The TP-LINK HS103 is a compact home device that turns your outlet into a controllable, customizable, and multi-functional outlet. Its features include:

The Power/Settings button on the TP-LINK HS103 has multiple functions:

Turn ON/OFF: Press for 1 second to turn the socket on or off.

Initiate Setup: Press and hold for 5 seconds, or until the LED flashes amber and blue alternately, to initiate the app onboarding process (SoftAP).

Factory Reset: Press and hold for 10 seconds, or until the LED flashes amber rapidly, to factory reset the Smart Wi-Fi Plug Lite.

The LED on your TP-LINK HS103 changes color to indicate its status:

Flashing amber and blue: App onboarding process (SoftAP) has been initiated.

Flashing blue rapidly: Connecting to the network.

Solid blue: Connected to the network.

Flashing amber rapidly: Factory reset is in progress.

Solid amber: Initializing, rebooting, or no network connection.

Off: The Smart Wi-Fi Plug Lite is switched off.

Follow these steps to set up your TP-LINK HS103 using the Kasa for Mobile app:

1. Download and install Kasa app: Go to Google Play or the Apple App Store to download the Kasa app on your smartphone or tablet.

2. Log in or sign up with TP-Link ID: Open the app and log in with your TP-Link ID. If you don’t have one, tap Create Account and follow the instructions.

3. Add device: Tap the + button in the Kasa app and select Smart Plug Mini or Lite Series.

4. Set up your smart plug: Follow the in-app instructions to power up your smart plug and connect it to your home network.

5. Complete and enjoy: Once setup is complete, your smart plug will be saved in your device list and is ready to use.

After setting up your TP-LINK HS103, the Kasa app home page will display the status of all your added devices. You can tap on your smart plug from the list to go to its Device Status page. From there, you can:

View the current on/off status.

Check the total runtime for the day.

Access controls to set a Schedule, Away Mode, or Timer.

On the Device Status page in the Kasa app, tap the Schedule icon to create an automatic On/Off action for your TP-LINK HS103. You can set a specific time for the plug to turn on or off and select which days of the week the schedule should repeat.

Away Mode makes it seem like someone is home by randomly turning your TP-LINK HS103 on and off. To set it up, go to the Device Status page in the Kasa app and tap the Away icon. You can then set a start and end time, and choose the days for Away Mode to be active.

To have your TP-LINK HS103 turn on or off after a specific amount of time, use the Timer function. On the Device Status page in the Kasa app, tap the Timer icon. Set the duration (hours and minutes), and the plug will turn on or off after that time has elapsed.

On the Device Status page, tap the settings icon (gear symbol) to view and change the settings for your TP-LINK HS103. You can manage the following:

Remote Control: Enable or disable control of the plug when you are away from your home Wi-Fi.

Device Name: Customize the name of your smart plug.

Device Icon: Change the icon for your smart plug.

Time Zone: Set the correct time zone for scheduling.

You can also view device information such as the model, MAC address, and hardware version.

A scene is a preset group of smart devices, including your TP-LINK HS103, that can be programmed, customized, and activated simultaneously with a single touch of a button from your smartphone or tablet. This feature allows you to easily set a specific mood or activity, or automate how your smart home devices act for special occasions.

You can pair your TP-LINK HS103 with Amazon Alexa, Google Home Assistant, or Microsoft Cortana for a full hands-free voice control experience. Kasa also works with Nest to trigger actions when you arrive home or leave, and IFTTT to set up interactions between a host of products. To set this up, launch the Kasa app and go to Add Device > WORKS WITH KASA, then select the service you wish to connect for detailed instructions.

Please follow these safety guidelines when using your TP-LINK HS103:

Keep the device away from water, fire, humidity, or hot environments.

Do not attempt to disassemble, repair, or modify the device.

Do not use the device where wireless devices are not allowed.

The socket-outlet shall be installed near the equipment and shall be easily accessible.

For passthrough devices, plug power strips into the integrated electrical sockets of the devices, but do not stack devices of the same or another type in normal use.

The devices are not intended for use in locations where the temperature may be less than actual room conditions, such as unheated warehouses or garages.
