To ensure safe use of your TOTO SW4736, please adhere to the following precautions:

General Safety:

• Never disassemble, repair, or alter the product.

• If a malfunction occurs (water leak, crack, strange noise/odor, smoke, abnormal heat), immediately cut off power by unplugging the unit and close the water shutoff valve.

• Keep cigarettes and other open flames away from the product.

• Do not sit on the seat for long periods to avoid low-temperature burns. Persons unable to set the temperature appropriately, the ill, physically disabled, or those using medications causing drowsiness should have another person turn off the toilet seat heater and set the dryer to “Low”.

• If the power cord is damaged, have it replaced by the manufacturer’s repair department or an equivalent specialist.

• Turn the power OFF before maintenance, inspection, or removing the main unit.

• If battery fluid leaks onto your body or clothes, wash it away with clean water immediately.

Electrical Safety:

• Use only the specified power supply: AC 120 V, 60 Hz.

• Do not touch the power cord connection with wet hands or during a thunderstorm.

• Do not use a loose or faulty electrical outlet. Insert the power plug securely.

• Confirm that a properly grounded outlet has been installed.

• Periodically remove dust and dirt from the power plug and ensure it is securely plugged in.

• To unplug, hold the power plug, not the cord.

• Do not damage the power cord (strike, yank, twist, bend, alter, heat, or place heavy objects on it).

Water and Environment:

• Use only potable water. Do not use seawater or recycled water.

• This is an electrical product. Do not install it where water is likely to get on it or in high humidity. Ensure good airflow in the bathroom.

• Always connect the product to the cold water supply.

• Do not get water or cleaning solution on the gap between the main unit and bowl unit or on power supply connections.

• Do not allow the water supply hose to touch the power source connection.

Usage Precautions:

• Do not stick a finger or anything else into the warm air outlet or place items on it.

• Do not install the product on moving vehicles like boats.

• Do not use the product if the main unit is unstable.

• Do not apply strong force, step on, or place heavy objects on the toilet seat, lid, or main unit.

• Do not lift the product by the toilet seat or lid.

• When cleaning plastic parts, use a pH neutral kitchen detergent diluted with water. Do not use toilet cleaner, household cleaner, benzene, paint thinner, powdered cleanser, or a nylon scrubbing brush.

• If the bowl is clogged, turn the power OFF before removing the clog to prevent overflow from auto flush.

About the built-in body sensor:

• The body sensor detects human movement. It may be triggered by someone outside the bathroom if it detects movement through a door or wall.

• The sensor may not detect properly depending on the bathroom layout, or if the user is small (like a child), which may result in the toilet lid not opening automatically.

• Do not block the body sensor.

• Detection may be difficult when room temperature exceeds 30°C (86°F).

• Direct sunlight or heat from a heater on the sensor may cause incorrect detection.

About the built-in seat sensor:

• When you sit on the toilet seat, the sensor turns on, enabling various features.

• Detection may be difficult for small children. Sit on the seat so the sensor area touches your skin directly. A seat cover or clothing may prevent proper detection.

• If using a booster seat for infants, the sensor may not detect properly, possibly causing the lid to close during use. Turn “Auto open / close” OFF before use.

• Water droplets on the seat sensor may cause a malfunction. Be sure to wipe off any water droplets.

1. Insert the battery in the remote control

1.1. Remove the remote control from the hanger.

1.2. Open the battery cover, insert two AAA dry cell, alkaline batteries, and close the cover. When batteries are properly loaded, all LEDs on the remote control will light up for about 2 seconds.

1.3. Mount the remote control in the hanger.

2. Turn on the power

2.1. Insert the power plug into the outlet. The wand will extend and then retract.

2.2. Check that the “Power” LED on the main unit illuminates.

3. Open the shutoff valve

3.1. Fully open the shutoff valve to allow water to flow to the unit.

If the light is off, you need to switch the power to “ON” using the remote control.

To operate from the back of the remote control:

Press the “Power ON/OFF” button for 3 seconds or longer.

To operate from the front of the remote control:

1. Press and hold both the “Stop” button and “Water pressure adjustment +” button until the remote control LEDs light or flash (about 10 seconds).

2. Press the “Water pressure +” button.

3. Press the “Water pressure -” button.

4. Press the “Water pressure +” button.

The TOTO SW4736 uses a sequence of automatic functions based on default settings. These settings can be changed.

1. As you approach:

• Auto open / close: The toilet lid opens.

• Auto bowl CLEAN (Pre-mist): A mist is automatically sprayed inside the bowl to make it more difficult for dirt to adhere. The Bowl light lights up.

2. As you sit:

• Deodorizer: The deodorizer starts, removing odors inside the bowl unit.

3. As you stand up:

• Auto power deodorizer: Starts about 10 seconds after you stand up and stops after about 60 seconds.

• Auto flushing: The toilet flushes about 10 seconds after you stand up. The type of flush (light or full) depends on how long you were seated.

• Auto wand CLEAN: If washing functions were used, the wand extends and self-cleans with EWATER+ after about 25 seconds.

• Auto bowl CLEAN (After-mist): If washing functions were not used, an EWATER+ mist is sprayed on the bowl unit after about 25 seconds.

4. As you move away:

• Auto open / close: The toilet lid and toilet seat close.

EWATER+ is a feature on your TOTO SW4736 that helps the self-cleaning wand work effectively and prevents the accumulation of dirt that can cause stains.

• It is generated from chemicals already present in potable water.

• It helps to minimize dirty surfaces, but does not replace the need for regular cleaning.

• The effectiveness of rinsing with EWATER+ can vary depending on the frequency of toilet use and other conditions.

Operate the controls on the remote control. A beep will sound when the main unit receives the signal.

• Stop: Stops the Rear washing, Front washing, or Warm air drying operation.

• Rear washing: Washes your rear.

• Rear soft washing: Washes your rear with a soft, embracing water flow.

• Front washing: Serves as a bidet for ladies.

• Wide front washing: Gently washes a wide area.

• Warm air drying: Dries your rear.

• Water pressure adjustment (+/-): Adjusts the water pressure to one of five levels. [-] is Softer, [+] is Stronger.

• Wand position adjustment (▲/▼): Adjusts the washing position to 5 different points between the front and the rear.

• Pulsating washing: Washes with water pressure pulsating between soft and strong.

• Oscillating washing: The wand moves back and forth to wash your rear thoroughly.

Note: Washing and drying functions cannot be used if the seat sensor is not activated. Sit down so the seat sensor touches your skin directly.

These functions are typically found on the main panel and back of the remote control.

• Wand CLEAN: Cleans the wand with EWATER+. After cleaning, water comes out from around the wand.

• Power deodorizer: Press the button to increase suction power and remove odor. This can only be used when seated.

• Flushing (Full/Light): Performs a full or light flush of the toilet bowl. (Button type varies by model).

• Opening/closing the toilet seat and lid: For models with the “Auto open/close” feature, these buttons open and close the toilet lid and/or seat.

• Personal setting: Allows up to four users to register their preferred “Water pressure”, “Wand position”, and “Warm water temperature” settings.

• Power ON/OFF button: (On back of remote) Press and hold for 3 seconds or longer to turn the WASHLET operation ON or OFF.

• Manual spray: (On back of remote) Sprays EWATER+ mist on the bowl unit for maintenance. Cannot be used when the wand is out or when you are seated.

Five different temperature levels from high to low, plus “OFF,” can be set for warm water and the toilet seat. The dryer temperature cannot be turned “OFF”.

1. Remove the remote control from the hanger.

2. On the back of the remote, choose and press the button for the temperature you want to set:

• “Warm water temperature” button

• “Toilet seat temperature” button

• “Drying air temperature” button

The current temperature level will appear on the front LEDs.

3. Press the same button repeatedly until the desired temperature level illuminates. The setting changes each time the button is pressed, cycling through OFF (for water/seat), Low, Medium-low, Medium, Medium-high, and High.

4. Mount the remote control back in the hanger. If no button is pressed for about 10 seconds, the LED will go off, but the setting will be retained.

1. Remove the remote control from the hanger.

2. On the back of the remote, select the temperature button you want to turn “OFF” (“Toilet seat temperature” or “Warm water temperature”) and press it.

3. Press the button repeatedly until all the temperature level LEDs are off, indicating the “OFF” setting.

4. Mount the remote control in the hanger. When the seat temperature is OFF, the SEAT LED on the main display will be unilluminated.

To enter the setting mode on your TOTO SW4736, press and hold the “Stop” button on the remote control for approximately 10 seconds or longer until the LEDs begin to flash. From there, you can press different button combinations to change various settings. Please refer to the specific instructions for each feature you wish to adjust.

You can set three types of energy savers. The setting changes each time the corresponding button is pressed.

• Auto energy saver: Press the “Auto energy saver” button to cycle through settings. When “Auto energy saver” is set, the product learns periods of infrequent use and automatically lowers the toilet seat temperature. When “Auto energy saver+” is set, it also turns off the toilet seat heater during periods when the toilet is not used.

• Timer energy saver: To save energy for a preset duration (6 or 9 hours), press the “Timer energy saver” button at the time you want the saving period to start. For example, to save energy from 1 am to 7 am (6 hours), press the “Timer energy saver” button at 1 am until the “6” LED illuminates. The toilet seat heater will then turn off automatically during this period every day.

To set whether or not to clean the bowl unit automatically:

1. Press the “Auto flushing” button on the remote control.

2. The setting changes between ON and OFF each time the button is pressed. Check the corresponding LED to confirm the setting.

This allows you to change the amount of time before the toilet flushes automatically after you stand up.

1. Press the “Stop” button for about 10 seconds until all LEDs on the remote control start flashing.

2. Press the “Rear washing” button.

3. Press the “Front washing” button.

4. Choose and press one of the following buttons to set the delay:

• SET 1 (Short – approx. 5 seconds): Press the “Water pressure -” button (Short beeps).

• SET 2 (Standard – approx. 10 seconds): Press the “Rear washing” button (Long beep).

• SET 3 (Long – approx. 15 seconds): Press the “Water pressure +” button (Short beep).

The settings are now complete.

You can register preferred settings for up to four people.

Registering a Personal Setting:

1. Press the “Personal setting lock” button to select the location to be set (Register 1, 2, 3, or 4). The setting changes each time the button is pressed.

2. During a washing function (e.g., “Rear washing”), set your preferences for “Wand position,” “Water pressure,” and “Warm water temperature.”

3. Press and hold the “Personal setting lock” button for about 5 seconds or longer to save the settings.

Using a Personal Setting:

1. Press the “Personal setting” button to turn on the LED for your registered location (1, 2, 3, or 4).

2. Press the wash button you want to use (e.g., “Rear washing”). Your personalized settings will be applied.

Cleaning the Main Unit (Approximately daily):

1. Turn the power “OFF”.

2. Wipe the unit with a soft cloth that has been soaked in water and wrung out thoroughly. For heavy dirt, use a soft cloth with diluted, pH neutral kitchen detergent, then wipe again with a water-soaked cloth.

3. Turn the power “ON”.

Cleaning the Gap between the Main Unit and Bowl Unit (Approximately once a month):

1. Turn the power “OFF”.

2. Remove the main unit by pressing the “Main unit removal button” and pulling the unit toward you.

3. Clean the top of the bowl unit and the bottom of the main unit with a soft cloth and diluted, pH neutral kitchen detergent.

4. Mount the main unit back onto the base plate, aligning it and pressing firmly until you hear a click.

5. Turn the power “ON”.

This should be done approximately once a month if you notice dirt.

1. Extend the wand. You can do this by pressing the “Wand cleaning” button on the back of the remote control.

2. Wipe the wand with a soft cloth that has been soaked in water and wrung out thoroughly. Do not pull, push, or press the wand with excessive force.

3. Press the “Stop” button on the front of the remote control. The wand will retract.

This should be done approximately once a month.

1. Turn the power “OFF”.

2. Remove the deodorizing filter by holding the tab and pulling it outward.

3. Clean the filter with a tool such as a toothbrush. If washing with water, dry off all water before reinserting.

4. Reinsert the deodorizing filter, pushing it firmly until a click sound is heard.

5. Turn the power “ON”.

Clean this filter approximately once every 6 months, or if water pressure is weak.

1. Close the shutoff valve to stop the water supply.

2. Press the “Wand CLEAN” button to release pressure from the water supply pipe.

3. Turn the power “OFF”.

4. Open the toilet seat and lid.

5. Open the cover by inserting a flat-head screwdriver in the hook. Then, loosen the drain plug with the screwdriver and pull it out.

6. Clean the filter with a toothbrush. Also remove any dust from inside the hole of the drain plug.

7. Reinstall the drain plug using the screwdriver to tighten it securely. Close the cover by pushing it in until a click is heard.

8. Turn the power “ON”.

9. Open the shutoff valve.

1. Turn “Auto flushing” OFF before starting work.

2. Use a bucket to flush the bowl unit manually. Pour water strongly, aiming at the center of the bowl.

3. If the water level is low after flushing, add more water to prevent odors.

When water supply is restored, first use water in a bath or kitchen to remove air from the pipes before using the TOTO SW4736. After that, perform a full flush.

When the ambient temperature is likely to drop to 32°F (0°C) or lower, take these measures:

1. Set “Auto flush” and “Auto open/close” to “OFF”. Do not use the energy saver feature.

2. Close the shutoff valve.

3. Drain the water from the toilet tank.

4. Press the “Wand CLEAN” button to release pressure from the water supply pipe.

5. Turn the power “OFF”.

6. Drain the pipe by removing the drain plug with water supply filter.

7. Reinstall the drain plug and close the cover.

8. Turn the power “ON”.

9. Set the toilet seat temperature to “High”. To maintain temperature, close the toilet seat and lid after finishing work.

If the toilet will not be used for a long time, drain the water to prevent contamination or damage.

1. Close the shutoff valve.

2. Drain the water from the toilet tank by manipulating the flush lever/button.

3. Press the “Wand CLEAN” button to release pressure from the water supply pipe.

4. Turn the power “OFF”.

5. Drain the pipe by opening the toilet seat and lid, using a flat-head screwdriver to open the filter cover, and then loosening and removing the drain plug with water supply filter.

6. After draining, reinstall the drain plug and close the cover.

1. Open the shutoff valve. Check that water is not leaking from any pipes or the main unit.

2. If the power is not on, turn the power “ON”. The “Power” LED will illuminate.

3. Discharge water from the wand:

1) Keep your hand in contact with the seat sensor.

2) Press the “Rear washing” button to discharge water from the wand. Catch the water in a paper cup.

3) Move your hand from the seat sensor.

First, perform these initial checks:

• A: Is the Power LED illuminated? Is the main unit working?

• Check if the breaker on the distribution board is on.

• Check for a power outage.

• Is the “Power ON/OFF” setting on the remote set to “OFF”? Switch it to “ON”.

• If the “Power” LED on the main display is flashing, the main unit is not mounted properly. Remount it correctly.

• B: Is the Energy saver LED lit?

• While the LED is lit, the energy saver is in operation, so the toilet seat temperature may be reduced or the heater may be turned off.

• C: Is the remote control working?

• Is the low battery warning mark flashing on the remote? If so, replace the batteries.

• Is the remote control transmitter or the receiver on the main unit blocked? Remove any obstructions, dirt, or water droplets.

If the wand or washing water does not come out, please check the following:

• When the temperature is low, it takes time for the water to warm up first.

• Is there a toilet seat cover or clothing on the seat sensor, or are you not touching the seat sensor? Sit down so that your skin touches the seat sensor directly.

• Are you using a toilet seat cover, lid cover, or seat for infants? Remove any covers.

• Are you pressing the “Wand CLEAN” button? This button is for cleaning the wand itself, not for personal washing. Use the “Rear washing” or “Front washing” buttons instead.

Please check the following potential causes:

• Has a water failure occurred? Wait until water service is restored.

• Is the shutoff valve fully open? Fully open the valve.

• Is the drain plug with water supply filter clogged? Clean the filter.

• Is the water pressure set to a low level? Increase the pressure using the remote control.

• Washing functions (“Rear washing,” “Front washing,” etc.) automatically stop after about 5 minutes of continuous use. Dryer function stops after about 10 minutes.

• Does the seat sensor have difficulty detecting you? If you get up slightly or shift your weight, the sensor may temporarily stop detecting you, causing the function to stop. Ensure you are seated firmly so your skin touches the sensor.

If you are experiencing flushing issues, check these points:

• For not flushing at all:

• Is the shutoff valve fully open?

• Has a water failure occurred?

• Are you pressing the flush button on the remote repeatedly? The unit will not accept another flush command for 10 to 20 seconds after a flush.

• Auto flush does not work or is delayed:

• Is “Auto flushing” set to “OFF”? Set it to “ON”.

• Auto flush does not work for about 60 seconds after the previous flush.

• Auto flush does not work if you were sitting on the toilet seat for less than about 6 seconds.

• On certain models, if the body sensor has water droplets or dirt on it, it may not function correctly. Wipe off any dirt.

If the auto open/close function is not working, please check the following:

• Is “Auto open/close” set to “OFF”? Set it to “ON”.

• The function does not activate for about 15 seconds after the lid is closed. Wait at least 15 seconds before approaching the toilet again.

• The function does not activate for about 20 seconds after the power is turned ON. Use the remote control during this time.

• Is a toilet lid or seat cover installed? Remove any covers as they can interfere with the sensors.

• The toilet lid does not close automatically if you were seated for less than 6 seconds. It will close after about 5 minutes.

If the toilet seat is cold, check these possible reasons:

• Is the toilet seat temperature set to “OFF” or a low level? Adjust the temperature setting.

• Is an energy saver feature in operation? When the “Energy saver” LED is on, the seat temperature is lowered or turned off to save energy. When you sit down, it will start to warm up, which takes about 15 minutes. You can turn the energy saver feature “OFF”.

• Have you been seated for a long time? After about 20 minutes of sitting, the temperature starts to decrease, and after about 1 hour, the heater turns off. Stand up from the seat and then use it again.

• Is a toilet seat cover installed? Remove the cover.

For issues with the deodorizer, please verify the following:

• Deodorizer seems to be not working:

• Is the “Deodorizer” function set to “OFF”? Set it to “ON”.

• The deodorizer only works when you are sitting on the seat. Sit so your skin is in direct contact with the seat sensor.

• If you hear an operation sound but odors are not removed, the deodorizing filter may need cleaning. Clean the filter.

• A strange odor is emitted:

• Are you using a separate air freshener? This may reduce the effectiveness of the product’s deodorizer. Remove the separate air freshener.

• Auto power deodorizer is not working:

• Is “Auto power deodorizer” set to “OFF”? Set it to “ON”.

• The auto power deodorizer starts about 10 seconds after you stand up from the toilet seat.
