What are the functions of the main keys on the phone?

Left Soft Key: Press to access Notifications.

How do I set up my phone (SIM card, microSD card)?

Your phone already has a NANO SIM card installed. MicroSD™ cards (up to 32GB) can be purchased separately. NOTE: Power off the device before opening the back cover to install a microSD or replace the NANO SIM card.

1. Remove the back cover: With the device facing down, remove the back cover from the bottom left corner. Use your fingernail to carefully lift the cover away from the device body.

Optional: Insert the microSD card or replace the SIM card: To insert a SIM card or microSD card, push the SIM card or microSD card into the card slot with the gold-colored contacts facing down.

To remove the SIM card or microSD card: Press down on the small plastic tab (①), then slide out the card (②). Do not use force or any sharp objects.

2. Insert the battery: Insert the battery by aligning the gold contacts of the battery with the gold contact points of the device. It only fits one way. Press down to snap in place.

3. Replace the back cover: Carefully align the back cover with tabs and press into place. It only fits one direction.


How do I charge my phone?

Charge your phone fully before turning it on and starting the setup process. Insert the small end of the charging cable into the charger port on the phone. Insert the other end of the cable into your wall charger and plug it into a wall outlet.

WARNING: Only use the charger and cable supplied with the phone. Using incompatible chargers or tampering with the charging port could damage your phone and void the warranty.


How can I optimize my phone’s battery life?

Turn on power saving mode: Go to Settings > Device > Battery > Power Saving Mode > On.

Lower screen brightness: Go to Settings > Personalization > Display > Brightness. Lower the brightness by pressing the left of the Navigation Key.

Screen timeout: Go to Settings > Personalization > Display > Screen Timeout > 30 seconds.


How do I power my phone on or off?

Power on: Press and hold the End/Power Key until the phone powers on.

Power off: Press and hold the End/Power Key until the phone displays: Restart and Power Off. Use the Navigation Key to select Power Off, then press the Center Soft Key (OK).


What are the steps for the initial phone setup?

The first time you power on the phone, you will be guided through these steps:

1. Select the phone’s language, then press the Right Soft Key to go to the next step.

2. Select and set Accessibility options, then press the Right Soft Key to go to the next step.

3. Select an available Wi-Fi network, then press the Right Soft Key to go to the next step.

4. Read the KaiOS Terms and Privacy Policy, press the Center Soft Key (OK) to learn more and/or open URL; Use the Navigation Key and the Center Soft Key (OK) to set options, then press the Right Soft Key to go to the next step.

The Home Screen includes:

Status bar: Displays status/notification indicators (left side for notifications, right side for phone status).

Center Soft Key (OK): Press to enter the all app list.

Left Soft Key: Press to show Notifications.

Right Soft Key: Press to enter Contacts.


How do I make a phone call?

Dialing a number: Dial the desired number then press the Call Key or the Center Soft Key (OK) to make the call. If you make a mistake, delete the incorrect digits by pressing the Back/Delete Key.

While dialing, press the Right Soft Key for Options:

– Add to existing contact: Add the entered number to replace an existing contact number.

– Create new contact: Create a new contact with the entered number.

From call log: From the Home screen, press the Call Key, or press the Center Soft Key (OK) > Call Log to access the call log. Choose the contact you want to dial, press the Call Key or the Center Soft Key (OK) to make the call.

From Contacts: From the Home screen, press the Right Soft Key, or press the Center Soft Key (OK) > Contacts. Choose the contact you want to dial, press the Call Key or the Center Soft Key (OK) twice to call.

Emergency call: If your phone has network coverage, dial the emergency number and press the Call Key to make an emergency call. This works even without a SIM card and without typing the PIN code.

International call: Press the * key twice to enter “+” in the dial screen, enter the international country prefix followed by the full phone number, then press the Call Key or the Center Soft Key (OK) to call.


How do I use voicemail?

Calling voicemail: Press and hold the 1 key to call and listen to your voicemail. (Contact your network operator to check service availability).

Setting up voicemail:

1. Dial *86 and press the Call Key or the Center Soft Key (OK).

2. When you hear a greeting, press the # key to interrupt.

3. Follow the setup instructions.

Checking voicemail (from your phone):

During an incoming call:

Answer:

– Open the flip to answer, if Settings > Personalization > Answer Mode > Flip open to answer is On.

– Otherwise, press the Left Soft Key or Call Key to answer.

Reject:

– Press the Center Soft Key (OK) to reject the call by sending a preset message.

Mute Ringer: Press the Volume Up/Down Key to mute the ringtone volume of an incoming call.

Add a Contact:

1. On the contacts list screen, use the Navigation Key and press the Left Soft Key to create a New Contact.

2. Input the contact information (First name, Last name, Mobile phone, Personal e-mail, etc.).

3. When finished, press the Center Soft Key (OK) to save.

View a Contact:

1. On the contacts list screen, use the Navigation Key to select a Contact.

2. Press the Center Soft Key (OK) to access the detail screen.

3. From the detail screen: Press Left Soft Key to send SMS/MMS. Press Center Soft Key (OK) to make a call.

4. Press the Right Soft Key to access Options:

– Add as Favorite: Add the contact as a Favorite number (Only for Phone memory contacts). View in Contacts > Favorite contacts list. After adding, the menu shows Unfavorite.

– Edit/Share/Delete: Edit, Share, or Delete the contact.

– Find duplicate contacts: Press the Center Soft Key (OK) to find duplicates.

– Block this number: Press the Center Soft Key (OK), confirm, then press the Right Soft Key to Block.

Edit a Contact:

1. On the contacts list screen, use the Navigation Key to select a Contact.

2. Press the Right Soft Key to access Options.

3. Select Edit contact and press the Center Soft Key (OK) to edit.

4. Make changes and press the Center Soft Key (OK) to save.

Share a Contact:

1. On the contacts list screen, use the Navigation Key to select a Contact.

2. Press the Right Soft Key to access Options.

3. Select Share. The contact’s vCard can be sent via Email, Messages, or Bluetooth.

Delete Contacts:

1. On the contacts list screen, press the Right Soft Key to access Options.

2. Select Delete contacts.

3. Use the Navigation Key to view contacts and the Center Soft Key (OK) to select contacts for deletion.

4. Press the Right Soft Key to delete.

Import/Export Contacts:

1. On the contacts list screen, press the Right Soft Key to access Options.

2. Select Settings > Import contacts/Export contacts.

3. Choose to import/export contacts from/to memory card, Gmail, Outlook, or Bluetooth.

Speed Dial Contacts:

1. On the contacts list screen, press the Right Soft Key > Options > Settings > Set speed dial contacts.

2. Use the Navigation Key to select a key (2-9).

3. Press the Center Soft Key (OK) to add a contact.

4. Select the contact and press the Center Soft Key (OK) to confirm.

5. On the Home screen, long press the assigned screen key (2-9) to dial the contact.

Other Contact Options (press Right Soft Key on a selected contact):

– Call: Make a call to the selected contact.

– Send message: Send an SMS/MMS to the selected contact.

– Move/Copy contacts: Move or Copy contacts between Phone memory and SIM card.

– Settings:

– Memory: Select which contacts to display (Phone and SIM, Phone or SIM).

– Sort contacts: Sort by first or last name.

– Set speed dial contacts: Define keys 2-9 as speed dialers.

– Set ICE contacts: Add up to five contacts for “In Case of Emergency” calls.

– Create Group: (Phone memory contacts only) Press Center Soft Key (OK) to enter group name, press Right Soft Key to save. From contacts list, press Group > Center Soft Key (OK) > Left Soft Key to add contacts.

– Block Contacts: Press Center Soft Key (OK) and Left Soft Key to add blocked number, press Right Soft Key to save.

– Import contacts: Import from memory card, Gmail, outlook.

– Export contacts: Export to memory card, and Bluetooth.

– Add Account: Synchronize contacts, data, etc., from multiple accounts.


How do I send a text message (SMS)?

1. Press the Messages Key, or from the Home screen, press the Center Soft Key (OK) and select Messages.

2. Press the Left Soft Key to write a new message.

3. Enter the phone number of the recipient in the To bar or press the Left Soft Key to add recipients from contacts.

4. Use the Navigation Key to go to the SMS bar and enter the text of the message using the keypad or voice input (Press and hold Center Soft Key).

5. Press the Left Soft Key to send the message.


How do I input text?

Press the # key to switch between input methods:

Abc (sentence case), abc (lower case), or ABC (caps lock case): Press each key multiple times to select a letter (e.g., press ‘7’ four times for ‘S’).

Predictive: Type faster as the phone predicts words. Press keys once per letter (e.g., 4-3-5-5-6 for “Hello”). Word suggestions appear; use the Navigation Key and Center Soft Key (OK) to select.

123: Generates only numbers. Press keys once per digit.

Symbols: Access punctuation and special characters. Press the * key to access symbols. Use the Navigation Key to find the symbol and press the Center Soft Key (OK) to select.

Voice Input: Press and hold the Center Soft Key (OK) to speak your text.

Delete Text: Press the Back/Delete Key to delete characters one by one. Long press to delete all at once.


How do I send a multimedia message (MMS)?

1. While composing a text message, press the Right Soft Key.

2. Select Add attachment.

3. Choose the type of media file (image, video, audio, contact, etc.) to attach.

4. An SMS will automatically convert to MMS when media files or email addresses are added.

Note: An SMS over 160 characters or containing special characters may be charged as multiple SMS.


How do I set up and use E-Mail?

Setup E-Mail:

1. Access E-Mail by pressing the Center Soft Key (OK) from the Home screen and selecting E-Mail.

2. An email wizard will guide you. Press the Right Soft Key to continue.

3. Enter the name and email address for the account.

4. Press the Right Soft Key to access Next.

5. Enter the password for the account and press the Right Soft Key.

6. If the account isn’t provided by your service provider, you may be prompted for manual setup.

7. To add another email account, press the Right Soft Key > Options > Settings, then select Add.

Send E-Mail:

1. From the Inbox screen, press the Left Soft Key to compose a new email.

2. Enter recipient(s) email address(es) in the To field. Press the Center Soft Key (OK) to confirm and add more recipients if needed.

3. Type the subject and the content of the message. You can use voice input by pressing and holding the Center Soft Key (OK).

4. If necessary, press the Right Soft Key to Add cc/bcc or Add attachment.

5. To save the email without sending, press the Right Soft Key and select Save as draft.

6. To send the email, press the Left Soft Key.


What should I do if I see a “password incorrect” error when setting up Gmail?

Review the following options:

Option 1: Generate an App password

If you use 2-Step Verification, an App password (a 16-digit passcode) might be needed.

1. Visit your App passwords page: https://myaccount.google.com/security/signinoptions/two-step-verification (You might need to sign in).

2. At the bottom, click Select app and choose the app you’re using.

3. Click Select device and choose the device you’re using.

4. Select Generate.

5. Follow the instructions to enter the App password (16-character code in the yellow bar) on your device.

6. Select Done.

If this doesn’t fix the issue, try Option 2 or 3.

Option 2: Change settings to allow less secure apps

1. Go to the “Less secure apps” section in your Google Account: https://www.google.com/settings/security/lesssecureapps.

2. Next to “Access for less secure apps,” select Turn on.

3. Try setting up your email again using your username and password.

If you still see the error, proceed to Option 3.

Option 3: Access Gmail through browser

If you prefer not to change security settings:

Access the Camera: Press the Center Soft Key (OK) from the Home screen and select Camera.

App Permission: Upon first use, you’ll be asked for location permission. Press Center Soft Key (OK) to Allow or Left Soft Key to Deny.

Take a picture:

1. Position the object/landscape in the screen.

2. Press the Center Soft Key (OK) to take the photo. Photos are saved to the Gallery app.

3. After taking the photo, press the Left Soft Key to preview.

Zoom in/out: Press Up or Down on the Navigation key.

Photo Options (Press Right Soft Key): Use Left/Right Navigation key to select:

– Camera Resolution: High, Standard, or Low.

– Self Timer: Set a delay before the photo is taken after pressing Center Soft Key (OK).

– Grid: Add grid lines to the screen.

– Gallery: Go to the Gallery Application.

– Modes: Switch between Photo and Video mode.

Record a video:

1. Switch to Video mode using the Modes option or by pressing Left/Right Navigation key.

2. Press Up or Down on the Navigation Key to zoom.

3. Press the Center Soft Key (OK) to start recording.

4. Press Center Soft Key (OK) again to stop recording. Videos are saved to the Video app.

Launch Voice Assistant:

– Method 1: From the Home screen, Press and hold the Center Soft Key (OK) on the keypad.

– Method 2: Press the Center Soft Key (OK) to access applications, navigate to KaiVA, and press the Center Soft Key (OK) again.

Using Voice Assistant:

1. When the “Voice Assistant Listening…” screen appears, speak your command loud and clear.

2. Voice Assistant will display your spoken words and guide you. For web links, use the Navigation Key and Center Soft Key (OK) to open.

Making Calls with Voice Assistant:

1. Press the Right Soft Key from the Home screen or select Contacts.

2. When the cursor is in the search contacts section, press and hold the Center Soft Key (OK) until “Voice Assistant Listening…” appears.

3. Speak the name of the contact. A list of matching contacts will appear.

Sending Texts with Voice Assistant:

1. Press the Messages Key or select Messages from the menu. Select New.

2. Place the cursor in the To section, press and hold the Center Soft Key (OK), and speak the recipient’s name. Use the Navigation Key and Center Soft Key (OK) to select.

3. Move the cursor to the message body, press and hold the Center Soft Key (OK), wait for “Voice Assistant Listening…”, and speak one sentence at a time. You can edit the text manually.

Composing Emails with Voice Assistant: Speak clearly into the microphone, adding one sentence at a time while composing an email.

Other Voice Commands:

1. Open Voice Assistant.

2. Speak commands like:

– “What’s the weather today?”

– “Where is the nearest grocery store?”

– “Find a pizza restaurant”

– “Show me the news from Chicago”


How do I use the Calculator?

1. From the Home screen, press the Center Soft Key (OK) and select Utilities > Calculator.

2. Use the number keys (0-9) to input numbers.

3. Use the * key for decimal point.

4. Use the # key for +/- sign.

Create Task List: Press the Left Soft Key, enter a task list name, then press the Right Soft Key (Create).

Add Task: Select a task list by pressing the Center Soft Key (OK). Press the Left Soft Key, enter the task name, then press the Right Soft Key (Save).

Manage Tasks: Select a task list, then press the Right Soft Key for Options (Edit, Delete, Delete all the task).

Check/Uncheck Task: Select a task and press the Center Soft Key (OK) to toggle between CHECKED and UNCHECKED.


How do I use the Recorder?

1. From the Home screen, press the Center Soft Key (OK) and select Utilities > Recorder.

Record: Press the Left Soft Key to start recording. Press the Right Soft Key (Done) to stop.

Playback: Use the Navigation Key to select a recording. Press the Center Soft Key (OK) twice to play.

Options: Select a recording and press the Right Soft Key for options like delete, share, select multiple, rename, save as ringtone, save to music library, or Settings (to set recording rate).


How do I use the Gallery?

1. Access the Gallery by pressing the Center Soft Key (OK) from the Home screen and selecting Gallery.

2. Press the Left Soft Key to switch between Favorites and the main Gallery list.

3. Use the Navigation Key to select an image.

– Delete: Delete the selected photo.

– Edit: Adjust exposure, rotate, crop, add filters, and auto-correct.

Press the Left Soft Key (-) to add a new alarm. The following options will appear:

• Time: Select to set the alarm time.

• Repeat: Select the days you want your alarm to go off.

• Sound: Select a ringtone for the alarm.

• Vibrate: Select to activate vibration.

• Alarm name: Press to enter a name for the alarm.

• When the Timer is ongoing, press the Center Soft Key (OK) to pause and continue the Timer. Press the Right Soft Key (-) to add 1 minute.

• When the Timer is paused, press the Left Soft Key (-) to reset the Timer.

Press the Right Soft Key (-) to enter Settings, allowing you to set snooze, volume, activate vibrate, and select sound.

From the Home screen, press the Center Soft Key (OK) and select Clock > Stopwatch.

• Press the Center Soft Key (OK) to start the Stopwatch.

Using the Music menu, you can play music files stored in your phone. Music files can be downloaded from your computer to the phone using a USB cable.

Video acts as a media player for you to view videos. From the Home screen, press the Center Soft Key (OK) and select Video.

• Press the Left Soft Key (-) to enter Camera to take a video.

How do I use the FM Radio?

Your phone is equipped with a radio with RDS functionality. You can use the application as a traditional radio with saved channels or with parallel visual information related to the radio program on the display if you tune to stations that offer Visual Radio service.

To access this function, press the Center Soft Key (OK) from the Home screen and select FM Radio.

To use it, you must plug in your headset, which works as an antenna when connected to your phone.

• Press left/right of the Navigation Key to decrease or increase the frequency by 0.1MHz.


How do I manage FM Radio channels and audio output?

• Long press left/right of the Navigation Key to search and go to the nearest lower/higher frequency channel.

• Press the Right Soft Key (-) to add the channel to favorites. A red star will be added to the station in the channel list. Press the Right Soft Key (-) again to edit favorites channel or switch to speaker.


How do I access the File Manager?

What can I do with the File Manager?

File Manager displays all data stored on the phone and the microSD card, including applications, media files downloaded from Store, YouTube or other locations; videos, pictures or audios you have captured; other data transferred via Bluetooth, USB cable, etc.

When you download an application from PC to phone/microSD card, you can locate the application using File Manager, then touch it to install it in your phone.

File Manager allows you to perform common operations: create (sub) folder, open folder/file, view, rename, move, copy, delete, play, share, etc.

Use the Calendar to keep track of important meetings, appointments, etc.

To access this function, press the Center Soft Key (OK) from the Home screen and select Calendar.


How do I change the Calendar view?

You can display the Calendar in Day, Week, or Month view. Press the Right Soft Key (-) to change your Calendar view.


How do I create a new event in the Calendar?

Press the Left Soft Key (-) to add new events from any Calendar view.
