• For moving and reinstalling the air conditioner, ask your dealer. Incomplete installation may cause water leakage, electric shock, or fire.

• Never insert any objects into the openings of the indoor or outdoor unit.

• When used with burners or heaters, ensure sufficient ventilation to prevent oxygen deficiency.

• Regularly check the foundation blocks. If damaged, the unit may fall and cause injury.

• Do not place or use a flammable spray can near the unit.

• To clean the unit, stop operation and switch off the power at the main switch.

• Do not expose the indoor unit or remote controller to rain or moisture.

• Always replace a blown fuse with one of the same specification.

• Do not place a burner or heater in a place directly exposed to the airstream from the unit.

• Do not wash the air conditioner with water.

• Do not install the unit where flammable gas may be present.

• Avoid prolonged exposure of your body to direct streams of cold air.

Your TCL TCD160D1HWH-DV contains Refrigerant Type R32. Please follow these specific safety guidelines:

• R32 is classified as a Flammable Refrigerant with Category 1 Flammable Gas (in WHS Regulations), and Division 2.1 Flammable Gas in Transport Code.

• Do not charge R32 into systems other than those designated for R32.

• Do not charge the R32 system with oil other than those designated for R32.

• Do not use a reclaim cylinder other than an R32 reclaim cylinder.

• Do not install pipe work with diameters that are not specified for this model.

• Do not forget to add additional refrigerant if required.

Please observe the following cautions for proper operation of your TCL TCD160D1HWH-DV:

• Do not use the air conditioner for special applications like storing food, animals, plants, precision machines, or art objects, as quality may deteriorate.

• Ensure drain piping is completed correctly to prevent water leakage.

• Do not expose animals and plants directly to the airstream from the outdoor unit.

• Never operate the air conditioner without the return air filter(s) in place. This can cause dust buildup and lead to a malfunction not covered by warranty.

• This appliance is not for use by young children or infirm persons without supervision. Supervise young children to ensure they do not play with the outdoor unit.

Before you start using your air conditioning system, please do the following:

• Carefully read the operation manual supplied with your controller.

• Ensure your installer has shown you the location of the main power switch.

• The main switch must be turned on at least 6 hours before operating the air conditioner to warm up the compressor. Failure to do so may damage the compressor, which will not be covered by warranty.

• Check that there are no obstacles near the air outlet of the outdoor unit, such as plants, boxes, or fences.

• Ensure the air filter is installed in the return air grille.

• If applicable, ask your installer to verify the minimum number or combinations of zones required to be operating.

To ensure your system operates efficiently, observe the following precautions:

• Adjust the room temperature for a comfortable environment. Avoid excessive heating or cooling.

• Prevent direct sunlight from entering a room during cooling by using curtains or blinds.

• Keep doors and windows closed to prevent room air from flowing out.

• Never place objects near the air inlet and outlet of the unit.

• Turn off the main power supply switch when not using the unit for long periods to save energy. Remember to turn it back on 6 hours before you plan to use it again.

• Ventilate the room regularly, especially when using the unit for long periods.

If the TCL TCD160D1HWH-DV is operating during a power failure, it has an automatic restart function. It will automatically restart in the same mode it was in once power is restored.

If the temperature or humidity is outside the following conditions, safety devices may function, but the TCL TCD160D1HWH-DV air conditioner may not operate as normal. (DB: Dry bulb temperature)

Certain sounds are part of the normal operation of your TCL TCD160D1HWH-DV:

• A continuous low “shuh” sound: This is heard during COOLING or DEFROST operation and is the sound of refrigerant gas flowing through the indoor and outdoor units.

• A “shuh” sound at the start or stop of operation: This is the noise of the refrigerant stopping or changing direction.

• Dust from the unit: Dust may blow out from the unit when starting it after a long period of inactivity. This is dust that has settled inside the unit being blown out.

• Odors from the unit: The unit can absorb smells from the room, furniture, cigarettes, etc., and then emit them during operation.

The display showing “88” happens immediately after the main power supply switch is turned on. This indicates that the wired controller is in normal condition and is temporary.

If the air conditioner is in an abnormal condition (smell of something burning, etc.), immediately switch off the main power switch and contact your TCL dealer or a TCL appointed maintenance center. Continued operation under such circumstances may result in a failure, electric shock, or fire.

If the system does not operate, please check the following:

• Check if there is a power failure. Wait until power is restored. The system may restart automatically.

• Check if a fuse has blown or a circuit breaker has tripped. If so, please contact and notify a qualified technician to check the issue.

If the system stops after running for some time, check these points:

• Check if the air inlet or outlet of the outdoor or indoor unit is blocked by obstacles. Remove the obstacle to ensure it is well-ventilated.

• Check if the air filter is clogged. Clean the air filter(s) as per the maintenance instructions.

If you are experiencing insufficient cooling or heating, investigate the following:

• Check if the air inlet or outlet of the indoor or outdoor unit is blocked. Remove any obstacles.

• Check if the air filter is clogged. Clean it if necessary.

• Check if the set temperature is within a comfortable range.

• Check if the FAN SPEED CONTROL is set to high. If you normally use a low fan speed, ensure the air filter is clean.

• Check if doors or windows are open. Shut them to prevent outside air from coming in.

• During cooling, check if direct sunlight is entering the room. Use curtains or blinds.

• During cooling, consider if there are too many occupants or an excessive heat source in the room, as this increases the heat load.

Follow these steps to start your air conditioner after a long stop:

1. Confirm the following: Check that the air inlet and outlet are not blocked. Remove any obstacles.

2. Clean the air filter(s): After cleaning the air filter, make sure to reattach it.

3. Turn on the main power supply switch: To protect the unit, turn on the main power switch at least 6 hours before operation. The display on the wired controller will be shown when the power is turned on.

When you plan to stop the system for an extended period:

1. Turn on FAN OPERATION for half a day to dry the unit.

2. Cut off the power supply. Turn off the main power supply switch to save energy, as some power is consumed even when the system is not operating. The display on the wired controller will vanish when the power is off.

3. Ensure the drain piping from the indoor unit is free of blockage.

Before cleaning, be sure to stop the operation and turn the power switch off.

• Always clean the air filter(s) before use at the beginning of summer and winter. Dirt and dust in the filter cause a drop in airflow and performance.

• If the unit is in a location where dirt accumulates easily, clean the filter(s) more frequently. A frequency of once every 2 weeks is recommended.

• The air filter(s) and suction grille(s) are supplied by your dealer. Ask your dealer how to clean them.

Clean the air outlet grille with a soft cloth. If it is difficult to remove stains, use water or a neutral detergent.

NOTE: Do not use gasoline, benzene, thinner, polishing powder, or liquid insecticide as they may cause discoloring or warping. Do not let the indoor unit get wet, as it may cause an electric shock or a fire.

In the unlikely event of a fault, the microprocessor in the indoor and outdoor units will diagnose the issue and display a unique 2-digit fault code on the LCD screen (e.g., E0). If this occurs, write down the fault code, switch off the unit, and contact your installer. This code will help the installer or repairer identify the problem.

This is normal. You need to wait one minute until the microcomputer is prepared for operation.

This is normal behavior. The outdoor unit stops because the room temperature has reached the set temperature. The indoor unit will switch to fan-only operation.

This occurs when the system reverts to HEATING OPERATION after a DEFROST OPERATION. The moisture generated by the defrost process becomes steam and is discharged. This is normal.
