Before using your PHONAK AUDEO MM-RT TRIAL hearing aid for the first time, it is recommended to charge it for 3 hours. The hearing aid contains a built-in and non-removable rechargeable lithium-ion battery. Please ensure the hearing aid is dry before charging.

Step 1. Insert the hearing aid into the charging inserts. Make sure the left (blue) and right (red) hearing aid markings match the indicators next to the charging inserts. The hearing aids will automatically be muted when inserted into the charger.

Step 2. The indicator light on the hearing aid will show the charging state of the battery until it is fully charged. When fully charged, the indicator light will remain on as a solid green light.

Step 3. The charging process will automatically stop when the batteries are fully charged, so the hearing aids can be safely left in the charger. It can take up to 3 hours to charge the hearing aids. The charger covers can be closed while charging.

The indicator light on the hearing aid shows the charging state while it is in the charger.

To remove the hearing aids from the charging inserts, first pull the hearing aids gently toward yourself, and then lift them out of the charger. Do not hold the tubes to remove the hearing aids as this can damage the tubes.

The hearing aid switches on automatically when removed from the charger. The indicator light starts blinking, and a solid green light indicates the hearing aid is ready.

If you unplug the charger while the hearing aid is charging inside, please make sure to turn off the hearing aid to prevent discharge. Turn off your hearing aid before inserting it in the disconnected charger to store it.

The Power Pack is only compatible with the Charger Case Combi.

Step 1. Attach the Power Pack to the bottom of the Charger Case Combi and lock it.

Step 2. To charge, plug the micro-USB cable into the Power Pack and connect to an external power supply. The Power Pack and hearing aids will be charged at the same time. While connected, the Power Pack indicator light will show its current battery charge status.

Note: Before using the Power Pack for the first time, it is recommended to charge it for 3 hours.

To check the remaining battery capacity of the Power Pack, press the battery check push button. The indicator lights will show the status:

• One light: 0%-29%

•• Two lights: 30%-59%

••• Three lights: 60%-100%

There is a red or blue marking on the back of the hearing aid and on the speaker. This will tell you if it is a left or a right hearing aid.

• Blue marking for left hearing aid.

• Red marking for right hearing aid.

Step 1. Place the hearing aid behind your ear.

Step 2. Insert the earpiece into your ear canal.

Step 3. If there is an anchor attached to the earpiece, tuck it into the bowl of your ear to secure your hearing aid.

Pull on the bend of the tube and remove the hearing aid from behind the ear.

The multi-function button has several functions. It functions as an on/off switch, a volume control, and/or a program change depending on the hearing aid programming. If the hearing aid is paired with a Bluetooth enabled phone, a short press on the upper or the lower part of the button will accept an incoming call and a long press will reject an incoming call.

Switch on hearing aid: The hearing aid is configured to switch on automatically when removed from the charger. If this function is not configured, firmly press and hold the lower part of the button for 3 seconds until the indicator light blinks. Wait until the solid green light indicates the hearing aid is ready.

Switch off hearing aid: Press and hold the lower part of the button for 3 seconds until the solid red light indicates the hearing is off.

It is only necessary to perform the pairing procedure once with each device. After the initial pairing, your hearing aids will connect automatically to the device, which can take up to 2 minutes.

Step 1. On your device (e.g., a phone), ensure that Bluetooth wireless technology is enabled and search for Bluetooth enabled devices in the connectivity setting menu.

Step 2. Switch on both hearing aids. You now have 3 minutes to pair your hearing aids with your device.

Step 3. Your device shows a list of Bluetooth enabled devices. Select the hearing aid from the list to simultaneously pair both hearing aids. A beep confirms successful pairing.

Your hearing aids can be paired to up to two devices.

When your PHONAK AUDEO MM-RT TRIAL hearing aids are paired and connected to your phone, you will hear the caller’s voice directly in your hearing aids. The hearing aids pick up your voice through their own microphones.

Making a call: Enter the phone number and press the dial button. You will hear the dialing tone through your hearing aids.

Accepting a call: When receiving a call, a notification will be heard in the hearing aids. The call can be accepted by a short press (less than 2 seconds) on the upper or lower part of the multi-function button, or directly on your phone.

Ending a call: A call can be ended by a long press (more than 2 seconds) on the upper or lower part of the multi-function button, or directly on your phone.

Rejecting a call: An incoming call can be rejected by a long press (more than 2 seconds) on the upper or lower part of the multi-function button, or directly on your phone.

Entering flight mode disables the Bluetooth connectivity functions but does not disable normal hearing aid functionality. In flight mode, your hearing aid cannot connect directly to your phone.

To enter flight mode:

Step 1. If the hearing aid is on, turn it off by pressing and holding the lower part of the button for 3 seconds, until the indicator light turns solid red for 2 seconds.

Step 2. Press and hold the lower part of the button. The green indicator light blinks when the hearing aid starts up.

Step 3. Keep pressing the button for 7 seconds, until the indicator light is solid orange, then release the button. The solid orange light indicates the hearing aid is in flight mode.

To exit flight mode:

Switch the hearing aid off and then on again.

This technique will not remove or delete any program or settings.

Step 1. Press the lower part of the button for at least 15 seconds. It does not matter if the hearing aid is switched on or off before you start. There is no light or acoustic notification at the end of the 15 seconds.

Step 2. Place the hearing aid in the power-connected charger and wait until the indicator light blinks green. This can take up to 30 seconds. The hearing aid is now ready to use.

Always make sure that the hearing aids and charger are dry and clean before charging. Always make sure that the charger is disconnected from the power mains before cleaning.

Daily Care:

• Hearing aid: Inspect the earpiece for earwax and moisture deposits. Clean the surfaces with a lint-free cloth. Never use cleaning agents such as household detergents or soap.

• Chargers: Make sure that charger inserts are clean. Never use cleaning agents such as household detergents or soap for cleaning your charger.

Weekly Care:

• Hearing aid: Clean the earpiece with a soft, damp cloth or with a special cleaning cloth for hearing aids. Clean the charging contacts on the hearing aid with a soft, damp cloth.

• Chargers: Remove dust or dirt from the charger inserts.

The earwax protection should be replaced every four to eight weeks, or if it looks dirty, or if the hearing aid volume or sound quality is reduced.

Removing the earpiece from the speaker:

Step 1. Hold the speaker in one hand and the earpiece in the other.

Step 2. Gently pull off the earpiece to remove.

Step 3. Clean the speaker with a lint-free cloth.

Exchanging the earwax protection with CeruShield Disk:

Step 1. Gently rotate the CeruShield Disk in the direction indicated by the arrows until a free opening appears under the bin icon.

Step 2. To remove a used earwax protector, carefully insert the speaker into the free opening (under bin icon) until it clicks.

Step 3. To insert a new earwax protector, carefully insert the speaker into the opening where the new earwax protector is visible (opposite the bin icon) until it clicks.

Attaching the earpiece to the speaker:

Step 1. Hold the speaker in one hand and the earpiece in the other.

Step 2. Slide the earpiece over the speaker sound outlet.

Step 3. The speaker and the earpiece should fit perfectly together.

Charging Temperature: +5° to +40° Celsius (41° to 104° Fahrenheit)

Operating Atmospheric Pressure: 800 hPa to 1060 hPa

Operating Humidity (Charger/Power Pack): 0% to 85% (non condensing)

Water Resistance: The hearing aids are classified IP68 (depth of 1 meter for 60 minutes) and can be exposed to rain or sweat. However, they are not intended for water activities involving chlorinated water, soap, salt water or other liquids with chemical content.

If your hearing aid is not functioning, check for the following causes and solutions:

• Cause: Speaker/earpiece blocked. Solution: Clean speaker opening/earpiece.

• Cause: Hearing aid switched off. Solution: Press the lower part of the multi-function button for 3 seconds to turn it on.

• Cause: Battery fully discharged. Solution: Charge the hearing aid.

Whistling can be caused by the following:

• Cause: Hearing aid not inserted correctly into ear. Solution: Insert the hearing aid correctly.

• Cause: Cerumen (earwax) in the ear canal. Solution: Contact your ENT/GP or hearing care professional.

• Problem: Hearing aid too loud. Solution: Decrease the volume if volume control is available.

• Problem: Hearing aid not loud enough or distorted. Check the following:

• Cause: Volume too low. Solution: Increase the volume if volume control is available.

• Cause: Low battery. Solution: Charge the hearing aid.

• Cause: Speaker/earpiece blocked. Solution: Clean speaker opening/earpiece.

• Cause: Hearing has changed. Solution: Contact your hearing care professional.

Two beeps is an indication for low battery. You will have approximately 60 minutes before you have to charge the hearing aids. You should charge the hearing aid.

If your hearing aid will not switch on, check for these possible causes:

• Cause: Battery fully discharged. Solution: Charge the hearing aid.

• Cause: The button was inadvertently deactivated by pressing it for longer than 15 seconds. Solution: Perform step 2 of the rebooting process (place the hearing aid in the power-connected charger and wait for the green light to blink).

If the indicator light on the hearing aid does not light up when placed in the charging inserts, check these possible causes:

• Cause: Hearing aid not inserted correctly into the charger. Solution: Insert the hearing aid correctly into the charger.

• Cause: Charger not connected to a power source. Solution: Connect the charger to an external power supply.

• Cause: Battery fully discharged. Solution: Wait three hours after placing the hearing aid in the charger, regardless of the LED behavior.

A solid red light while the hearing aid is in the charger can indicate several issues:

• Cause: Dirty charging contacts. Solution: Clean the contacts of the hearing aid and the charger.

• Cause: Hearing aid is out of its operating temperature range. Solution: Warm the hearing aid up. The operating temperature range is +5° to +40° Celsius (+41° to +104° Fahrenheit).

• Cause: Faulty battery. Solution: Contact your hearing care professional.

This may be due to a shortened battery life. Contact your hearing care professional. A battery replacement may be required.

If the phone call function is not working, check for the following:

• Cause: Hearing aid is in flight mode. Solution: Switch the hearing aid off and then on again to exit flight mode.

• Cause: Hearing aid not paired to the phone. Solution: Pair the hearing aid to the phone.

If charging does not start, check for the following issues:

Without Power Pack:

• Cause: Charger not connected to power supply. Solution: Connect charger to power supply.

• Cause: Hearing aid not inserted correctly into charger. Solution: Insert hearing aid correctly.

When using Power Pack:

• Cause: Power Pack is discharged. Solution: Charge the Power Pack.
