.

Step 2. Tap “Timer” at the bottom of the screen.

Step 3. Set the duration (hours and minutes) after which the smart outlet should automatically turn on or off.

Step 4. Tap “START”. The timer will begin counting down. You can tap “Stop” at any time to cancel the timer.

Away Mode turns a smart outlet on and off automatically at random intervals to give the appearance that someone is home.

Step 1. On the Kasa app’s Home page, tap the smart outlet you want to set to Away Mode.

Step 2. Tap “Away” at the bottom of the screen.

Step 3. Set the start and end time during which the outlet will be randomly turned on and off. The start and end time must be on the same day.

Step 4. Choose the repeating frequency by selecting the days of the week.

Step 5. Tap “START” to activate Away Mode. You can tap “STOP” to deactivate it.

You can monitor how much energy each outlet has used and how long it has been working.

Step 1. On the Kasa app’s Home page, tap the smart outlet whose energy you want to check.

Step 2. Tap “Energy” at the bottom of the screen.

Step 3. On the Energy Usage screen, you can see the Current Power, and Total Consumption for today, the past 7 days, and the past 30 days.

Step 4. Swipe left to see the Runtime screen. Here you can check the Current Runtime and Total Runtime for today, the past 7 days, and the past 30 days.

You can customize various settings for your TP-LINK HS300 outlets.

Step 1. Tap any outlet of your smart power strip and then tap the settings icon (gear) in the top right corner.

Step 2. On the Device Settings page, you can perform the following actions:

– Change Name and Icon: Tap on an individual plug (e.g., Plug1-Water Pot) to edit its name and choose a different icon to represent the connected device.

– Re-Order Outlets: Tap “Re-Order” to change the order in which the six outlets appear in the app. Drag and drop the devices into your preferred order.

– Toggle Status LED: Toggle the “Status LED” switch to turn the indicator LEDs of all six smart outlets on or off altogether.

TP-Link provides three methods to reset your TP-LINK HS300 Smart Power Strip.

Method 1: From the Kasa App Home Page

Swipe left on any of the outlets of your Smart Power Strip in the device list and tap “Delete”. Then tap “Remove Device”. This will remove the power strip from your Kasa account and restore it to factory settings.

Method 2: From the Device Settings Page

Tap any of the outlets of your Smart Power Strip, go to the Device Settings page (gear icon), scroll to the bottom, and tap “Remove Device”. This will also remove it from your Kasa account and restore it to factory settings.

Method 3: Using the Physical Control Buttons

– Factory Reset: Press and hold any of the control buttons on the six smart outlets for 10 seconds to restore your Smart Power Strip to factory default settings.

– Re-enable Setup Mode: Press and hold any of the control buttons on the six smart outlets for 5 seconds to re-enable setup mode without losing your current settings.

With groups, you can control multiple outlets simultaneously.

To create a group:

Step 1. Tap the ‘+’ button on the Home page of the Kasa Smart app and select “Group”.

Step 2. Select the smart outlets from your TP-LINK HS300 that you want to add to the group and tap “Save”.

Step 3. Give the group a name (e.g., “Living Room Lights”) and tap “Save”.

To use a group:

The created group will be listed on the Home page. You can tap ON or OFF next to the group name to turn all the outlets in that group on or off together.

Once you have created a group, you can manage its settings.

Step 1. Tap the group you want to manage from the Kasa app’s Home page.

Step 2. From the group’s status page, you can turn the entire group on or off.

Step 3. Tap the settings icon (gear) in the top right corner to enter the Group Settings page.

Step 4. In Group Settings, you can:

– Tap “Group Name” to rename the group.

– Tap “Devices” to add or remove devices from the group. Check or uncheck devices and save your changes.

– Tap “Remove Group” to delete the group from your device list. All devices in the group will remain accessible individually on your device list.

A scene is a preset group of smart devices that can be programmed, customized, and activated simultaneously with a single tap.

To create a Scene:

Step 1. Tap the “Scenes” tab at the bottom of the Kasa app, then tap the ‘+’ at the top right corner.

Step 2. Choose a preset scene (like Good Morning, Good Night) or select “Custom” to create your own.

Step 3. Select the devices, including outlets on your TP-LINK HS300, that you want to be part of the scene. Set the desired status (On/Off) for each selected device. Tap “NEXT”.

Step 4. Pick an icon for your scene.

Step 5. Name your scene and tap “SAVE”.

To activate a Scene:

Your created scene will be displayed in the scene list under the “Scenes” tab. Just tap the scene to activate it.

If you have a Kasa Smart Camera, you can set an outlet on your TP-LINK HS300 to turn on when the camera senses motion.

Step 1. In the Kasa app, tap the “Smart Actions” tab, then “Add an Action”. Select “Motion Sensing”.

Step 2. Select your Kasa camera as the device that will detect motion.

Step 3. Select the outlet on your TP-LINK HS300 that you want to control. Choose if it should turn on or off.

Step 4. Set the time when this action should be active. You can choose “Always” or “Custom” to set a specific time range and days.

Step 5. (Optional) Set an auto-off timer. This will turn the outlet off automatically after a specified time has passed since it was triggered.

Step 6. Tap “COMPLETE”.

Step 7. Name your action for easy identification and tap “DONE”. The Smart Action is now created and active.

If you have a Kasa Smart Switch, you can link it to an outlet on your TP-LINK HS300 so they operate together.

Step 1. In the Kasa app, tap the “Smart Actions” tab, then “Add an Action”. Select “Control With a Switch”.

Step 2. Select your Kasa Smart Switch.

Step 3. Select the outlet (or a group of devices) on your TP-LINK HS300 that you want the switch to control.

Step 4. Tap “COMPLETE”.

Step 5. Name your action for easy identification and tap “DONE”. Now, when you use the Kasa Smart Switch, the selected outlet on your power strip will also turn on or off.

This allows you to automatically activate a scene you have created at a scheduled time.

Step 1. In the Kasa app, tap the “Smart Actions” tab, then “Add an Action”. Select “Schedule a Scene”.

Step 2. Select a scene you have already created.

Step 3. Set the time and frequency (days of the week) at which you want your scene to be turned on.

Step 4. Tap “SAVE”.

Step 5. Name your action for easy identification and tap “DONE”. The scene will now activate automatically at the scheduled time.

This Smart Action will automatically turn off a specific outlet after it has been on for a designated amount of time.

Step 1. In the Kasa app, tap the “Smart Actions” tab, then “Add an Action”. Select “Auto-Off Timer”.

Step 2. Under “WHEN THIS DEVICE TURNS ON”, select the desired outlet on your TP-LINK HS300.

Step 3. Under “TURN IT OFF AFTER…”, set the time duration (e.g., 30 minutes).

Step 4. Tap “COMPLETE”.

Step 5. Name your action for easy identification and tap “DONE”. Now, whenever the selected outlet is turned on, it will automatically turn off after the time you set.

To control your TP-LINK HS300 with voice commands, connect it to Amazon Alexa.

Step 1. Launch the Kasa Smart app. Go to the sidebar and tap “Works with Kasa”.

Step 2. Tap “Amazon Alexa”.

Step 3. Tap “Connect”.

Step 4. Sign in with your Amazon account.

Step 5. After signing in, tap “LINK” to enable the TP-LINK Kasa skill and link your account with Alexa.

Step 6. Once your TP-Link ID has been successfully linked with your Amazon account, you can use Alexa voice commands to control your Smart Wi-Fi Power Strip.

You can connect your TP-LINK HS300 to Google Home for voice control.

Step 1. Launch the Kasa Smart app. Go to the sidebar and tap “Works with Kasa”.

Step 2. Tap “Google Assistant”.

Step 3. Follow the instructions within the app to connect your device to your Google Home.

Please follow these safety guidelines when operating the TP-LINK HS300:

– Keep the device away from water, fire, humidity or hot environments.

– Do not attempt to disassemble, repair, or modify the device.

– Do not use the device where wireless devices are not allowed.

– The socket-outlet shall be installed near the equipment and shall be easily accessible.

– Operating temperature: 0°C ~40°C (32°F ~104°F); Storage Temperature: -40°C~70°C (-40°F ~158°F).

– To reduce the risk of electric shock – Use only indoors.

– Risk of electric shock. Do not plug into another relocatable power tap or an extension cord.

– Use only in dry locations.

– Not intended to be mounted on a desk or similar furnishing surface.

– WARNING: Timer could turn on unexpectedly without the user being present. To reduce the hazardous condition – Unplug the appliance that is plugged into the receptacle(s) controlled by the timer before servicing.

– CAUTION: Do not install this device if there is not at least 10 meters (30 feet) or more of wire between the electrical outlet and the electrical service panel.
