Before using your PHONAK AUDEO M50-R for the first time, it is recommended to charge it for 3 hours.

To charge your hearing aids:

1. Connect the charger to a power source.

2. Insert the hearing aid into the charging inserts. Make sure the left (blue) and right (red) hearing aid markings match the indicators next to the charging inserts.

3. The indicator light on the hearing aid will show the charging state of the battery. The charging process automatically stops when the batteries are fully charged.

4. When fully charged, the indicator light will be a solid green light.

The indicator light on your PHONAK AUDEO M50-R shows the charging status. The charging process can take up to 3 hours.

To remove your PHONAK AUDEO M50-R hearing aids from the charging inserts, follow these steps:

1. Pull the hearing aids gently toward yourself.

2. Lift them out of the charger.

Note: Do not hold the tubes to remove the hearing aids, as this can cause damage. The hearing aid is configured to switch on automatically when removed from the charger. The indicator light will start blinking, and a solid green light indicates the hearing aid is ready.

There is a red or blue marking on the back of the hearing aid and on the speaker to help you identify them.

• Blue marking is for the left hearing aid.

• Red marking is for the right hearing aid.

The multi-function button on your PHONAK AUDEO M50-R has several functions depending on its programming:

• It acts as an on/off switch.

• It can be used for volume control.

• It can be used for program changes.

If your hearing aid is paired with a Bluetooth enabled phone, the button also controls phone calls:

• A short press on the upper or lower part will accept an incoming call.

• A long press will reject an incoming call.

Your PHONAK AUDEO M50-R is configured to switch on automatically when removed from the charger.

To manually switch it on or off:

• Switch On: Firmly press and hold the lower part of the button for 3 seconds until the indicator light blinks. A solid green light indicates the hearing aid is ready.

• Switch Off: Press and hold the lower part of the button for 3 seconds until the solid red light indicates the hearing aid is off.

1. Place the hearing aid behind your ear.

2. Insert the earpiece into your ear canal.

3. If there is an anchor attached to the earpiece, tuck it into the bowl of your ear to secure your hearing aid.

Pull on the bend of the tube and remove the hearing aid from behind the ear.

You only need to perform the pairing procedure once with each Bluetooth device.

1. On your device (e.g., a phone), ensure that Bluetooth is enabled and search for Bluetooth enabled devices in the connectivity settings menu.

2. Switch on both of your PHONAK AUDEO M50-R hearing aids. You now have 3 minutes to pair your hearing aids with your device.

3. Your device will show a list of Bluetooth enabled devices. Select the hearing aid from the list to simultaneously pair both hearing aids. A beep will confirm a successful pairing.

After the initial pairing, your hearing aids will connect automatically to the device when switched on. This can take up to 2 minutes.

When your PHONAK AUDEO M50-R is paired and connected to your phone, you will hear the caller’s voice directly in your hearing aids, and the hearing aid microphones will pick up your voice.

• Making a call: Enter the phone number on your phone and press the dial button. You will hear the dialing tone through your hearing aids.

• Accepting a call: When you receive a call, a notification will be heard in the hearing aids. Accept the call with a short press (less than 2 seconds) on the upper or lower part of the multi-function button, or directly on your phone.

• Ending a call: End a call with a long press (more than 2 seconds) on the upper or lower part of the multi-function button, or directly on your phone.

• Rejecting a call: Reject an incoming call with a long press (more than 2 seconds) on the upper or lower part of the multi-function button, or directly on your phone.

Entering flight mode disables the Bluetooth connectivity functions but does not disable normal hearing aid functionality. You must do this for each hearing aid.

To enter flight mode:

1. If the hearing aid is on, turn it off by pressing and holding the lower part of the button for 3 seconds until the indicator light turns solid red.

2. Press and hold the lower part of the button. The green indicator light will blink as the hearing aid starts up.

3. Keep pressing the button for 7 seconds, until the indicator light is solid orange, then release the button. The solid orange light indicates the hearing aid is in flight mode.

To exit flight mode:

Switch the hearing aid off and then on again.

If your hearing aid is in an error state, you can use this technique to reboot it. This will not remove or delete any programs or settings.

1. Press the lower part of the button for at least 15 seconds. It does not matter if the hearing aid is on or off. There will be no light or sound at the end of the 15 seconds.

2. Place the hearing aid in the power-connected charger and wait until the indicator light blinks green. This can take up to 30 seconds. The hearing aid is now ready to use.

Always make sure the hearing aids and charger are dry and clean before charging. Always disconnect the charger from the power mains before cleaning.

Daily Care:

• Hearing aid: Inspect the earpiece for earwax and moisture deposits. Clean the surfaces with a lint-free cloth. Never use cleaning agents like household detergents or soap.

• Chargers: Make sure that charger inserts are clean. Never use cleaning agents.

Weekly Care:

• Hearing aid: Clean the earpiece with a soft, damp cloth or with a special cleaning cloth for hearing aids. Clean the charging contacts on the hearing aid with a soft, damp cloth.

• Chargers: Remove dust or dirt from the charger inserts.

The earwax protection should be checked regularly and replaced every four to eight weeks, or if it looks dirty or if sound quality is reduced.

1. Removing the earpiece from the speaker:

• Hold the speaker in one hand and the earpiece in the other.

• Gently pull off the earpiece to remove it.

• Clean the speaker with a lint-free cloth.

2. Exchanging the earwax protection with CeruShield Disk:

• Gently rotate the CeruShield Disk in the direction of the arrows until a free opening appears under the bin icon.

• To remove a used protector, carefully insert the speaker into the free opening (under the bin icon) until it clicks.

• To insert a new protector, carefully insert the speaker into the opening where the new earwax protector is visible (opposite the bin icon) until it clicks.

3. Attaching the earpiece to the speaker:

• Hold the speaker in one hand and the earpiece in the other.

• Slide the earpiece over the speaker sound outlet.

• The speaker and the earpiece should fit perfectly together.

Please ensure you charge and use the PHONAK AUDEO M50-R hearing aid within the following ranges:

• Temperature: +5° to +40° Celsius (41° to 104° Fahrenheit)

• Atmospheric pressure: 800 hPa to 1060 hPa

The Audéo M-R/RT models are classified as IP68, meaning they are designed to be used in daily life situations and can be exposed to rain showers or sweat. However, they are not intended for use in water activities involving chlorinated water, soap, salt water, or other liquids with a chemical content.

If your PHONAK AUDEO M50-R is not functioning, try the following:

• Clean the speaker opening/earpiece for any blockage.

• Ensure the hearing aid is switched on. Press the lower part of the multi-function button for 3 seconds.

• The battery may be fully discharged. Charge the hearing aid for at least 3 hours.

Whistling can be caused by a few issues:

• The hearing aid may not be inserted correctly into your ear. Try re-inserting it.

• There may be cerumen (earwax) in your ear canal.

If the sound is too low or distorted, try these steps:

• Increase the volume if the volume control is available.

• The battery may be low. Charge the hearing aid.

• The speaker/earpiece may be blocked. Clean the speaker opening/earpiece.

Two beeps is the indication for a low battery. You will have approximately 60 minutes of use before you need to charge the hearing aids. You should charge your PHONAK AUDEO M50-R soon.

There are two common reasons for this:

• The battery is fully discharged. Please charge the hearing aid.

• The button may have been inadvertently deactivated by pressing it for longer than 15 seconds. To fix this, perform step 2 of the rebooting process by placing the hearing aid in the power-connected charger until the green light blinks.
