What is the intended use of the TCHIBO 692 036 Solar Outdoor Light?
The TCHIBO 692 036 is suitable for decoration only and not for lighting whole rooms. It is designed for permanent outdoor use. However, you should take it inside in the event of strong winds. The product is designed for private use and is not suitable for commercial purposes.
What are the key safety warnings for the TCHIBO 692 036?
Danger to children:
• Swallowing rechargeable batteries can be fatal. If a rechargeable battery is swallowed, this can lead to severe internal chemical burns and even death within 2 hours. Therefore, keep both new and old rechargeable batteries as well as the product itself out of the reach of children. If you think that a battery has been swallowed or has got into the body in any other way, seek medical advice immediately.
• The product is not a toy! Keep the ground spikes out of the reach of children.
• Keep the packaging materials out of the reach of children. They pose several risks, including the risk of suffocation!
Risk of injury:
• Do not operate the product using standard, non-rechargeable batteries. Risk of explosion!
• Rechargeable batteries must not be taken apart, thrown into fire or short-circuited.
• If a rechargeable battery has leaked, avoid contact with skin, eyes and mucous membranes. If necessary, rinse the affected areas with plenty of clean water and consult a doctor immediately.
Material damage:
• The product complies with protection type IP44. This means that the product is protected against contact with tools, wires and foreign objects with a diameter larger than 1 mm and splashes of water, such as rain. However, you should protect it from heavy rain and streams of water. Never use the product under water; this would cause an immediate short circuit and poses the risk of electric shock.
• Do not make any modifications to the product. Only have repairs carried out by a specialist workshop.
• Do not use the product if it shows any visible signs of damage.
• Do not stick anything to, cover or paint the solar module.
• The product must not be electrically connected to other fairy lights or anything similar.
• Make sure that the water drainage openings on the bottom of the solar module remain unobstructed at all times so that condensation can drain off.
• Remove the rechargeable battery from the product when it is spent or if you are not planning to use the product for a long period of time. This will help prevent damage caused by leakage.
• Due to the extremely long service life of the light-emitting diodes, it is not necessary to replace them. They cannot and must not be replaced. The LEDs are firmly built into the solar light. Opening the product will damage it.
• Never use caustic or abrasive products or hard brushes, etc. for cleaning.
• The product is suitable for outdoor use from a minimum temperature of approx. -10°C. If the temperature falls below this level, store the product inside, otherwise it may become damaged.
Where is the best place to set up the TCHIBO 692 036 solar light?
Since the light relies on sunlight, you will need to take the following points into consideration:
• Place the solar module in a sunny location. Choose a site where the solar module will be exposed to direct sunlight for as long as possible during the day.
• Avoid positioning the solar module in a fully, or mainly shady location (beneath trees, roof ridges, etc.). Do not set up the solar module on the north side of a building where it would not attract sufficient sunlight during the day.
• The solar module should not be continuously exposed to other sources of light during the night, for example strong spotlights in a driveway or garage entrance, etc. Keep in mind that many light sources only switch on at night, such as those activated by a timer or motion sensor.
• Insert the ground spike for the solar module and the ground spikes for the solar light into the ground, driving them as deeply into firm earth as possible to ensure that the solar module and the light stay upright even in strong wind.
How do I assemble the TCHIBO 692 036?
Put the parts of the product together as illustrated in the chapter “At a glance (contents)”:
1. Put together the ground spike belonging to the solar module.
2. Screw the ground spike to the solar module.
3. Insert the ground spikes for the solar light into the openings on the underside of the solar light.
4. Insert the connection plug on the solar light into the connection socket on the solar module and tighten the lock nut.
5. Push the solar module into the earth using the ground spike.
6. Drive the solar light into the earth by its ground spikes.
7. Position the solar module in such a way that it can collect as much sunlight as possible.
How do I operate the TCHIBO 692 036 solar light?
• To activate the solar light, slide the On/Off switch on the bottom of the solar module to ON. In this standard setting, the solar light will switch on and off fully automatically:
– The solar light switches on at dusk.
– The solar light switches off at dawn.
• To deactivate the solar light, slide the On/Off switch on the bottom of the solar module to OFF. The solar light is now switched off. The rechargeable battery will continue to charge whenever there is sufficient light.
How do I charge the battery for the TCHIBO 692 036?
• Make sure that the solar module is provided with as much light as possible. If necessary, adjust the position of the solar module.
• Depending on the weather and intensity of the sun, it can take a few hours for the solar module to fully charge the battery.
• During the winter or after a successive number of cloudy days, you may find that the battery is not sufficiently charged. Switch the solar light off for a few days. The rechargeable battery will continue to charge even when the solar light is switched off.
How should I clean the TCHIBO 692 036?
NOTICE – material damage: Do not use any caustic, aggressive or abrasive products for cleaning.
If necessary, wipe all parts with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Then rub all parts dry with a soft, dry cloth.
What should I do if my TCHIBO 692 036 solar light does not light up or is dim?
• Are the surroundings too bright?
Check whether other sources of light (for example, street lights or time or motion sensor-controlled outdoor lights) are shining onto the solar module. If necessary, change the location.
• Is the solar module provided with sufficient sunlight?
Readjust the position of the solar module or change its location if necessary.
• The rechargeable battery is not fully charged:
Switch the solar light off for a few days so that the rechargeable battery can be fully recharged.
• The rechargeable battery is flat:
Replace the rechargeable battery as described in the chapter “Removing / replacing the rechargeable battery”.
• The LED is faulty.
The LEDs are firmly built in and cannot be replaced.
Why does the performance of my TCHIBO 692 036 vary depending on the season?
This is due to weather conditions and is not a fault. Weather conditions are best during the summer and rather unfavourable in the winter.
How do I remove or replace the rechargeable battery in the TCHIBO 692 036?
NOTICE – material damage: The solar module itself and the 4 screws are fitted with seals. To safeguard the product’s watertightness, ensure that the seals sit snugly and are clean.
The rechargeable battery is designed for long-term operation. However, after a long period of use it may need to be replaced. Rechargeable batteries are subject to standard wear and tear, and performance can diminish.
1. Unscrew the solar module from the ground spike.
2. Slide the On/Off switch to OFF.
3. Use a Phillips screwdriver to loosen the screws on the bottom of the solar module and carefully remove the cover. Be careful not to rip off any cables!

Dispose of the packaging at a recycling point that sorts materials by type. Make use of the local facilities provided for collecting paper, cardboard and lightweight packaging.
Appliances, single-use batteries and rechargeable batteries marked with this symbol must not be disposed of along with household waste! You are legally obliged to dispose of old appliances separately from household waste. Electronic appliances contain hazardous substances and, if stored or disposed of improperly, may cause harm to health or the environment. Information about collection points where old appliances can be disposed of free of charge is available from your local authorities.
