To ensure safe operation of your LG LW2512ER, please adhere to the following precautions:

WARNING

• Do not place heavy objects on the power cord or allow it to be pressed.

• Do not share the outlet with other appliances to prevent heat generation that could lead to electric shock or fire.

• When unplugging, hold the head of the plug. Do not touch it with wet hands.

• Do not place the power cord near a heater.

• Do not allow water to run into electric parts.

• Unplug the unit if you hear strange sounds, smell strange odors, or see smoke.

• Do not open the suction inlet grill during operation.

• If water enters the product, turn off the main power switch and contact a service center after unplugging the unit.

• If liquid from the batteries gets on your skin or clothes, wash it well with clean water. Do not use the remote if the batteries have leaked.

Preparing for Operation

1. Contact an installation specialist for installation.

2. Plug in the power plug properly.

3. Use a dedicated circuit.

4. Do not use an extension cord.

5. Do not start/stop operation by plugging/unplugging the power cord.

6. If the cord/plug is damaged, replace it with only an authorized replacement part.

Usage Guidelines

1. Being exposed to direct airflow for an extended period could be hazardous to your health. Do not expose occupants, pets, or plants to direct airflow for extended periods.

2. Due to the possibility of oxygen deficiency, ventilate the room when the unit is used together with stoves or other heating devices.

3. Do not use this air conditioner for non-specified special purposes (e.g., preserving precision devices, food, pets, plants, and art objects), as such usage could damage the items.

Cleaning and Maintenance

1. Do not touch the metal parts of the unit when removing the filter. Injuries can occur when handling sharp metal edges.

2. Do not use water to clean inside the air conditioner. Exposure to water can destroy the insulation, leading to possible electric shock.

3. When cleaning the unit, first make sure that the power and breaker are turned off. The fan rotates at a very high speed during operation, and there is a possibility of injury if the unit’s power is accidentally triggered while cleaning inner parts.

The electrical requirements for your LG LW2512ER vary depending on the model voltage. Refer to the following table for the correct wall receptacle and power supply:

Important Notes:

• The power cord of this appliance is equipped with a three-prong (grounding) plug. Use this with a standard three-slot (grounding) wall power outlet to minimize the hazard of electric shock.

• Do not cut or remove the third (ground) prong from the power plug.

• Do not use an extension cord on 230, 208, and 230/208 Volt units. If you must use an extension cord, use a CSA certified/UL-listed 3-wire (grounding) extension cord, rated at 20A, 250V.

• All wiring should be made in accordance with local electrical codes and regulations. Consult a qualified electrician if you have questions.

The power cord on your LG LW2512ER may include a current interrupter device with a test and reset button on the plug case. You should test this device periodically.

1. Press the TEST button.

2. Then, press the RESET button.

If the TEST button does not trip, or if the RESET button will not stay engaged, discontinue use of the air conditioner and contact a qualified service technician.

WARNING: Never push the test button during operation, as this can damage the plug.

The LG LW2512ER is designed for installation in standard double-hung windows with the following specifications:

• Actual Opening Width: 29 inches to 41 inches.

• Clear Vertical Opening: A minimum of 19 inches from the bottom of the upper sash to the window stool.

All supporting parts of the window must be secured to firm wood, masonry, or metal.

General Installation Guidelines

1. To prevent vibration and noise, ensure the unit is installed securely and firmly.

2. Install the unit where sunlight does not shine directly on it.

3. Ensure there are no obstacles, like a fence or wall, within 20 inches from the back of the cabinet.

4. Install the unit with a slight downward slant to the outside (about 1/2″) to allow condensed water to flow out.

5. Install the unit with the bottom about 30 to 60 inches above the floor level.

Preparation of Chassis

1. Remove the shipping screws that fasten the cabinet on both sides and at the back.

2. Slide the unit out from the cabinet by gripping the base pan handle and pulling forward while bracing the cabinet.

3. Cut the window sash seal (Foam-Seal) to the proper length, peel off the backing, and attach it to the underside of the window sash.

4. Insert the Frame Guides into the bottom of the cabinet.

5. Insert the Frame Curtain into the Upper Guide and Frame Guides.

6. Fasten the curtains to the unit with 10 Type A screws.

Cabinet Installation

1. Open the window and mark a line on the center of the window stool. Loosely attach the sill bracket to the support bracket using the carriage bolt and lock nut.

2. Attach the sill bracket to the window sill using Type B screws. Carefully place the cabinet on the window stool, aligning the center mark on the bottom front with the center line on the stool.

3. Attach the support bracket to the cabinet track hole using the M-screw and lock nut. Tighten the carriage bolt and lock nut. Ensure the cabinet slants slightly outward.

4. Pull the bottom window sash down behind the Top retainer bar until they meet.

5. Pull each Frame curtain fully to each window sash track.

6. Attach each Frame curtain to the window sash using Type C screws.

7. Slide the unit back into the cabinet. For security, reinstall the Type A screws at the cabinet’s sides.

8. Cut the foam strip to the proper length and insert it between the upper and lower window sashes.

9. Attach the Window locking bracket with a Type C screw.

10. Attach the front grille to the cabinet by inserting the tabs on the grille into the tabs on the cabinet front. Push until it snaps into place.

11. Lift the inlet grille and secure it with a Type A screw through the front grille.

Installing the Power Cord

You can choose between two methods based on your window stool shape:

• Using slit “A”: Fasten the stopper using 2 screw holes, and lead the power cord out through slit “A”.

• Using slit “B”: Fasten the stopper using the left screw hole, and rotate it to lead the power cord out through slit “B”.

1. POWER: Press this button to start or stop the operation of the LG LW2512ER.

2. FAN SPEED SELECTOR: Select a higher fan speed for increased cooling power. The steps are High, Low, and Med.

3. ON/OFF TIMER: Set the timer to start and stop the unit in hourly increments, up to 24 hours. When the timer is set for sleeping comfort, the temperature setting will raise 2°F after 30 minutes, and again after another 30 minutes.

4. OPERATION MODE SELECTOR: Each press toggles between COOL, FAN, and DRY modes.

• Cool: The compressor runs to cool the room. Use the TEMP (∧/∨) and FAN buttons to set the desired temperature and fan speed.

• Energy Saver: The fan stops when the compressor stops cooling. Approximately every 3 minutes, the fan will turn on to check the room air to determine if cooling is needed.

• Fan: The fan circulates air, but the compressor does not run. Use the FAN button to set the desired fan speed.

• Dry: This mode removes humidity from the room without additional cooling. Once the set temperature is reached, the compressor and fan turn off. Fan speed is pre-set and cannot be adjusted.

5. TEMPERATURE CONTROL: The thermostat monitors room temperature and can be set between 60°F and 86°F (16°C – 30°C). It takes an average of 30 minutes to adjust the room temperature by 1°F.

6. REMOTE CONTROL SENSOR: This is the sensor on the main unit that receives signals from the remote.

AUTO RESTART: If there is a power failure, the unit will automatically restart with its previous settings once power is restored.

1. Push out the cover on the back of the remote control with your thumb.

2. Pay attention to polarity and insert two new AAA 1.5V batteries.

3. Reattach the cover.

NOTICE: Do not use rechargeable batteries. Ensure both batteries are new and do not mix alkaline, standard (Carbon-zinc), or rechargeable (Nickel-cadmium) batteries. To prevent discharge, remove the batteries if the air conditioner will not be used for an extended period.

To use the ventilation feature on your LG LW2512ER, follow these steps:

• For the best cooling conditions, the ventilation lever must be in the CLOSE position.

• When fresh air is necessary in the room, set the ventilation lever to the OPEN position. This opens the damper and allows room air to be drawn out.

Before using the ventilation feature: Position the lever by first pulling down part Ⓐ to be horizontal with part Ⓑ.

You can adjust the airflow direction to increase cooling efficiency.

• Adjusting Horizontal Air Flow Direction: Adjust the vertical louvers left and right to change the horizontal airflow.

• Adjusting Vertical Air Flow Direction: Adjust the horizontal vane up and down to change the vertical airflow. The vane can be adjusted by nudging it backward or forward.

For maximum cooling efficiency, it is recommended to adjust the louvers to face upwards when cooling.

In very humid weather, excessive condensate water may collect. To remove this excess water, you can install the optional drain pan.

1. Take the drain pan, which is located in the air discharge area.

2. Remove the hole rubber from the base-pan (for some models).

3. Install the drain pan to the right corner of the cabinet with 4 (or 2) screws.

4. Connect a drain hose of 3/5″ inside diameter to the outlet located at the bottom of the drain pan. You can purchase the drain hose or tubing locally. (Drain hose is not supplied).

The air filter behind the inlet grille should be cleaned at least once every 2 weeks to maintain optimal performance. Before cleaning, turn the power off and unplug the power cord.

1. The grille can be opened from the top for easy maintenance after installation.

2. Open the inlet grille by pulling off the exposed door on the top of the unit.

3. Pull the tab slightly to release the filter. Pull the filter in the same direction as the opening.

4. Clean the filter with warm, soapy water. The water should be below 40°C (104°F).

5. Rinse off and gently shake off excess water from the filter. Let it dry completely before replacing it.

The base pan of the LG LW2512ER may overflow due to high humidity. To drain the excess water, remove the drain cap from the back of the unit and secure the drainpipe. When pressing the drainpipe into place, apply force in the direction away from the fins to avoid injuring yourself.

Your LG LW2512ER is operating normally under the following conditions:

• Pinging noise: This is caused by water being picked up by the condenser on rainy or highly humid days. This feature helps remove moisture and improve cooling efficiency.

• Thermostat click: This is the sound of the compressor cycling on and off.

• Water dripping from the rear: Water may collect in the base pan in humid conditions or on rainy days. This water can overflow and drip from the rear of the unit.

• Fan running while compressor is off: This is a normal operational feature.
