Do not use the SONY MDR-ZX770BN headset while driving, cycling, or operating any motorized vehicle. Also, do not use your headset in any other place where it would be dangerous if you are unable to hear ambient sound.

The unit is not waterproof. If water or foreign objects enter the unit, it may result in fire or electric shock. If water or a foreign object enters the unit, stop use immediately and consult your nearest Sony dealer. In particular, be careful in the following cases:

– When using the unit around a sink, etc. Be careful that the unit does not fall into a sink or other container filled with water.

– When using the unit in the rain or snow, or in humid locations.

– When using the unit while you are sweaty. If you touch the unit with wet hands, or put the unit in the pocket of a damp article of clothing, the unit may get wet.

Static electricity accumulated in the body may cause mild tingling in your ears. To minimize the effect, wear clothes made from natural materials.

Do not subject the unit to excessive shock.

When you use the unit as wired headphones, use the supplied headphone cable only. Make sure to insert the headphone cable plug firmly.

BLUETOOTH wireless technology operates within a range of about 10 m (30 feet). Maximum communication range may vary depending on obstacles (human body, metal, wall, etc.) or electromagnetic environment.

The antenna is built into the unit. By covering the antenna with your hands or other objects, the BLUETOOTH communications may be interrupted.

If you connect a BLUETOOTH device with a built-in radio or tuner to the unit, broadcasts may not be received or the sensitivity may be reduced.

BLUETOOTH communications may be disabled, or noise or audio dropout may occur under the following conditions:

– When there is a human body between the unit and the BLUETOOTH device. This situation may be improved by placing the BLUETOOTH device facing the antenna of the unit.

– When there is an obstacle, such as metal or a wall, between the unit and the BLUETOOTH device.

– When a Wi-Fi device or microwave oven is in use, or microwaves are emitted near the unit.

– Because BLUETOOTH devices and Wi-Fi (IEEE802.11b/g/n) use the same frequency (2.4 GHz), microwave interference may occur resulting in noise or audio dropout or communications being disabled if this unit is used near a Wi-Fi device. In such a case, perform the following:

– Use this unit at least 10 m (30 feet) away from the Wi-Fi device.

– If this unit is used within 10 m (30 feet) of a Wi-Fi device, turn off the Wi-Fi device.

– Install this unit and the BLUETOOTH device as near to each other as possible.

Microwaves emitting from a BLUETOOTH device may affect the operation of electronic medical devices. Turn off this unit and other BLUETOOTH devices in the following locations, as it may cause an accident:

– where inflammable gas is present, in a hospital, or a plane, or near automatic doors or a fire alarm.

Due to the characteristic of the wireless technology, the sound played on this unit is delayed from the sound and music played on the sending device. Therefore, the image and sound may be misaligned when viewing a movie or playing a game.

This product emits radio waves when used in wireless mode. When used in wireless mode on an airplane, follow flight crew instructions regarding permissible use of products in wireless mode.

This SONY MDR-ZX770BN unit cannot be turned on, nor can the BLUETOOTH function and noise canceling function be used, while charging.

If you do not use the unit for a long time, the rechargeable battery may not be able to keep a sufficient charge. The battery will be able to keep a charge properly after repeatedly discharging and charging several times. When storing the unit for a long time, charge the battery once every half year to prevent over-discharge.

If the period you can use the unit becomes extremely short, the rechargeable battery should be replaced with a new one.

The charging time may differ depending on the remaining charge of the battery or the charging conditions.

The charging temperature range is between 5 °C and 35 °C (41 °F to 95 °F). Charging outside of this range may cause problems.

The noise canceling circuit actually senses outside noise with built-in microphones and sends an equal-but-opposite canceling signal to the unit.

The noise canceling effect may not be pronounced in a very quiet environment, or some noise may be heard.

The noise canceling effect may vary depending on how you wear the unit. When you use the unit in a car or a bus, noise may occur depending on street conditions.

The noise canceling function works for noise in the low frequency band primarily. Although noise is reduced, it is not canceled completely.

When you use the unit on a train or a car, noise may occur depending on street conditions.

Mobile phones may cause interference and noise. Should this occur, locate the unit further away from the mobile phone.

Do not cover the microphone of the headset (NC) with your hand. The noise canceling function may not work properly.

If the SONY MDR-ZX770BN headset cannot be turned on or if it cannot be operated even when it is turned on, reset the unit.

Press the POWER button and the NC button simultaneously while the unit is connected using the micro-USB cable. The unit will be reset. Pairing information is not deleted.

If you experience problems with the SONY MDR-ZX770BN, first try resetting the unit. If problems persist after resetting the unit, try the following checks. If the problem still persists, consult your nearest Sony dealer.

The unit cannot be turned on.

Charge the unit. If the unit does not turn on even after charging, reset the unit.

Charging cannot be done.

Check that the micro-USB cable is connected firmly to the unit and the computer. Check that the computer is on and not in standby, hibernation, or sleep mode. If the computer is in one of these modes, charging may not be done properly.

The unit cannot be operated or does not function as expected.

Reset the unit.

No sound

– Check that both this unit and the connecting device (e.g., smartphone) are turned on.

– Turn up the volume of both this unit and the connecting device.

– Check that the unit and BLUETOOTH device are connected via A2DP BLUETOOTH connection. If not, make the A2DP connection.

– When using a video calling application on a computer, check that the connection is made to a BLUETOOTH device that supports a communication profile such as HFP or HSP. If you are listening to music on the computer, check that the connection is made via an A2DP connection.

Sound is skipping or the sound quality is bad.

– Place the unit as close as possible to the BLUETOOTH device.

– The situation may be improved by changing the wireless playback quality settings on the BLUETOOTH device.

– Remove any obstacles between this unit and the BLUETOOTH device.

– Keep this unit away from a Wi-Fi device, microwave oven, television, or other devices that emit radio waves.

Pairing cannot be done.

– Bring this unit and the BLUETOOTH device within 1 m (3 feet) of each other.

– When pairing a device for the first time after purchase, or after resetting or repairing the unit, this unit automatically enters pairing mode when turned on. To pair a second or subsequent device, press and hold the POWER button for more than 7 seconds to enter pairing mode.

– Check the pairing procedure in the user manual of the BLUETOOTH device.

– Erase the pairing information on the BLUETOOTH device and perform pairing again.

You can charge the SONY MDR-ZX770BN battery using a computer with a USB port that is running any of the following operating systems and a pre-installed USB port.
