Before using your PHONAK AUDEO M50-RT hearing aid for the first time, it is recommended to charge it for 3 hours. After placing your hearing aid in the charger, the indicator light will show the charging state of the battery until the hearing aid is fully charged. When fully charged, the indicator light will be constantly on, i.e. solid green light.

There is a red or blue marking on the back of the hearing aid and on the speaker. This will tell you if it is a left or a right hearing aid.

Blue marking is for the left hearing aid.

Red marking is for the right hearing aid.

The multi-function button on your PHONAK AUDEO M50-RT has several functions. It functions as an on/off switch, a volume control and/or a program change depending on the hearing aid programming. If paired with a Bluetooth enabled phone, a short press on the upper or lower part of the button will accept an incoming call, and a long press will reject an incoming call.

To turn your PHONAK AUDEO M50-RT on or off, firmly press the lower part of the button for 3 seconds until the indicator light blinks.

On: The indicator light will be solid green.

Off: The indicator light will be solid red.

The hearing aid is also configured to switch on automatically when removed from the charger. If this function is not configured, you must use the button.

To enter flight mode on your PHONAK AUDEO M50-RT, first make sure the device is off. Then, press the lower part of the button for 7 seconds until the solid orange light appears. Then release the button. Entering flight mode will not disable normal hearing aid functionality, only the Bluetooth connectivity functions.

The PHONAK AUDEO M50-RT hearing aid consists of the following parts:

• Multi-function button with built-in indicator light

• Tube

• Anchor (optional)

• Charging contacts

• Speaker

Possible earpieces include Dome, SlimTip, and cShell.

The Charger Case Combi includes:

• Space for drying capsule

• Space for earpieces

• Hearing aid charging inserts with left/right indicators

The Mini Charger Case includes:

• Hearing aid charging inserts with left/right indicators

• USB-C connection to external power supply

• Indicator light for power

To prepare the charger for your PHONAK AUDEO M50-RT, follow these steps:

a) Plug the larger end of the charging cable into the power supply.

b) Plug the smaller end into the USB port on the charger.

c) Plug the power supply into a power outlet.

d) The indicator light on the charger will turn green when it is connected to the power supply.

When the battery is low on your PHONAK AUDEO M50-RT, you will hear two beeps. You will have approximately 60 minutes before you have to charge the hearing aids, though this can vary depending on your settings.

1. Insert the hearing aid into the charging inserts. Make sure the left and right hearing aid markings match the left (blue) and right (red) indicators next to the charging inserts. The hearing aids will automatically be muted when inserted.

2. The indicator light will show the charging state of the battery. When fully charged, the indicator light will remain on as a solid green light. The charging process automatically stops when the batteries are full. It can take up to 3 hours to fully charge the hearing aids.

3. To remove the hearing aids, gently pull them toward yourself and then lift them out of the charger. Do not hold the tubes to remove the hearing aids, as this can cause damage.

The hearing aid switches on automatically when removed from the charger. A solid green light indicates the hearing aid is ready.

The Power Pack is only compatible with the Charger Case Combi.

1. Attach the Power Pack to the bottom of the Charger Case Combi and lock it.

2. Plug in the micro-USB to connect to an external power supply. The Power Pack and hearing aids will be charged at the same time. The Power Pack indicator light will show its current battery charge status.

3. To check the remaining battery capacity of the Power Pack, press the battery check push button. The indicator lights will show the status:

• One light: 0%-29%

•• Two lights: 30%-59%

••• Three lights: 60%-100%

Before using the Power Pack for the first time, it is recommended to charge it for 3 hours.

1. Place the hearing aid behind your ear.

2. Insert the earpiece into your ear canal.

3. If there is an anchor attached to the earpiece, tuck it into the bowl of your ear to secure your hearing aid.

Pull on the bend of the tube and remove the hearing aid from behind the ear.

You only need to perform the pairing procedure once with each Bluetooth device.

1. On your device (e.g., a phone), ensure that Bluetooth is enabled and search for Bluetooth enabled devices in the connectivity setting menu.

2. Switch on both of your PHONAK AUDEO M50-RT hearing aids. You now have 3 minutes to pair your hearing aids with your device.

3. Your device will show a list of Bluetooth enabled devices. Select the hearing aid from the list to simultaneously pair both hearing aids. A beep will confirm successful pairing.

After the initial pairing, your hearing aids will connect automatically to the device when switched on. This can take up to 2 minutes.

Your PHONAK AUDEO M50-RT hearing aids connect directly with Bluetooth enabled phones. You will hear the caller’s voice directly in your hearing aids, and the hearing aids’ microphones will pick up your voice.

Making a call: Enter the phone number and press the dial button on your phone. You will hear the dialing tone through your hearing aids.

Accepting a call: When you receive a call, you will hear a notification. Accept the call with a short press (less than 2 seconds) on the upper or lower part of the multi-function button on the hearing aid, or directly on your phone.

Ending a call: End the call with a long press (more than 2 seconds) on the upper or lower part of the multi-function button, or directly on your phone.

Rejecting a call: Reject an incoming call with a long press (more than 2 seconds) on the upper or lower part of the multi-function button, or directly on your phone.

To disable the wireless function and enter flight mode on each PHONAK AUDEO M50-RT hearing aid:

1. If the hearing aid is on, turn it off by pressing and holding the lower part of the button for 3 seconds until the indicator light turns solid red.

2. Press and hold the lower part of the button. The green indicator light will blink as the hearing aid starts up.

3. Keep pressing the button for a total of 7 seconds, until the indicator light is solid orange, then release the button. The solid orange light indicates the hearing aid is in flight mode.

To exit flight mode, simply switch the hearing aid off and then on again.

If your PHONAK AUDEO M50-RT is in an error state, you can use this technique to reboot it. This will not remove or delete any programs or settings.

1. Press the lower part of the button for at least 15 seconds. It does not matter if the hearing aid is switched on or off. There will be no light or sound at the end of the 15 seconds.

2. Place the hearing aid in the power-connected charger and wait until the indicator light blinks green. This can take up to 30 seconds. The hearing aid is now ready to use.

General Information:

• Before using hair spray or applying cosmetics, remove your hearing aid from your ear.

• Always make sure the hearing aids and charger are dry and clean before charging.

Daily Care:

• Hearing aid: Inspect the earpiece for earwax and moisture. Clean the surfaces with a lint-free cloth. Never use cleaning agents like household detergents or soap.

• Chargers: Make sure the charger inserts are clean. Never use cleaning agents to clean your charger.

Weekly Care:

• Hearing aid: Clean the earpiece with a soft, damp cloth or a special cleaning cloth for hearing aids. Clean the charging contacts on the hearing aid with a soft, damp cloth.

• Chargers: Remove dust or dirt from the charger inserts. Always make sure the charger is disconnected from the power mains before cleaning.

You should check the earwax protector regularly and replace it if it looks dirty or if the sound quality is reduced, typically every four to eight weeks.

1. Remove the earpiece:

Hold the speaker in one hand and the earpiece in the other, and gently pull off the earpiece. Clean the speaker with a lint-free cloth.

2. Exchange the protector with the CeruShield Disk:

• Gently rotate the CeruShield Disk until a free opening appears under the bin icon.

• To remove the used protector, carefully insert the speaker into this free opening until it clicks. The removed protector will be visible below the bin icon.

• To insert a new protector, carefully insert the speaker into the opening where the new protector is visible (opposite the bin icon) until it clicks. The opening below will now be empty, and the new protector will be on the speaker.

3. Attach the earpiece:

Slide the earpiece back over the speaker sound outlet. The speaker and earpiece should fit perfectly together.

• The rechargeable hearing aids and Power Pack contain lithium-ion batteries and can be taken on airplanes as carry-on luggage only; they cannot be placed in checked-in baggage.

• When flying, check if the flight operator requires devices to be switched into flight mode.

• Hearing aids are intended to amplify sound for impaired hearing and should only be used by the intended person.

• Changes or modifications not explicitly approved by the manufacturer are not permitted.

• Do not use the hearing aids in explosive areas (e.g., mines, oxygen-rich environments) or where electronic equipment is prohibited.

• If you feel pain, inflammation, or skin irritation in or behind your ear, consult your hearing care professional.

• This hearing aid is not for children below 36 months. Its usage by children and individuals with cognitive impairment should be supervised at all times as it contains small parts that can be a choking hazard.

• For persons with active implantable medical devices (e.g., pacemakers, defibrillators), keep the wireless hearing aid at least 15 cm (6 inches) away from the active implant.
