READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING your TOTO SW4734AT40. The following are important safeguards:

DANGER – To reduce the risk of electrocution:

1. Do not use while bathing.

2. Do not place or store the product where it can fall or be pulled into a tub or sink.

3. Do not place in or drop into water or other liquid.

4. Do not reach for the product when it has fallen into water. Unplug it immediately.

WARNING – To reduce the risk of burns, electrocution, fire or injury to persons:

1. Close supervision is necessary when this product is used by, on, or near children or invalids.

2. Use this product only for its intended use as described in this manual. Do not use attachments not recommended by the manufacturer.

3. Never operate this product if it has a damaged cord or plug, is not working properly, has been dropped or damaged, or has been dropped in water. Return the product to a service center for examination and repair.

4. Keep the cord away from heated surfaces.

5. Never block the air openings on the product or place it on a soft surface, such as a bed or couch, where the air openings may be blocked. Keep the air openings free of lint, hair, and other similar items.

6. Never use while sleepy or drowsy.

7. Never drop or insert any object into any opening or hose.

8. Do not use outdoors. Do not operate where aerosol (spray) products are being used or where oxygen is being administered.

9. Connect this product to a properly grounded outlet only.

10. The tank should be filled with water only.

In case of breakdown or other problem, be sure to cut off power by unplugging the power plug and close the water shutoff valve to stop the water supply. Continued use after a malfunction could cause a fire, electrical shock, heat, short circuit, injury, or water damage.

Possible malfunctions:

• Water is leaking from a pipe or the main unit.

• The product is cracked or broken.

• The product makes a strange noise or emits a strange odor.

• The product emits smoke.

• The product is abnormally hot.

• The toilet seat cushion is out of place.

Only use potable water. Do not use seawater or recycled water, as doing so may cause skin irritation and malfunction. Always connect the product to the cold water supply. Connecting to a hot water supply may result in burns and equipment damage.

About the built-in body sensor:

The body sensor detects human movement. The toilet lid opening or “Auto bowl CLEAN” operation may be triggered by someone outside the bathroom as the sensor detects movement through the door or wall. Depending on the bathroom layout, the sensor may not detect properly, resulting in the toilet lid not opening automatically, especially for a small person like a child. When using the toilet in a standing position, the time it takes for “Auto flushing” or for the lid/seat to close depends on the bathroom layout.

About the built-in seat sensor:

When you sit on the toilet seat, the seat sensor turns ON, enabling you to use various features. A label indicates the position of the seat sensor. Detection may be difficult for a small person depending on how they sit. Sit on the seat with the label as a guide (the label can be peeled off).

Sit down so the seat sensor touches your skin directly. The sensor may not detect properly if there is a seat cover or clothing. If you use a booster seat for infants, the sensor may not detect properly. Turn “Auto open/close” OFF before use. Water droplets on the seat sensor may cause malfunction; wipe them off.

• To prevent damage, wipe plastic areas with a soft cloth tightly wrung out with water.

• Do not lean against the toilet lid.

• For prevention of malfunctions, do not block the remote control transmitter or receiver.

• Turn the power OFF if there is a risk of a lightning strike.

• A toilet seat cover or lid cover cannot be used, as the sensors may not detect properly and the lid/seat may not open or close properly.

• Do not use the product with the toilet lid removed.

• Do not expose to direct sunlight.

• Use radios and other signal-emitting devices away from the product to avoid interference.

• If you use a booster seat for infants, remove it after use.

• Do not apply force to the remote control or place anything on the toilet seat.

• Do not urinate on the main unit, toilet seat, or wand.

• When using a toilet cleaner, rinse it off within 3 minutes and leave the toilet seat and lid open. Wipe off any cleaner that remains on the bowl unit.

1. Insert the battery in the remote control:

1.1 Remove the remote control from the hanger.

1.2 Open the battery cover, insert two AAA dry cell, alkaline batteries, and close the cover. When batteries are properly loaded, all LEDs on the remote control will light up for about 2 seconds.

1.3 Mount the remote control in the hanger.

2. Turn on the power:

2.1 Insert the power plug. The wand will extend and then retract.

2.2 Check that the “Power” LED illuminates. If it is off, you must switch the power to “ON” using the remote control.

3. Open the shutoff valve:

3.1 Fully open the shutoff valve.

The “EWATER+” feature is used automatically to clean the wand and bowl unit. Operation under default settings is as follows:

1. As you approach:

• Auto open / close: The toilet lid opens.

• Auto bowl CLEAN (Pre-mist): A mist is automatically sprayed inside the bowl unit to make it more difficult for dirt to adhere. The Bowl light lights up.

2. As you sit:

• Deodorizer: The deodorizer starts, removing odors inside the bowl unit.

3. As you stand up:

• Auto power deodorizer: After about 10 seconds, the auto power deodorizer starts. It stops about 60 seconds after you stand up.

• Auto flushing: After about 10 seconds, the toilet flushes. The type of flush depends on how long you sat on the toilet seat.

• Auto wand CLEAN: Only when washing functions are used. After about 25 seconds, the wand extends to clean itself with EWATER+.

• Auto bowl CLEAN (After-mist): If washing functions were not used, after-mist starts after about 25 seconds, spraying EWATER+ mist on the bowl unit.

4. As you move away:

• Auto open / close: The toilet lid and toilet seat close.

These mechanisms can be changed in the “Changing Settings” section of the manual.

Operate the controls on the remote control; a beep sounds when the main unit receives the signal. You must be seated on the toilet for washing and drying functions to work.

• Stop: Stops the current washing or drying operation.

• Rear washing: Washes your rear.

• Rear soft washing: Washes your rear with a soft, embracing water flow.

• Front washing: Serves as a bidet for ladies.

• Wide front washing: Gently washes a wide area.

• Warm air drying: Dries your rear.

• Water pressure adjustment (+/-): Adjust the water pressure to one of five levels. [-] is Softer, [+] is Stronger.

• Wand position adjustment (▲/▼): Adjust the washing position to 5 different points between the front and the rear.

• Pulsating washing: Washes with water pressure pulsating between soft and strong.

• Oscillating washing: The wand moves back and forth to wash your rear thoroughly.

• Wand CLEAN: Cleans the wand with EWATER+. After cleaning, water comes out from around the wand.

• Power deodorizer: Press to increase suction power and remove odor. Cannot be used unless you are seated on the toilet seat.

• Flushing (Full flush/Light flush): Performs a full or light flush depending on the button pressed and toilet bowl type.

• Opening/closing the toilet seat and lid: Use the remote to open and close the toilet lid and seat.

• Personal setting: Up to four people can register their preferred “Water pressure”, “Wand position”, and “Warm water temperature” settings.

• “Power ON/OFF” button (on back): Press and hold for 3 seconds or longer to turn the WASHLET operation ON/OFF.

• Manual spray (on back): Sprays EWATER+ mist on the bowl unit. Cannot be used when the wand is out or when you are sitting on the toilet seat.

Five different temperature levels from high to low and “OFF” can be set.

1. Remove the remote control from the hanger.

2. Choose and press the button for the temperature you want to set:

• “Warm water temperature” button

• “Toilet seat temperature” button

• “Drying air temperature” button

The current temperature level will appear.

3. Press the button selected in step 2 repeatedly until a desired temperature level illuminates. The setting changes each time the button is pressed. The levels are OFF, Low, Medium-low, Medium, Medium-high, and High.

4. When complete, mount the remote control in the hanger. The setting is retained even if the LED goes off after about 10 seconds.

Note: The “Drying” temperature cannot be turned “OFF”.

1. Remove the remote control from the hanger.

2. Select either the “Toilet seat temperature” button or the “Warm water temperature” button and press it. The current temperature level appears.

3. Press the button repeatedly until the temperature level is set to “OFF”.

4. Mount the remote control in the hanger. When the seat temperature is OFF, the SEAT LED is unilluminated.

The following settings can be changed on your TOTO SW4734AT40. Initial settings are in bold.

You can choose between “Auto energy saver”, “Auto energy saver+”, or “Timer energy saver”.

• Auto energy saver: Press the “Auto energy saver” button until the corresponding LED is lit. The product learns periods of infrequent use and lowers the toilet seat temperature automatically.

• Auto energy saver+: Press the “Auto energy saver” button until the corresponding LED is lit for this mode. In addition to the “Auto energy saver” feature, it automatically turns off the toilet seat heater during periods when the toilet is not used.

• Timer energy saver: Set the energy saver at the time you want it to start. For example, to save energy for 6 hours starting at 1:00 am, press the “Timer energy saver” button at 1:00 am repeatedly until the “6” LED illuminates. The toilet seat heater will turn off for the set duration every day.

You can change when to open the toilet lid upon entering the bathroom.

1. Press the “Stop” button until all LEDs on the remote control start lit/flashing (about 10 seconds).

2. Press the “Front washing” button.

3. Press the “Rear washing” button.

4. Press the “Front washing” button. The current setting is displayed.

5. Use the “Water pressure -” and “Water pressure +” buttons to select a setting from SET 1 (shortest distance, detects nearer) to SET 5 (longest distance, detects farther).

6. Press the “Stop” button to complete the setting.

Always turn off the power before maintenance or inspection.

• Power Plug (monthly): Unplug the power plug and wipe it with a dry cloth. Periodically remove dust from the blades and fully insert the plug back into the outlet.

• Main Unit (daily): Turn the power OFF. Wipe with a soft cloth soaked in water and wrung out. For heavy dirt, use a soft cloth with diluted, pH neutral kitchen detergent, then wipe with a water-soaked cloth. Turn the power ON when finished.

• Manual Spray: Press the “Manual spray” button on the back of the remote control to spray EWATER+ mist into the bowl for maintenance.

Approximately once a month, you can remove the main unit for cleaning.

1. Turn the power “OFF”.

2. Press the “Main unit removal button” and pull the main unit toward you to remove it.

3. Clean the top of the bowl unit and the bottom of the main unit with a soft cloth and diluted, pH neutral kitchen detergent. Dry the surface.

4. To mount the main unit, align it with the center of the base plate and press it firmly onto the plate until a click sound is heard. Ensure it does not detach when pulled.

5. Turn the power “ON”.

Approximately once a month or if you notice dirt, clean the wand.

1. Extend the wand. You can do this by pressing the “Wand cleaning” button on the back of the remote control.

2. Wipe the wand with a soft cloth that has been soaked in water and wrung out thoroughly. Do not pull, push or press the wand with excessive force.

3. Press the “Stop” button. The wand will retract.

Clean the filter approximately once a month.

1. Turn the power “OFF”.

2. Remove the deodorizing filter by holding the tab and pulling it outward.

3. Clean the filter with a tool such as a toothbrush. If washing with water, dry it off completely before reinserting.

4. Reinsert the deodorizing filter, pushing firmly until a click sound is heard.

5. Turn the power “ON”.

Clean approximately once every 6 months, or if water pressure is weak.

1. Close the shutoff valve. The water supply will stop.

2. Press the “Wand CLEAN” button to release pressure from the water supply pipe.

3. Turn the power “OFF”.

4. Open the toilet seat and lid.

5. Open the cover by inserting a flat-head screwdriver in the hook. Then, loosen the drain plug with the screwdriver and pull it out.

6. Clean the filter with a toothbrush. Also remove any dust from inside the hole of the drain plug.

7. Reinstall the drain plug, tightening it securely with a flat-head screwdriver. Close the cover until it clicks.

8. Turn the power “ON”.

9. Open the shutoff valve.

1. Use a bucket to flush the bowl unit. Pour water strongly, aiming at the center of the bowl.

2. If the water level is low after flushing, add more water to prevent odors.

Before starting, turn “Auto flushing” OFF. When water supply is restored, first use water in a bath or kitchen to remove air from the pipes before using the TOTO SW4734AT40.

If the low battery warning mark on the remote control is flashing, replace the batteries.

1. Unplug the power plug.

2. Remove the remote control from the hanger.

3. Open the battery cover and replace with two new AAA batteries.

4. Mount the remote control in the hanger.

5. Turn the power “ON”.

Note that “ON” and “OFF” settings of functions like the energy saver may be canceled when batteries are replaced and will need to be set again.

When the ambient temperature is likely to drop to 32 °F (0 °C) or lower, take these measures:

1. Set “Auto flush” and “Auto open/close” to “OFF”.

2. Close the shutoff valve.

3. Drain the water from the toilet tank.

4. Press the “Wand CLEAN” button to release pressure from the water supply pipe.

5. Turn the power “OFF”.

6. Drain the pipe by opening the drain plug cover and loosening the drain plug.

7. Reinstall the drain plug and close the cover.

8. Turn the power “ON”.

9. Set the toilet seat temperature to “High” and keep the toilet seat and lid closed.

Alternatively, warm the bathroom so the temperature does not drop below 32 °F (0 °C).

If the toilet will not be used for a long time, drain the water.

1. Close the shutoff valve.

2. Drain the water from the toilet tank.

3. Press the “Wand CLEAN” button to release pressure.

4. Turn the power “OFF”.

5. Drain the pipe by opening the drain plug cover and loosening the drain plug with a flat-head screwdriver.

6. Reinstall the drain plug and close the cover.

The water needs to be resupplied.

1. Open the shutoff valve. Check that water is not leaking from a pipe or the main unit.

2. If the power is not on, turn the power ON. The “Power” LED will illuminate.

3. Discharge water from the wand:

• Keep your hand or arm in contact with the seat sensor.

• Press the “Rear washing” button to discharge water from the wand, catching it in a paper cup or other receptacle.

• Move your hand or arm from the seat sensor.

• When the temperature is low, it takes time for the wand to come out as the water must be warmed up first.

• Has the toilet been used continuously for 2 hours or longer? If so, operation stops for safety. Stand up from the seat and then use again.

• If water supply pressure drops, the function may stop for safety. Turn the power OFF, wait 10 seconds, then turn it ON again.

• Are you sitting properly on the seat sensor? Check the location of the sensor and sit down so that it touches your skin directly. Remove any seat covers.

• Are you pressing the “Wand CLEAN” button? This function cleans the wand; it does not extend for washing.

• Has a water failure occurred? Press the “Stop” button and wait until water service is restored.

• Is the shutoff valve fully open?

• Is the drain plug with water supply filter clogged? Clean the filter.

• Is the water pressure set to a low level? Adjust it.

• “Rear washing”, “Rear soft washing”, “Front washing”, and “Wide front washing” stop automatically after about 5 minutes of continuous use.

• Does the seat sensor have difficulty detecting? If you get up slightly or sit leftward on the seat, the sensor may temporarily stop detecting you. Ensure you are seated properly.

• Is the shutoff valve fully open?

• Has a water failure occurred? Use a bucket to flush the water.

• Are you pressing the flush button repeatedly? After pressing, operation will not be accepted for about 10 to 20 seconds.

• Is “Auto flushing” set to “OFF”? Set it to “ON”.

• Auto flushing is not available for about 60 seconds after the bowl unit flushes.

• Auto flushing does not work if you sit on the toilet for less than about 6 seconds.

• When the toilet is used in a standing position, the water flows after a maximum of about 20 seconds from when you leave the bathroom.

• Is “Auto open/close” set to “OFF”? Set it to “ON”.

• The function is disabled for about 15 seconds after the lid is closed by hand or remote to make it more user-friendly. Move away and wait at least 15 seconds before approaching again.

• The lid does not open automatically for about 20 seconds after the power is turned ON.

• Remove any toilet lid or seat cover.

• You can change the detection range of the body sensor.

The body sensor can detect movement through a wall or door, which may cause the lid to open automatically. You can set “Auto open/close” to “OFF” or change the sensor detection range. If a urinal or wash basin is also in the bathroom, the sensor may detect someone using it and open the lid.

• Is the toilet seat temperature set to “OFF” or a low level? Adjust the temperature.

• Is the energy saver feature in operation? When the “Energy saver” LED is on, the feature is active. The seat heater will turn on temporarily when you sit on the seat and will warm up in about 15 minutes. You can turn the energy saver feature “OFF”.

• Have you been seated for a long time? After about 20 minutes, the temperature starts to go down, and after 1 hour, the heater is turned “OFF”. Stand up and then use again.

• Is a toilet seat cover installed? Remove it.

• Is “Deodorizer” set to “OFF”? Set it to “ON”.

• Even after sitting down, you do not hear operation sounds. Sit so your skin is in direct contact with the seat sensor.

• If you hear an operation sound but odors are not removed, clean the deodorizing filter.

• Are you using a separate air freshener or deodorizer? This may reduce effectiveness. Remove the separate product.

You may hear sounds for the following reasons:

• When entering the bathroom: If “Auto bowl CLEAN” is “ON”, you may hear the pre-mist spraying in the bowl.

• When moving away after use: If “Auto power deodorizer” is “ON”, you will hear operation sounds. If “Auto wand CLEAN” is “ON”, you will hear the wand being extended and cleaned.

• When not using the product (e.g., at night): If you do not use the washing functions for about 8 hours and “Auto wand CLEAN” or “Auto bowl CLEAN” is “ON”, you may hear sounds of the wand being cleaned or EWATER+ mist being sprayed.

• Operating noise may occur to extend the wand to prevent damage from freezing by discharging remaining water.
