Connect the SONY MDR-ZX770BN and a booted computer using the supplied micro-USB cable. When the unit and the computer are connected, charging starts and the indicator (red) lights up. Charging is completed in about 2.5 hours at most and the indicator (red) goes off automatically.

Notes:

• Use the micro-USB cable supplied. You may not be able to charge the unit with other cables.

• Charging will not be completed properly if the computer enters into hibernation or standby mode while connected to the unit. If this happens, change the settings of the computer and charge the unit again.

By touching the SONY MDR-ZX770BN with a smartphone, the unit is turned on automatically and proceeds to pair and connect via BLUETOOTH.

1. Set the NFC function of the smartphone to on. For details, refer to the operating instructions supplied with the smartphone.

• If your smartphone OS is Android 2.3.3 or later, and less than Android 4.1 (excluding Android 3.x): proceed to step 2.

• If your smartphone OS is Android 4.1 or later: proceed to step 4.

2. Download and install the app “NFC Easy Connect.” “NFC Easy Connect” is a free Android app. The App may not be available in some countries and/or regions.

3. Start the app “NFC Easy Connect” on the smartphone. One-touch connection is possible only when the app screen is displayed on the smartphone.

4. Touch this unit with the smartphone. Unlock the screen of the smartphone beforehand. Touch the smartphone on the N marked part of this unit. Keep touching the unit with the smartphone until the smartphone reacts. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the pairing and connection.

The SONY MDR-ZX770BN is compatible with NFC-compatible smartphones with Android™ 2.3.3 or later installed (excluding Android 3.x).

To disconnect, touch the smartphone to the N-marked part of the SONY MDR-ZX770BN again.

To connect the SONY MDR-ZX770BN with a paired smartphone, perform step 4 of the one-touch connection process (touch the smartphone on the N marked part of the unit). If you are using the app “NFC Easy Connect,” you must perform steps 3 and 4 (start the app, then touch the devices together).

1. Place the BLUETOOTH device within 1 m (3 feet) of the SONY MDR-ZX770BN.

2. Enter pairing mode on this unit. Press and hold the POWER button for about 7 seconds. Make sure that the indicator flashes blue and red alternately after you release the button.

3. Perform the pairing procedure on the BLUETOOTH device to detect this unit. When the list of detected devices appears on the display of the BLUETOOTH device, select “MDR-ZX770BN.” If passkey input is required on the display of the BLUETOOTH device, input “0000.”

4. Make the BLUETOOTH connection from the BLUETOOTH device.

1. Turn on the unit. Press and hold the POWER button for about 2 seconds while this unit is turned off. Make sure that the indicator flashes blue after you release the button.

2. Make the BLUETOOTH connection from the BLUETOOTH device.

1. Put on the headset. The left unit and the VOL- button have a tactile dot. Use them as a guide.

2. Start playback on the BLUETOOTH device.

3. Operate the headset. To play or pause, press the button (with the tactile dot) once.

Notes:

• The exact functions may vary depending on the BLUETOOTH device. When you press the button, the operation may be different or may not work. Please refer to your BLUETOOTH device’s operating instructions.

• The sound quality is fixed to the standard mode (SBC high quality mode) when listening to music from a connected device that supports codecs other than SBC (e.g., AAC). It may be possible to listen to music with the original sound quality by operating the connected device.

Operate your mobile phone to make a call.

To receive a call: Press the button on the left unit when an incoming call arrives.

To end a call: Press the button on the unit again.

Note: The music playback pauses during a call and automatically restarts when the call is over. However, depending on your BLUETOOTH mobile phone, music playback may not automatically restart.

Enter the noise canceling mode on this unit. Press the NC button while the unit is turned on. When the unit is turned on, the noise canceling function is also turned on.

To turn off the noise canceling function, press the NC button again.

When the unit is turned off, the noise canceling function also turns off.

About the AI noise canceling function:

The AI (Artificial Intelligence) Noise Canceling function automatically selects the most effective noise canceling mode by analyzing ambient sound components. To activate this function, press and hold the NC button for about 2 seconds. A beep will sound. To deactivate this function, press and hold the NC button for about 2 seconds again.

The AI noise canceling function analyzes ambient sound and automatically selects one of three noise canceling modes for the most effective setting.

Noise canceling mode types

• NC Mode A: This mode provides the most effective noise canceling in low-frequency ranges. This is effective for noise on an airplane, train, or in an office. (default setting)

• NC Mode B: This mode is effective for ambient sound in the middle frequency ranges. This is effective for noise on a bus or subway.

• NC Mode C: This mode effectively reduces ambient sound in a relatively quiet and wide frequency band. This is effective for noise like in an office.

You can use the unit as ordinary wired headphones by connecting the supplied headphone cable. Plug the L-shaped plug into the audio device, and the straight plug into the unit.

Notes:

• The BLUETOOTH function cannot be used when the headphone cable is connected. This includes operations like starting/stopping play or hands-free talking.

• The noise canceling function can be used only when the headphone cable is connected and the unit is turned on.

• When using this unit with the cable, the sound quality is fixed to the SBC codec, no matter which codec is supported by your player.

• When the built-in rechargeable battery becomes empty, the unit can be used as a pair of ordinary passive headphones. In this case, the noise canceling function cannot be used.

• You may not be able to operate this unit with some smartphones.
