Before using your PHONAK AUDEO M30-R for the first time, it is recommended to charge it for 3 hours. After placing your hearing aid in the charger, the indicator light will show the charging state of the battery until the hearing aid is fully charged. When fully charged, the indicator light will be a solid green light.

To identify your left and right PHONAK AUDEO M30-R hearing aids, look for a colored marking on the back of the hearing aid and on the speaker.

• A blue marking indicates the left hearing aid.

• A red marking indicates the right hearing aid.

The multi-function button on your PHONAK AUDEO M30-R has several functions depending on its programming and the situation:

• On/Off switch: Press and hold the lower part of the button for 3 seconds to turn the device on or off.

• Volume control and/or program change: The button can be programmed to adjust volume or change programs.

• Phone calls: If paired with a Bluetooth enabled phone, a short press (less than 2 seconds) on the upper or lower part of the button will accept an incoming call. A long press (more than 2 seconds) will reject an incoming call or end an ongoing call.

Switching On:

The hearing aid is configured to switch on automatically when removed from the charger. If this function is not configured, firmly press and hold the lower part of the button for 3 seconds until the indicator light blinks green. A solid green light indicates the hearing aid is ready.

Switching Off:

Press and hold the lower part of the button for 3 seconds until the solid red light appears, which indicates the hearing aid is off.

The indicator lights will show the following:

• Blinking green: Hearing aid is switching on.

• Solid red for 2 seconds: Hearing aid is switching off.

To enter flight mode, which disables Bluetooth connectivity functions, follow these steps:

1. Make sure the hearing aid is turned off. If it is on, press and hold the lower part of the button for 3 seconds until the indicator light turns solid red.

2. With the device off, press and hold the lower part of the button. The green indicator light will blink as the hearing aid starts up.

3. Continue pressing the button for a total of 7 seconds, until the indicator light is solid orange, then release the button. The solid orange light indicates the hearing aid is in flight mode.

To enable the wireless function and exit flight mode on your PHONAK AUDEO M30-R, simply switch the hearing aid off and then on again.

To connect the power supply to the charger, follow these steps:

a) Plug the larger end of the charging cable into the power supply.

b) Plug the smaller end into the USB port on the charger.

c) Plug the power supply into a power outlet.

d) The indicator light on the charger will turn green when it is connected to the power supply.

1. Insert the hearing aids into the charging inserts. Make sure the left (blue) and right (red) hearing aid markings match the indicators next to the charging inserts.

2. The indicator light on the hearing aid will show the charging state. The charging process stops automatically when the batteries are fully charged.

3. To remove the hearing aids, gently pull them toward yourself and then lift them out of the charger. Do not pull on the tubes. The hearing aids will switch on automatically when removed.

The indicator light on the hearing aid shows the charging status. The approximate charging times are as follows:

Note: The Power Pack is only compatible with the Charger Case Combi.

1. Attach the Power Pack to the bottom of the Charger Case Combi and lock it.

2. To charge the Power Pack and hearing aids simultaneously, plug the micro-USB cable into the Power Pack and connect to an external power supply.

3. To check the remaining battery capacity of the Power Pack, press the battery check push button. The indicator lights will show the status:

• One light: 0%-29%

• Two lights: 30%-59%

• Three lights: 60%-100%

1. Place the hearing aid behind your ear.

2. Insert the earpiece into your ear canal.

3. If there is an anchor attached to the earpiece, tuck it into the bowl of your ear to secure your hearing aid.

To remove the hearing aid, pull on the bend of the tube and remove the hearing aid from behind the ear.

You only need to perform this pairing procedure once with each Bluetooth device.

1. On your device (e.g., a phone), enable Bluetooth and search for Bluetooth enabled devices in the connectivity settings menu.

2. Switch on both of your PHONAK AUDEO M30-R hearing aids. You now have 3 minutes to pair them with your device.

3. Your device will show a list of available Bluetooth devices. Select the hearing aid from the list to simultaneously pair both hearing aids. A beep will confirm successful pairing.

When your PHONAK AUDEO M30-R is paired and connected to your phone, you can manage calls directly from the hearing aids.

• Making a call: Enter the phone number on your phone and press the dial button. You will hear the dialing tone through your hearing aids.

• Accepting a call: When you receive a call, you will hear a notification. Accept the call with a short press (less than 2 seconds) on the upper or lower part of the multi-function button.

• Ending a call: End a call with a long press (more than 2 seconds) on the upper or lower part of the multi-function button.

• Rejecting a call: Reject an incoming call with a long press (more than 2 seconds) on the upper or lower part of the multi-function button.

If your hearing aid is in an error state, use this technique to reboot it. This will not delete any programs or settings.

1. Press the lower part of the button for at least 15 seconds. It does not matter if the hearing aid is on or off when you start. There will be no light or sound at the end of the 15 seconds.

2. Place the hearing aid in the power-connected charger and wait until the indicator light blinks green. This can take up to 30 seconds. The hearing aid is now ready to use.

Daily Care:

• Hearing Aid: Inspect the earpiece for earwax and moisture. Clean surfaces with a lint-free cloth. Do not use cleaning agents like soap or detergents.

• Chargers: Ensure the charger inserts are clean. Do not use cleaning agents.

Weekly Care:

• Hearing Aid: Clean the earpiece with a soft, damp cloth. Clean the charging contacts on the hearing aid with a soft, damp cloth.

• Chargers: Remove any dust or dirt from the charger inserts. Always make sure the charger is disconnected from power before cleaning.

The earwax protection should be replaced every four to eight weeks, or if it looks dirty or sound quality is reduced. This involves removing the earpiece, replacing the protector using the CeruShield Disk, and reattaching the earpiece.

Step 1: Removing the earpiece

1. Hold the speaker in one hand and the earpiece in the other.

2. Gently pull off the earpiece to remove it.

3. Clean the speaker with a lint-free cloth.

Step 2: Exchanging the protection with CeruShield Disk

1. Gently rotate the CeruShield Disk until a free opening appears under the bin icon.

2. To remove the used protector, carefully insert the speaker into this free opening until it clicks. The used protector is now in the disk.

3. To insert a new protector, carefully insert the speaker into the other opening (opposite the bin icon) where the new protector is visible, until it clicks.

Step 3: Attaching the earpiece

1. Hold the speaker in one hand and the earpiece in the other.

2. Slide the earpiece over the speaker sound outlet.

3. The speaker and earpiece should fit perfectly together.

If your hearing aid is not working, check for the following causes and apply the solution:

• Cause: Speaker/earpiece is blocked.
Solution: Clean the speaker opening/earpiece.

• Cause: Hearing aid is switched off.
Solution: Press the lower part of the multi-function button for 3 seconds to switch it on.

• Cause: Battery is fully discharged.
Solution: Charge the hearing aid.

Whistling can be caused by a couple of issues:

• Cause: Hearing aid is not inserted correctly into the ear.
Solution: Re-insert the hearing aid correctly.

• Cause: Cerumen (earwax) in the ear canal.
Solution: Contact your ENT/GP or hearing care professional.

If the volume of your hearing aid is not right, try the following:

• If it’s too loud: The volume may be set too high. Decrease the volume if a volume control is available on your device.

• If it’s not loud enough or distorted: This could be due to several reasons:

– Volume is too low: Increase the volume if a volume control is available.

– Low battery: Charge the hearing aid.

– Speaker/earpiece is blocked: Clean the speaker opening/earpiece.

– Your hearing has changed: Contact your hearing care professional.

Two beeps indicate that the battery is low. You will have approximately 60 minutes of use left. You should charge your hearing aid soon.

If the hearing aid will not switch on, check these possibilities:

• Cause: The battery is fully discharged.
Solution: Charge the hearing aid.

• Cause: The button was inadvertently deactivated by pressing it for longer than 15 seconds.
Solution: Perform step 2 of the rebooting process (place the hearing aid in the power-connected charger and wait for the green blinking light).

If the indicator light does not turn on, consider these causes:

• Cause: The hearing aid is not inserted correctly into the charger.
Solution: Re-insert the hearing aid correctly into the charger.

• Cause: The charger is not connected to a power source.
Solution: Connect the charger to an external power supply.

• Cause: The battery is fully discharged.
Solution: Wait three hours after placing the hearing aid in the charger, regardless of the LED behavior.

A solid red light in the charger indicates an issue. Here are possible causes and solutions:

• Cause: Dirty charging contacts.
Solution: Clean the contacts of the hearing aid and the charger.

• Cause: The hearing aid is out of its operating temperature range.
Solution: Warm the hearing aid up. The operating temperature range is +5° to +40° Celsius (+41° to +104° Fahrenheit).

• Cause: Faulty battery.
Solution: Contact your hearing care professional.

This happens when the “Auto On” feature is disabled. To use the hearing aid, you will need to switch it on manually by pressing the lower part of the button for 3 seconds.

This indicates that the hearing aid was in an error state (solid red light) when it was placed into the charger. You should reboot the hearing aid.

If the battery life seems shorter than expected, this could indicate a shortened battery life. A battery replacement may be required. Please contact your hearing care professional.

If you cannot make or receive calls through your hearing aids, check the following:

• Cause: The hearing aid is in flight mode.
Solution: Switch the hearing aid off and then on again to exit flight mode.

• Cause: The hearing aid is not paired to the phone.
Solution: Pair the hearing aid to your phone.

If charging does not begin when using the standard power supply, check these points:

• Cause: The charger is not connected to the power supply.
Solution: Connect the charger to the power supply.

• Cause: The hearing aid is not inserted correctly into the charger.
Solution: Insert the hearing aid correctly.

If charging does not start when using the optional Power Pack, it is likely because the Power Pack is discharged. You need to charge the Power Pack.
